Lose 7lbs in August

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

So to lose 7lb this month I'd need to get to about 130lb/59kg from the initial 62kg (ish). Not feeling entirely confident if this tbh, maybe need to try harder 😄

Evening @BustedDreams and all you other awesome lovelies! Welcome to new posters, this thread is very supportive and friendly. Breakfast: boiled eggs, Lunch: All bran fruit pot thingy with greek yog. Dinner will be homemade veg balti with brocolli rice. Well under 1200, so a cheeky glass of wine beckons. Just thought I'd share this, DD is a model and a size 8, often a 6. So, being the lovely mum I strive to be, I managed to track down and bid on and get her an original Mary Quant 1960s mini dress. It is a size 10. Black, with the iconic daisy chain around the waist, white trim. For those of you old enough to remember Twiggy in her hey day, its that sort of dress. Anyway, DD loves it, looks at the label, "shit mum its a 10! I don't wear a ten! "(Bloody wish I did, me mutters, wistfully). Anyway, she tries it on, and it fits. Just. Looks gorgeous. So, we measure it, and the waist is 18 inches, the bust and hips 32. Just goes to show, how sizing has changed.

SunshineCake · 16/08/2019 19:29

Thank you.

I've had a mash up of eating these last few days with being out all day with dd. Tomorrow it's PIL for a buffet lunch but I'm not sure what I can have as I suspect they've forgotten my intolerances but I'll eat once home.

galvantula · 17/08/2019 07:04

I started this thread on 2 August at 62.3 kg/137lbs. Really excited to say that I've lost the first kg so now at 61.3kg/135 lbs. Smile

I'm guessing some of it was bloating due to TOTM hormones but I'm not complaining.

I've been glad to log in here and get some chat and keep motivated.

Hoping this means in another 6 weeks I'll be back where I started a year ago, might not be that easy though.

Hope you have a good weekend... I'm off to work. 😒

BustedDreams · 17/08/2019 07:28

Happy Saturday!

Last couple of days I’ve been loving some strawberries I bought. At only 33 calories for 100g they are a healthy, relatively low sugar content fruit. Also the 2g fibre keep you regular Blush

@galvantula great! Enjoy your shift!

@Cary2012 I love your dress story. Yes I agree that sizing has really changed over the years! I bet your daughter looks beautiful.

@RiddleyW how are you? You mentioned a bad time at work. Hope you’re ok!

@SunshineCake Are you feeling any better lovie? We are hear if you need to chat/share what ails you. Take care.

Home made soup for a late lunch, perhaps 150 calories worth of nuts. Then next food will be at tonight’s function.

We are invited to a Wedding Reception. So it’s Operation get ready to be seen in public and try to not scare small children. Hairdressers later, bath & face pack planned and i will be painting my nails. Self tanned yesterday (only pale, it’s a decleor product, very subtle without the yucky smell). Quite looking forward to a night out and catching up with family & friends.

What’s everyone else doing this weekend? Whatever it is enjoy!

Morning! I'm down 0.7lb so currently at 170.4lb. I thought the weight fluctuation was because of bread etc but I now think it was totm. Hoping to see the 160s in time for next week. Just a chilled one this weekend. Hope everybody has a good one x

BustedDreams · 17/08/2019 09:11

@cheesenpickles nearly there darling, nearly there. 👍🌟

Thank you! So many times beforehand I would have just chucked in the towel but this thread has really kept me going.Smile

BustedDreams · 17/08/2019 10:17

@cheesenpickles that’s lovely to hear. We all need a bit of support. I generally don’t talk about my weight or eating habits in rl so this thread is invaluable to me ❤️ I’m grateful to every one who posts their stories!

@busteddreams - yes re the sizing - i had to buy new jeans after my big weight loss a few years back and i am now apparently a size 10 Hmm

I'm pretty sure I'm at least a size 12 from 15 years ago or so. I stupidly charity shopped and ebayed a load of my old jeans though, when i was convinced i'd never lose enough weight to fit any of them after my DC3 was born 4 years ago. We had a big wardrobe clearout and i was a bit more ruthless than usual. Usually a hoarder. Blush
Thanks again for the thread, it is indeed v supportive and motivating. I suspect I'll see you all in September Grin

I have had 3 weetabix for a very quick breakfast before i came out. I am at the mercy of the canteen for lunch though as DH ate all my nice houmous I had planned to have with carrots for my weekend lunches.

I'll try to have soup i think. the rest of the menu options look a bit stodgy/cheese loaded!

doadeer · 17/08/2019 11:03

I am absolutely exhausted. Planned too much in this week and I've been averaging 4 hours sleep with my son teething. I feel like I have a constant hangover except no fry up to make me feel better!

I desperately want to have a big binge and just hibernate in bed... But I didn't, I got up early for a vinyasa yoga class... Was shattered but I made it through. Proud I haven't caved in. Going to weigh in tomorrow but I think I'm still on about 9lbs for August.

Need to focus on lots of good nutritious food this weekend... I always feel better aftet lots of fruit and veg

Good luck this weekend lovely ladies - stay strong amidst the temptations!!! ❤️

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 17/08/2019 12:16

Afternoon all!

I'm doing SW SP days today and tomorrow, I'm determined to get my stone award on Monday, need a 1.5lb loss. SP days are basically minimal carbs so I'm having my homemade crustless quiche for lunch and then a stir fry for tea, that I'm actually really looking forward too - my tastes are slowly changing I think.

