Morning all! And welcome to the December edition of lose 7lbs!

A huge to welcome to the newbies, long term followers and contributors and the lurkers!

I would dearly love to lose 7lbs in December but accepting that I'm probably going to relax things a little, have some chocolate or some cheese, mulled wine and stollen.

I will still be following ww and 16:8 most days. I'm also going to try stay mostly vegan with the exception of local eggs which I think should help me stay on track!

Stats are:
Dec starting weight: 18.13
Dec target weigh: 18.7
Loss for November: 3lbs
Loss for 2019: 6stone 5lbs

Happy December to all and let's get our festive groove on!

No weight loss to report today either, pah!

Had a delicious bowl of porridge with banana and frozen black cherries in, really brightened my morning.

cricketmum84 · 08/12/2019 11:43

@DownUdderer I like grapes or blueberries at the cinema :)

Welcome @JontyDoggle37 and @Constantbronchitislaryngitis.

I don't eat meat or dairy, trying to be vegan (also eat local eggs) but I keep getting sidetracked by cheese and occasional bit of fish :)

I meal prep on a weekend and do batches of very quick and easy lentil chillis, chickpea curry, roasted veg, tomato pasta sauces and then freeze in portions with cooked brown rice or quinoa or wholewheat Cous Cous.

For the wine fails - mix with sparkling water so you don't drink as much or switch to gin and diet tonic to reduce calories.

As for fattening treats, if they aren't in the house you can't eat them! Fill the fruit bowl and keep it out on the table so you see it first in the kitchen when you need a quick snack. I treat myself to more expensive fruit so it feels like a proper treat lol, this time of year things like pomegranate and figs are lovely.

Think about reducing fat in everyday meals, lower fat spread, using fry light for cooking.

What about downloading a free calorie counting app like my fitness pal and tracking everything you eat and drink, it can help give you some control over your intake :)

Thank you for the welcomes. Got up and weighed this morning. 12st 6lbs. Officially the exact same weight as I was the day after my son was born 4.5 years ago, except I lost 2.5 stone after he was born and have now put it all back on without the excuse of pregnancy, and over a stone of that has been in the last 12 months. I did 30 minutes on the cross trainer and 15 minutes of weights as well, and planned all my food for the day. I’ve also mentally committed to an hours exercise a day, 5 days a week - I’ve previously said ‘oh I only have time for twenty minutes’, which I’ve realised is alternative words for ‘I’m not prioritising my health’. So an hour a day, 5 days a week. Exercise endorphins will help me stay on track with food as well. I was also getting through 3 bottles of wine a week. This week I’ve reduced that to 2 bottles and next week the target is one bottle, which will put me well within the NHS healthy drinking guidelines. Feels good to have a plan, and to be part of a supportive group on here.

I’m feeling in a good frame of mind ready for the week ahead. Have blitzed house, done a menu plan for week ahead, written a shopping list for shop tomorrow ( which I AM going to stick too) and have decided to weigh myself on Monday and Friday mornings. Thinking behind this for me is if Friday weight is on track it will encourage me not to blow all my hard work hoovering up food and wine over weekend. Then on Monday morning hoping to see a number on scales I like. Some really good ideas on posts here too which I’m trying to take on board.

So pleased I’ve decided to start before Christmas and not after. I know for me after failed attempts to lose weight over last couple of years it’s definitely a mind thing too with me and I need to have a certain amount of control over getting organised in order to keep on track. I’m also going to up my exercise with walking longer with ( v old) dog, will aim for more hills.
I’m starting to plan how I’m going to tackle festivities, only got one girls night, eating out at a pub so will eat any main course I fancy. If others are having a starter I will too but no dessert. Plan to have a pint of cider and that’s it and will walk there and back to venue. Thinking cider as can make that last longer than glasses of wine, also on a bit of a budget so should spend less. Not going to waffle any more, tomorrow is my starting point.

Megsmcgoo · 08/12/2019 15:58

Also feeling good for the week ahead, have prepped my lunches for the next few days and feeling positive even though yesterday was off plan.
Just had a 4 hour driving lesson which was pretty exhausting! Didn’t realise how tiring it would be, hopefully will be able to book my test For March 🤞
This week is going to be tough, Monday to Wednesday all ok. Thursday onwards not so much! Out for lunch Thursday, going out for our anniversary Thursday night, Christmas party Friday, wedding on Saturday and then my sisters birthday on Sunday. All I can do is make better choices where I can!

lilgreen · 08/12/2019 17:16

B: poached egg on sourdough toast
L: 2 rice cakes with tuna and sweet corn with a bit of lite mayo, apple
D: 2 chicken sausages, a few aunt Bessie roasts , veggies and gravy

cricketmum84 · 08/12/2019 17:36

Just had a big portion of marmite sprouts and they were AMAZING 😍

Thank you to those who picked up on me mentioning my new man. It's very early days, about 3 weeks in but we seem to have clicked. It's lovely to have someone around who makes me laugh so much and without the moodiness of my last partner. I've got everything crossed !
To the new joiners I will echo the sentiments that everyone on here is lovely and very supportive. And some are brilliant with top tips and more 'technical 'advice on diet and exercise.
I was 15st 11lbs again this morning so yesterday's dip short lived. On the potentially plus side my TOTM arrived today, eight weeks since the last one ( 52, perimenopausal )
Enjoy your evening everyone and KOKO

7Worfs · 08/12/2019 18:16

Indulged in a Bendicks selection, but probably no more than 300kcal.

