Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

@BustedDreams your hair is gorgeous!

@MarvelMum3 another hug of solidarity from me. DS was prem with CMPA and had awful reflux. The screaming and sleep deprivation were dire (and I’m not sure all the screaming was DS’s!! Grin ). I hope you are getting some TLC for you too! (He’s a lanky, sporty 7yo now, and we are finally successfully introducing dairy to his diet. Rung three on the dairy ladder and cautious optimism prevails.)

cheesenpickles · 18/08/2019 06:49

I feel you @RiddleyW! I'm wondering if I just need to up my activity a bit. Food wise I don't think I can do much more.

SunshineCake · 18/08/2019 07:03

Morning all Smile

I'm a pound up too but my period has just started so can I blame that as I'm 2lbs up since last Friday ?

RiddleyW · 18/08/2019 07:22

I think I might need to do the same Cheese but I’m honestly not sure how. I work full time then have a four year old with me my every other waking hour. Maybe a walk in my lunch hour

dancingmom · 18/08/2019 07:24

@cheesenpickles I was exactly the same before my period. Maybe eat a bit more and see if that boosts? I'm eating no less than 1400 a day and it's coming off...

Today 12stone 4 so another good pound off which is great and makes 13 lbs lost since start of thread and 5 or 6 since start of August. Really pleased. It's not easy for me and it's good to see progress finally as the start of the month felt slow after initial weight loss.

Having coffee and 20ml cream now and just ate two eggs and kale fried in butter. Resenting my husband who is still in bed and even now his sleep trumps mine. Ladies with babies this stuff doesn't get easier 😂😂 I might have to have a word as I'm exhausted after 3 days away with kids.

RiddleyW · 18/08/2019 07:25

Finding this thread helpful for times like this though - I can’t be hypocritical enough to say oh fuck this. Not when I’ve been dishing out (and meaning!) the “weight fluctuates, keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll get there advice”. 🤔

cheesenpickles · 18/08/2019 07:33

Might be an idea @dancingmom I think it's probably hormonal at my body adjusting. I've lost about 40lbs overall so my body knows what it's doing but obviously just slowing down a bit. I'm keen to get my waist circumference down and my % body fat so will keep plugging away. I think as well where I've added in a few treats (even though they've fit the lifestyle) and quit smoking (though not grazing) that's coincided with it so my body's is playing catch up. Might ease off on the odd treats for a week and see if it makes a difference. Just don't want to feel deprived and fall off the wagon. I've quit so much (granted bad stuff) lately!

BustedDreams · 18/08/2019 10:22

Good Morning 🙃

Thank you for the compliments on my hair.

We had a lovely lovely time at the Wedding Reception. The bride looked stunning as did her bridesmaids. The groom and groom men looked smart and very handsome. The room was full of love, happiness and generally a very feel good atmosphere. It was just what we needed, touching base with family and friends. It was very grounding and has given us both some strength to deal with an ongoing rl difficult situation.

The flip side of that was I had alcohol, not drunk 🥴 just nicely merry. With that, when I got home, came the munchies and I had gluten free chocolate cake with cream and a Kind caramelised pecan and sea salt bar. Perhaps not a lot by some standards but it will have gone over my cals for the day. Nonetheless it was totally worth it as the evening came as a complete package and we appreciated being part of the love vibe and connectedness that comes with celebrating a family wedding.

@RiddleyW I totally get where you’re coming from! In regards to August’s goal I might have lost 7 or 8lbs ... but I will have gained 5 or 6 back. This is because I’m up 1lb, down 2lb, up 3lb etc. I will carry on with my regime as I feel if I wasn’t mindful and calorie counting etc I would be gaining month on month and by Christmas I’d be a stone (or more) heavier. So I’m grateful overall I’m not gaining although I’d appreciate losing more iyswim. Well done on carrying on!

@cheesenpickles well done on your 40lbs lost! I’m struggling to get my middle down. As an older lady it’s proving very difficult to reduce my waist circumference further. Over 2 years I have reduced it from about 38 inches to 30-32 inches. My goal is to get below 30. The nhs site cites

@MarvelMum3 sorry to hear about your little one and your lack of sleep. Pleased to read it’s now settled somewhat. Take care lovie Flowers it’s tough being a mum to a baby with reflux.

@Northie that’s a cracking start! Well done!

Happy Sunday 😊

I am so envious of your lovely hair

cheesenpickles · 18/08/2019 12:06

Ah those still not like sensible ish munchies @BustedDreams and it's not like you go to weddings every day so totally justifiable.

My fil has made a meat and potato pie for my family tonight. Totally loaded with pastry and carbs, slightly tempted to do an extended fast (24 hours) and just have like a charcuterie style picky meal to break my fast. Just not hungry today.

Has anybody else found (particular if people) because of the length of time you're fasting you've suddenly become crazy organising focused?

I started with my wardrobe which has had a good purge because of weight loss (down to about 90 items with a view to getting it down more after I see what jumpers i wear this winter) and now I'm onto the rest of the house.

My husband is a bit of a neat freak so he's loving the fact his super messy wife who has never been organised in the entire 10 years of knowing her, is suddenly clearing and cleaning everything. I don't know whether it's a physical thing or a mental thing but I keep waking up and wanting to "get rid of all the things".

