Lose 7lbs in August

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Good Morning All!! Well done on the great losses guys!

I weigh in tonight, at 7pm. It's a ball ache the class being so late while I'm off for the summer but will be perfectly timed once I'm back at work in September.

Off to Ikea today. Getting my steps in. 😉

I agree we need date gossip btw!

Have a great day everyone. 😊😊😊😊😊

dancingmom · 19/08/2019 11:06

Wow well done on losses and dates!!

Thanks for the motivational posts! I feel very on it today 😬😬😬😬👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

galvantula · 19/08/2019 11:24

Hi all, hope your Monday is good, I'm enjoying not being at work! Trying to keep 3 DCs worth of toys under control is proving an effort. I'm trying to convince them to sell/charity shop some old ones now that we've no babies in the house. 😏

I wrote a post and lost it yesterday.

Anyway my weight jumped up yesterday, but is back down to almost the same today - keeping my graph interesting. Grin

Still an overall loss though. I'm also feeling a little more comfortable in my work trousers than i was after my holidays.

I did resist having a snack with my wine and beer last night, kept my overall calories okish for the week.

More carrots and houmous planned for lunch today, Greek yoghurt and a little granola for breakfast.

Planning a cake date with a friend later in the week, I'll have to compensate with lighter eating the rest of the day. The cake slices are delicious but huge where we're planning to go. Cake

MrsJonesAndMe · 19/08/2019 13:19

I've had a very high stress day today (and it's only lunch time) - you know the one where it all goes wrong!? I waited till 16 hours had gone and then because I was starving and we were hitting Costa for "a snack" I had a small hot choc and a toastie which is better than cake and then lunch when I get home Blush This afternoon I have nuts and easy peeler if I need it and tea is curry and rice. Meal planning and shopping tomorrow after the weekend away - need to get the fruit and veg back up!

Well done everyone!

SunshineCake · 19/08/2019 13:37

Hello everyone

I'm clearly the dunce of the group as I'm up another pound. Calorie counting is not a real option. I already do two hours walking a day. I've cut right down on crap. I don't know what to do Sad.

cheesenpickles · 19/08/2019 13:52

@SunshineCake are you measuring as well as weighing. I've been fluctuating but I'm definitely shrinking. Photos help too!

SunshineCake · 19/08/2019 14:01

I did measure then promptly forgot all of them except one. Just measured around my tummy and I was 38, now I'm 37 but I have been 36 briefly.

Just so disheartened as emotionally I'm doing terribly.

galvantula · 19/08/2019 14:04

What is it that puts you off calorie counting sunshine?

I do mine in the my fitness pal app, but usually it's just approximate.
We cook from scratch at home a lot so I just pick something that sounds similar. E.g. some kind of similar chilli or curry, in a similar sounding amount. I really don't have time to work it out for every ingredient. I'll record the amount of rice/pasta whatever if that's what we're having.

I think I use it more as a "snack monitor" remind me to stop overeating. Just the act of logging something makes me more aware of what I'm eating through the day.

I agree on the measuring - my weight hasn't changed a lot in 2 weeks, but I am starting to feel the difference in my clothes.

galvantula · 19/08/2019 14:09

When I started calorie counting I was Shock at the fact my snacks at lunch and through the day added up to an extra meal of calories Blush

SunshineCake · 19/08/2019 15:50

galvantula - I cook nearly everything from scratch and it takes so much time to weigh and work out the calories as I rarely found a corresponding entry in MFP.

Northie · 19/08/2019 18:40

6.5 lb down (and AF is here in full force!). I genuinely can't believe it was 1 week ago today I started on here and I have lost nearly half a stone. This thread is so helpful to see others progressing and cheering each other on.

SunshineCake · 19/08/2019 19:08

Am I the only one who's put weight on in the run up to a period and hasn't lost anything yet ?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 19/08/2019 20:29

Been to weigh in. I gained a pound. 🤬 I have, in all honesty, followed the plan to the letter and this is really, really not deserved. I nearly walked right out of there and straight into the chippy across the road. 😂😂😂

But. My jeans are falling down and my appetite is shrinking. I'm wearing clothes that didn't fit five weeks ago. I will not let this get me down. I refuse.

