Lose lbs in September

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Thanks @MrsJonesAndMe - it went really well. Hilly and quite warm but I really enjoyed it. Apart from the last km!

That amount of exercise can lead to water retention and I ate a lot after yesterday, also ate late. If I compare to last Monday I’m 0.1 kg down but my average is down 1 kg from the previous week.

I did track everything though, before and yesterday. I’m hopefully getting into the mindset of not just letting go at the weekends, that’s what’s caused me trouble in the past.

Hope it settles down @Knitclubchatter that must have been frightening.

BustedDreams · 09/09/2019 07:15

Good Morning Lovelies

I have just typed a longish post and when I went to click preview it greyed out then disappeared.

Yesterday I ate totally to plan and within my calories. Today it’s chunky home made veg. Cheese, olives & celery. GF breaded fish and salad for later. 1 coffee with cream, water and white tea.

@DrDiva we are in the same place. I’m on my last stone and it’s also proving more difficult. Hope the kids behave today.

@galvantula yes Monday’s do come around increasingly quickly. Although I always enjoy the fresh start of a Monday, I find it motivating and energising.

@SunshineCake That’s a good walk that is. Well done !

@Knitclubchatter muscle gain is good. In time it will help gobble up your calories 😬

@RabidRabbles A stones loss since July is awesome!

@boredboredboredboredbored 20 miles 😮. That’s some going! Well done.

@chutneypig well done on your run. Sadly my running days are over.

I’ve attached a couple of visuals for those of you interested in keeping your carbs lowish.

Morning all. A lb down this morning and looking to start going to gym soon. I've always wanted to be a bit of a gym bunny but never had the time/motivation/stamina Grin

BustedDreams · 09/09/2019 08:35

Morning @cheesenpickles ... do the gym thing, it’ll rev up your metabolism good style.

Thanks Busted to be honest I'm a regular runner anyway, got into the habit over the past 13 years. It's food, always food that lets me down. I'm either on a diet or off, it's not good at all Sad I'm trying so hard to cut down and think this is forever but like so many find it's such a challenge. I just love eating, irs a hobby of mine Wink

cheesenpickles · 09/09/2019 09:19

Yes, I'm keen to chase the endorphin rush and see if anything can be done about the tummy "flap" (cheers kids). Lucky that my life insurance means super discounted gym membership at s really good gym locally and they have loads of brilliant classes too. Just waiting for the youngest to start school (next week!) and then work out what my weekly routine is going to be before I take the plunge.

Hiphopopotamus · 09/09/2019 10:04

So I’ve been rubbish at checking in but I’m still plodding away! I’m currently 3 pounds off in September so far. 2 pounds away from a 3 stone weight loss in total! I’m still only about halfway to my goal so I have a long way to go, but every little helps

BustedDreams · 09/09/2019 11:10

@boredboredboredboredbored I totally get where you are coming from. We eat when sad, happy, celebrating, because. We deserve it etc. I know I will need to be mindful for the rest of my natural if I wish to keep feeling fit, healthy and well. I do enjoy how I feel when eating more healthily.

@cheesenpickles I so miss the endorphin rush! You’ll rock as a Gym Bunny ... I can see a new user name coming up ... RockingGymBunny Grin

Hi @Hiphopopotamus welcome back:) 3 stones is fantastic! I’m at 2st loss so far and losses now are slow to come.

Hi all - quiet week on here for me. Last week was floored by PMT and getting kids back. Hopefully a bit more in routine this week! I started my weights routine last week and have been doing a min of 10K steps per day and staying keto/low carb with a few more carbs added in. I was worn out but today I feel good. Am down to 12st but I feel muscles I haven't felt in YEARS! So guess the scales may be slower now not sure.
Just had a smoothie with banana and berries and almond milk post workout - heaven! And bacon and egg for breakfast with kids.

Later mince and veg/lunch and soup for dinner.

