cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

@fractionated I know it's horrible to be under such pressure. I'm trying the 5:2 diet for the next 2 weeks to see how I go. I've just been on a 1200 calorie restriction for the past 2 months so I'm down about 4kg this year. It's been a slow journey 😞

cricketmum84 · 08/03/2020 21:03

@lboogy is that a typical day for you? It's ok having a BMI low enough for the ivf treatment but your body needs to be healthy too to carry a baby and you may not be completely healthy on that low a calorie allowance and so few nutrients.

OP posts:
KedsAndTubeSocks · 08/03/2020 21:09

@Iboogy well that's certainly an incentive! That really is a low number of calories. I certainly couldn't live off that for more than a day. Good luck

coffeeagogo · 08/03/2020 21:11

Joining as I am struggling with my weight and I 'have' to get a handle on it now - following ww green starting tomorrow

KedsAndTubeSocks · 08/03/2020 21:19

I've just measured my waist:hip ratio and I'm overweight. @JessJonesJumps if I tend to lose weight off my hips faster than my stomach, I'll never get a healthy WHR. Any thoughts on this?

Catminder901 · 08/03/2020 21:26

Thank you, @cricketmum84 for pointing me towards this thread!

I'd love to join, if I may? BMI 47.5, I weigh 21 st 2 lbs and I'm aiming to lose 8 stone over time. Type 2 diabetic on injections currently and high blood pressure.

I'm aiming to kick start my new regime this week. Eating less, cutting carbs, and trying to go for a walk each evening.

cricketmum84 · 08/03/2020 21:53

Huge welcome @coffeeagogo and @Catminder901 💕 I really hope you find the thread helpful!

I'm on a biiiig push now and going to introduce exercise this coming week. Plan is to go for a fast walk/jog when I drop littlest DD off at school in the morning. Her school is opposite a big square of moorland that's about 1.5 miles to go round so that's my starting point.

Then Wednesday 5km on exercise bike and Thursday night (eek) swimming! I love swimming and haven't been for ages with being so huge. Time to brave it again!

Doesn't sound much I know but my job is so sedentary and home life so busy that I struggle to hit 2000 steps a day normally!

OP posts:
JessJonesJumps · 08/03/2020 21:53

@KedsAndTubeSocks I don't understand how it works. 🤷‍♀️ After I posted on here, I was thinking about it. I tend to have a good ratio because I have big hips. But I'm still very overweight. I can't work out how people are supposed to change ratio because it seems to depend on body shape.

I had another busy working-from-home day so ate too much and all the wrong stuff - homemade pancakes, sausage roll, cake. Not ideal. But I'm in the office tomorrow so hopefully will do better.

beforeihit30 · 08/03/2020 22:40

Welcome @coffeeagogo!

Hi @Catminder901! If you’re cutting carbs, have you seen the Diet Doctor website? Apologies if I’m repeating stuff you already have/know, I’m on a keto diet (for the long term, not just for weight loss but also for management of chronic illness), I started as liberal low carb and found the visual guides on the website soooo handy. It just really simplified understanding carbs and where they are. There is a mountain of info on that website so I don’t recommend trying to read everything straight away (it would take forever!), but the guides are simple. I walked around the supermarket with them open on my phone to help me at first and it made things easier.

cricketmum84 · 08/03/2020 22:53

@Catminder901 please don't let some of the more barbed comments on your other thread get you down.

Some people need to look at the size of their own arses before hoiking up their judgy pants!

OP posts:
Catminder901 · 08/03/2020 23:04

@cricketmum84 Aww, thanks. I am not getting down about it, really. I'm just fed up with myself and my body really!

@beforeIhit30 thanks for the website link, I will take a look!

My tummy is grumbling for a snack at the moment and I'm ignoring it!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 09/03/2020 06:48

Good luck @Catminder901. Whichever diet you follow, I highly recommend increasing your water. You'll be running to the bathroom for the first few days, but it really is key to weight loss success.
Welcome @coffeeagogo!
@cricketmum84 good luck with the exercise. I'm turning into a bit of an exercise junkie! It's supposed to be my day off today but I'm considering exercise vid. I recommend Strava if you're walking/running. You can look back over your route and feel really smug!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 09/03/2020 06:49

@DownUdderer you've gone a bit quiet. Everything okay?

Egghead68 · 09/03/2020 07:01

64.0kg. Pants. Weight going up because I’m not able to go to the gym or supermarket so living a sedentary freezer-food lifestyle. I’ve ordered lots of fruit and veg for delivery Thursday and will try to be more disciplined about the home exercise videos.

Welcome new people. Good luck with the exercise @cricketmum84.

