Hello lovely losers!

Welcome to the January edition of "lose 7lbs or 3kgs a month" link to previous thread is here

Lose 7lbs/3kgs a month! The December instalment! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3756861-lose-7lbs-3kgs-a-month-the-december-instalment

All are welcome here, oldies, newbies, lurkers and watchers. There is a huge range of starting weights and weight loss methods.

All I ask for is the same positivity and support that we have seen on every thread so far.

My stats are:
Starting weight: 18.13
Jan target: 18.6
Loss for December: maintained
Loss so far: 6 stone 5lbs

I'll be following 16:8 and WW purple plan.

Let's get ready to smash January! (As soon as the cheese and trifles have gone 😂)

Thanks @beforeihit30, it's a nice reminder to not put too much pressure on myself!

I've got a "mummy MOT" on Monday. Where they check out how you're recovering after birth, pelvic floor etc. Hoping to have some pointers of how I can get in a better place and going to ask if my mum tum is all day, or if there is anything else I need to be doing!

I've always been overweight but never this big and never felt this bad about myself! Feeling motivated.... for now! 😂

beforeIhit30 · 04/01/2020 20:57

Ooh let us know how it goes! They offer the MOT at a place I go to for physio, but I’ll be honest, I’m slightly terrified of it, which is ridiculous. But I’m so over internal exams! I’ve given birth 3 times now, smear tests as required, and I had a long (albeit reasonably pleasant) labour with DC3, but the length of time meant I kept being checked, swept, had membranes ruptured etc... I’m just so done with having someone rummage around my downstairs Confused

It sounds really useful, I’m sure it will be very helpful in supporting your next steps and things to focus on Smile

(To @vixb1 obviously)

JessJonesJumps · 04/01/2020 21:47

I've had a rubbish day. I was at DM's. She's been ill so we're trying to encourage her to eat as she is tiny (size 6) but it means we have to eat too ... so I've had:
L: vegan sausage roll; half doughnut
D: pumpkin stuffed pasta and salad
Snacks: 4 mini chocs
And I still feel hungry! I think that's the problem with carb-heavy days, they leave you wanting more rather than feeling sated.

Egghead68 · 05/01/2020 07:27

Morning. 64.9kg
Plan
B: Fruit, leftover meringue 450
L: Cashew curry, Brie, salad 650
D: tbc

HRHPrincessMegan · 05/01/2020 07:59

Morning All

I was hesitant to weigh myself this morning as we had friends over for dinner last night. I showed restraint with portions but finished off with a large slice of cake. I’m 10st 11lbs, 2lbs less than when I started, so no lasting damage. I did a 4 mile run in the afternoon.

Plan today. Short run with kids. Food wise back to MFP calorie suggested limit and no sweet stuff.

bluepixie · 05/01/2020 08:18

Morning all. Xmas weight off. Phew. Am 10.11.5. Gets harder now!
Went out last night improtmu meal out but I was good and ordered a starter portion of fish and just had that. Was actually huge and I was quite full and only had one spoon of the pudding (!)

Brekkie - yoghurt and fruit
Lunch - am out so just gonna have a protein bar as on the go
Dinner - my cod and veg from yest I didn’t get chance to cook!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 05/01/2020 08:30

Hi all, can I rejoin please. I was on this thread last summer but stopped in Sept when I went in to holiday mode and I don't seem to have come out of it!!

Today is my birthday so I am not actually planning on starting until tomorrow but need some accountability as I am the heaviest I have ever been and for the first time in my life I am 'overweight' according to bmi Sad

I know there is more to life than bmi, and I also realise there are lots of people with a bigger task ahead than me, but it still feels like a big deal to me!!

Starting weight - 11st 2lbs

Goal by end of Jan - 10st 9lbs

I haven't read through the whole thread yet but will do that now. Plan is simply to eat less and move more!!

KnucklesMcGinty · 05/01/2020 08:43

In spite of the waffle it looks like I lost a kg, which is quite frankly miraculous, given the week I've had.

KnucklesMcGinty · 05/01/2020 08:46

Here's one to cheer you up this morning. Grin

Happy birthday Adventure Wine Gin

I'm down another half pound so 1.5 since Thurs. If the rain stays off (which is currently looking unlikely) I'm going to do some gardening or try to persuade DS to do a treasure trail/spy mission. Food will mainly be soup or salad. Have a good day everyone!

7Worfs · 05/01/2020 09:53

Happy birthday, @AdventureTravelDreamer Smile

I’m 0.5kg heavier than my lightest from 2 days ago, hope it’s a blip!

Just completed a 17h fast, feeling quite tired as I don’t sleep enough.