Have a good day

SunshineCake · 09/09/2019 11:40

I was up about 1.5 lbs this morning but best thing was I didn't get stressed. I had some fudge yesterday and two bread rolls over the weekend so I'm not surprised. Back to being good this week and I also missed two days on the bike so will do that later. Big win for me as normally I get really upset if I go over and feel really rubbish.

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/09/2019 12:21

Ah @sunshinecake, I'm up this morning too. Indulged a bit over the weekend too, but just cracking on with it.

Plan/so far:

couple of nuts
chicken fajita mix with rice
curry served with cauliflower/chickpea and spinach frozen bag thing.

Have some very dark chocolate if the urge strikes and grapes/easy peelers too.

Have a great week everyone!

SunshineCake · 09/09/2019 13:13

I'm winning prize for most ridiculous lunch.

Anchovies in garlic and parsley, mushrooms, tomatoes and home grown red onions. Breakfast was going to be home made mackerel pate but I was rushing and couldn't get it to blend enough plus with the shock of the calorie count I gave up. I'll have it tonight with a little soft cheese on my jacket potato. Breakfast was two crackers with beetroot houmous as couldn't face any more.

RiddleyW · 09/09/2019 13:15

I had tuna quesadillas with avocado for lunch, was yum!

Dinner is sausages and mashed carrot and broccoli I think.

My DS started school this morning so I’m feeling all emotional

SunshineCake · 09/09/2019 13:37

Is your child doing full days, RiddleyW?

I'm gearing up for my eldest going to university Sad[proud].

RiddleyW · 09/09/2019 14:28

Yes full days! I can go and get him at 3.25, I can't wait.

I can't imagine him being big enough to start university! But I felt like that about school!

cheesenpickles · 09/09/2019 14:32

My eldest starts next week and people keep telling me I should be emotional, but mostly just excited for her (plus makes my life easier! Is that bad?! Grin) Making a keto BLT salad for our dinner tonight with career dressing, kids will hate it but I'll be happy lol.

cheesenpickles · 09/09/2019 14:53

Caesar dressing even Grin

Knitclubchatter · 09/09/2019 17:04

153.9, better than yesterday’s shocker.

DrDiva · 09/09/2019 17:15

Ah, the starting school thing! Really makes them seem so grown up!

Thanks for the parenting solidarity. I only have the one which apparently is easy... I wish someone would tell DS! A combination of sensory issues, anxiety and extreme brightness is hard work sometimes.

I was back at work today, and just realised I forgot to eat. Oops.

Laura221 · 09/09/2019 18:28

Sorry I've been quiet, I had an indulgent weekend Blush I will weigh in the morning and see the damage. Had a good ish day today.

Glad to see your all ok!

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/09/2019 19:50

Well mine drove me to chocolate and I ate outside my window, but let's hope tomorrow is better.

Did some Yoga with Adrienne and my body is certainly talking to me Blush

I'm sorry to say, but I think school is harder! The reading book, spelling, homework, letters/money, dressing up days, last minute letter to say the are getting a prize on Monday handed out on Friday afternoon As you were Grin

DrDiva · 09/09/2019 20:40

@MrsJonesAndMe I’m afraid I have a mantelpiece full of Bad Mother Of The Year trophies for all the times I have forgotten all those things! 😄

cheesenpickles · 09/09/2019 20:46

I'm getting daily spam from the new school via text message and email. Honestly three messages each day the last week about random stuff. I can't see me forgetting anything GrinGrin(famous last words!)

Cary2012 · 09/09/2019 21:02

Evening all, need to catch up with the thread. Hope you're all ok. Now I'm within a stone of my target, my weekly loss is slowing down, which is normal, I know. I think the last 10 or so pounds will be the hardest, but I'm determined to keep going. I always have a larger appetite in the Autumn/Winter months, so will up the veg and fruit. Am pleased with what I've achieved, but I know from bitter experience that the biggest challenge is ahead: maintaining and not regaining! Keep going, love to all x

dancingmom · 09/09/2019 21:18

@Cary2012 that's amazing good on you 💥💥💥

@cheesenpickles cracking up at "career" dressing! I want some of that!
