Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

I was imagining you smacking the cheese and pepperami into your traybake 😂😂

Foreverlexicon · 13/08/2019 05:36

I’ve taken some desperate measures and started using meal replacements for breakfast and lunch.

A friend started and I thought fuck it why not?

With dinner and a couple of snacks I’m still getting about 1200 a day and I’m sure social activities will mean a blow out once a week or so but it’s actually really working for me. I mean i’m only on day 3 but found it very easy so far!

I just wasn’t sticking to calorie counting and the convenience of this is very helpful. I’m planning on doing it for about a month..will see how it goes! Hahahahaha

BustedDreams · 13/08/2019 06:56

Good Morning You Lovely Lot

Stayed on track yesterday. In fact I missed lunch, not intentionally. When I got home OH made me bubble and squeal with left over roast chicken. It was lovely but he had included chopped up roast potatoes which I don’t eat (I was gracious, said nothing but thank you and ate it all up!)

Sorry to hear a few of you are having struggles. That’s life for you sometimes though, best laid plans and all that. Weight loss/diet is such a complicated concept with many variable. Hormones, medications, blood sugar levels, illness/health conditions, feelings, obligation, opportunity, just plain and simple seeking comfort, filling an emotional void or eating our feelings. So with that being said be easy on yourselves, under those circumstances you’re doing great!

Sorry I’ve not replied individually as yet (intend to later today) I had a bit of a day of it myself yesterday and just didn’t have the opportunity to catch up on thread.

Be good and if you can’t be good be kind.

Morning @BustedDreams, no one expects your lovely long individual posts on a daily basis, we know you've got a life in the real world too! Wink Grin Hope you are OK.

Good luck @Foreverlexicon

How is it going @MarvelMum3?

Breaking fast at 13hours today as meeting a friend for coffee first thing.

Planning to be sensible for the rest of the day with soup and risotto and a lovely watermelon that needs eating.

Have a good day all!

socksforfox · 13/08/2019 07:18

Urgh. 1lb up. Will get that off and more this week but how?

RiddleyW · 13/08/2019 07:45

I got a free croissant with my coffee this morning. I don’t know whether to throw it away or keep it for lunch or give it away maybe. It’s thrown me!

FiveShelties · 13/08/2019 07:52

Morning everyone. Hope everyone has a good day and remember if you never had a bad day, how would you know when you had a good dayGrin

On that philosophical note I am off to cook dinner, which will be some chicken thing - sounds fantastic I know.

MarvelMum3 · 13/08/2019 07:54

Good morning everyone! And thank you to @MrsJonesAndMe for checking in and reminding me a world exists outside of my house 😅

Weigh in a day early: 120kg so 800g loss!! (1.3kg overall)

We've had a pretty poorly baby in my house this weekend! On Sunday her reflux got really bad she started refusing to feed and crying everytime we tried... So doctor's to get some baby gaviscon yesterday! First impressions seems to be good, by yesterday evening she was more settled! But with the exception of a couple of toilet breaks, I legitimately held baby for 12 hours yesterday because anything else made her cry 😭 This included carrying her to the doctors because she screamed her head of if she went in the pram or her wrap.... Fun times!

But this has meant that for two days food has been some combination of coffee, chocolate and takeaway. But this is okay, there was no way we'd have been able to cook. Back on track this morning with all bran and a banana for breakfast! And if baby carries on being settled, we're going to take her out for a walk later today! And honestly, my plan for dinner is to just cook dinner today and not order in!

I've had a read through the post and sorry to hear some of you are struggling - weekends are hard and for those whose TOTM it is, be kind to yourself - hormones suck!

FiveShelties · 13/08/2019 07:54

@RiddleyW if you had been desperate for a croissant, they would have sold out. Perhaps have it for lunch - or freeze it?

MarvelMum3 · 13/08/2019 07:54

Ah, sorry for double posting, my phone freaked out 😅

cheesenpickles · 13/08/2019 08:28

Morning all! 0.5lb off so it's creeping back down. My TOTM is super irregular (coil Hmm) so wasn't expecting It for a week or so more thankfully I think I've skipped the sweet cravings (the haribo last as just pure jealousy Grin). I forget I have a life sometimes. I work from home the majority of the time and the days just blend into fetching children, working and staring at the computer. I never leave the house unless I really have to. I should really get out more. Lol

Notopel · 13/08/2019 08:46

Morning 👋

@RiddleyW Wish I had a croissant 🥐 Warm with strawberry jam and a fragrant espresso. Bonus points for small cafe in Montmartre with a delightfully inattentive waiter.

