Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

@cheesenpickles are you OK? Hope so!

Well done @SunshineCake

fallfallfall · 28/10/2019 20:54

yes, that's lavender from my back yard (i gave about half away).
there's a lot to be said about learning how to maintain weight not just losing and gaining, so for those of us who maintained in october its still a pat on the back.
I'll get my steps in.
we had crepes (aka french pancakes; thin stretchy things) filled with compote (fresh fruit mainly from our yard; apple, rhubarb, strawberry, and black current, 2 cup measures of each fruit boiled down like an apple sauce) no sugar.
then hamburger soup with a samosa for lunch.
supper will be pork with squash...not sure what veggies i have brussel sprouts and parsnips to use up. i cooked the pork in sauerkraut, the chops had been marinated in store so lots of salt which causes me water retention for a couple days.
i've got a dozen or so squash to use up, soup is an excellent idea.
we have soup almost every lunch.

My post at 12.34 was garbled nonsense thanks to MN still not fixing the glitch with typing too fast then it not deleting what one asks for but four times the letters.

I cracked and had toast after veg crisps and free from biscuits. Tomorrow I WILL have a decent breakfast as when I don't I am hungry in the evening.

Dreading weigh in tomorrow.

fallfallfall · 28/10/2019 22:22

having a plan is a great start sunshine.

Awittyusernameishardtofind · 29/10/2019 06:14

My weigh day is Tuesday so this will be my last for October.
Oct 1st: 12st 3.4lbs
Today: 11st 9.8lbs

Thanks for keeping me motivated. Good luck everyone. See you on the November thread.

BustedDreams · 29/10/2019 06:45

Good Morning Lovelies

@fallfallfall food sounds delicious and you seem very self sufficient! I find it very rewarding when we eat our home grown produce. Although this year there’s not been much here due to circumstances. Next year I’ll be back on it with the home grown veggies. Talking of planning exercise, we have planned to walk round the block after work tonight. It’s a start.

@SunshineCake do you like eggs? They are a good choice for breakfast and they will keep you satiated throughout the day. I’m thinking of having omelette for my evening meal, not fully decided yet though. Another high protein quick meal I used to have was tinned sardines or pilchards in spicy tomato sauce. Not everyone’s choice I know.

@Awittyusernameishardtofind the is awesome. Well done! 🌟🏅👍. More than a half stone off. It is very satisfying to read about all your successes big or small.

I’m pretty much the same as when I started. I did briefly dip below 10 stones but when I weighed yesterday I was 10st 1lb. That’s ok. If I didn’t eat mindfully, with an eye on calories, lower carb etc I KNOW I’d be at least 2stone heavier if not more. My stall is because I’ve had a medication review and my thyroxine has been increased which can mess with my weight. Hopefully November will see a loss. My BMI is still in the overweight category. I’d like to greet 2020 in the normal range.

I’m using my 3 days of October that are left as a mini detoxing boot camp with a Of bit extra walking chucked in. Fresh foods, fresh soups, chicken & fish. Not so much gluten free stuff as it’s still carb heavy. When I eat them, it leads to wanting to eat more of them. I’ll be reserving them for the last meal of the day if I’m feeling particularly hungry.

Anyone seen @cheesenpickles? I do hope she is ok.

Morning all

Well done @Awittyusernameishardtofind

Mini boot camp sounds good @busteddreams.

I will be trying not to consume body weight in rubbish. Still tired and not very well and early start thanks to the clock change... but plan for today is lots of water, some exercise, a catch up with a friend and a roast tonight with lots of veggies.

Sounds delicious @fallfallfall

Mungomango · 29/10/2019 07:38

Very motivating to hear of people's weight loss, well done! Would love to hear your tips.

I've had my first good day of healthy eating for a good 10 days.. DD's birthday and I only had a small bit of cake (and enjoyed every mouthful!), then lots of housework to burn off some calories. Fajitas for dinner but I had mine with salad no wrap and only a tiny bit of cheese.

cheesenpickles · 29/10/2019 08:30

Hey all. Sorry for the radio silence. I've fallen off the low carbing wagon and I'm really feeling it emotionally, which is really shocking. Wright is still staying steady but I'm just trying to navigate half term at the moment and feeling a tad stressed. Just need to give myself a talking to but hard with a 2 year old and 4 year old bickering and screaming at each other. Envy

BustedDreams · 29/10/2019 11:20

@MrsJonesAndMe yes I need it to reset. I’ve upped my water, lowered my carbs and being extra mindful about portion size.

That’s good to hear @Mungomango keep it up!