First night of putting baby in his own room 😬

JontyDoggle37 · 08/12/2019 18:40

cricketmum haven’t tried marmite sprouts - could you share the recipe?
7Worfs best of luck with baby’s first night!
onesmallstep fab re new partner especially as the previous one doesn’t sound good. Only problem with dating is it often involves going out and eating and drinking a lot lol!

cricketmum84 · 08/12/2019 19:34

@JontyDoggle37 they were lovely :) part boil sprouts then put in a baking dish. In a cup mix one veg stock cube with a teaspoon of marmite and about half a cup of boiling water. Mix well and pour over the sprouts and given them a good shake so they are all covered then cook in the oven until they go all caramelised - about 30 mins depending on how many are in the tray.

Hello all, including the new people. Congratulations on the losses and really pleased to hear your news vebrithien and hope everything continues to go well.
As my last November and first December weigh ins were the same, I'm going to count that as my start weight for December rather than the gain I had on the first. Anyway after that longwinded intro I am down to 14st 6.4lbs or 202.4lbs - I am so close to my target of under 200lbs. Also I bought a new pair of size 18 jeans and they fit and one of my old tops that was stretched across my belly fits properly now so although the belly mountain looks as big as ever it has reduced slightly, yay.

Tryingtwo · 08/12/2019 22:02

I don't know what happened to my last message, I pressed post at around 1.00pm but it has only just appeared. I've had a busy day so at 9.30pm I had only had about 900 cals so I've treated myself to a nice glass of red wine and some skinny popcorn. I haven't had any alcohol in months and it has gone right to my head. I was only going to have half of the little bottle (187ml) but it was so nice and the whole bottle is only 143 cals so I think I will finish the rest of it. Cheers.

lilgreen · 08/12/2019 22:10

Cheers!

DownUdderer · 09/12/2019 03:03

Hi everyone. I’ve been to the cinema, I go during the day time. I feel extremely indulgent doing that but I really enjoy switching off for a couple of hours, it does wonders for my mental health! I took a banana from home, and I’m glad I did because I was running late and I was hungry for breakfast by the time I sat down. I’m Cornish but I live in Australia, I watched Fishermen’s Friends and it based in Cornwall so I did feel a bit misty eyed! I enjoyed it, more for the scenery than anything else!

I’m really on cloud nine today because when I weighed in this morning I was a pound down and I’m in the healthy range for my BMI! I hadn’t realised I was so close, but I put my weight into my weight app and it told me my new BMI! I’m very happy.

I went around the shops after the cinema and I bought myself some clothes. I’m down a size and I can’t stop shopping now. It’s been such a long time since I splurged on clothes. They will have to be my Xmas present!

Remember to drink as much water as you can, when I’ve had a great day of drinking heaps of water I get a good number on the scales.

twolungs · 09/12/2019 04:12

Hooray, knocked off a couple of pounds in Dec.

10 stone 12. I've also tediously logged my meal plan on Cronometer. Although it's our Christmas party next week so we'll see where we end up !

Egghead68 · 09/12/2019 06:59

Great milestone achieved @downudderer. Enjoy your new clothes - you have earned them. Nicely done @twolungs.

66.6kg this morning. Plan is lots of salad and fruit plus a body blast class.

JontyDoggle37 · 09/12/2019 07:07

Well done tryingtwo great when a top fits suddenly!
DownUdderer well done on the BMI milestone, what a great feeling! And good tip about the water..
twolungs well done on the couple of pounds..off to investigate what Cronometer is...
egghead sounds like a good plan for the day!
After a bit of a ahem ‘Clearout’ yesterday I’m down two pounds today, so 12st 4.2. Have just bashed out another 30 minutes on the cross trainer plus twenty minutes of weights and then some stretching. Haven’t sorted my meal plan for today yet so that’s next on the list..

lilgreen · 09/12/2019 07:11

I loved Fisherman’s Friends. Port Isaac was a childhood holiday destination for me. 9st 10 this morning so wasn’t a fluke yesterday. Only 3 to go but they will be the hardest no doubt. All my clothes fit better. I bought a pencil skirt in October in a size 12 thinking it’d easily fit and it was very snug. I can now twist it back to front with ease. Nobody else has noticed my 7lb loss but it makes me feel so good. Well done everyone, let’s have a good week!

Ihatesundays · 09/12/2019 07:50

Totally thought I would have a loss after 4 days of staying the same. Nope. Slightly heavier. Sigh.

cricketmum84 · 09/12/2019 08:23

Morning all and welcome to day 9 ❤️

Haven't weighed today, trying to avoid hopping on the scales every single day. Had a mince pie last night and felt really. Aughts but it was just so yummy :)

Plan for today is lots and lots of water! Thanks @DownUdderer :)
L - wfh so I'm going to get the soup maker out and do some sort of roasted veg soup, I've got peppers, tomatoes, onions, leeks, just need to decide what to throw in.
D - baked cod and mushy peas (favourite low point tea!!)

Have a lovely Monday everyone!

Lose 7lbs/3kgs a month! The December instalment!

Ooh - two NSVs!

  1. Just realised I haven't needed acid reflux medication for weeks, which I put down to weight loss.
  1. I'm now back at (the top end of) my premenopausal weight.

Have a good week everyone!

Egghead68 · 09/12/2019 08:31

(well that's one NSV and one SV really).

7Worfs · 09/12/2019 08:32

December is proving a challenge for me after great results in October and November.
I keep losing and gaining the same amounts, I’ve maybe lost 0.5kg but can’t be certain because of the fluctuations.

Could be because I’ve reached pre- pregnancy weight and my body isn’t getting a further easy ride from breastfeeding calorie burning. 🤔

I’m taking it easy in December, doing 16:8 but no exercise.

Ecci · 09/12/2019 09:25

Finally the scales have moved after 4 weeks of being 199lbs, down to 197.4 this morning. That's really perked me up.
