Oh I use ready made lentils in a packet as long as they are dry and not mushy! Anything is fine as long as not mushed! And a good amount of chilli to balance the soya!

JontyDoggle37 · 10/01/2020 08:07

@JessJonesJumps you haven’t jinxed me, I only ate one piece of toast that was ‘extra’ yesterday, so really pleased with myself for coping that well when I felt like eating the house, and I’m down again by Nearly half a pound today, so 12st 3.1 now.
@Cream123 well done on hitting that target!
@cricketmum84 the orzo sounds good, can you post the recipe if you haven’t already please?

cricketmum84 · 10/01/2020 08:08

I almost bought a sachet of puy lentils but then saw the big bags of green lentils on offer. Plus I'm planning on making a lentil cottage pie next week with celeriac mash so thought I can use them for that too :)

I only have rice vinegar - do you think that will be ok in place of the white wine vinegar?

@JontyDoggle37 it was the easiest recipe ever. It's from the vegan one pound meals book but he keeps throwing loads of olive oil in everything so I adapted it slightly!

For one portion (I have a little one portion frying pan)

Mist pan with cooking spray and lightly fry a small handful of sliced chestnut mushrooms, a crushed cloves of garlic and a pinch of dried oregano.
Once they are softened add a handful of dried orzo and let it absorb any juices like if you were making a risotto.
Add 75mls hot water and half a veg stock cube and cook until the orzo is done and all liquid absorbed, topping up the water if needed. Season with salt and pepper.

The starch that comes out of the orzo makes the liquid go really silky and creamy so you get a creamy pasta without actually adding any dairy.

A sprinkle or Parmesan (or vegan alternative) at the end gives it a lovely little kick too!

Down another 2lbs today 🎉🎉🎉

Love the first week 😂

Hoolahoophop · 10/01/2020 08:24

A friend told me yesterday that Tom Kerridge is coming to a local pub in a couple of weeks. I wonder if it's the same talk. I'll have to look into it.

That orzo is definitely going on my lunch recipie list cricketmum.

I'm just sat here chugging down water. But don't mind as it does help me to stop snacking. I've been very good so far and stayed on the waggon. So far 5lb down in Jan so hoping to continue for the month and hit my target. Weekends are always my downfall though.

Today I've had a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast, will have simple chicken salad for lunch, and am going to try salmon and sweetcorn frittas from the hairy dieters book for dinner. Hoping the kids will eat them as well as me and dh as they need more oily fish in their diet.

Happy Friday everyone Smile

MsTSwift · 10/01/2020 08:40

Was a large 14. Ordered ski saloupettes optimistically size 12. They are far too big!

recklessgran · 10/01/2020 09:03

Morning all. Down another .75lbs today after being stuck for a couple of days. Today might be dangerous as it's my day off and I'm out for lunch with a g/f - will try to be good.
@Cream123 no, I haven't roasted cauliflower yet but will give it a go - grateful for any tips to prevent boredom! I saw microwave steam fresh cauliflower rice in the freezer section of the supermarket so think I'll try some of that.
Have a good day everyone - will update later.
Waves to @somekindofzilla

Onesmallstep67 · 10/01/2020 10:09

Lots of lovely positive posts this morning, well done everyone.
I have had a mini whoosh and I am 15st 8lbs this morning. That's the lowest I have been so hoping I can maintain it for more than a day and keep going now. I am hoping I have eased myself out of the festive eating mindset - finally !
I had salmon and salad last night then my play rehearsal. Didn't feel hungry at all and avoided any snacking out of boredom at home. I also managed a session on the exercise bike, first time in ages. Must keep that up now and reinstate more walks. They definitely seem to boost my metabolism/help with weight loss. I know it's not rocket science but exercise has never been my thing.
In other news my daughter got a recall at one of her drama school auditions so that's given her ( and me )a lovely boost. Off to the cinema tonight with ( not so ) new man.
Have a great weekend everyone- when it gets here Smile

Tryingtwo · 10/01/2020 10:14

Good morning all, I looked for mushroom orzo recipes online last night and a lot of them contained butter and cheese so thanks for posting the recipe cricketmum84, I love mushroom pasta dishes so next time I go shopping I'll pick up some orzo.
The roasted cauliflower sounds good cream123, usually I eat it raw or covered in cheese sauce
Edging down again, another 0.4lb loss today.

cricketmum84 · 10/01/2020 10:38

So impressed at all these losses coming in! You are all doing so well ❤️💪👍

Egghgead that makes sense about building goals into maintaining.
I messed up my calorie counting yesterday, ended up quite a bit under but still put on 0.2lbs this morning 🤷‍♀️
Was out early for a meeting today and found a packet of chocolate raisins in my bag. I'm trying to stop myself from eating them all.
Onesmall fantastic news about your DD's recall. Fingers crossed for her.

Somesortofzilla · 10/01/2020 11:50

Afternoon everyone!

