Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

You never know @MotherOfDragonite it might be real, these things happen, a sudden or unexpected ‘whoosh’. It might go up again this week a little (natural fluctuations) but you might find overall it’s gone down quite a bit. So I would be optimistic!

Thanks @Egghead68 really struggled last night, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t talk, had already maxed out on paracetamol and ibuprofen. But now the appropriate time has passed I’m on the cocodamol and that is much better. Still sore but not as severe as before and can talk more. So yay! Waiting to hear back from GP.

Will still be a bed day but feeling a bit more positive now lol Grin thinking I’ll do an iced decaf, feel like that will go down smoothly, I’m really warm and throat is swollen and that sounds reeeally appealing right now Grin I do really like iced coffees. But have to steer clear of the coffee shop ones/frappes usually due to sugar

KedsAndTubeSocks · 12/03/2020 08:40

I also appear to have lost a vast amount of weight overnight @MotherOfDragonite. Grin Let's not question it, just take it at face value! Good luck with quarantining the family. Come and vent here when it all gets too much!
Hope you're feeling better @cricketmum84. Is it the ex? Flowers

Ecci · 12/03/2020 09:25

Must be the day for it. Strangely, I've also gone down a lot since yesterday 2.6 lbs. Tuesday I didn't eat anything due to feeling really ill, nasty ear infection, so got on the scales yesterday morning expecting a loss but no, it was the same, and yet today its gone down! Not that I'm complaining, just hoping it stays gone.

fractionated · 12/03/2020 09:52

Well done everyone with even more losses!! I have been doing quite well during the day then spoiling it in the evenings when I get hungry before bed 😑 trying to stay away from the scales until Monday but not feeling very hopeful. Thanks for all the snack suggestions tho 👍🏼

Ihatesundays · 12/03/2020 09:53

Another loss of 0.1kg to take me to 69.7kg.
Feeling down as the weight loss has been spurred on by holiday to the US in may. Not sure we are going to get there now.

cricketmum84 · 12/03/2020 11:32

Morning my lovelies! Sorry for late post I was up all night with poorly DD so had a little nana nap this morning!

Loving the losses this morning! Amazing work ladies!

Welcome @Happymama24

@beforeIhit30 that sounds awful! Hope you are feeling better soon!

Plan for today;
B - skipped
L - avocado with salt, pepper, chilli and lime
D - courgette fritters and poached eggs

Still giving myself a big shake every day!

Good morning all, congrats to those who have had a whoosh. I'm down 1.2 lbs today which is still 1lb up on my lowest weight this month.
What do you all do if you feel hungry - stomach growlingly hungry and you have finished your allowance for the day? I had this last night whilst food shopping, I had eaten dinner plus 10g nuts and a babybeI so shouldn't have been hungry at all. I tried to ignore it and drank some water when I got home but I felt rather miserable (and still ravenous) for the rest of the night. Is it best to eat something high protein to stop the hunger pangs or just power through?

MotherOfDragonite · 12/03/2020 12:00

@Tryingtwo, my 'correct answer' to your question is that I eat lots of really nice fresh tasty carrot sticks.

In real life, this only works for me about 50% of the time, and the other times I eat something I hadn't planned to eat, like a slice of wholemeal toast with a light Dairylea triangle on it or something.

I actually now proactively budget points (I'm doing Weight Watchers, but you could do the same with calories) for an evening snack, as I have identified this as a problem time for me! I find I can often do without carbs at lunch, and have a low-point veg soup for example, and then save the points for a hot cross bun or spoonful of peanut butter or something 'treaty' in the evening.

MotherOfDragonite · 12/03/2020 12:01

Or having a cup of tea with some skimmed/light milk, or a low calorie drink of some kind, might take the edge off?

MotherOfDragonite · 12/03/2020 12:02

Sorry your DD is poorly, @cricketmum84. Your planned meals sound absolutely delicious! I am tempted to try making courgette fritters myself but I have a bad track record with getting any kind of fritters to stick together Grin

ploughingthrough · 12/03/2020 13:05

@Tryingtwo have you given herbal tea a go? I have got into the routine of having one every evening before I've even had the chance to get hungry. The pukka ones are lovely and I find that strong herbs like cinnamon or lemongrass take the edge off.

GetTheStartyParted · 12/03/2020 15:52

Such good losses from people, you're doing great.
Nice to see some positivity returning to the thread. Hope everyone feels better soon.

I weigh myself on Mondays, due my period in a couple of days though and feel super bloated and heavy Hmm

Going to concentrate on my NSVs. Knocked 4 minutes off my swimming time and don't wake in the middle of the night with aching knees afterwards now! Walked the dogs for an hour today and covered way more ground than usual. Yay!

