cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

@MotherOfDragonite it's actually really exciting to think of it that way isn't it. Feels so much more achievable.

I wouldn't be down to my target weight by my holiday in October but I would be very close.

CumbrianExile · 07/03/2020 22:03

Congrats cricketmum and ploughingthrough both great achievements.

I took the kids to Chester zoo today and failed miserably to avoid ice cream 🤣 Never mind. I've tried to syn it and am still within my weekly allowance so all good 😀

JessJonesJumps · 07/03/2020 22:15

Chester Zoo always reminds me of the thread on here where someone made fake zoo tickets. Grin I ended up having to work from home today and am feeling stir-crazy.

@recklessgran have a lovely break. I wish I had a doctor who would prescribe holidays. It sounds like bliss.

cricketmum84 · 07/03/2020 23:41

Aw I haven't been to Chester zoo in ages! I really want to go to a safari park but DH won't allow it because monkeys and cars don't mix apparently :(

Been in a proper grump tonight! Think it's Cos I haven't eaten properly for a few days and have lost interest in food again. Had a bag of vegetable corn chips from my vegan box earlier and then tried to make the Bosh Peking "duck" made with shredded king oyster mushrooms. Cost me £3.85 for 3 bleeding mushrooms, they cooked down to nothing and were awful. I followed the recipe to the letter but they were so salty! Plus had forgotten I had used the rest of the cucumber and I had 2 sad spring onions left and to top it off someone had used the last of the Chinese pancakes and not added it to the list I keep on the fridge of things we have used the last of.

God I sound really whiney I know but I am just in such a bad mood!! Wonder if I have hormones kicking in again...

63.9kg - up after eating half the contents of the fridge in the night. Couldn’t sleep as was trying to decide what to do about work and the coronavirus (I am high-risk and can’t work from home).

I think we need the name of your doctor @recklessgran! Your holiday sounds wonderful - bet you can’t wait.

@Onesmallstep67 hang in there. I haven’t lost for ages either and gained a pound yesterday. It’s really hard to motivate yourself when there is little change on the scales (or the change is upwards). For me keeping trying is better than a return to my old totally uncontrolled eating and the health problems that was causing/making worse. The way I see it, even if I am not losing much, I am not gaining as much as I would have done. Hope you have a better day today.

Egghead68 · 08/03/2020 06:28

@cricketmum84 sounds like you need chocolate and wine. I think you have earned it, after all!

CumbrianExile · 08/03/2020 07:22

jessjonesjumps I remember that thread too 😂
cricketmum DS1 went to knowsley safari park with school recently. He loved it! But I'm in your DH camp, monkeys and cars don't mix well! Shame though as I do quite fancy it.

fractionated · 08/03/2020 07:47

Hi all, zoo sounds fun!! I had a bad day yesterday too 😕 but am determined to get back on wagon today, even though I feel like saying sod it. Actually I managed not to go totally overboard having had a very big calorific lunch and not a great dinner - previously i would have given in and just stuffed my face with all kinds of dessert and wine too but I managed not to. So I guess that's a kind of win. Weigh in tomorrow morning 🤞🏼

fractionated · 08/03/2020 07:48

Feel for you @Egghead68 - that sounds like a stressful work scenario ☹️

Onesmallstep67 · 08/03/2020 08:14

Thank you @Egghead68 and @cricketmum84 for your encouragement. I am not quite sure what has happened to me but I have been completely and utterly useless with my eating for over a week now. It's as if my body/brain has just decided it's fed up of the restrictions and I have given in to way too much junk.
BUT I made myself a promise that I was going to not let things slide back to old habits so I need to give myself a good talking to and stop this now. 👍

SconNotScone · 08/03/2020 08:18

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Nothing to report from me, food choices over the last couple of days have been fairly good - not been to the gym since Wednesday though (although did force myself to do a little HIIT workout at home on Friday), hoping to get to the gym tonight.
I’m taking DD round to a friends later, we’re going to be having early tea there, which is pizzas. I think it should be ok, as when we do that, it tends to be an on-the-go picky meal, so can just have a couple of bits with lots of salad and veggie sticks, etc. I know there are brownies and strawberries for pudding, can I avoid the brownie?! I’m not sure I can!

Keep up all the hard work, you’re all doing fabulously.

Ps. I love a safari park!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 08/03/2020 08:37

Can I join you?

I started losing weight in July then had some surgery on my leg that put me back a bit. I then restarted in January using Slimming World again but began to feel quite disenchanted with the principles. I read James Smiths 'Not a Diet Book' and Max Moselys 'Fast 800' and I'm now doing Intermittent Fasting (16:8) combined with a calorie deficit.

Up to now I have lost 23.5lbs and am hoping to break through to the next stone barrier when I weigh in on Weds. I have about 60lbs in total to lose before I make a decision about a final target weight.

I gave myself the whole year to lose the weight, and about 7lbs a month would help to reach that.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 08/03/2020 09:09

Michael Moseley! 😂

Kolo · 08/03/2020 09:21

My first weigh in and I lost 3lb! It's a start. Got to say, reading about all your losses is pretty inspirational.