Laura221 · 19/08/2019 20:48

Sorry I've been quiet for a while. I've not really been trying very hard so theres been no progress from me. My head is back in the game today though and I've had a really good day. Some really great losses on here. Well done everyone!

cheesenpickles · 20/08/2019 06:25

Woohoo! 1lb off and into the 160s. I need to do as much as I can this week before this weekend as I'm at a festival and will be drinking, then going to a spa which has meals included so I'll have to go off plan and then my birthday. Hope everybody has a good day!

Foreverlexicon · 20/08/2019 06:31

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa it’s so frustrating when the scales don’t play ball! But it sounds like it going in the right direction; you were probably just retaining water or something.

@SunshineCake you’re best off putting individual parts of the meal into MFP, it’s a faff but you can build your own recipes so you only need to do it once for each meal.

I was a bit hungry yesterday back on the shakes and then had lasagne and salad for tea. It feels like a habit already but I’ve noticed I’ve not been sleeping well since I’ve been on it. Not sure if it’s a coincidence; I do struggle with insomnia but I’m not stressed.

Okay you nosey lot Grin we met for a few Friday night drinks which somehow escalated into all the drinks, managed to miss my train home so went back to hers for erm more drinks (I don’t usually drink very much, I’m not sure how this happened!). Don’t actually remember going to sleep but I woke up clothed which is probably a good thing. Then just sat and talked ALL of Saturday and it was actually really lovely. We’re going to do an escape room and lunch on Sunday so we shall see what happens!

cheesenpickles · 20/08/2019 06:54

Awww that's so sweet @Foreverlexicon Smile I loved those first flushes where you stay up chatting all night. Hope the escape room goes well.

SunshineCake · 20/08/2019 07:06

Morning all.

Sorry I've been a grouchy thing.

One pound down this morning. Don't know how.

Foreverlexicon - I do input everything individually but rarely have exactly the same meal. Would it be okay if I at least did an approximation? For instance, dh has just made me breakfast and I've eaten half of it so no chance of full accuracy. He's been nagging me to eat better in the morning.

BustedDreams · 20/08/2019 07:16

Good Morning 😊.

Stayed on track yesterday. Soufflé omelette for lunch, then a piece of fish & salad later. Coffee with cream. We are away again renovating (forgot my ACV) and it’s always easier to get my steps in. Hoping to hit a daily 10k.

@Foreverlexicon Sounds lovely ❤️. Enjoy the first blooms of romance.

@cheesenpickles that’s great! 160s 👍

@Laura221 welcome back!

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa well done on swerving the chippy Grin

@Northie [wow] Well done!

@SunshineCake can you post a couple of days eating. We might be able to help you identify what isn’t working for you. Is there anyone in rl who can offer emotional support? Sorry to hear your struggling.

@MrsJonesAndMe sounds like it could have be worse! Small hot chocolate and a toastie isn’t so bad.

Whatever you’re doing I hope you have a great day!

Have a good day all! Yes @BustedDreams before I would have eaten all day long.

Did a yoga with Adrienne core thing last night - boy do I hurt, though everywhere but my core! Arms, shoulders, lower back and thighs! Blush Gentle one tonight Grin

doadeer · 20/08/2019 10:45

Feeling a bit deflated been tottering around the 13st mark for the past week, no weight loss. I have introduced a bit of cheese which I don't think is my friend. Need to go back to protein, veg and complex carbs I think. But given how horrendous my sleep has been with the baby I think I should take this as an achievement I haven't gone up and had a binge!

I should calorie count but I've just got so much on logging everything seems like so much work --- is it?

RiddleyW · 20/08/2019 10:57

I think with a new baby maintaining your weight and eating healthy food is a brilliant achievement.
