Just checking in. No change today but that’s fine.

Your cat is an excellent diet buddy @cricketmum84!

Hi all, well done on losses and thank you for the motivation! I started last week at 10st 11lb and at weekly weigh in this morning I'm 10st 8lb, highly delighted with 3lb loss. Calorie counting to 1400/day max, 16:8, 10000 steps/day min and feeling good.

I hope everyone has a great week

recklessgran · 13/01/2020 23:08

Evening all. Just catching up - I've had a good day. This is my fast day so had a pork chop, brussels and roasted cauliflower for dinner followed by half a dozen blackberries.Nothing else apart from 2 litres water and a black coffee. Thanks so much to whoever it was that suggested roasting the cauliflower - it was delicious and will definitely be staying on the menu. Thanks also to John Lewis customer services who kept me on the phone for so long today that I managed 2,400 steps walking around the house whilst they finally got their shit together.
@AdventureTravelDreamer I think the swanky place is privately owned but I've taken on board what you said about negotiating - I'm usually quite good at that so might give it a go depending on the lie of the land.
@Somesortofzilla I'm so glad you're O.K. and look forward to your update when you have time.

cricketmum84 · 13/01/2020 23:29

Well done @ValentineFizz fantastic loss!

For anyone who had never tried it (I hadn't before tonight) celeriac mash is one of the most gorgeous things I have ever eaten. How have I never had it before??

Veg delivery arrived today. Very impressed with the freshness and quality. Kids have already got their hands all over me fruit lol and I keep snacking on raw mushrooms because they are so fresh and delicious!

Morning all. Need to be stricter with my snacking as weight is not moving this week but that is because as well as soup and bread from a cafe for lunch and veg and chickpea curry I also had 2 slice of toast with plant based spread and marmite, 2 oreos, about 4 or 5 starburst, and a cashew bar between getting in from work about 4.10 and eating dinner at 8.10 Blush I made a small attempt at rescuing by not having any rice with my curry but that was probably around 600 unplanned calories!! I did a fair amount of walking during that time window too as I walked to physio and back, then took the dog straight out for about 45 min walk, then walked DD round to her violin lesson but clearly not enough to counter balance all the snacking!!

Will try and be stronger today!

Lunch will be leftover curry and not sure about dinner. Tues are our busiest night and added in to hockey for DD and Explorers for DS I also need to pick up DH from the airport which is 45 mins away so won't actually stop driving from about 4 - 8 this evening Hmm Will make sure I only have healthy planned snacks with me in the car!

Have a good day everyone Smile

blubberball · 14/01/2020 07:08

Just wanted to join in here and say hello and good luck to everyone. Well done for any positive healthy changes you are making. Hoping to form new healthy habits. All the best.

bluepixie · 14/01/2020 07:27

Morning all. Am 11 stone! Agh! That’s 3 on. Hoping it’s off very quickly as I ate so many carbs and rubbish which I usually don’t. So hoping it’s water mainly (pleaseeee)
Report back tmrw
Oh @cricketmum84 I’ve not had it before either - just make it like usual mash?

Egghead68 · 14/01/2020 07:28

Morning. 65.1kg so up 0.7kg in yesterday (!)
Plan:
Toasted Brie sandwich (500 cals), veg green curry (600 cals), fruit & yoghurt (300 cals). Circuits class.

Have a good day everyone.

JessJonesJumps · 14/01/2020 07:35

Adventure I felt the same with my snacking last week so I ordered lots of healthy snacks for this week eg tiny coconut flakes, mange tout, etc.

Ihatesundays · 14/01/2020 08:04

Checking in. No change but keeping the weight off. Did an hour on the exercise bike last night.
We have a fairly light dinner on a Tuesday so sometimes has a good effect on the scales on a Wednesday morning. My scales batteries are low though! Disaster!

cricketmum84 · 14/01/2020 08:14

Morning all it's day 14!!

Halfway through the month and I'm still 1lb up on starting weight. I'll be honest I'm starting to feel like a complete failure now.

Plan for today is:
B - banana and satsuma
L - harissa roasted chickpeas on lettuce with sliced cucumber and radishes
D - broccoli and white bean pasta

2 litres of water before 1pm.

