Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

@Foreverlexicon I totally understand and agree you need to do what's best your own mental health. I've really appreciated the support and chat from you while I've been on these threads and I hope I'll see you around other threads. Thanks

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/09/2019 15:52

Ah @foreverlexicon. What were you doing on here with a bunch of fat birds then Wink sweetheart? Live your life and accept your body for the wonderful thing that it is. Thanks for posting here.

Amazing result shalala tagging not working

Ate out at lunch time - had risotto, GF brownie and ice cream. Don't feel hungry at all now, so might just have some pineapple instead of tea and close my window.

BustedDreams · 07/09/2019 17:13

@Foreverlexicon thank you for letting everyone know rather than ghosting us. You know your own psychological triggers and having read your post I totally get why you need to leave. Thank you for your support thus far. I wish you well ❤️

Good luck @Foreverlexicon I understand the constant thinking about food and then hating yourself when eating something someone has deemed bad. Yesterday I ate a whole pack of biscuits. They were GF, other free of ingredients and a pack of six. I enjoyed them, lost the hungry feeling and didn't hate myself. It can be done. Take care and do pop back if only for the chat.

Foreverlexicon · 07/09/2019 18:29

Thanks guys - I’ve been on the thread for a few months and I didn’t want to just disappear!

I went shopping and bought a bunch of clothes I actually feel comfortable in, got my eyebrows done and got some hair dye in to make myself feel good instead 😊

Knitclubchatter · 07/09/2019 18:32

Positive thoughts @Foreverlexicon

chutneypig · 08/09/2019 07:29

Your shopping trip sounds incredibly positive Forever. Take care and hope to see you on other threads.

Good morning lovelies

I stayed on track yesterday. When I say stayed on track I mean I ate a sustainable, satiating, enjoyable days food.

I had home made chunky vegetable soup for lunch and I had salmon with vegetables, salad and some spicy chilli sauce. I had a handful of almonds (skin on) and 1 coffee with cream. Loads of water. I had a few crisps my oh offered me. All within my calorie goal and eating window of 17/7. I did not go to bed hungry.

The main thing for me is how I’m eating is how I could eat for the long haul. It’s a way of life to enhance my health, wellbeing and get my weight to a more healthy bmi and waist circumference within nhs guidelines. Food is life. It’s involved in nearly everything we do on a daily basis. Food for me is pleasurable and joyful. I look forward to my evening meal every night when I sit with my oh and chit chat. I love it!

Today’s menu is buttered cabbage with steak in cream and mushroom sauce. Cheese, celery, bell pepper platter with oat cakes later.

Wishing you all a great Sunday!

All your meals sound lovely @BustedDreams shame I cant have them Sad.

I counted all my meals yesterday but not the chocolates dh made me with sultanas and crushed almonds, the salted crisps or the bread roll and butter I tired to see how I would cope with eating something I'm intolerant too. This morning still the same weight for two or three days running Shock 12 stone 4.6lbs.

Today we are taking doggy on a day out so will get extra walking in.

RiddleyW · 08/09/2019 07:41

Morning all!

I’ve weighed myself for first time since surgery on Thursday and I’m 1lb up which is ok. I’ve hardly got out of bed since Thursday. Going to go for a walk today and try to eat mindfully rather than restrictively while I’m recovering. My neck is so swollen though, it’s really embarrassing. Might try a scarf to hide it a bit.

BustedDreams · 08/09/2019 07:58

Hello @RiddleyW glad to hear your on the mend! Enjoy your walk. Take it easy!

@SunshineCake I agree food intolerances suck and can make eating a varied diet difficult. I’m coeliac myself so have to avoid gluten but I know it’s much harder with multiple intolerances. In regards to weight loss mine is never in a straight line iyswim. I lose, gain, lose, stay the same, lose etc. Overall I’m losing, albeit slowly. I have some chronic health issues, post menopause and can’t exercise like I used to so not as easy as it used to be. But I know that I’m lighter than this time last year.