Today’s plan:
B - porridge with banana and dark cherries
L - mushroom omelette, orange, maybe a bit of dark chocolate
D - baked salmon with roasted parsnips and broccoli

recklessgran · 05/01/2020 10:09

Morning. Another .75lbs down this morning making a total of 6lbs since last Monday when I started. I'm really pleased as I didn't think that was possible. Anyway, I'm having really bad nights on account of waking up for the loo. This is because I'm drinking 3 litres of water a day as recommended for someone of my weight on keto. So, I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I'm going to be mindful of this today and try to drink all the water by 6.00pm in order to knock out this night time up and down!

cricketmum84 · 05/01/2020 10:13

Happy birthday @AdventureTravelDreamer hope you have a lovely day! And welcome back 💪

Taking the tree and decorations down today which is giving me January blues. And already dreading tomorrow morning and the drama from my eldest who is a long term school refuser. I don't eat very well when I'm stressed or emotional.

Broken the fast early today as I'm having a coffee with soy milk rather than green tea. I only have one meal on a Sunday - today it's no porkies sausages, mashed potato, cauliflower and green beans. I've got plenty of fruit in if I need anything inbetween.

Love the quote 😂😂

That's a fantastic loss so far @recklessgran !!

DownUdderer · 05/01/2020 10:23

I cooked something that tasted gross for my dinner, I had to bin it. I had a few biscuits instead coz I was pissed off!

recklessgran · 05/01/2020 10:23

@Thankyou @cricketmum84 I'm honestly shocked myself as I didn't really believe all the keto hype plus I'm hypothyroid too which also makes weight loss an issue. I'm in it for the long haul and just hope I can keep it up. [I have form for falling off the wagon at the slightest excuse so we'll see.] I have to say that I'm inspired by my own loss not least because I haven't been hungry at all. I'm a bit of a lazy cow though so do need to up my activity. I'm averaging about 2,000 steps a day at the moment which is appalling really. Live in a village, have an interesting desk job and drive absolutely everywhere. NO excuse though, just lazy!

DownUdderer · 05/01/2020 10:37

Recklessgran if I drink as much water as I'm supposed to, I'm also up multiple times at night to pee. I think if I drank more earlier on in the day it'd be better.

cricketmum84 · 05/01/2020 10:42

Water wise - I drink 2 full pints of water on a morning before I set off for work. Then I'm rubbish during the day and only manage another 2 pints over 8-9 hours. However I hardly ever need to get up during the night so I think loading it up early helps!

I also read an article that suggested that drinking cold water as soon as you wake up helps with fat burning. The water lowers the temperature in your digestive system which then makes your body have to fire up to bring the temperature back up. You also concentrate better when properly hydrated.

Upupandiwent · 05/01/2020 10:45

Wow, that's a fantastic weight loss, recklessgran . I think i need to drink more water.
I've put on half a pound since yesterday. I had a takeaway at my friends, there was quite a few people there and a lot of food! I ended up having grilled chicken but also one or two other bits and pieces lije a poppadom, samosa and a bhaji. Oops!
Back on it today though. I've got a fridge full of healthy food ready for the week.

Tryingtwo · 05/01/2020 11:20

Happy Birthday AdventureTravelDreamer
Great loss RecklessGran. I've started to drink 3.5 - 4 pints of water each day and I'm having the same problem as you. Not drinking after 6.00pm seems a good idea.
I had my Saturday takeaway and ate quite late as dh was late back so ended up eating pickled beetroot and nuts (not at the same time) to stave off hunger pangs. I seem ti have lost quite a bit today but Ivm not recording it until it's maintained for a couple of days because frankly it's too good to be true.

Raindrops13 · 05/01/2020 11:25

I'd like to join in. I'm determined to shed some of my excess weight before my big 50 birthday this year.

Starting weight 83kg
January target 80kg
Final target 70kg

I'm planning on around 1500 calories per day and have also signed up for Red January to get me moving a bit more.

Good luck everyone, first weight day will be Thursday.

Endoftethermum1 · 05/01/2020 12:05

I’m a bit late to the scene but would like to have a go at joining (& sticking!) to this thread!
Height 168 cm
Starting weight: 77.5kg
January goal: 74.5kg
End goal: 70kg
I’ve managed my first 2.7mile run this morning after 3 months off due to illness, god it was hard! I was looking at the couch to 5Km app but it’s too slow a work up for me- I’m too impatient!
How to I avoid the temptation of leftover kids chocolate in the house for snacking? I’ve chopped up a pineapple and it’s in the fridge for a sweet treat! Fingers crossed I have the willpower this month

Endoftethermum1 · 05/01/2020 12:06

raindrops I see we have the same target so good luck!

Ihatesundays · 05/01/2020 12:29

No change, but my period has started.
Did do Fitness Blender day 3 of 5 challenge last night. Worried how hungry I am going to be at work tomorrow, I can cope better at home!
