Lose 7lbs in August

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Yaaay! Well done Oyster, that’s amazing

LemonBreeland · 09/08/2019 10:27

Well done Oysterbabe that is an incredible achievement. you should be so proud of yourself.

@BustedDreams I am also at 27.3 with another stone to go to be healthy BMI although I'd like to lose another 7lbs after that.

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 10:48

Are we twins @LemonBreeLand Grin. Yes ideally I’d rather achieve mid range bmi to allow wiggle room. Not sure if I’ll achieve that though as my bazookas are huge and don’t seem to be shrinking 😮 They must weight 1/2 stone each! 😅

cheesenpickles · 09/08/2019 10:54

Yes @Oysterbabe that's amazing! I've gone from 32 to 27.5, so not far from that level yet. It's soooo gratifying to see it go down.

AngelaScandal · 09/08/2019 11:15

Oysterbabe well done 👍

dancingmom · 09/08/2019 11:19

@BustedDreams I might have to copy that lunch soon!

Oysterbabe · 09/08/2019 11:27

Thanks everyone!
I'm an apple so still plenty of belly fat to work on but I'm very happy with the progress.

AngelaScandal · 09/08/2019 11:30

@BustedDreams I hear ya about the boobs. Mine are the size of a small child’s head at the moment

LemonBreeland · 09/08/2019 12:00

@BustedDreams I think we are twins Grin. I also have massive boobs, currently 30GG, if I was flat chested I'm certain I wouldn't be overweight. My old ideal weight was around BMI 22, but I would be happy with 23.5 now.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 12:01

I was advised to do a tablespoon. Some would need more. I think one is enough. It's not the nicest drink!

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 12:02

I misread, thought you said teaspoon, BustedDreams, apologies.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 12:09

Well done Oysterbabe..

I've just been on the NHS website and I'm overweight. Wants me to lose minimum of 1 stone 13 lbs but normal lower end would have me as 5 stone lighter!! Five stone?! That is ridiculous.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 12:10

BustedDreams I did once weigh my boob and it was indeed 7lbs Grin.

Alaimo · 09/08/2019 12:50

Yesterday was the first time since I started dieting 3 weeks ago that I had enormous cravings and caved in. Had a healthy lunch, but then also ate the remainder of the chocolate bar that was in the cupboard, a chocolatey cereal bar and several spoonfuls of peanut butter straight from the jar. Perhaps unsurprisingly, these cravings coincided perfectly with the start of my period...

Oh well, another day today. Off to the shop to buy some chewing gum as I do notice that it stops me from snacking.

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 14:11

@SunshineCake 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Talking of weighing our puppies, once during a mammogram the nurse was handling one of the darlings to get it in position. She paused, looked puzzled and then exclaimed ...’we’re going to need a bigger plate’ Blush

@LemonBreeland you have a smaller back size ... I’m envious Grin

@dancingmom it was delish 😋 By the time I got to make it I had tweaked it somewhat. OH wanted a bacon butty and the pack needed using up so I used the left overs to make strips of crispy bacon, added strips of chicken fillet, kale, white cabbage, red pepper, leak, chilli, butter, oil. At the end about a tablespoon of double cream. I must say it was rather delish.

Flowers @Alaimo Hope the gum helps

Amazing inspiration @oysterbabe Halo

Thanks @busteddreams I only started about 6 weeks ago on 50mg with bloods to see if it's working well soon. I feel better already so fingers crossed they don't mess with the dosage and it keeps improving.

Period has finally showed up here too after 4 days of spotting, scales slightly up but ploughing on with the the plan as it's generally working.

I had 15 hours fasting, a Mrs crimble thingy, soup for lunch, cherries and nuts and tea will be curry and rice with some spinach.

Have a good day all, you're all winning by just being on here and working on it!

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 14:18

@Alaimo fluctuating hormones can wreck the best efforts to eat clean & healthy. Well done on implementing a strategy to help thwart it happening again. Perhaps allow yourself a bit more nutritious but comforting food attotm. Such as a risotto or curry with a portion of brown rice or mashed sweet potato. Sometimes it is what our mind & body needs. Hope you’re not feeling too under par with it!

@doadeer that salad looks bloody lovely 😋

doadeer · 09/08/2019 14:34

Thank you the tuna looks a bit yuk but it was really tasty!!

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 16:58

All your meal suggestions and reports are making me feel envious as there's usually something in them I can't have. I'm going to have pasta, sweet corn, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese for tea. Gluten and lactose free where necessary.

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 17:36

I’m psyching myself up to take This ACV tonight.

I know a few of you take ACV. What benefits have you noticed?

Stayed on track so far today. Scales show a 3lb loss since I weighed about 10 days ago (did buy some cheapy scales for when away, but they are Inaccurate and not consistent). I am not expecting to lose 7lbs this month as weight loss naturally slows the nearer to goal you get but pleased so far this month. Hope it sticks!

Oysterbabe · 09/08/2019 17:39

In the Dr Fung book it talks about ACV reducing the insulin spike after eating, it can slow the emptying of your stomach so keeping you full longer. I always drink it before a carb heavy meal.

DrDiva · 09/08/2019 18:15

I tried ACV. Can’t say I noticed a difference. What should I have noticed/what was I doing wrong?! 😄

Those salads look delicious.

I made this soup it was so yummy. Even forgot the milk, and it was still good.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 18:18

I was told it helped with the liver iirc. Though I've seen stuff about getting rid of stomach fat.
