@recklessgran that’s amazing. I’ve heard great things re Keto. I don’t do Keto but do low carbs and it def helps move the weight faster. I’m trying to make it a lifestyle change as in past as soon as I start some carbs the weight goes back on!

Just have my low fat feta salad it’s so tasty but it’s finished and. I still feel hungry! Sparkling water time

recklessgran · 05/01/2020 13:28

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments - it means a lot to me. I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself but I can't help feeling a bit excited about this. I know that even if I'm successful [There's a long way to go yet but if cricketmum can do it so can I, right?] I won't be able to go back to my old ways. @Cream123 I've read that once you are at your goal weight you need to introduce one carb element to one of your meals a day and then see after a week if you have gained. If so, you have to try alternate days etc until you find your maintenance level. Mmm, well that's a long way off anyway! For now, I'm trying to get the water down but I've just spent an hour and a half on the phone to DSis having a catch up so I've lost some ground there. Hope everyone's having a good day.

bluepixie · 05/01/2020 13:35

That’s Prob where I’m going wrong then! I just start eating normally in celebration of loosing weight! Or holiday happens or Xmas or a wedding and then I fall off and don’t get back on. Really not doing that this time...
How many carbs a day do u roughly eat? And is it net carbs or just carb carbs you count? You can def do it! Ur loss should motivate u to keep going.

I’m finally full post some sparkling water and half a dark choc rice cake yummmmy!

recklessgran · 05/01/2020 14:14

Oh Gawd - now I've got to own up! I don't count anything I just eat whatever I want that's an allowed food on Keto. So obviously no bread, pasta, rice, cereal, potatoes, biscuits, crackers, cake, sugar, fruit apart from a few berries, also no parsnips, carrots etc. I'm having 2 meals a day as a rule so usually one is egg based - bacon, egg and mushrooms cooked in butter or scrambled egg and bacon and then something like a pork chop and selection of green vegetables or a chicken stir fry with a sprinkling of low carb soy sauce for dinner. After that, if I get the crave for something sweet I have a sugar free jelly and/or 2 squares of very dark [over 85%] chocolate which I'm classing as my treat.[ I've probably wanted this 3 nights of the 6 so far that I've been on this.] Add a couple of black coffees and 3 litres of water and that's pretty much it. I'm not hungry at all which I am shocked by, but there you are. No need for snacks but if so then you can have a slice of ham or a chunk of cheese. You do need to remember though that I'm 63, not running around after little ones and not very active either. I figure that I'm so enormous that my body has plenty of stores plus I needed a quick fix as I'm naturally impatient [but only with myself!]

bluepixie · 05/01/2020 15:06

Thanks for sharing! I do similar but with fruit and veg I want-hence it’s not Keto but just low carb.
Am having a hungry day
Must stay strong till pesto cod and courgette!

Vebrithien · 05/01/2020 15:37

Afternoon all,
Having a lazy afternoon, after taking the Christmas decorations down this morning. The house looks both bare and tidier for it. 3yo DD is wandering around, muttering to herself that she can't find the tree!
All quiet on the food front there, looking forward to a nice dinner tonight, if the nausea subsides. Am back to work tomorrow, so back to normal eating patterns, which I think will help.

Had a massive victory at my booking in appointment, not only was my blood pressure low, but also I'm don't have a single risk factor for pre-eclampsia (unlike with DD). So super happy at that. Also don't need to have a glucose tolerance test done.

Good luck to everyone returning to work or who have DC returning to school tomorrow.

Hoolahoophop · 05/01/2020 19:39

Some amazing success stories since I last visited the thread. It's really inspiring. I'm 2lb down over 5 days so happy with that. Back to work tomorrow, am going to try and make it a fasting day.

tibni · 05/01/2020 19:46

Hi all, well done on all the losses. My scales are going down, not exactly sure how much as dd borrowed scales to weigh her suitcase. She left today for second half of her year abroad. Tomorrow I start a new job that is a couple of grades higher and in a slightly different work area plus a location I don't know. Got to resist emotional eating and have faith in myself!

Egghead68 · 05/01/2020 20:25

Good luck tomorrow @tibni!

Great news @Vebrithien.

Nicely done on the losses @Hoolahoophop, @recklessgran and everyone else!

7Worfs · 05/01/2020 21:44

Good luck, tibni!

I’m also starting a new job at the end of my mat leave in April and am very excited!

JessJonesJumps · 05/01/2020 22:02

That's brilliant news Vebrithien !
I didn't do much today as the weather was miserable but I had an ok day with food:
Brunch: french toast
Dinner: Nigella chicken and pea traybake with mashed turnip
Snack: rice cakes & 2 mini chocolates

DCs are back to school tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to the 6.am rise Sad

tibni good luck for your new role! Flowers

Megsmcgoo · 05/01/2020 22:12

Considerable lack of posts from me which i hope to get better at, nice to see lots of motivation, I’m hoping it’ll spur me on too!

B - weetabix and banana with semi skimmed milk
L - Ww tomato soup and 2 cracker breads
D - lamb kofta and halloumi flatbreads with a load of salad.
Fruit and some chocolate within points

Does anyone have a wii switch? My boyfriend got me the ring fit for Christmas and I love it! Would really recommend it for some fun exercise, I burnt 250 calories in half an hour earlier and needed to lie down afterwards 😂

Going to start the c25k tomorrow (again) and will be cycling to work more as part of my new year goals AND I have the first of my CrossFit PT sessions on Friday which I’m slightly nervous but excited about.