Onceuponatimethen · 08/03/2020 09:35

Welcome @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa, the Mosley diet is based on Prof Roy Taylor’s research, I think and it’s Roy Taylor’s new book that dp and I are using.

Having said we are using it we are too wussy to do the shakes and are going for a low cal option instead.

We fell off the wagon spectacularly yesterday dp and me - went to someone’s house and offered homemade little cakes and shortbreads and are those. Then later we had a massive takeaway!

So today we are starting again. So far:

Smallish bowl of porridge plus fruit salad (mango, blueberries, pineapple and raspberry) actually quite tasty!

Onceuponatimethen · 08/03/2020 09:35

@Kolo that’s amazing!

Ecci · 08/03/2020 10:03

Weigh in this morning, 190 lbs so a loss of 0.2 lbs this week. Guess I'm still on my plateau.

MotherOfDragonite · 08/03/2020 10:22

Well done @Kolo, that's a wonderful start!!

@Ecci, well done on your loss too, it may not be what you hoped for (I had the same last week!) but you are still losing!

Welcome to @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa! This is a very friendly and encouraging group, I've found it very helpful in keeping me on track and I hope you will too.

Enquiring minds want to know, @SconNotScone... was it possible to avoid the brownie?!

@Onesmallstep67 don't let this get you down, you can do this. Don't worry about having had a blip or let it derail you more from what you want -- you can always just jump right back in where you are.

@cricketmum84 I feel your pain! It's so upsetting when you spend ages making a meal and it's not tasty!

@Egghead68 best of luck with your dilemma, it's extremely difficult to know what to do at the moment and I am having similar considerations for different reasons (I am a solo parent and very concerned about getting ill and being unable to care for the children).

cricketmum84 · 08/03/2020 11:08

Morning all, hormones still raging here and in a flump. I think I need shutting in an empty room today!

@Egghead68 I think you may be right about the wine and chocolate!

@SconNotScone I do love a picky tea! Enjoy and stay strong when faced with the brownies!

Welcome @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa love the username 😂😂 great loss so far!!

Congrats @Kolo that's a fab result for week one!!

@Onceuponatimethen don't worry we all need a treat night sometimes!! The trick is to start again the next day. You and your DP are doing really well! Remember this is a huge lifestyle change and it's not easy to just change immediately without a few slips along the way.

@Ecci don't be disheartened, it's still in the right direction!

Being a bit of a geek and feeling excited as I've put my fruit and veg order in for delivery tomorrow. I've meal planned for the week with some new recipes to try out on DD1. She is still not eating meat and doing so well.

Plan for today is:
B - skipped
L - celery sticks and hummous
D - a sort of vegetable cheese bake with cauli, broccoli, crispy onions, peppers

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing Sunday!

MotherOfDragonite · 08/03/2020 11:16

I have had another good weigh-in this morning. The miraculous thing about WW is that I actually ate half a cup cake yesterday and still lost weight! It always feels weird, like I should be suffering more to lose weight or something Grin

I won't count my chickens until weigh-in day on Wednesday though...

The plan for today... who am I kidding, there is no plan for today! But I might make pasta and veg for the kids tonight and have a low-pasta high-veg version for myself.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 08/03/2020 13:04

@Onceuponatimethen I can't do shakes either. I aim for under 800kcals a day, some days it's more, but never more than 1200.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 08/03/2020 19:47

Sorry I've been AWOL. Up a bit this weekend, to 70.7kg. really need to get back on it ; I could get to my target this month if I really tried! Waist measurement is a healthy 80 cm though, which I'm pleased about. Not really sure how that happened!
NSV: I got fed up with the end of my belt flapping about so dug out an old one which was always a bit small. I'm wearing it now and not even on the loosest hole. Smile

lboogy · 08/03/2020 19:48

I'm doing ivf through the nhs as a private patient but they have a bmi restriction of 30. I need to be 73kg for 1st April. I weight today and I've gone up to 76.5! So basically half a kg up from yesterday. I know weight fluctuates but given I've got less than a month to loose 4kg I can't afford for weight gain

Anyway, today I was on 500 calories all day.

B - coffee with milk + a Nescafé latte sachet (100 cal)

L- chicken drumsticks & veggies soup (300)

D - Nescafé latte (85 cal). I'm not hungry but debating whether to have soup for dinner

fractionated · 08/03/2020 20:07

@lboogy gosh that is stressful to have such an important deadline. But you are literally starving on that few calories 😳 surely that can't be a great preparation either... I wish the ivf clinic would take a more holistic view for women 🙁

SconNotScone · 08/03/2020 20:14

@cricketmum84 I love a picky tea too! I mostly managed to stay strong, had pizza and salad/veg, plus a little bit of garlic bread, as planned, then strawberries and one little brownie square for pudding - shop bought brownies, so I knew that the square was 43 calories, so easy to count into my calories. Overall dinner ended up being 650 cals, the rest of the day has gone fairly well, so I'm happy with that for a weekend dinner!
