Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Pigged out last night. Tried to get back on track today but ate 2 big cookies at work then came home and had an argument so I'm just pissed off and want to eat all the crap ffs. Trying not to be cross with myself but I just am.

Can I go to bed yet?

cheesenpickles · 09/08/2019 18:22

We had courgetti with chicken and tomato sauce for dinner, topped with roasted paprika cashew nuts. I took a risk giving the small fussy people courgetti but after some grumbling they ate it all up. Woohoo!

cheesenpickles · 09/08/2019 18:23

And I've got a stash of pepperamis for later Grin

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 09/08/2019 18:29

I've had two days of being at the seaside. I haven't gone mad, tbh funds wouldn't allow it. But I feel so bloated and crappy on the food that I have had. I'm going to aim for no syns over the next couple of days, and weigh in will be a day later so I may be able to balance the damage. Maybe but I doubt it. 😂

dancingmom · 09/08/2019 18:31

@BustedDreams that looks bloody good!

On the topic of weight I just wanted to say that we've got scales that measure fat, water, bmi, muscle and bone density and even though weightloss has been slow this last week all my other numbers heading in right direction. Fat has decreased by 2% and muscle up by the same... so don't get fixated on weight! Easier said than done I know.

@doadeer breastfeeding was amazing at helping me lose weight. I think it was the only time in my life where my metabolism seemed to work! Give yourself time... it will come if you're exclusively BF and eating well.

Cary2012 · 09/08/2019 18:57

Evening @BustedDreams and all you other lovelies! Well done @Oysterbabe. I am 3 lbs away from my healthy bmi range, and can't wait to get there. Breakie: hardboiled eggs, grapes. Lunch: small portion of wholewheat pasta with tomato salad and peppers. Dinner: homemade prawn jalfrazi with spinach and mushrooms, small portion of wholegrain rice. Enjoy your evening all x

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 19:23

Laura221 - pant your nails as you can't eat with wet ones.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 19:24

Or paint them..

cheesenpickles · 09/08/2019 19:39

Haha. Good tip @SunshineCake. I've become a bit addicted to depop and currently listing all my "fat" (and way too thin from when I was a size 6) clothes. apparently my complete and utter bonkers taste is doing well and I've already sold some stuff. Keeping it in my PayPal pot until I reach my goal weight then going to withdraw it and buy an amazing load of fab new clothes with it. Enjoying it a lot though as its fashion, writing and photography all in one. Might be a good little side-hustle to distract me from cakey-pains!

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 20:27

@Oysterbabe yes I’ve read that too.

@DrDiva that soup looks awesome and is one I will give a go. Usually make a batch of home made soup once a week. Usually the random whatever is in the fridge and needs using up flavoured soup Grin

@SunshineCake It’s definitely my stomach/middle that needs an helping hand. I did get down to about 30 inch waist at one point, but even though I’m even lighter now than then, it’s crept up a bit and won’t budge. Keeping the puppies company I think.

@Laura221 sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Don’t be hard on yourself. You’ve taken stock. Why not plan in advance what you’re going to eat tomorrow. Have a bath, early night and visualise how you WILL look in a few weeks/months.

@cheesenpickles Sounds delish and good the children gave it a whirl.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa welcome back. Hope you had a blast!

@Cary2012 You’re nearly there!! Fantastic!

Just unscrewed kid of ACV .... 🤢. I will be brave, hold my breath whilst drinking it and think of the slim tum to come.

Nighty night you lovely lot.

Today was.... well, let's just say I'm glad it's over. I'm sorry that I don't have time to reply to you all! But some amazing achievements as always - super motivating!

Had a complete binge in the middle of the night last night mainly to distract myself from the fact it was OH's first night at work. Baby was fine, took her a little while to settle after feeds but nothing major. I just couldn't relax - kept thinking that because he wasn't there something bad was going to happen. And obviously food was the thing to stop that happening Hmm

But then I honestly don't know what happened with the rest of the day! All I know is that I got nothing done except for looking after baby and was super stressed. I don't know if it was just because last night was so bad or some other reason I just found today quite hard. I didn't eat again until 3-ish because I forgot. It wasn't until the OH got up to pee and asked what I had for lunch I realized I'd been so focused on baby I forgot about myself. So he made me cheese on toast! And we ended up having pizza for dinner because I did not have the time or energy to cook anything else.

But it's ok. It's still early days with baby and its still early days trying to lose the weight - just need to focus on trying to make healthier choices where I can. And remind myself that it could have been worse - that binge could have continued for the rest of the day. And yes, the food I ate wasn't the healthiest, but I didn't overeat again. And we officially have no more chocolate or cake in the house so temptations are gone!

