Hello lovely losers!

Welcome to the January edition of "lose 7lbs or 3kgs a month" link to previous thread is here

Lose 7lbs/3kgs a month! The December instalment! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3756861-lose-7lbs-3kgs-a-month-the-december-instalment

All are welcome here, oldies, newbies, lurkers and watchers. There is a huge range of starting weights and weight loss methods.

All I ask for is the same positivity and support that we have seen on every thread so far.

My stats are:
Starting weight: 18.13
Jan target: 18.6
Loss for December: maintained
Loss so far: 6 stone 5lbs

I'll be following 16:8 and WW purple plan.

Let's get ready to smash January! (As soon as the cheese and trifles have gone 😂)

Well done on all the losses and on the maintaining!

I'm down 0.3lb from yesterday. I was checking back over my weight record for the last few years and it's so clear to see (from this perspective) that from the point where I had my accident, my weight has just gradually crept up...and up ... and up. This year, I obviously need to focus on finding an exercise regime that works with a dodgy back and hip - possibly water-based.

Egghead68 · 06/01/2020 13:04

I’m having one of those days.
Already eaten ALL my food for the day plus a cheese sandwich and some trifle. I think it’s hormonal (forgot to change my HRT patch).
Mushroom stew 450 nutty salad 380 edamame beans 180 sandwich 500 salad 30 trifle 250 - 1790 calories. Will have to try to salvage this at the gym tonight.

Somesortofzilla · 06/01/2020 13:12

Afternoon everyone!

I've been quite bad with checking in, but the kids are back to school and I'm back to work so no excuses!

I started on Wednesday, was quite good until yesterday evening and I had a moment, which ended in 2 selection boxes and the last of the wine! On the plus side, there are no more selection boxes n the house, so really I was doing myself a service.

I'll be grand today though, inadvertently doing a FD (hadn't planned until tomorrow) but a client requested a meeting so here I am. I'm working on 5:2 method, looks like people had good results with that and 16:8 and to be honest, not eating for 16 hours each day seems like a lot right now!.

B Water, black coffee
L Chicken and lime 214cal
D undecided!

Good luck everyone!

Cath2907 · 06/01/2020 13:14

Starting weight: 12st 6lb
Jan target: 11st 13lb
Loss for December: 5lb gain :(
Today: 12st 2lb (4lb loss)

Plan = Healthy eating and more exercise. No snacking.

CtrlAltDelight · 06/01/2020 13:49

Ooo... I need to join in. Since coming back to work after mat leave, I've undone all the good work that breastfeeding had achieved! Too many cake days and too much sitting down has seen my weight creep up.

Starting weight as at 01/01/20: 11st 12lbs
January target: 11st 5lbs
Ultimate target (by May): 10st 5lbs

Plan:

Stock the house with nutritious food
Actually eat the nutritious food - meal plan after food shopping
Take lunch into work instead of mooching to Tesco for microwave rubbish
Log everything on MyFitnessPal
Run-commute 2.5 miles three times a week (I walk it at present)
Ensure I do 10000 steps a day, even at the weekend
Depressingly... dry January to try and kick start the weightloss

Off to aquafit for a splash around tonight.

JontyDoggle37 · 06/01/2020 13:51

@JessJonesJumps maybe some yoga? Yoga with Adriene on YouTube offers yoga for every body issue going.

MsTSwift · 06/01/2020 14:25

Ctrl your weight is exactly where I was at my medical in Oct 8th. Am now 10 st 2 and feel great.

Slightly evangelical about the Michael Mosley fast 800. Once I set my mind to something I want to get on with it so this approach worked really well for me as the results fast and motivating. Good luck!

MsTSwift · 06/01/2020 14:27

You can get to your target by March...

Tryingtwo · 06/01/2020 14:32

Egghead68 you have my sympathies, I'm really hungry today and trying really hard to resist eating everything. In addition to breakfast and lunch so far I've had a packet of baked crisps, a babybel and a bag of skinny popcorn. I'm sipping water and if that doesn't work I'll have a satsuma. Off on school run soon to pick up dgs1 - hopefully he will distract me.

naturistmum · 06/01/2020 14:45

Hi there - a newbie here

Combination of SW and 5:2

Start weight (May 19) - 16st
Current weight (Jan 20) - 11st 4lbs
Jan target - 10st 13lbs
Final target - 10st 7lbs

I have gone from a size 20/22 to a 12/14 but want to be a comfortable 12. I tend to use clothes to judge how I am doing and have a skirt that will be the ultimate test of where I want my weight to be - once that fits comfortably, that's the weight I want to stick at! I can't get the zip up yet.

Have been struggling to get my mojo back after Christmas (put on 6lbs) but back to SW class on Wed so hoping for a loss. If I can achieve my goal of 10st 13lbs by the end of the month I'll have lost just over 5 stone in 9 months.

JessJonesJumps · 06/01/2020 15:16

@JontyDoggle37 thanks for the tip. I'll have a look at the youtube channel tonight. I definitely need to work on my flexibility too!

Egghead68 · 06/01/2020 16:20

Thanks Tryingtwo. Some days are just like that, aren't they? Sounds like you are being very sensible with your snacks.

I'm going to try to burn around 400 calories at the gym (running and a class) to get back on track for the day.

Upupandiwent · 06/01/2020 17:49

Weighed this morning and I'm under 12 stone, at 11.13! I've lost 4 lb over the last week or so.
naturistmum you've had a fantastic weight loss. You must feel great. Won't be long before you're in your skirt. I've got so e jeans I want to get back into, at the moment I can only just get them over my hips!

