Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

ohhh nuts are my downfall as well. i buy them for dh who doesn't have a significant weight problem.
what i need to really get into is some cardio...which i hate with a passion.

BustedDreams · 20/10/2019 09:36

Happy Sunday!

Raining and windy here.

@Mungomango great progress! Positive results will promote motivation to keep doing what you’re doing! 👍

@fallfallfall I love nuts too. In fact last night I was a bit munch myself on a little pile of nuts. Walnuts & almonds. Delish.

We seem to have dwindled in numbers. I hope everyone is ok and are just busy with life.

A quick shoutout & how you doing to @doadear @Awittyusernameishardtofind @DrDiva @MrsJonesAndMe @Foreverlexicon @FiveShelties @MikeHannigansStripyShirt @Rachaelw02 @cjbertie @cheesenpickles @FavouriteSong @DownUdderer @flametrees @galvantula @TinyTickler @Cary2012 @adollop @hiphopopptamus @chickenitalia @Awittyusernameishardtofind @laura221 @knitclubchatter (I think they name changed but can’t remember what to) @boredboredboredboredbored.

I know there are many more but my memory is pants! Sorry if I’ve missed someone.

Anyways there are 73 days left until Big Ben strikes midnight (or does he, are they still fixing him.) I’ve been really quite distracted with some pretty serious stress in rl but managed to tick along nicely with food. Thyroid meds are creating havoc too. Nonetheless I intend to continue to be mindfull of portion sizes, log everything, if, low carb and try to fit some exercise in. I’m not really drinking alcohol anymore (don’t have a problem with it, I’d rather use my calories for nutritious food). Might succumb when family come around and the Bailey Coffees are on offer 😋.

I’m bucking the trend today and rather than a Sunday roast we are having fish.

Whatever you’re doing have a good ‘un.

Lovely view @fallfallfall !

@MrsJonesAndMe I hope your daughter finds some relief!

Sorry for missing you, I thought you were in my previous post Grin

@cheesenpickles how’s it going. Have you managed to click the reset button?

@SunshineCake you have come so far and have done really well these past few months. I’d admire your consistency 👏

As we have dwindled in numbers would any of you like to join a what’s app group? Just a thought.

DownUdderer · 20/10/2019 09:45

I’ve not been drinking alcohol either, I’ve got out of the habit of it. I think my food has been good recently. I really drink loads of water but I’m still in a plateau. I am going to try and add more exercise into the mix.

cheesenpickles · 20/10/2019 09:52

Not so well @BustedDreams I've been massively off piste this weekend because of being away and TOTM. Just making the most of the weekend and then getting my focus back on Monday.

BustedDreams · 20/10/2019 10:17

@cheesenpickles totm does make things more difficult. I always craved extra carbs at those times. Sounds like you have a plan 👍

@DownUdderer tell me about it. I’m plateaued but I’m blaming the thyroid meds Grin

Hi all

Pound up today but I know why and it is okay. Feeling very cold and tired today and lacking in must motivation. Slept in by two hours which has made me wonder why I'm shattered.

Therapy tomorrow. Had another unsettling dream.

I don't mind joining a group.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/10/2019 16:42

Hi all

Thanks for thinking of me @BustedDreams, still here though today has been a bacon butty, cake and roast sort of day. Definitely both hormones and germs to blame here. Burning sore throat and pounding head!

Hope that your just reward awaits once the meds stabilise.

Sending you some get well soon vibes too @SunshineCake

Good luck with the game plan @cheesenpickles and @DownUdderer

Amazing start on Noom @Mungomango it's all going in the right direction and making you think.

Hoping for a more level day tomorrow when there's routine of school etc.

fallfallfall · 20/10/2019 22:28

its nice to read about the ups and downs. busted your healthy eating plan is similar to mine.
i had a huge breakfast (huge for my age/exercise/metabolism) so i plan to skip lunch and have a nicely balanced supper.
i did my big walk in the pouring rain...
btw a big plus for menopause is the lack of cravings/urge for salty or sweet at ttom.
i've considered noom, but i'm really leaning towards a pt once the hand is healed.

Mungomango · 20/10/2019 23:16

Interesting to know that some cravings go with menopause, I hadn't thought about that. I think I'm perimenopausal at the moment (age 44) so I've got all that to look forward to!

I recently got made redundant and that's the other thing that's helped my weight loss. I've now got time to walk the kids to school and back, I'm not stressed and I've got time to prepare healthy snacks and meals. I'll be working again soon but I'm enjoying this freedom whilst I can!!

SunshineCake · 21/10/2019 07:05

Morning all

Really struggling today as have therapy, tired and cold. Up another pound and this time don't really know why. Still on period but hoping to do the magic second trip to the bathroom Grin.

Worried my dog was sick last night and also stressing about having to walk her early but it is still dark and no way am I walking through the woods in the dark.

My cat has gone to sleep in my wicker basket containing my cards. Cat is bigger than basket. Soft bed is available less than a metre away Confused.

Hope everyone else is feeling good.

BustedDreams · 21/10/2019 10:56

Good Morning All

@SunshineCake sorry to hear you’ve had a bad dreams, wishing you strength for your therapy. Sending a hug. If you inbox me your number I’ll add you. So far it’s me & you Grin

@MrsJonesAndMe hope you soon feel better!