@cheesenpickles lovely to see you. It does sound like you have you hands full! Keep sane and keep going 👍

Afternoon all Smile.

One pound down this morning. Very confused.

Had two boiled eggs with some chilli sauce for breakfast after I had walked my dog in the rain. Then an hour of searching in ds room for homework and cleaning as a I went, an hour walking around the shopping centre then another hour of up and down the stairs while doing my child's room.

Just had hummus with crackers and veg crisps for lunch. Will have a satsuma in a bit. Dinner is GF sausages and chips but I'm not fancying chips so might roast some peppers to have with tomatoes instead.

Well done to everyone for their efforts no matter the results.

BustedDreams · 29/10/2019 13:15

@SunshineCake you’re on fire! Well done on your loss. I notice losses when I don’t expect them and gain when I’ve been good. I think as we get older there is an increasing delay between cause & effect Grin

cheesenpickles · 29/10/2019 13:59

Thanks @busted. Just been to the "big shop" and bought loads of low carb goodies to keep me on the straight and narrow. My fil keeps taking us to Costco so we've ended up with far too many cakes to be conducive to a diet lately Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/10/2019 15:09

Glad you're OK @cheesenpickles I've cried over cake pops this afternoon. Though it wasn't the cake pops really. It is the exhaustion, stress, stuff going wrong, change of season etc.

BustedDreams · 29/10/2019 15:10

@cheesenpickles noooooo Costco is the devil 😈 just like Home Bargains Grin I actually deliberately avoided HB the other day because I know they have some tempting gluten free/high carb treats. Nope I am refusing to be seduced any more Grin

I am joining in v.v. late but need a bit of accountability.

I've lost 1.5 stones in August and September and then went on holiday. Managed to put just 2 pounds on and want to carry on with my old new habits.
I pretty much did what you've mentioned in your opening post and I know if I stick with it I feel much healthier, have better sleep and weight is going the right direction.

Galvantula · 29/10/2019 15:37

Hi all...just popping in. Sorry I have been MIA again this month - failing to keep up.

I am on target to end up marginally below my October start weight - so although it's painfully slow going it's still the right direction.

If I can be steady below 60kg /9st6 by the end of the year I'll be happy I think (I was 60.4 today).

I'm away to mark my place so I don't lose you all in November :)

fallfallfall · 29/10/2019 16:56

I shop at Costco weekly if not more...hence the pre seasoned pork chops the size of a small roast.
Cheese I had to wait till the kids left home, and retired from work to sort out my stress eating. Good for you for tackling this early.

BustedDreams · 29/10/2019 18:14

@Fere welcome. We are all going over to This thread in November. You are welcome to come and join us there. Well done on your weight loss to date. Putting on 2lbs whilst on holiday is positively a success Grin

@galvantula welcome back lovie. We have similar goal for the start of 2020. We can do it!!

I’ve closed my kitchen and now have a fancy jug of lemon water to drink out of a rather nice Chrystal glass. Dead posh I am Grin

SunshineCake · 29/10/2019 20:12

@BustedDreams do please tell me about home bargains gluten free treats. I could go tomorrow.

BustedDreams · 29/10/2019 21:05

@SunshineCake they have some rice thins in a long packet. Cheese & chive, chilli & salt & vinegar. Bloody lovely. Also loads of different rice cakes, some with chocolate on Grin

Mungomango · 29/10/2019 21:19

I feel your pain @cheesenpickles! Bickering kids is v stressful. Hope you survive half term ok.

I'm down a pound, whoop whoop! (Ok that was the pound that I put back on last week but even so..). Back to walking with the kids to school and tracking calories. Feeling good today Smile

SunshineCake · 29/10/2019 21:31

Great, thanks.

DownUdderer · 30/10/2019 03:36

I’ve just had some pork crackling, yum. I haven’t had any for years! I need to refocus and put my mind to planning my food again. Well done on the losses. KOKO everyone.

BustedDreams · 30/10/2019 07:48

Good Morning Lovelies

Yesterday was absolutely on point. Pre planned both my meals, lunch & dinner. IF/eating window 12:30 - 5:30. Had 2lts lemon water. White tea and 1 coffee with cream. Came in at 1096. Currently I’m eating around 1100. I been eating around this number of cals for a while. If the scales don’t move in the right direction the next time I weigh I will need to reduce to 1000. I am around 5ft in height and don’t do heaps of exercise but did manage a short walk yesterday.

Today’s menu. The last of the roasted butternut squash soup for lunch and roast chicken & veg for later.

Wishing you all success on the penultimate day of October.
