Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

@doeadeer @cary2012 think the at home exercise is such a good thing. It takes a bit of motivation but saves so much time! As long as you work up a sweat who cares where you do it... easier with kids. There are some brill free videos on YouTube too for bodycoach

Cary2012 · 08/08/2019 20:27

@dancingmom, thank God I no longer have the horrible hormonal related totm swings. And you've stuck to your macros, so that's brill. Better than sticking to MaccyDs Grin. You've got this ! Flowers

SunshineCake · 08/08/2019 20:28

Today I feel good. I feel in control as opposed to out of control with eating. This means eating the wrong stuff or not enough of anything then eating crisps and hating myself. Portion control is smaller and I'm using smaller plates.

doadeer · 08/08/2019 20:30

@dancingmom I'm not a very good home exerciser just never push myself.... I'm trying to get better! I do 3/4 classes a week though. Two with my baby, one evening and one weekend. I feel amazing after

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/08/2019 20:30

I'm finding the thread hard to follow. It's very busy, I'm rubbish with names and I have thyroid fog - improving as I'm not medicated... sorry all. I'm reading, honest.

I feel quite flat today - like I've done it now and don't need to prove anything else which of course is completely untrue. The weight didn't come on in a week! Sugar and carbs has been my crutch for so long. And been spotting for 4 days now, so hormones out of kilter.

So - positives:

  • cut out Coke completely for 12 days now
  • taking my thyroid meds and mostly remembering the iron too
  • reduced (pretty much cut out) the vast quantities of biscuits, chocolate bars and bread products
  • increased fruit and veg intake
  • got back into doing yoga daily; even if only 15 mins/half an hour
  • having the energy to brush my teeth at the end of the day before bed Blush Blush honestly, thyroid problems are horrendous!

Today was a bit snacky, so will aim to be more mindful tomorrow.

@MarvelMum3 I know it's frustrating, but just take it very easy. Your body has gone through a lot!

@doadeer I'm sure the combination of yoga and pilates will help with your core which the physio told me would help the hips...and it did!

Safe travels @BustedDreams

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/08/2019 20:33

now medicated FFS, we need an edit button!

crummyusername · 08/08/2019 22:41

mrsjones those are HUGE positive steps, don't do yourself down!! Cutting out excess biscuits, chocolate and bread surely will make a big difference!

My day today went ok. Had a salad for lunch so was starving by the end of the work day. BUT!! My Huel arrived which I plan to use for work lunches instead of salads. It is beautifully packaged with a nice leaflet (and even a t shirt). I am out with kids all day tomorrow but may have it for dinner. I will report back...

crummyusername · 08/08/2019 22:41

Should have mentioned I went to the gym too. Not just relying on meal supplement hopes!

Notopel · 09/08/2019 03:07

👀 - interested to see results on Huel. I’ve been debating it myself but worried about how it tastes. Would be useful for breakfasts once school term etc resumes. Currently having protein based - omelet etc, but would be useful to have something like this instead when pressed for time.

FiveShelties · 09/08/2019 03:43

@DrDiva - I have been in NZ since 2003. My Mum is in the UK so come back to the UK three times a year. How long have you been in the UK? Are you from the NI or SI?

This thread is so fast moving this month, hope the weight shifts as quickly. Just planning the week-end food now and trying to be more organised, not sure how long that will last though.

Have a fantastic week-end everyoneGrin

Foreverlexicon · 09/08/2019 06:19

Right food plan today;
Weetabix with dried fruit
Weird mix up salad of leaves, cucumber, chicken, potato salad and coleslaw and fruit for lunch
Apple for a snack
Gammon stew with veg and a slice of garlic bread for dinner
Chocolate mousse for pud.

Hoping to ride the horse if weather isn’t too terrible

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/08/2019 06:34

Thank you @crummyusername I have to make the changes, it was getting out of control! Good luck with the shakes.

Sounds good @foreverlexicon but I think it looks very wet at the moment (here anyway)

Well done@DrDiva on your loss and @SunshineCake on taking control.

crummyusername · 09/08/2019 06:35

Sounds good foreverlexicon. Hope the salad is enough to keep you going in the afternoon!

I had a big glass of wine with a friend last night, now I feel bleurgh. Need to detox today with some good healthy food but am with the kids and out of the house so it’s gojng to be a more challenging day.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 07:05

Morning all and thank you MrsJonesAndMe..

I need to take control of the scales now. Weighing every day is probably not the best thing though I'm down another pound.

My new go to snack is cucumber sticks with hummus instead of crackers. Bad thing about drinking more water was I was up in the night so I'm shattered already but it's raining which is great for my garden and my two sons are home today after being away since Monday and Tuesday respectively. Not sure respectively is the right word there ?

A win - didn't have crisps last night.

