Lose 7lbs in August

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Good morning ladies

@Obviouslynotallthere of course you can join us & welcome. For me I’m not on a diet as such. I’m developing and ingraining more healthy ways of eating. So for me it’s a long term thing. I won’t be going back to pie & chips twice a week, full portion chip shop fish & chips on Friday and anything goes at the weekend. If I did that I would be back at square one +some. Neither do I ban anything. So if I fancied something I’d have a smaller portion but still remain within my TDEE. At the moment I’m eating TDEE -500 to create a deficit.

@Cary2012 I’m a fellow gherkin lover!

@FiveShelties What a great loss for July. You’ve not far to go now. You can do it!

@Boscoismyspiritanimal Thank you 😊

@flowerycurtain Welcome. Yes it’s really important to get in the right head space and manage stress, which we know is easier said than done.

@Foreverlexicon sounds like a plan. It’s important to not allow yourself to get ravenous as that’s when we can eat uncontrollably.

@chutneypig I’d wrote the above statement prior to reading your post. You are bang on! Hope you don’t cave when you get in.

@Oysterbabe You are doing fantastically well. You are inspiring!

@suchsweetsorrow82 hows your holiday going? You have a great plan there. Sounds very sensible. It’s important to have something enjoyable to look forward to and food is central to most memory making events. Enjoy!

@rushka Can I come to yours for supper? I’ve always fancied an Hog Roast Grin

@DoubleshotCoffeeplease well done! It’s very easy for 1 biscuit 🍪 to turn into 10 😮. They don’t even register in your tummy until the packs all gone and you start to feel sickly and guilty.

For those wanting to check their BMI

*@Oysterbabe * fantastic

Not having a breakfast today, just a cup of tea. Lunch will be scrambled eggs with a slice of wholemeal toast, and some greek yoghurt and fruit.

Tea is going to be salad and fish. No wine since last Saturday!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 02/08/2019 09:28

Oh my goodness....
13.10 is my starting point. I've put on 6lb in 9 days of holiday - AI is definitely bot my friend despite choosing salads a lot of the time and swimming. I blame the cocktails.

Oysterbabe · 02/08/2019 09:47

I find holiday weight comes off fast. I gained 10lbs on honeymoon, 90% of which was pina coladas Grin

cheesenpickles · 02/08/2019 10:27

My body is NOT playing ball at the moment. I'm up 0.8lbs today. I've been a tad more lax with the carbs (going up to about 40/50g) but still intermittent fasting as well (min 20 hours). I'm wondering if quitting smoking is adding to hit and possible insulin spikes from my vape. I'm still lighter than I've been in years. Tempted to do a longer fast as well. Calories wise I'm well within my deficit, drinking tonnes of water, no diet fizzy drinks etc. Welp. I'm not sure whether to just hold fire and keep going and see if it adjusts or do something more drastic.

Shecanmoveinanydirection · 02/08/2019 10:29

d2! This thread is moving very fast- have skim read. Hope the mums with new babies are being gentle on themselves - it can be so exhausting. I am going to daily weigh for this month and am at 11st 9.0 today. Happy with that. Have got my meals planned today which is making will power easier. Well done everyone on losses so far. Looking forward to seeing another 6lbs disappear this month.

beenrumbled · 02/08/2019 10:47

Change of food plan today - DH was at hospital today and passed a fresh fruit stall on his way out. He bought me cherries (luxury) and strawberries and blackberries - as they are soft fruit and I hate waste I'm going to have to tuck in - enlisting DD and DS2 to help.

So I'm now having a mid morning snack.

dancingmom · 02/08/2019 13:09

@BustedDreams my kids had fish and chips yesterday and it was terrible not having any!!!

@MarvelMum3 I did a pedicure instead 🙌🏻🙌🏻

@Cary2012 yes still feeling fatigue but not at 2 week mark yet so am hopeful it might pass... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Bit of busy morning and have cleaning and dog walk to do so that will earn me a few steps. I struggle to do them otherwise... 926 so far which is pathetic!

BustedDreams · 02/08/2019 13:25

@dancingmom well done on abstaining. To be honest I don’t know how you did that if they were right in front of you. That’s some will power 👍

Ah feeling a bit better about my gain. I just tried the dress on I wore to my hen do over seven years ago and it fits! It's a size 14 as well and I've been buying clothes in a size 18 for quite a few years now. Woohoo! That's enough to keep me going :)

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/08/2019 13:37

Well done @Oysterbabe and @cheesenpickles must be a great feeling.