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 22:07

MarvelMum3 - how old is your baby? Your post reminds me of two nights I had when dd was properly tiny. One night dh was out at an interview and wasn't home until after 11pm and one night, well morning, we couldn't get dd to settle. Both times I/we just ate chocolate and crisps. It was fab Grin.

MarvelMum3 · 09/08/2019 22:51

@SunshineCake She's a month old tomorrow!! Grin So she is still tiny! I've just been desperately trying to avoiding eating crap so I don't feel like crap whilst also running on less sleep than normal! My OH was taking your approach when he off - chocolate and crisps all the way!!

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/08/2019 06:52

big (((hugs))) and a high five for getting through the night on your own. That is a big scary responsibility. It will get easier for you as your confidence grows.

Not much to report here. Restless night what with the stormy wind and all. Going to fast till lunch which would be 16hrs. Out for lunch so will make the best choice I can, then finish off the cherries this PM. Omelette for tea.

It's a new day @Laura221 you can do this Flowers

Laura221 · 10/08/2019 07:26

Marvelmum your doing so well! When I had my first my husband works nights and it was so hard.

Thanks everyone, feeling better this morning even with a bad nights sleep. Weighed myself and haven't gained anything so that's a bit of luck. Going to have a chilled day at home with my girls and stick to my plan. Yogurt and fruit for breakfast, flatbread, salad and cheese spread for lunch and linda mcartney burger and roll with salad for dinner. And I'm sure I'll squeeze some snacks in ;) here's hoping today is a better day x

RiddleyW · 10/08/2019 07:27

I had a day like this last week - it’s so hard not to get cross with yourself. I don’t want to sound like a self help book but something that is helping me a little is to really think about your internal monologue on this. Be kind - what is the kind thing to say/do the thing you’d say to a friend.

RiddleyW · 10/08/2019 07:28

Oh sorry cross posted there but glad you feel better!

crummyusername · 10/08/2019 07:32

Sooooo.... the Huel experiment didn't go so well

I made one up for dinner last night (and put in the fridge for a while first as recommended by @chutneypig. Got it out of the fridge and had a try but couldn't drink it... really tried and was really quite hungry but it made me feel sick. Not sure if it was the texture or the vanilla flavour. May have been the vanilla and I'm going to contact Huel and see if I can swap my 2nd bag for chocolate flavour, but if not I think I'll have to give up on that idea.

chutneypig · 10/08/2019 08:08

Oh dear @crummyusername. I’m sorry to hear that. Definitely worth a try asking for a swap. They also do little sachets of different flavours you can add in which might be worth a try to see if one works for you. How many scoops did you go for? I usually have two full scoops in 400ml of water which seems to give a pretty smooth texture as long as I give it a good shake before and after it’s in the fridge,

cheesenpickles · 10/08/2019 08:14

Eeek. Well don't @MarvelMum3, my husband works night shifts and I was terrified of being at home with mine as babies when he was. You've done well.

Sucks about the huel, hopefully it's a flavour thing. I always looked at it but I am a bit of a foodie so probably not the best target customer.

Off to a festival today (yep, another one!) and the weather is FOUL! I was so grumpy I couldn't sort childcare/HD's calendar so we could stay and camp but SO relieved now. High winds and rain. Blugh. Going to take spare clothes and a towel and leave it in the car. Only slight issue will be trying to get low carb dinner this evening from food stalls.

I'm down another 0.1lb this morning too so happy with that. I'll start getting bloated next week so getting mentally prepared for the scales to creep back up. I can also now properly feel my hip bone for the first time in a decade. I was laying in bed last night poking it with glee. Grin

cheesenpickles · 10/08/2019 08:14

Well done even Blush

crummyusername · 10/08/2019 08:14

I made up 3 scoops / 600 ml. Maybe should have tried the blender rather than just shaking. I think it’s the vanilla smell which you can’t really mask with other flavours. But I’ve not given up! Let’s see if they let me swap.

crummyusername · 10/08/2019 08:15

@dancingmom which scales do you have? I’ve been thinking of getting some like that but I looked at various amazon reviews and got confused.

cheesenpickles · 10/08/2019 08:16

@crummyusername I used to hate the vanilla exante vanilla shakes and used to blend in some instant coffee to make it into like an iced latte. Would that work?

crummyusername · 10/08/2019 08:20

Ooh there's a thought @cheesenpickles, the coffee might be strong enough to hide the vanilla! (I tried cocoa powder last night but that really was revolting!)