Hope everyone is well and you all have a good day. This thread is helping me keep focussed. Thank you.

cheesenpickles · 09/08/2019 07:06

Yikes! So Clubbercise was a tad intense. The lady running it was really lovely and friendly and (in a non-judgmental way) bigger than me so I thought "hmmm maybe this won't be too intense". Turns out she was an ex-West End dancer and bloody hell could she move. I nearly vommed at one point and my heart rate went to 180 Shock It was good fun though and I'd definitely do it again. I ended up doing 300% of my calorie target and 18k steps yesterday. Busy aches but I'm 1.6lb down this morning so broke my stall for sure now.

chutneypig · 09/08/2019 07:17

@cheesenpickles that does sound a challenge for sure, especially so often. Preemptive weight loss is a good plan.

@MarvelMum3 exactly what I’ve been trying on the pause. I’ve been aiming to leave a third of the food as well, so I try everything but inevitably don’t take in all the calories.

I hope you enjoyed it @crummyusername and that you can chill it somehow for lunch, or use cold water. The texture can be a bit floury otherwise. I find it so convenient for breakfast @Notopel. I make it up the night before, leave in the fridge and just quick shake before I drink it. It did take me a few days to get used to the sweeteners, but nothing too much.

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 07:48

Good morning :) How are you all?

@cheesenpickles I rarely drink but if I do it’s a slim line g&t. Occasionally a glass of red. Mostly I have sparkling water if in a pub. Not unknown for me to ask for a pot of tea or carafe of coffee Grin

@RiddleyW pleased to read you’re feeling more positive!

@Notopel welcome and well done on making a start. Similar happened to me. Was 7st 8lbs , stuff happened and I let myself get to 9st 8lbs. total denial. Next weigh in 12st [wow] . Don’t let this be you!!! I’m now just under 10st. I will never ever allow myself to self sabotage to then balloon up to 12st again. BTW I’m only 5ft so looked moooosive!

@dancingmom I feel your pain. Although I’m sure your lovely really! Not hideous. Although I agree, It’s such a shock when we see recordings of ourselves and the reality doesn’t match the image in our minds eye. Well done on sticking to your macros!!

@Foreverlexicon Glad for you that you got a grip before you undid all your hard work and effort.

@SunshineCake Great that you’ve turned a corner and feel great! I use smaller plates too, and I also have a small bowl I use. Very useful for portion control.

@MrsJonesAndMe. Thyroid issues can make losing weight extremely hard and totally zap energy. Pleased to hear you’re not on meds. Is it thyroxine? How much do you take? You’re list of positives is inspiring! Well done! And thank you, we had a safe journey. We came home a day early as the weather forecast for today was very bad.

Loved reading everyones updates. You are an inspiring bunch. Food shop being delivered today. I’ve bought ACV again (not had in a while as the taste is yucky). It’s supposed to be good for so many things. I’ve got the one that’s live and with it’s mother. I plan on having first thing, necking it down in a glass of water.

Morning all, yuck I hate this rain. It really affects my mood. Nevertheless... plan today is: bulletproof coffee (drunk), home exercise in a min, lunch salmon and feta salad, dinner chicken coconut curry with veg in it (no rice). I make it quite soupy so I have the additional liquid and the family have rice. 👌🏻 have been having a couple of squares of 85% Green & Blacks which is high fat and very little sugar and therefore keto friendly! That really takes the edge of in the evenings when I need something. Have a good day.

cheesenpickles · 09/08/2019 07:58

Ohhh I love some 85% chocolate. The Aldi version is fab as well and comes in little individual bars too!

RiddleyW · 09/08/2019 08:06

Down a bit this morning! So total loss for August so far is 2.2lbs. That’s not too bad considering the first week I was on holiday, so probably won’t make the target but you never know.

It’s jumping about all over the place anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 08:08

@dancingmom sounds a good plan! I’m having buttered kale and leak with stir fried chicken strips for lunch. Spag Bol with veg for evening meal. At some point a coffee with cream. This morning a nice long black coffee. Raining buckets here, so pleased we travelled back yesterday.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 08:15

BustedDreams I also have the apple cider vinegar. For anyone interested it really does need to be the one from the mother and you are better drinking it in the evening once you've finished eating for the day as it has all night to do it's magic.

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 08:35

@SunshineCake thank you for the tip! Tonight it is! How much do you add to your water? I was just thinking a tablespoon full. Would that be enough to provide a therapeutic effect?

Oysterbabe · 09/08/2019 08:51

0.8lbs off for me this week. That brings me to 43lbs lost in total and finally a healthy BMI. I think I'm going to lose another 7lbs to bring me to a nice neat 50lb loss then maintain. I'm pretty happy with how I look now but there's definitely still fat to lose.

BustedDreams · 09/08/2019 09:12

@Oysterbabe that’s fantastic! What an achievement 👏👏👏👏👏

I’ve a way to go yet as I’m 27.3. I need to lose another stone to get in healthy range of 24.9
