Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

Learning to have a good relationship with food is not easy! Well done for your progress @SunshineCake.

SunshineCake · 26/10/2019 13:38

Thank you everyone. I know I can't help you all much as don't have the knowledge but I so appreciate your friendship.

This morning for a brief moment I was a pound down, the lowest I've been in years then it jumped back to the same weight I've had since October 16th with a couple of increases in between but back down now.

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/10/2019 16:38

@SunshineCake everyone here contributes in their own way here. I know nothing about weight loss either and certainly don't have a healthy relationship with food/my body, so please don't feel like you're not "worthy"

I've eaten crap for the last few days because I feel crap but if anything it really just makes me feel worse, so need to get myself back in the mind set.

Scales hovering around 69kg so still 12kg down overall which is a great achievement and I'm pleased.

That's a long recovery @fallfallfall hope it's better on schedule so you can get back to normal.

DownUdderer · 27/10/2019 01:23

I find sharing helpful and the comradery really keeps me on track. I honestly think I would have given up weeks ago when I hit my first plateau, if I’d been doing this by myself. It’s amazing what a tiny comment from someone can do, it really can help so much. Good luck every one.

Mungomango · 27/10/2019 06:24

I totally agree. I may be new to the group but it's nice being able to share small wins and also share the lows as you know someone will be able to empathise. I've struggled with eating disorders in the past and it's hard now to have a healthy relationship with food, without becoming obsessed again. But I honestly feel like I'm getting there.

My small win today was playing football with DS in the garden today for 20 minutes. He ran rings around me but it was a great way to get some exercise in whilst spending time with him. I need to do more of that.

SunshineCake · 27/10/2019 12:05

Hi everyone

I convinced myself I would be up as ds was home from uni and we had takeaway, my first in a year or more but I was the same so I'm taking it as a win, especially as I had a freshly baked bread roll at lunch and didn't react.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 27/10/2019 14:53

Afternoon all. I've fallen well and truely off the wagon for the month of Oct and gained 5lbs. Ridiculous. Checking in so I can find you all for Nov. 😊

BustedDreams · 27/10/2019 20:15

Hello Lovelies

How did you all spend your extra hour. Me .... stayed in bed an extra hour, it was lovely Grin

@fallfallfall poor you! Must be really sore. Hope it’s on track in the healing process.

@MrsJonesAndMe how’s you today. Please feel free to share/vent your troubles if you feel it will help. This thread is about holistic support and that includes emotional/mental wellness struggles too.

@DownUdderer. You’re in the right place. This thread is a great & safe place for support. Totally none competitive and all progress is celebrated.

@Mungomango kiddie football is ace! I bet your boy loved it too!

@SunshineCake freshly baked bread is totally delicious. Good to hear you didn’t react to it.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa welcome back lovie. Reset, refocus and get in the right head space and you’ll be soon seeing the scales go into reverse.

Just booked tickets to see Kim Wilde in December. She’s singing Christmas carols in a cave 😬.

Hello all

I've slept in both yesterday and today, thanks DH! We've all been poorly in turns @busteddreams and DH is ill again. That and the dark/cold doesn't help things. Got out with DS today and had some fun for a bit, but then spent about 5 hours doing washing/shopping/cooking and cleaning and oh, more washing!

Hoping for another nice autumnal walk tomorrow and just keeping things ticking over.

Roll on November!

BustedDreams · 27/10/2019 20:29

I always look forward to the start of a new month @MrsJonesAndMe. Fresh start and all that. Sorry to hear you dh is ill.

November’s Thread

Wow, only 66 days until 2020. So much can be achieved in that time and we could be greeting the New Year with renewed optimism, feeling happier and somewhat healthier.

He'll live Wink I definitely need to focus on the health aspect and self care. When things get stressy I stop looking after myself...why am I not taking my iron tablet, why am I not drinking enough/eating fruit/veg etc...

Need to sort my head!

fallfallfall · 27/10/2019 22:01

Hello everyone, indeed a beautiful fall day over here. I’ve been walking and closed my exercise ring faithfully each day.
Food choices...not enough veggies and too much salt.
Lots of little things to do. Photo attached tedious but that’s okay.

Good Morning

Is that dried Lavender @fallfallfall? Serious envy if it is .... it’s smells awesome! How’s the hand?

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup is what I’m making today for lunch. Not the lowest carb soup but it’s packed with flavour, fibre & healthy nutrients. Tray baked fish and vegetables for tea. Followed by Raspberries and Greek yoghurt. Jug of lemon water, 1 coffee with cream, white tea.

Love how organised you are Busted. I need to plan my menus out better. It's DD's birthday tomorrow so it will be cake with breakfast (but mine will just be a sliver). Since I've been sick I've done no exercise and my eating habits have fallen awry. Other than the cake tomorrow I'm going to be more diligent!

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/10/2019 06:43

I love BNS soup!

Have a great day all!

SunshineCake · 28/10/2019 07:18

Just a quick note as ds is back to school today.

I am 2.4lbs up and also had reactions so I think things take 1-2 days with me to show up be it good or bad so I need to bear that in mind and I now only have three days to get 3.6lbs off in my self imposed target. Shucks.

Will catch up later. Need to walk doggy as well.

Have a good day everyone.

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 08:09

@SunshineCake it must be disappointing for you if you’re feeling you won’t meet your months target. Try to think of how far you have come, how you can identify when you feel genuine hunger. You’ve sifted and sorted through some very difficult issues. That in itself is you being successful! This is a plan for life and you’re been doing great! See the next 4 days as an opportunity to set yourself up to start November with renewed vigour rather than a heavy heart. You can do this 😊

Thank you Buster dreams I'm not going to keep give up I will keep going. Breakfast this morning it was houmous and crackers and I'm still hungry but I didn't. Dinner was going to pick up potatoes leftover roast chicken with potatoes are clear green. I sent a photo to DH but he said they're okay I don't think the green was really shown up. Eating green potatoes.

Dh just rang an I'm getting another pack of jacket spuds as they are 55p for four and dh has read they are poisonous.

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 13:45

Noooooo don’t eat green spuds @SunshineCake, you’ll get belly ache 🤒.

Well done on not giving in to your earlier cravings.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/10/2019 16:12

Hi all

I had my iron tablet this morning, I drank lots of water and I had a walk in the sun. That's the positives that I'm taking away with me for today. Which is better than nothing.

Ah @SunshineCake I think on balance I will have done nothing in October other than maintain but it's not going up, so that is a win in my book bearing it all in mind. You've had a lot more on your plate to cope with, so be kind.

waves to all of you!

SunshineCake · 28/10/2019 19:56

I threw away the green potatoes and bought new ones.

Really want something sweet. Trying to hold out. I have walked the dog for 1.5 hours this morning and 1 hour 20 minutes this afternoon though.

BustedDreams · 28/10/2019 20:29

That’s good to know @SunshineCake. Well done on fitting in all that exercise! That’s where I let myself down in not doing more exercise.

Waving back at ya @MrsJonesAndMe 👋