Ihatesundays · 06/01/2020 18:47

No change (as usual) and an incredibly hard day being back at work.
Didn’t work out last night as felt rough. Need to make myself tonight do day 4 of 5 of my new year challenge.
Feeling a bit tired - sure I was at work for 85 hours..

beforeIhit30 · 06/01/2020 22:51

Congrats @recklessgran I did very similar to you last year and it worked very well for me (I’m also hypothyroid and found ‘lazy keto’ as you call it Grin or low fat high carb good for symptoms too). I only changed because of pregnancy - not that I was worried about LCHF in pregnancy, but because I had HG so was horrendously ill and just focused on getting through each day! I’m now gradually shifting pregnancy weight. I didn’t gain loads from eating terribly, given the sickness, but I was practically sedentary for most of my pregnancy which really didn’t help.

I do LCHF now - keto works on the basis of your diet consisting of 5% carbs or fewer, LCHF doesn’t have a set number although some tracking apps will put carbs in the 10-15% range. That’s where I stick, some days I’m under 5% (somehow I end up being around 3% regularly), but I go up to 14% sometimes. I think around the 10% mark is good as then I’m having a lot more veg and dairy variety, which is more limited if trying to keep under 5% carbs (5% is about 20g net carbs, 100ml of milk or natural yoghurt is about 5g already).

Still tracking as a few things took me by surprise lately, so want to be sure I’m familiar with the composition of the foods I eat.

recklessgran · 06/01/2020 23:19

@beforeIhit30 thank you. So far so good. I can't be doing with the tracking lark but I am keeping a food diary - this records my weight, food and drink consumed and my steps. I think this makes me accountable to myself but actually I'm finding this thread is lovely and supportive and contributing in a big way to me keeping myself on the wagon. I'm in it for the long haul. I'm viewing this as my last attempt at getting my weight down. I can't understand it as I've had 5 children and pinged back to a size 10 every time with not so much as a stretch mark to show for it. Then got to 50 and put on a stone a year for 4 years and here I am at 63 still carrying round all that weight and sporting a huge bread baby. I'm looking forward to being able to put on my own tights without a struggle!.

DownUdderer · 07/01/2020 04:18

I’m gaining then losing two pounds over and again! Honestly it’s hard to get my head in the game this week, it’s my TOTM and I’m just trying to be good but failing a little bit!

JontyDoggle37 · 07/01/2020 06:01

@Upupandiwent that’s a great milestone to get past we’ll done!
@DownUdderer are you eating the same food all the time? Might be time for a change up...
I had a good day yesterday, apart from eating 3 large potato wedges left on DH’s dinner 😳.
Down by 1.8lbs this morning to 12 stone 6.8, my goal for end of Jan is to be just under 12 stone so got to stick at it!
I’ve got a posh frock do on 7th March, so I’m targeting 11stone 7 for that date.

JontyDoggle37 · 07/01/2020 06:03

Just a thought - what tends to happen on these threads is quite a few people drop off because they have a bad day and give up. If we could each identify an ‘accountability buddy’, we could watch out for each other posting every day, and if we don’t post, our buddy could DM us to check if we’re alright, maybe talk through any issues and help each other get back on track. Thoughts?

cricketmum84 · 07/01/2020 07:15

I love that idea @JontyDoggle37

Hi everyone. Newbie here. I've joined 16:8 thread but checking in here too to keep up motivation. Finally decided to stop being lazy an do something about the extra stone I'm carrying since second child. I'm overseas and my scales only do kgs so I'm doing it that way!
Starting weight: 75.5 kg
Jan target: 72 kg
Loss for December: NA (started this on the 31st)
Loss so far: currently at 73.8 kg

I'm doing 16:8 as well as increasing gym visits. No snacks and no junk food and no booze.

Egghead68 · 07/01/2020 07:36

65.2kg (up 0.4kg)
Plan
B: Fruit salad, meringue 500 cals
L: 2 M&S salads 550 cals
D: Tbc
Circuits class, possibly a mini-run

lilgreen · 07/01/2020 07:59

Hi everyone, I’m still here. I went up a few lbs after being 1lb away from target and decided to wait until back to work and routine so today is it! Been ill as has whole house, plus totm so I haven’t weighed this morning-forgot and now eaten and dressed so will do tomorrow. Good luck all!
B: 1 crumpet with tsp wholenut peanut butter, small banana
L: rye bread and small avocado, apple
D: Not sure

cobwebsoncornices · 07/01/2020 08:02

May I join? Your threads look as though they have longevity and there are some amazing weight losses on here which should help to keep me on the straight & narrow.
I have had a very indulgent few weeks and need to lose the 7lbs I gained over Xmas as well as the 8-10lbs I'd already been planning on losing before then. I have PCOS so my weight loss is usually slow ... although laziness, greed and a lack of will power don't help either!
Starting weight is 11st 6. Aim for the end of the month is 10st13 as I'm hoping for a bit of a "whoosh". Aim is 10st 4 for Easter.
I'll be doing calorie counting. MFP says 1200 but I'm going to have 1300 as that seems to be the difference between manageable hunger and being hangry for me. I'm hoping to avoid all sugary snacks for Jan and keep carbs and dairy low as they all cause bloating and some of the tyre around my middle is simply bloating.
I've come up with an exercise plan which should be manageable but then slept through my alarm this morning!

Ihatesundays · 07/01/2020 08:05

Just checking in so I don’t lose you all. 72kg on the button again....