Catminder901 · 09/03/2020 07:05

@KedsAndTubeSocks thanks for the advice! Will definitely do that... I have a very bad overactive/leaky bladder problem, so I am quite used to rushing to the loo, haha! Wink Another incentive to lose weight since, though it's partly post-pregnancy, it's also very much weight-related. Blush

Newyearnewarse · 09/03/2020 07:19

Morning , another Monday start here !

I went away with a friend for the weekend and fell off the wagon but I am now back on it.

So far this month I have lost 2 pounds so a while to go , will get to the gym today and give my arse a kick .

Will have a read back for some motivation.

Happy Monday all!

GetTheStartyParted · 09/03/2020 07:49

Weigh in day:
2lb loss this week
So that's 3lb in March
And 22lbs overall.

It's really slowed down now but I think it's around a 2.5lb loss a week. Have to constantly remind myself that it all adds up.

Welcome @Catminder901 and good luck Smile

GetTheStartyParted · 09/03/2020 07:54

@cricketmum84 your exercise plan sounds great.

I swim a couple of times a week and find it very relaxing. I feel much better afterwards and although I've only been doing it a few weeks I can tell I've increased my fitness, my knees don't ache all night afterwards now either!

Can't face the gym yet but I keep getting reminders that I need to book my induction Blush Is your exercise bike at home or in a gym?

cricketmum84 · 09/03/2020 08:22

@GetTheStartyParted 2.5lbs a week is really good! It's a sensible and sustainable loss. Any more and you run a higher risk of regaining it.

Haven't had time for my jog this morning as some !}€~>|$|! Has booked me on an 8.30am project call. So I'm going to school early this afternoon to try do it then. Am very much looking forward to swimming though, I absolutely love being alone and not having to talk to people 😂 and this will be my "me time".

Right plan for today!
B - egg breakfast muffins
L - DD wants to make some sort of Chinese noodle soup
D - leftover cauli and broccoli cheese from yesterday (I added whole grain mustard and it was gorgeous!!)

BIG veggie delivery this morning so will add pics when it gets here!

Happy Monday everyone!

Thanks, sensible me knows this is a good rate. Fat me wants to be thin now! Grin

I work part time and study full time so swimming gives me a break. Good for my health, clears my head and gives me a break. I love it.

Hope you enjoy your jog and swim when you get to do them, uninterrupted!

My day is skip breakfast or maybe yogurt with a few raspberries.
Lunch of fried halloumi with a cucumber salad
Dinner of sausages with cheesy cauliflower 'mash'.

Catminder901 · 09/03/2020 08:49

Yoghurt, coffee and water with lime for breakfast. I actually feel ok so far! Not too starving.

I parked a little further away from work than usual and gave myself a 5 minute walk. I was a bit sweaty and wheezy on arrival (lovely start to the day!) but I managed to do it without stopping!

JessJonesJumps · 09/03/2020 08:55

2.5lbs per week is great GetTheParty !

I'm so impressed by everyone exercising and swimming. I haven't got into a good exercise habit yet. Mine is too sporadic.

The only habit I've really worked on this month is getting lots of sleep! I'm 1lb down this morning which I'm very happy with.

beforeihit30 · 09/03/2020 09:02

@GetTheStartyParted 2.5lb a week is loads, you’re doing great! That works out to something like a 1250 calorie deficit per day? As in, the usually say for every 500 calorie per day deficit, over the course of a week that will equal about 1lb of weight loss which is sensible. So anything more and you’re well away! I understand the feeling of wanting to be there now though, I get those days, but the great thing is by doing what you’re doing now you know you will be there, maybe it’s in 3 months, 9 months, 2 years, whatever your ultimate goal is, but you know you can say, “If today was (that future date), I would be there, because of my efforts now” and it will be a great feeling.

Had some tummy pain in the night Confused not sure why but think I inadvertently took too much of a fibre supplement (oops Blush), hopefully have rectified that now but meant I wasn’t up for the school run this morning (so no extra steps for me...). BUT, I weighed myself and I’ve broken a new threshold! I’m now 149.4lb, yay, the 140s! So that was nice compensation for my rubbish night Grin

Fishfingersandwichplease · 09/03/2020 09:08

Last time l lost a significant amount of weight l did it by allowing myself one thing a day as a treat - then when l stopped losing l cut it down to one treat every other day so am going to try that again. Need to shift a stone and a half by May half term week as going on a group holiday so am hoping l have found my people. Thing my mates in RL are bored of my diets and l don't blame them!!

Ecci · 09/03/2020 09:30

Yesterday (my weigh in day that I record) I was 190 lbs, where I've been for about 3 weeks. Bit fed up so eat more than usual yesterday.
B Slice of toast and cherry jam
L Beetroot and lettuce sandwich, peach, grapes, banana, kiwi fruit
D homemade pizza (tuna, mushrooms, red pepper, cheese) and a packet of mini cheddar.
Weighed this morning, expecting it to be up, and it's gone down a pound. Don't know how that works!