Now to avoid the cherry cupcakes DS baked at school today Wink

SconNotScone · 12/03/2020 16:53

If I am feeling hungry/craving something in the evenings, I sometimes have an Options hot chocolate. They’re 40 calories a mug, and I find it satisfying enough not to really want anything else. I like the mint and the salted caramel versions best.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 12/03/2020 17:12

Does anyone have any suggestions for baggy skin? I look ok with my clothes on, but my stomach looks awful as the skin is too big.

cricketmum84 · 12/03/2020 21:45

@KedsAndTubeSocks I don't but I would like some suggestions too!! My skin isn't baggy but the skin on my lower stomach, under my arms and the inside of my thighs has become quite crepey and wrinkled. I hate the sight of it.

I've got a firming lotion from Avon and a massaging tool but I don't think it's making any difference.

cricketmum84 · 12/03/2020 21:48

@MotherOfDragonite my fritters don't stick together either 😂😂 tonight's were a little better though. With courgette fritters the trick is to leave the grated courgette to sit with salt on so you can squeeze as much water out as possible.

SconNotScone · 13/03/2020 07:07

Morning all, happy Friday! Very happy Friday for me today, I weighed in at 66.75kg (just shy of 10st 7lb) this morning. That’s a loss of 1.25kg this week, and just over 2kg for the month so far. I knew I had a loss this week, but wasn’t anticipating more than a kg, so I’m really thrilled!

10st 7 is where I usually get bored and give up, even though it’s only half a stone or so until I’m at my goal. I’m pleased to say that I’m still motivated and feel like I can do it this time!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and stay safe and well.

Onceuponatimethen · 13/03/2020 07:13

Well done @SconNotScone! You must be really pleased with that.

I think this thread is a really big help to keep motivated. I’ve definitely found it really useful.

I had a big birthday meal last night so couldn’t stick to low cal because I wanted to join in.

But my book says a spurge is fine on a special occasion as long as you ‘pay it back’ the next day, so today firing the day food will be the following:

B - grapefruit
L - low cal veg soup

I need to make sure I plan dinner to keep on the waggon but not sure what I have in yet.

Onceuponatimethen · 13/03/2020 07:13

I meant during the day - stupid autocorrect

Egghead68 · 13/03/2020 07:15

Well done @sconnotscone! Congratulations on the whooshes, those who have had them.

63.1kg this morning.

Ihatesundays · 13/03/2020 07:45

Shocked I lost more weight (was in plateau for months) and am now 69.3kg.
67kg is my current target and feeling a bit achievable. Going to see how I am from there as I have put on lots of muscle and am really small (for me) just now

Onesmallstep67 · 13/03/2020 08:07

Hi everyone, still reading along when I can. The amateur play that I am doing is taking over my life, first night on Tuesday ( if we survive any new Corona virus restrictions ! )
Well done to everyone seeing such great losses. Lots of great commitment there.
I am stuck at 15st 6lbs. +2 for March so not going particularly well ! I thought being busy would help but clearly not. I am definitely consuming too many carbs. I will see where I am with things after the play. I think I need a change in tactic.

cricketmum84 · 13/03/2020 08:22

Morning all! Happy Friday indeed!

I also have the corona panic. Woken with a very sore throat this morning and a temperature. Got to go in the office though as I need some documents etc for Monday plus I've got a full day training meeting booked in.

I am so so tired at the moment. Just not sleeping well at all and it's affecting my food choices and weight. Still bloody 18.4 this morning. I'm not gonna make 7lbs off at this rate.

Plan for today is:
B - 2 satsumas
L - some sort of soup from Morrison's (or hot from Greggs - their vegetable soup is gorgeous)
D - spiralised courgette (yes I bought too many courgettes 😂) with a little pesto and reduced fat creme fraiche. One of my new favourite meals.

Couple of g&ts

Hope everyone has a great Friday. Huge congrats for those of you who are so close to target. Can't even imagine how elated I would feel!!

beforeihit30 · 13/03/2020 08:35

Congrats @SconNotScone!

That’s great @Ihatesundays, especially when you’re building muscle it’s the measurements more than the scales that really show how you’ve changed.

Oh no @cricketmum84! I have no idea if this is any consolation, but GP asked to see me yesterday after my phone consultation as she was concerned because my sore throat meant I was struggling to swallow and speak properly. Turns out I’ve got bacterial tonsillitis (how?!). She checked me over and put me straight on ABs. It’s only been a day and I tell you what, I’m already feeling much better. Still have weird speech and feeling sore but miles improved from where I was. Take care of yourself Brew give yourself some rest when you can and keep an eye on how your sore throat develops.

JessJonesJumps · 13/03/2020 09:33

I've had a busy few days and this fell off my threads but I have still been watching what I'm eating. WI - I've lost 2.4lbs this month.

I have the nurse again today to discuss last week's blood tests.

I was hoping Boris was going to close the schools especially since we had a school event last night. DH has an underlying condition that affects his immune system so we're constantly reassessing where we can go and what we're doing. I'm currently so stressed about it all that I don't have much of an appetite.
I'll go back and catch up with the thread now.