@recklessgran oh he'd be gone!!! How old are the DGC's? Can they help with the digging? I haven't started on the exercise yet, I need to get the food right and then move onto the exercise. Maybe end of next week Smile Can definitely vouch for the cauliflower, even the frozen cauliflower rice is delicious, I like to put it in soup to thicken it. Good luck today!

Congrats @DdJames @adventureTravelDreamer @Ihatesundays @Cream123 @BeyondFlubeInclusionaryRF @Hoolahoophop @MsTSwwift @Onesmallstep67

@Egghead68 good advice, something to think about when I reach my goal

@KnucklesMcGinty feck the scales, I was always told when I started (many MANY years ago) to never move the scales and always weigh in the same spot on a level tiled/wood floor, that is all I know of scales that and we don't get on) That's great news on the exercise and food plan! Do you think you'll start next week?

@cricketmum84 that sounds fab, must have a look and see what local suppliers are around me! Thanks for the recipe I'll have to give that a go

I had an ok day yesterday, I had some really bad sugar cravings and spent a lot of time walking to the cupboards checking the kids snacks. But I resisted, did have an options hot choc, marshmallows and meringue nest after dinner though. So my sweet tooth wasn't ignored! I'm doing up my shopping list tonight, then batch cook on Sunday after lunch. The weekends will be hard, worse still my small fella is turning 3 and his party is tomorrow. Planing a big BIG lunch before hand so I'm not tempted to pick. Wish me luck!

Today:
B Oats & Honey
L Chicken stir fry & Cous Cous
D Tandoori Salmon and Rice

Skyejuly · 10/01/2020 11:56

So not eaten today yet. Just going to have spinach, mushroom and baked spud because it's all I have in but I am becoming obsessive about carbs. I think mfp is bad for me !

bluepixie · 10/01/2020 12:26

Yes I use rice vinegar for it sometimes.hope it’s tasty!

KnucklesMcGinty · 10/01/2020 12:45

MsTSwift · 10/01/2020 13:34

Met friends today “Jesus you’re looking skinny” think may have gone abit far! Allowed myself fresh bread with my homemade soup instead of ryvita

Egghead68 · 10/01/2020 14:43

Great losses and NSVs. Great news about your daughter @Onesmallstep67.

Egghead68 · 10/01/2020 14:50

Shockingly unhealthy (but delicious) food for me today:
Pavlova & fruit 500; cauliflower fritters & cheese sauce 300; 2 chocolate thins 70; small veg spring roll 100; small curried potato pasty 500. I’m done now with food. Thankfully it is double exercise class tonight.

bluepixie · 10/01/2020 18:19

Ok so I’ve managed not too badly considering I’m away
Brekkie - decaf cap
Lunch - salad with some potato but rest was all the usual salad
Dinner - prawns some bread and tomato salad with lots of olive oil so prob high cals!

recklessgran · 10/01/2020 18:30

@somesortofzilla DGC are twins 14 and 11 year old - quite capable of digging if I confiscated their phones. I told DH he had been murdered on this thread and why and he denies saying anything of the sort [he's lying - I might be fat but there is nothing wrong with my hearing.] he says he said the man didn't ask if a fat person had been sitting on the chair. Whatever, luckily for him we've been married 43 years and he is normally a pussycat and the love of my life. So, he's forgiven and is lucky that I have a great self deprecating sense of humour.
Been good today and for lunch had a ham and cheese salad [naked - by that I mean no dressing or coleslaw] and a J.D and diet coke.[This was prior to a visit to my DM which generally requires alcohol in advance of said visit.]
Plan to have chicken mini fillets with a splash of creamy white wine sauce, runner beans and buttered mushrooms for dinner this evening.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Fizzypoo · 10/01/2020 19:09

I've been doing well this week on 1200 - 1300 calories... until this evening. Beer and miss millie's for my tea! I have sort of counter acted that by only having toast for breakfast and skipping lunch.

JessJonesJumps · 10/01/2020 19:13

I was unexpectedly asked to pitch for a project today so the afternoon completely disappeared and I ended up eating thin slices of ham from the packet as I rushed around. Not ideal.
I haven't even started making dinner yet and I need to fit in a circuits video. Wish me luck because all I want to do is lie on the sofa watching trashy TV!

cricketmum84 · 10/01/2020 23:24

So I'm not sure that 16:8 works for me. Looking back my losses have completely stalled since I started doing it.

Thinking I'm going to introduce healthy breakfasts. Alpro yoghurt and berries (0 points) with a sprinkle of granola on top.

I'm going to try it for a week and see what happens!

OP posts:
cobwebsoncornices · 10/01/2020 23:57

Anyone else a bit worried about the temptations the weekend might bring? Although my food has been OK this week, over time at work has meant that I haven't been able to get to the gym in two occasions so I need a healthy good weekend to get a good result on the scales on Monday.