House is looking good though. Grin

cheesenpickles · 18/08/2019 12:07

Sound like sensible*

dancingmom · 18/08/2019 12:53

@cheesenpickles I did it for 12 hours last weekend 😂😂😂 YEARS worth. I think there's something very psychologically cleansing about losing weight... and motivating.

cheesenpickles · 18/08/2019 13:05

It's SO satisfying. Just a said to my husband my engagement ring is falling off and he just said "guess you could eBay it?" Grin

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 18/08/2019 14:05

Afternoon All,

I managed 13k on the bike yesterday, plus a beginners kettlebell workout on YouTube. I deffo ache today though, so rest day today then the same again tomorrow. 😊

Today's Food:

Brunch- Lm sausages, bacon, beans, eggs and mushrooms. (Couldn't finish it, my appetite is def shrinking)

D- Roast Beef - at my Mums. She knows I'm on SW so it should be very low in Syns.

Have a great Sunday everyone. 😊

MrsJonesAndMe · 18/08/2019 15:40

Hello everyone

Have been away for a few days so just back and logging on to see how you are all doing.

@BustedDreams your hair looked lovely and I'm glad you had a wonderful time. From your hair you definitely do not look like "and older lady"

@RiddleyW and @cheesenpickles keep plodding away.

Food wise then, Friday I did 16:8, but had a double decker, wrap and pop corn from Tesco and then roast chicken, new potatoes and salad for tea and trifle because MIL made it from scratch

Saturday: had the worst hot choc ever after 16 hours and then lunch was a jacket with ham and cheese & salad, few strawberries and salmon, new pots and salad for tea. Had a coconut macaroon at about 8:30 to stop me from telling MIL to herself Blush I do eat my emotions, but I stopped there

Sunday: broke fast after 14 hours for the 2nd worst hot choc ever and 1/2 a slice of chocolate cake. Lunch was another jacket with ham and cheese, tea will be kiev, chips and peas.

Overall not brilliant, but not really crazy either, so will step on the scales tomorrow morning and see what it says.

Hang on in there @MarvelMum3 Hope that you and your DD will get more rest.

BustedDreams · 18/08/2019 15:57

@MrsJonesAndMe Thank you 😊 Although truly I am. Definitely the wrong side of fifty, right side of sixty. My hair, although not as dense as when younger, is not really showing signs of going grey. It’s the only aspect of me that is not broken, wonky, lumpy, bumpy or shot to pieces Grin

@Boscoismyspiritanimal thank you.

Super lazy day on sofa recovering. OH is browsing NetFlicks to see if there’s anything he particularly wants to see as I’ve cancelled membership due to it increasing in price to £9.99. We haven’t watched anything for months, so it’s money down the drain.

Ahhhh another awful night of teething for us, I was awake every hour 🥴

OK day for me food wise, not my best.

Breakfast- tomato, avocado, cracker and a little mini cheese.

Snack- cherries
No lunch

Dinner - homemade fish pie then raspberry sorbet.

Need to up my veg intake as this has been working well for me. I've had a few days without weighing myself, just hope I havent gone back up. I've been getting lots of compliments saying I look slim which is great. Feel like I'm on the way to my old self. Just my massive thighs need to slim down! 😳

dancingmom · 18/08/2019 21:55

I've eaten too much dark fecking chocolate tonight Confused

Foreverlexicon · 19/08/2019 06:20

I’ve had an utterly crazy weekend.
I went on a date on Friday and drank all the alcohol in the world and didn’t make it home until 21:00 on Saturday Blush but barely ate as I was very hungover.

Yesterday I was at a regional final with the horse and nerves meant I barely ate although I ate everything when I got home and was starving. But whatever, back to shakes today; I’m not going to worry too much about what happens when I socialise as I think my weekdays are low enough.

Just about to nip out for a run and going for a walk with a friend this evening.

MrsJonesAndMe · 19/08/2019 06:31

Sounds like a good date @foreverlexicon, tell us more! Lives vicariously

Just about to get going for the day and see what the scales say after 3 days of doing whatever.

It's a new day @dancingmom

Hope you got more sleep @doadeer

Check in with you all later

cheesenpickles · 19/08/2019 07:30

Eek hope the date and horse event went well @Foreverlexicon

I'm down 0.7lbs so about 0.3lb from my lowest. Hoping I can get into the 160s for next week. I think my body has changed a bit despite the plateau and no inches coming off and despite sorting out my wardrobe out, a few things I kept back are starting to swamp me now. Grin

cheesenpickles · 19/08/2019 07:31

Lol just read-read about the date. Sounds like it went vvvv well Grin

RiddleyW · 19/08/2019 07:36

Another small loss here but overall pretty crap progress. Thing is I’m so big (like really huge) so it should be easier. Im so stalled.

BustedDreams · 19/08/2019 07:55

Good morning you lovely lot 😊

@Foreverlexicon do spill Grin ... it’s good for the soul ...

@RiddleyW Ive gone backward in my progress too. My body really changes if it has alcohol, carbs and sugar. I had all three Blush. That was then (totally worth it) and this is now. I’m back on it now!

@dancingmom new day, new week. 😊

Hope you all have a great start to the week. Chat later.

Hope weekends went well (ish!) and welcome back 😀.

1lb down on today’s weigh in, so back in the right kind of trend after a holiday. We’re moving house and this would be traditional stress eating time for me! I am hoping to lose another 3lb before a wedding on Sept 7th, but that might be pushing it a bit.

I am 8lbs down and losing some of the awful fat on my torso which was really getting me down. Once we move, I am looking forward to getting back into exercise - for both the endorphins and extra calories!