I had a great meal out yesterday and made great choices. I even had a glass of Prosecco without thinking "I've blown it now I might as well eat and drink everything". It was just a perfect balance. And I'm still not hungry 24 hours later! 😂

Before my quiche I'm going to do 10k on my spin bike - it's halfway trough the month and I'm deffo not halfway to my target of 80k - I won't be getting my medal at this rate!

@doadeer - you're doing really really well, be careful not to push yourself too much though.

Have a great Saturday all!

cheesenpickles · 17/08/2019 13:34

We've got a vegan diner kebab substitute to test out tonight (were not vegan or even veggie but we were intrigued!), flatbreads, tzatski (can never spell it) with salad and franks red hot for me. Also bought some low cal ice cream as an evening treat. Totted it all up and although it's higher in carb (about 50g) it's only 409 calories. So may have to eat some cheese later Grin

doadeer · 17/08/2019 14:14

@cheesenpickles that sounds delicious! Yum let us know how it is?!

I made some "healthy ice cream" this morning. Just mixed Greek yoghurt with 3 passion fruits and a handful of raspberries crushed with a fork and have frozen it. I also thought it might be nice for my little boys gyms when he is teething!
I also added some flaked almonds.

I'll let you know how it is!

BustedDreams · 17/08/2019 15:44

@doadeer take some time for yourself lovie, you’ll end up poorly. Is there anyone who can give you a day off and look after YOU for a change. Well done on resisting the binge 🌟

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I have everything crossed for you for your Monday weigh in! Let us know won’t you?

@galvantula Yes I will start a September thread the last week of August. I find these threads have evolved into supportive none judgemental safe place to share and vent if the need arises.

This is my late lunch of celery, apple and baby bell cheese. Didn’t fancy my soup as it’s gone really warm here. Something light before the Wedding buffet later.

This is my hair.

@BustedDreams your hair looks amazing!

SunshineCake · 17/08/2019 17:47

I'm finding it so hard as all these lovely meals are not available to me due to my stupid intolerances.

Breakfast was smoked salmon with chilli and garlic sauce as the salmon was use by today. Lunch was buffet at in-laws with very little I could have.

Can't remember if I weighed the same today or a pound more but I think I might be coming on early as I had spotting a few hours ago.

Planning quiet night watching tv with dh as kids are sulking.

SunshineCake · 17/08/2019 17:48

Just seen your hair, Busted. Gorgeous.

doadeer · 17/08/2019 18:28

@BustedDreams your hair is lush!!! ❤️❤️❤️

MarvelMum3 · 17/08/2019 19:34

HELLO!

I am still around, I've still been reading messages but I am sorry I haven't been posting. My little one has been so poorly this week (as I mentioned on Monday) with reflux and then constipation and not sleeping and we've had some screaming session that have lasted HOURS. And refusing to be put on her back to sleep so I have had very little sleep! If I've eaten this week, it's been junk food...

However, we have turned a corner today with both food and baby! She's back to her normal self and I have a pretty good day food wise - all bran for breakfast and pasta and salad for lunch. A few biscuits with a cup of tea with my grandma but I'm never going to be able to say no at there! ha ha And chicken and chips for tea!

Very glad to be back - let's hope there isn't too big of a weight gain on Monday!

Northie · 17/08/2019 19:55

I started this thread on Monday at 14st 3lb and this morning I was 13st 11.5 which means a 5.5lb loss! I've been gradually watching the scale go down and it's given me so much motivation. I haven't gone over 1,200 calories and I don't plan too. Still yet to see a difference in clothes but I'll get there. I found the first few days quite hard to resist snacking but I have managed to start to differentiate between hunger and boredom. Most of the time if I have a drink or keep busy I completely forget that I wanted X food.

dancingmom · 17/08/2019 20:33

I've missed the thread this week! We've been away and impossible to keep up.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. @MarvelMum3 take care it's so tough with reflux (had a dairy intolerant little boy too) we had to go total exclusion diet whilst BF and then nutramigen AA. So many things cross over to breast milk which can affect... anyway.

Have stuck to my diet all the while - amazingly enough. No idea what I weigh. Tomorrow morning we will see! I'd got down to 12 st 5 last week which was amazing to be under half way mark. I've taken some pics in mirror of my shape to try and remember how I used to look when I'm struggling. The camera don't lie!

Today has been hard as so tired. Tomorrow hopefully we will get out and about. Bored of weather.

Hello everyone sorry not to reply to everyone!

dancingmom · 17/08/2019 20:34

@BustedDreams lovely hair!!!!!!

cheesenpickles · 18/08/2019 06:33

Kids have woken me up stupidly early this morning and I'm up 0.8lb again. Slightly higher carbs yesterday but still within my acceptable range and snacked a little but no more than 1100 calories for the day total. I'm sure it's hormonal, totm, and waiter weight but argh, so frustrating. I've already done so well and I've just gotta keep going. I've measured as well and there's no change however my body fat percentage has gone down as well so that's something.

RiddleyW · 18/08/2019 06:40

Urgh another gain. I’m eating pretty well just doesn’t seem to be shifting. I guess all I can do is plod onwards and hope the general trend is down.

Love the hair Busted!