Seem to have overcome whatever my stall was and ended up eating normally yesterday. Duh put my Joe Wicks books and made a slight adapted Cheesy Chicken and Chorizo with spinach (I have no time for pine nuts) also went to Costco and loaded up on keto friendly snacks like mini babybel and marinated anchovies (honestly everybody thinks I'm bizarre but I love them Grin). Also put in an ocado shop and picked up some low carb tortillas so I can eat fajitas with the family one day this week. Down 2.1lbs on the scale this morning to 164.3 which is a smidge over 11.7 stone.

Picture of last night's dinner as well. Smile

All the best @Foreverlexicon both for your self-journey and for the dates! I hope it all goes wonderfully for you.

My weight is up again. That last bloody stone is proving awful to budge. I am hoping that going back to work tomorrow will help, as I won’t be in the house to eat crap. I’m also just done with parenting at the moment - in fact I am hiding in the bedroom trying to find it in me to go and be Fun Mum yet again. Sad

galvantula · 08/09/2019 10:07

Sounds v sensible forever.

Morning all.

I'm down to 60.8 today, so overall 1.5kg down now :)

I'd like to be under 60 by the end of the month. I did briefly consider reducing my calorie target to try and lose faster, but I think I'll do better slow and steady as I'm doing.

Is it just me or is Monday coming round too fast as usual? 😒

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/09/2019 14:23

Well done all

Hope the "little run" goes OK @chutneypig Wink You are amazing for being able to do that.

I've been GF, done OK with it so far though it requires planning and control not to eat pizza or garlic bread or pasta I've had a GF cake this morning which was OK, but the topping on it had palm oil in yuk

Check in with you all tomorrow. Glad to hear you are up and about @RiddleyW

SunshineCake · 08/09/2019 14:33

Dinner tonight is cod, lots of vegetables and a few baby new potatoes.

@MrsJonesAndMe I've tried a GF pizza and it wasn't too bad.

Knitclubchatter · 08/09/2019 16:40

Well my weight is up this morning up a lot! So 154.5....which believe me is very odd
My weight rarely fluctuates by more than .7 sooo I’ll have to have a serious talk with myself (since the scale can’t talk back)
I was 151.5 on Wednesday Thursday and Friday.
On Friday I nearly CAUSED a car accident...very very close call...blind spot mirrors construction zone down town traffic etc.
I took solace with some black liquorice but not 3 lbs worth.
I’ll be reviewing the numbers? Water or muscle? My smart scale will help decode this mess.

cheesenpickles · 08/09/2019 16:55

It'll be hormonal I think and stress fight/flight can make our bodies behave peculiarly.

Knitclubchatter · 08/09/2019 16:56

2.1 lb weight gain
Muscle mass up
Body water up

Knitclubchatter · 08/09/2019 16:58

I own no hormones that would affect my weight 😉, I’m 62.
But since the Sept 1 challenge I’ve upped my cardio.

RabidRabbles · 08/09/2019 18:42

I've lost 3lbs since my last weigh-in, so a total loss of 14lbs since July.

I think being a lot more active has helped. I cycle to and from school and work, and then I'm on my feet a fair bit too.

I don't get to post very often but it's nice to read everyone's updates and see how you're all getting on.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/09/2019 20:06

Solidarity @DrDiva hope tomorrow is better you can send them to school

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/09/2019 20:09

Thanks @SunshineCake I try and keep the GF flour based stuff for a sweet treat. It's probably better to avoid altogether. I don't think I'm celiac so it's more for an extra boost/see if it shifts my bloat.

boredboredboredboredbored · 08/09/2019 20:36

I'm still here too. Have run 20 miles over the past 3 days. It's usually a struggle with when I visit my partner on a weekend without my dc as he lives in a town with many fab restaurants. This weekend though I've really reigned myself in and feel much better for it.

I'm only weighing monthly and feel much better about myself aready.
