Lose 7lbs in August

BustedDreams · 27/07/2019 12:07

Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Way upthread someone talked about their breakfast of yoghurt, nuts, and fruit. Inspired me to make a healthy afternoon snack instead of the biscuits I usually reach for...

dancingmom · 01/08/2019 20:03

@Cary2012 diet buddy! I can't believe I ever weighed 10 stone but I did ONCE. I'm feeling so bloody determined this time. Your day sounds v tasty. I had sea bass with pesto butter and salad which was 👌🏻 It's evenings I get bored and feel picky. Going to watch ep 2 of Der Pass tonight and take my mind off it.

BustedDreams · 01/08/2019 20:05

@MarvelMum3 Thank you!

@MrsJonesAndMe. I agree the lower end bmi sounds too low. I’d be happy to hover around 9st.

@dancingmom well done on sticking to plan. Not always easy when temptation is in our path.

@Boscoismyspiritualanimal that’s why these threads are great. Full of support and fresh ideas.

I’ve remained on track all day even when under some stress. Normally I eat chocolate 🍫 but I haven’t. Pleased with myself.

Shattered so nighty night and chat tomorrow. Sweet dreams.

Can I join please. I have successfully lost weight a number of times before using WW. BUT I cannot maintain and end up back at square one again and again. I'm fed up with paying for WW and want to be independent and learn how to do it for myself if you see what I mean. I need to lose at least 1 and a half stone

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/08/2019 20:19

I'm an ex ww-er. I have done well with it in the past and got down to a healthy BMI goal of 10.13. Which is a complete dream now and I can't imagine being that slim.

Since then I've put on 3 stone due to a combo of bad habits/a bad hip and inactivity/a hip operation and further imposed inactivity/losing my Dad to cancer and having no desire to concentrate on me with all that going on/diagnosis of TN and prescribed gabapentin with the weight gain that has as a common side effect.

First mini goal - find out the damage tomorrow from this week's AI holiday and undo that damage asap.

2nd mini goal - get into the gym habit and see what i can fit in around everything else I'm doing this month.
3rd mini goal - get below 13st as I was mid July.

Cary2012 · 01/08/2019 20:25

@dancingmom, I have a pickled gherkin in the evening if I feel picky! Not everyone's idea of heaven I know, but I luffs them! Do you get tired doing keto? I am lowish carbs but can't go too low because I get so tired without my dose of carbs.

suchsweetsorrow82 · 01/08/2019 21:20

Evening all! Sorry I am reading all the posts but hard to keep up while I’m away. I promise I will do better on my return!

@BustedDreams ha! How funny! Hard when you’re short as every pound shows!

Fairly good day today. Around 20,000 steps which includes a 30 minute run. Stayed on plan for breakfast and lunch then treated myself to a large glass of wine with dinner which was calamari and salad. Followed by a small ice cream and gin! Not finding it as difficult as I thought being on holiday. I really don’t want to ruin the progress I have made so far.

FiveShelties · 01/08/2019 23:30

This is really moving quickly.

I lost 7.2 pounds in July and am absolutely delighted and checking in for August. I was 10st 2.2lbs yesterday and would just like to be under 10 stone, although half a stone would be amazing. My target for August is to lose 3.2lbs to be 9stone 13lbs - it is a long time since I was under 10 stone.

Ihatesundays · 01/08/2019 23:41

I’d love to be 10 stone.

I can remember being 9 stone and thinking I was massive! I wanted to be 7.5 stone!!

AngelaScandal · 02/08/2019 00:03

busted well done for staying on track

Hi everyone,
Hope I'm not too late to join in. I'm 148lbs and really need to lose 8lbs. Partly because my clothes fit better and I look better but mainly because for the last month I've been eating trash and it's really affecting my mental health. Our family is under a fair amount of stress at the moment and my way of dealing with it is to eat eat and eat some more in the evenings. I'm hoping this can be somewhere I come to chat in the evening to dissuade me!

So. Fresh start today. Plan is 1200 plus exercise cals on mfp. Today's menu:
B - avo on toast
L - salad, strawbs & an apple
T - BBQ at friends house. Plan to have one burger and salad and avoid the wine.

Foreverlexicon · 02/08/2019 06:12

I thought yesterday was a wash out as I had a huge flapjack which I’ve been craving for days but just totted my calories up and hit 2000. Which I’m fine with as I’m tall and active enough to maintain or actually slowly lose on that.

Today is
Weetabix
Egg sandwich, crisps and fruit
Fruit snack
Chicken noodle dish
Some chocolate for pud

Adds to 1600 as it is but might need an extra snack as I’m very busy today and won’t be home for dinner much before 9 I think.

chutneypig · 02/08/2019 06:24

Welcome to the group @flowerycurtain. I found it an great help last month keeping me on track. Sounds like a solid plan for today, enjoy your BBQ.

Sometimes you need to have what you crave @Foreverlexicon and you are very active indeed!

Tricky day for me today, I don’t know what I’ve got for dinner tonight. I work away in the week so it’s my long drive back tonight. It can take over three hours because of the holiday traffic so I’m often starving when I get back too. Must not stuff my face the second I walk in the door.