Dieting has made me dream about food in a way that I’ve never done before. Find myself willing on Christmas for Panettone and creamy liqueur.

Back to reality, and Huel for breakfast. Cold is definitely the way forward. Think it’s a similar principal to beer - ice cold for the worst beers. Chocolate this morning. I’ve added more water which works better. Still bitty. A bit like drinking muddy puddle water.

cheesenpickles · 13/08/2019 09:14

I know what you mean @Notopel about Christmas Grin Though my big splurge is always cheese and thankfully that works with keto (score!) I'm missing really daft things like sweets. I never really ate sweets but keep dreaming about bloody gummy bears.

doadeer · 13/08/2019 09:37

Another horrendous sleep... My baby was awake about 6 times. Got a three hour train with him this morning - so nervous even though I've taken it about 5 times!

Another 1lb down that's a stone since mid July I'm so chuffed

Well done everyone remember we all have good and bad days, don't let the bad days make you feel like a failure - you're all amazing lovely women 💪

RiddleyW · 13/08/2019 10:00

Oh no doadeer! Nothing worse than continually broken sleep. My DS was an appalling sleeper until he was about 18 months and then became the most amazingly good one! I still appreciate the full night sleep now and he's 5.

Northie · 13/08/2019 11:34

Would like to join. Monday morning my weight was 14 st 3 lb. according to the nhs I am obese with a BMI of 33.9 (I'm only 5"4Blush). Currently forcing myself into size 12 vest tops and relying on leggings far too much.

I'm loosely following the slimfast diet.
Breakfast I will have a cuppa (no diet will ever make me skip that! And I'm never hungry when I wake up)
Dinnertime either a shake or meal replacement bar
Tea time it's a ready meal so I don't have to weigh or add up the calories.
I have the slimfast snacks at the ready to try and curb the evening munchies!

I do need to work on drinking more water though, I have a 2ltr bottle so I'm going to start filling it up with juice and drinking it throughout the day.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/08/2019 12:25

13.6 today which is 2.5lb off where I started.

Not looking like I'm going to get below 13 by beginning of sept but I'm aiming for slow and steady anyway.

I have afternoon tea with my sister later. Then the gym to balance that out. It will be sandwiches and cake but is also my breakfast lunch and dinner today.

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/08/2019 13:09

Not weigh in day yet, but thought I have to share that I'm now 7lbs down Shock Guessing I can do a few more lbs before the end of the month then!

Just had some soup which was really good, but tasted very salty. I must pull my finger out and batch cook home made ones!

Today is on track to be gluten free. I think I'm going to see if I can do September totally GF apart from my birthday as I want a home made cake! If that does help me loose the belly then I might do it permanently. Too hard in the holiday when there are things like kids pestering for McDs and service station stops.

Hope you are all getting on OK and glad to hear you've got some Gaviscon for baby @MarvelMum3. Here's to being able to put her down.

Hope train journey goes well @doadeer My "baby" is still a poor sleeper 7 years on Shock takes after DH

Somuchroom · 13/08/2019 13:48

@MrsJonesAndMe well done for getting 7lbs off already! You win! Seriously though that is brilliant and I’m only a little bit jealous Smile

I forgot to post my weigh in yesterday. I was scared about weighing after my junk food binge on Saturday but after getting back on the wagon Sunday, I’m pleased to report a 2lb loss. Don’t think I’ll hit the 7lb target this month but any loss I’ll be happy with.

I’m due a period any day and I’m finding I’m extremely hungry so am just focusing on not giving in and sticking to my calories.

SunshineCake · 13/08/2019 14:52

cheesenpickles I can't remember the brand but Sainsbury's sell sugar free gummy bears along with a couple of other types of sweets. I think they are gluten free and other things free too.

cheesenpickles · 13/08/2019 15:38

Ooh! @SunshineCake I'll have to hunt those out though I'll need to restrict my intake as the sugar free ones are infamous for their after effects Grin

Notopel · 13/08/2019 15:44

Think the hardest part of dieting is readjusting your idea of portion size.

This is 25g of nuts and 162 cal 🤯

@MrsJonesAndMe well done on the 7lb already 🙌👍

I’m weighing on Friday but don’t think I’ll be anywhere near that. Hoping for maybe 2lb.

socksforfox · 13/08/2019 17:04

Oh tell me about portion sizes! It's eye opening when one starts weighing things like peanut butter and the like