@fallfallfall did you change your user name? Hope the hand is on the mend.

@Mungomango I find when I up my steps my weight goes down Grin It’s just doing it!

Yesterday I went a little bit off piste eating wise. Not much, just a bit. Totally eating my feelings as stress through the roof. Forcing myself to feel more positive today.

Anymore for what’s app group. Healthy eating and general support group.

Have a great day everyone.

Just had the hardest therapy I have had in a long time. Cried. Ate a whole bar of dark fruit and nut chocolate in the way home then went to see dh at work. Said was up a pound so gone up two since my low on Wednesday but I also reminded myself I've lost nearly two stone in a year so not beating myself up.

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/10/2019 13:42

(((hugs))) @sunsinecake that sounds tough. You can do this. Had to laugh at the cat!
Thinking of you too @BustedDreams

I've done better so far today. Need to as 1lb up!

fallfallfall · 21/10/2019 15:35

It’s early morning here, busted I changed my user name after my fall and can’t remember what I was before...
Sunshine indeed the years success is a better overall view than the day to day scale dance. Positive thoughts the therapy settles you into a peaceful personal space.
When menopausal your weight doesn’t fluctuate, no bloating of breasts or your uterus.
DH has eaten all the dangerous treats, I’m left with two pomegranates to peel...with one and a half hands.

cheesenpickles · 21/10/2019 16:10

Scales today were rather terrifying. Up about 6lbs! I've literally only been "off" Friday, Saturday and Sunday so it'll all be water weigh but flippin' heck. Been on it with if today and I've just rustled up some italian seasoning coated chicken goujons and kale with pancetta for dinner. Kids are having mash as well. Hopefully I can start to undo some of the naughtiness. It was totally worth it though Grin

Mungomango · 21/10/2019 17:16

Morning all (I'm in NZ!). It's always nice to wake up and read everyone's messages. Sorry to hear of your tough session @SunshineCake Thanks. I would have totally scoffed a bar of chocolate too!

I've been ill over the weekend with a virus so barely moved off the sofa for two days so the scales haven't budged. I'm feeling a lot better now so looking forward to getting back into it today.

SunshineCake · 21/10/2019 19:52

Hope you feel better soon, Mungomango.

DownUdderer · 22/10/2019 02:39

Get well everyone who’s under the weather. I don’t blame the chocolate eating @SunshineCake, and like you say you’ve done well with weight loss this year, so a small blip on the radar won’t matter.

I’ve been trying to up my step count for the week, I hope it will get the blasted scales moving!

I’m trying to eat more today. I keep reading that having too few calories can stall weight loss but I’m not sure why that happens because everything I read contradicts the previous thing I read! But I will see what happens if I just try it out for today.

I forced down some spinach yesterday, I’m not keen on it but I know it’s good for you!

Awittyusernameishardtofind · 22/10/2019 08:31

Hi everyone. Hope you’re all feeling better. @SunshineCake therapy brings SO much up but it’s important to deal with it. You’re doing great. I start group therapy for anxiety next week.
Looking after our mental well-being is vital and it’s much harder to look after your physical health if you’re suffering mentally. Especially if you’re an emotional eater like me.

I’m down 2.4 lbs this week which is a boost for me. Finally under 12 st.

Keep up the good work guys x

BustedDreams · 22/10/2019 11:07

Good Morning Lovelies

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt welcome back! We’ve misse you!

@galvantula you’ve done fantastic. The further into the journey the less it shows on the scales. In my own case I know if I wasn’t mindful and implement my own style of healthy eating I would not have kept off the 2stone I’ve lost and would definitely regained it all plus some! So for ladies like us staying the same is progress 😊

@SunshineCake we are over here in the October thread Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/10/2019 14:10

Hi all

Lovely sunshine, so managed a lot of walking. Food so so due to circumstances of having to eat on the go all day. Still, did a 16 1/2 hour fast and will eat inside a 7 1/2 hour window to minimise damage.

How are you feeling today @SunshineCake?

SunshineCake · 22/10/2019 22:03

Hi, thanks everyone for your kind messages.

Still feeling a bit fragile plus I was a bit rude to my therapist which hung over me so didn't feel I got the full benefit of the session. Had my jewellery criticised in another thread too so I replied, hid the thread and have told myself not to care what strangers think. I don't agree.

Difficult thing tomorrow as have to take dd to doctors. She won't let me go in but I really feel I need to so don't know what to do. She's 16.

fallfallfall · 22/10/2019 23:59

sunshine that's a hard one. not sure if it's right or wrong but in such instances i've given the whole low down to the receptionist/assistant and asked them to pass it on to the dr.
all is well enough diet wise here, very carb heavy lunch but supper will even it all out. no difficulty getting the steps in today.
decent weather today has been helpful.
8 more days till the end of the month....positive thoughts for even a small loss everyone

DownUdderer · 23/10/2019 02:32

I’m down a pound! I’m happy! I’ve lost a stone! I’m just so happy I’ve literally got a bounce in my step today! I have my birthday in January and to think I could get near my goal weight by then! I want to buy a new dress if I make it! Thanks for all the support and comradery.