@Cream123 yep, chop and boil for about 20 mins then I mashed it with a teaspoon of flora plant based, salt and pepper. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Onesmallstep67 · 14/01/2020 09:48

Morning, back down to 15st 8lbs this morning ( -3lbs for January so far). Still struggling somewhat with craving sweet stuff but managed to swerve the biscuits ( mostly) yesterday and had a proper lunch instead. Weather is a bit pants for getting out in but have just plotted the walk to the doctor's and back as a 2 mile round trip so that will be today's exercise. Might do some more on the exercise bike this evening although I mostly find it tediously boring ( even when watching telly ) and painful around my nethers ! ( sorry TMI)
@cricketmum84, as someone who has been following this thread since September I know how focused you have been. I wish I had some clever tips or hints but I think as most of us realise this isn't as straightforward as it might sometimes appear ( eat less move more etc) You have done fantastically well and I'm sure your hard work will pay off - soon Wink

Crazzzycat · 14/01/2020 09:52

I weighed myself properly this morning and found that I’m 84.8 kg. It’s more than I was hoping for, but I won’t be letting myself get disheartened over that!

I had a good day yesterday and came in at 1400 kcal. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I guess my body still kind of remembers what it feels like to be a little bit hungry and knows not to focus on that too much 🤔

Saying that, I did wake up this morning thinking I was suffering from stomach cramps...turns out it was just my stomach complaining that it’s empty 😂

Egghead68 · 14/01/2020 10:06

@cricketmum84 I know how disheartening that must be. At least you are not gaining, which is something, and you are a long way down on your original weight.

Skyejuly · 14/01/2020 10:57

Hi all. I struggled yesterday afternoon but stayed strong. I think options hot choc saved me. I am literally crazed by thinking of food atm but it is time of the month so maybe why.

Not had brekkie. Trying to have early lunch instead. Going to have spinach and chickpea curry. No rice.

Not sure on dinner as son has a taster eve at college and will probably want macdonalds. I will resist. Might have to take some more curry out in the car!

JessJonesJumps · 14/01/2020 10:59

cricketmum iirc there's research that says it's harder to lose in the winter because of the cold weather's affect on metabolism and because there's less light, etc.
It's different for those of us who have just started because we are losing water, etc. Also, have you checked your measurements? Sometimes when you're not losing weight, you're losing inches instead.
1lb down here but I had no appetite yesterday. I couldn't work out what was wrong but turns out it's TOTM. I'm peri-menopausal so my cycle is haywire and I have no idea when to expect it.

JontyDoggle37 · 14/01/2020 11:54

Morning (just). Back down to 12st 3.5 after the weekend blip, which is still a 5lb loss for January so far. I’m doing really well at barely snacking at all, it helps I’m so busy at the moment. Had a Pret wrap and bag of crisps for lunch today as a treat, as I had enough calories and it was rubbish. They didn’t hve my favourite chicken and pesto on so had the Avo Chipotle one and It was just meh. I can’t eat bread out as they all use bread that has yeast preservatives in it and i react really badly to them and bloat terribly (in fine with gluten). So disappointed lol!☹️

recklessgran · 14/01/2020 12:02

Morning all. @cricketmum84 I'm so sorry you feel down today - please don't be as I think you're awesome - look how far you've come! Would it be worth trying OMAD for a couple of days of the week to see if that kickstarts you again? Sorry, just a suggestion but I'm a novice and view you as the expert. I agree with others about winter being hard - not helped by the wet weather that makes you want to hibernate.
I have DD2 and DGD aged 2 coming later for dinner. They are both vegan so I've shamefully bought Plant Food ready meals from M&S for them today as I have no imagination at all on account of being a good old fashioned cook only with no idea how to cook anything adventurous - I know I should learn.
I have overbought meat so need to get my act together and sort out the dates in the fridge. Think I'll be having salmon salad today and reckless cat will benefit from the 2 out of date chicken thighs. [Don't worry, I'm not about to poison him they're dated 13th]
Hope everyone has a good day today and will catch up later.

peachgreen · 14/01/2020 12:18

Afternoon all. I maintained overnight and decided that was okay but obviously subconsciously I was upset because I've massively sabotaged today. Was doing okay but then a friend came over with vegan brownies - left two (small) ones with me for DH and I and I just ate them both. Really cross at myself. Also ate DD's leftover jacket potato. Fish goujons for tea tonight so I'll skip the sweet potato fritters and just have fish and salad. Not that it'll help much. Gah.

Sorry you're not seeing as much progress as you'd like @cricketmum84. Sounds like you're doing really well diet wise so I'm sure it'll start coming off.

Skyejuly · 14/01/2020 12:49

For a vegan meal try the sri lankan curry. My kids love it x