So far so good here. Did 14 hr "fast" I know it's not really in the territory some of you do, but it was fine. Learning to reset the must have a Costa hot choc and pastry after the school run habit.

I've had:

nut/seed/choc bar thing
soup with ancient grain loaf

planning:
FF plain yogurt, strawberries and nuts
chicken breast, chips and coleslaw

Not been very busy/active today, but did some pilates this morning.

Thanks again for starting the thread @BustedDreams - just the support I need!

cheesenpickles · 02/08/2019 13:45

@MrsJonesAndMe thanks! Over the moon about it actually. And that's a really good fast. I started off with shorter fasts and built up. Tbh it's super freeing not having to worry about what to eat and calorie counting for most of the day!

dancingmom · 02/08/2019 14:24

@cheesenpickles such a good feeling!

@BustedDreams I wasn't in the best of moods i will admit... Grin

galvantula · 02/08/2019 14:40

I'd like to join in please.

I've done really well maintaining a 3 stone weight loss the last few years, I usually put on a couple of pounds, then lose them over and over again.

galvantula · 02/08/2019 14:50

Oops hit post.

This time I kept putting on a few more and in on the edge of descending into a comfort eating mess.

Hoping to get motivation to keep at it.

I'll go back to logging on MFP and just eat less crap basically Blush

RiddleyW · 02/08/2019 17:17

I’ve found today quite hard! Lots of biscuits on offer as we’ve been visiting family. I’ve done ok I think. I’ve also just thrown out half a leftover pizza from last night so I can’t eat it when DS is in bed!

Crayolaaa · 02/08/2019 17:23

Today I learnt how calorific mayonnaise is! What a waste!

rushka · 02/08/2019 18:54

Evening all! The hog roast (at a village event) was disappointing! Very small portions & I gave half to my son as his kid’s portion hardly hit his sides! So, I came home and have had a hot cross bun, a nectarine & a cup of tea. It’s nice to be doing the intuitive thing as I can eat that and it’s not ‘wrong’. I did tot up my calories and i’ve had around 1300. Generally, I aim for between 14-17k as I find if I aim too low I binge, but I’m feeling all right on 1300 this evening so will try to stop & just have some mint tea later.

I have had the revelation today that it’s not tiredness that triggers my over-eating but stress and so I feel this is more within my power to control as it’s largely based on how I schedule my diary. So I am encouraged that this means I can make progress!

Cary2012 · 02/08/2019 20:04

Evening everyone, what a great supportive thread, thanks @BustedDreams. Breakfast: homemade banana and egg pancake. Small. (Just egg and banana, pinched off SW, don't tell 'em). Topped with a blob of Skyr and lots of strawbs. Lunch: pathetic amount of hummus, wanted to keep it around 100 cal, with loads of carrot sticks and four water biscuits, few grapes. Dinner: homemade burger (no bun), tons of salad. Well under 1200 cals, so going to have a glass of red. Deliberately cut carbs today, so quite happy. Onward and downward lovelies! Wink

cheesenpickles · 02/08/2019 20:17

Did a 24 hour fast and broke it with mortadella and some fried halloumi. Chucked some pickles on the plate too. Picked up some Carb Killa Grenade bars and just treated myself to a Birthday Cake one. I know it's not realllly keto friendly but OMG was so good. Sucker for sprinkles. Got my heart rate up today for 60% at 60 mins walking to Tk Maxx and then tried some size 14 jeans on - no stretch - and they fit!!!! Ended up buying a jumpsuit to wear for a night out tomorrow. Feeling sooo happy. Grin

Night out tomorrow so opting for a fillet steak, ditch the chips and will either be on gin and diet lemonade or vodka lime and soda and will dance my arse off. Wink

Cary2012 · 02/08/2019 20:22

@cheesenpickles , enjoy your night, dancing your slim arse off!

cheesenpickles · 02/08/2019 20:25

GrinGrin

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/08/2019 21:28

Amazing @cheesenpickles

Well done @rushka and @RiddleyW - small steps add up to big gains.

I've scrapped the thought that "Ancient grain" bread agrees with me. Had some after 2 days of no gluten and swollen like a balloon Sad Going to go GF now! as best I can

How are you doing @MarvelMum3 and @xJune88?

Yikes @DrMadelineMaxwell but the only way is down now Grin

FiveShelties · 03/08/2019 06:25

@BustedDreams the deleted post was just a spam thing - poster was on lots of threads with a link - I did not click! Don't think it was anything to do with losing weight thoughGrin