Here’s a good week for everyone

cricketmum84 · 05/01/2020 22:23

Good luck for tomorrow @tibni

recklessgran · 05/01/2020 22:29

Good luck tomorrow @tibni - I hope you enjoy it and the change is enough to take your mind off your DD having taken off again. It's hard isn't it? I've got 5 adult DD's and have lost count of the number of teary airport runs we've done over the years, but the homecomings are always fab!
@Vebrithien really routing for you and mini veb - everything crossed for you. Sounds as though this time will be good - take it easy! Bless your DD looking for the tree, that really made me smile.

DownUdderer · 06/01/2020 04:14

I’m trying to be mindful with food today. I’ve had avocado on toast with deli chicken and a babybell for lunch. I’ve got to focus on healthy snacks.

JontyDoggle37 · 06/01/2020 05:51

Hi @DownUdderer that sounds like a good plan re snacks. Back on plan today, trying to start again while the family were still off was a disaster. 12 st 8.6 pounds today, heaviest I’ve ever been. If ever there was a kick in the pants this is it. Meals are planned for the day, having 2 coffees this morning, one tea at bedtime and water the rest of the time. Really frustrated as my ankle is not good again which means I can’t exercise easily - going to see a physio tonight to find out what I can do to sort it.

Egghead68 · 06/01/2020 06:27

Morning. 64.8kg.
Plan:
B: Fruit, meringue 450 cals
L: Nutty salad, fruit salad 420
D: Mushroom stew 460
Bodyblast and a short run.

tibni · 06/01/2020 07:22

Thank you all for your good wishes
@recklessgran it is hard and yesterday was even more stressful as m4 was stationary - they were lucky to get their flights but they missed baggage drop.
Juggling work with disabled ds is hard, it's only been last 5 years that I returned full time and started to climb career ladder having always worked around dc's.
Weight wise - 6llb off since 1st so pleased with that. I know it's first week water weight and I will now settle into a pound ish a week but it's a good boost!
Have a good day all Smile

HRHPrincessMegan · 06/01/2020 08:04

Good luck tibni.

Weighed myself this morning against my better judgement. I ate quite a lot of seeded whole meal baguette yesterday so knew that it wasn’t good to be good news. Gained a pound. Precisely half of what I’d lost in the previous 5 days. Today I’m off to boot camp and will be mindful of the carbs. Still chuffed that I haven’t had any chocolate this New Year despite lots of it still laying about the house.

Happy Monday all.

cricketmum84 · 06/01/2020 08:25

Morning my lovely losers and happy Monday!

Grumpy week for me as I used all my extra weekly points at the weekend and they don't reset until Saturday so no treats allowed :( on the plus side I had the most gorgeous vegan chocolate last night that I had been bought for Christmas 😉

Plan for today is
Am - lots of water and a green tea with lemon
L - homemade multi seed cracker with avocado, chilli and lime. (DH picked me up some frozen chopped avo at the weekend and it's an absolute game changer!)
D - lentil and spinach Dahl (point free)

@tibni that's an amazing loss so far! Well done!!

Onesmallstep67 · 06/01/2020 09:17

Happy Monday everyone. Well done on all the great early efforts in January and the impressive losses some of you are seeing.
I'm still 15st 11lbs having dipped over the weekend by a couple of pounds. Not been fully trying for ages so I have nothing to complain about. Hoping to get back on track from today.
On the positive side, my first play rehearsal went well and new man is still on the scene so he's been providing a very pleasant distraction. just had wholemeal toast and marmalade for breakfast. I find it difficult to either fast or eat a very low cal breakfast. I find it easier to limit calories with my later meals by bulking up with lots of veg or salad. My downfall is rewarding myself for a good day with snacks in the evening, usually when I am not even hungry. Must try harder with my willpower. Getting through the first day back on any regime is the most difficult I find.
good luck to lots of us who have deemed today to be the restart !

7Worfs · 06/01/2020 09:37

Morning! Smile

Still 0.1 kg heavier than my lowest from 5 days ago, so no progress made in a week.
I’ve got to reduce calories a bit.

bluepixie · 06/01/2020 09:55

Morning. Same here 10.11.5 least my Xmas bloat is gone.
@Onesmallstep67 I’m the same. Good all day. Put DS to bed and then decide a snacking binge is a good idea! It’s terrible. I’m trying to keep busier in evenings (sorted wardrobe yest!) so it happens less and also having sugar free jelly if I have to have something.
Plan today
B - smoothie with fruit and almond milk
Lunch - humous and egg and Avacado salad
Dinner - left over cod and veg from yest
Hoping for 950 cals. On a weekend break at weekend really want to be 10.11 at least by then and planning on staying low carb and only 1 drink a night!

recklessgran · 06/01/2020 10:05

Morning - this is my weekly weigh day.
Last week 14st 3.75lbs
Today 13st 11.25lbs
6.5lbs lost. That's the best I've ever done in a week so I'm sticking with this lazy keto diet as it obviously suits me. I know it's all water but I'm still thrilled. I'm going to revise my target for January down to 13st 5.75lbs which will mean I need to lose another 5.5lbs over the next 3 weeks and would mean a total loss of 12lbs for the month. Hoping that will be doable as there are a couple of family birthdays with big meals out between now and then.
Happy Monday everyone.

Tryingtwo · 06/01/2020 10:27

Good morning all, I've maintained yesterday's loss and finishing drinking water at 6.00pm meant I didn't have to get up in the night so win win Smile