Oysterbabe · 02/08/2019 07:36

0.8lbs off for me this week, taking my total loss to 42.2lbs, so just over 3st. I need to lose another 0.8lbs to have a healthy BMI. Hopefully next week!

RiddleyW · 02/08/2019 07:46

That’s amazing oyster!

parkagain · 02/08/2019 07:50

First August weigh-in today. 9st 6.8 lbs. Would like to get 4 or 5 pounds off this month ideally.

suchsweetsorrow82 · 02/08/2019 07:55

Well done @Oysterbabe that’s amazing.

Started the day well with a 30 minute run
Will have an egg white omelette for breakfast and salad for lunch. Leaving some room for a nice dinner/ few drinks out tonight.

I’m not aiming to lose on holiday but trying to stick to plan as much as possible including the exercise (which is actually easier as you have more time, when I left the kids were still asleep) to remain around the same.

Good luck everyone for today

Cary2012 · 02/08/2019 07:58

Morning all Smile You have done so well @Oysterbabe. I know what you mean @Ihatesundays - my current goal is 10.7. Many moons ago, that was the amount I was horrified at, and I considered a 14 huge, so would diet down to my ideal weight which then was 8.10! From where I am now, 10.7 seems positively waif-like. I do think we need to adjust our target as we age though (kidding myself) Wink

MarvelMum3 · 02/08/2019 08:04

@rushka - that’s awesome that you managed to not emotionally eat yesterday! And I’m being very gentle with myself, mainly trying to make sure I do eat something and ideally make it healthy or at the very least, not just cake and chocolate. It is nice to have a goal that’s more than ‘keep baby fed and happy’ and also to prioritise looking after myself because I am not going to get through these sleepless nights without fuelling my body better!

@dancingmom Is there something you could do to keep your hands busy and less bored? Maybe some knitting or something whilst watching TV?

@BustedDreams Well done for staying on track! Chocolate is hard to resist…

@suchsweersorrow82 Your step count is fantastic! I haven’t had step counts like that since I was working 14 hour days… Don’t miss the long shifts, miss the activity though!

@flowerycurtain Welcome! Sounds like a solid plan and I hope you enjoy the BBQ! And I hope things start looking up for you family and you feel like your mental health is improving!

I did manage to cook dinner last night - sausages, beans and chips so nothing exciting but baby steps! We had ice cream and some cake for dessert which is not something I normally do but it was nice and I kept to portion sizes and didn’t end up overeating. Did cave and have chocolate at 4am this morning though, was starving and only had one hand free so it was easy. Should probably get myself some cereal bars or something which is still not ideal but better than chocolate! And me and the OH went out for coffee this morning because we didn’t leave the house yesterday and I had a suger free vanilla latte (so yummy!). And bonus managed to get a 20 minute walk in this morning!

I have no idea what food is going to look like for me today. We do not have a lot of food in the house and I have a friend coming over at lunchtime so it’s anyone’s guess.

Laura221 · 02/08/2019 08:06

Morning everyone, you all seem like you've got good food plans for today. I'm home with the kids today with flimsy plans so I'm hoping I dont start picking at food through boredom. I am taking them to london tomorrow for a day out so I'm going to let myself have a treat then so I really need to stick with it today.

rushka · 02/08/2019 08:27

Morning everyone! Day 2!
I love reading all your posts. As someone said, it is hard to keep up as there is so much activity on here, but it creates a great sense of everyone giving this a good go, and so that is very motivating. I will try to spend some time this evening looking through more specifically, but I'm getting a lot out of everyone's comments, so thank you!

Today I've had yoghurt, all-bran and berries for breakfast.
Lunch will be pitta with hummus, yesterday's roasted veg and salad, and probably some pineapple.
Supper is a hog roast, so I'm planning to have a moderate portion - no crackling as I don't like it much anyway, and no alcohol.
I walked the dog this morning (not very actively as i was half-asleep, but better than nothing!)
All the best with your days :)

DoubleshotCoffeeplease · 02/08/2019 08:31

Hope this evening goes ok chutneypig, maybe have 2 large glasses of water when you get in before starting dinner so you fill up a bit. Thankyou BustedDreams, yesterday after dinner (salad) I picked up a biscuit pack but read this thread again and didn't have one (or 10 and the rest!). It's lovely to read such positive, encouraging posts on this thread. Good luck everyone for today.

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/08/2019 08:42

Hello all, have just skimmed the posts, will have time to read properly later.

@MarvelMum3 yes to handy snacks, I kept cereal bars on the bed side table in the early weeks. If you like bananas, that might be a better option or even grapes.

Well, the scales are out so I hopped on and apparently I'm a kilo down from yesterday. Will take it with a pinch of salt but as motivation to keep going. Out tonight to Nandos so will eat carefully to not upset the apple cart too much.

Have a good day all!

Crayolaaa · 02/08/2019 08:46

I've been sticking to 1200 cals for four whole days (tues was a write off due to a set work lunch with clients) but have lost nothing! I know, I need to reset my expectations Grin. Got AF today so surely that will lead to a lb or too off! Will weigh in again on Monday.
