Lose 7lbs in July

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 07:41

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Yikes! @DrDiva I bet that costs a bomb. Shock yay for your loss. That's amazing. I'm a few pounds short of where I was when I got married which I'm super chuffed about. My overall goal weight is very ambitious (especially post kids) but really determined to give it a really good try. Just got to keep the motivation up and get exercising.

cakesandphotos · 03/07/2019 13:00

I just did my BMI and apparently I'm overweight which has bummed me out slightly. I knew I was heavier than I used to be but I assumed I was still within the healthy range. I guess more motivation for me!

WhatALearningCurve · 03/07/2019 14:39

Been shopping with my mum and the only option was fries from Five Guys. Fuming at myself because I've already gone over my calories for the day. However I am now determined to go to the gym tonight and my mum said she'd look after the baby so I could go so hopefully I can put myself back into a deficit

Therealjudgejudy · 03/07/2019 19:02

Hi everyone ..checking in. Yesterday i ended just under 1400 calories. I also did a fitness class at the gym before work.

Today i did an early gym session, mainly cardio. Foot not so good.

B- Strawberry granola
L- 4 Ryvita with l/f laughing cow cheesespread, green salad and a nectarine.
D- Cauliflower cheese burgers and baked beans 😕.
Thats it now, just a cup of tea before bed.

Tomorrow ill up my game

Therealjudgejudy · 03/07/2019 19:03
  • that should be Food!
cheesenpickles · 03/07/2019 19:34

I made the silly mistake of buying a tub of smoked salmon pate at Costco as it was low car/high fat/protein. It's dated tomorrow and have half a kilo of the stuff. Envy managed to create a meal around it (just) but I'm a touch off salmon for now.

Currently walking round the block in circles to hit my 10k steps so I can get a free Starbucks Grin

Also ordered an Apple watch series 4 today after my super anti husband rocked up with one for himself this afternoon. This was after spending a week telling me our fitbits were sufficient. He's a total technophobe as well which makes it funnier. Anybody know of any good online shops for straps?

Gonegardening · 03/07/2019 20:56

Just checking back in before my daily fix (which is now Love Island rather than chocolate and wine/gin). Really inspiring to see the early losses.

@Jollyholibobs, that quote about exhaling fat is now my new mantra. It helped today when tackling a 5km run in my work lunch break.

@Chickenitalia, I can totally relate to the no booze boredom. I’m presently on day three AF but as we head towards Friday night I’m sure my resolve may weaken. Hoping to be able to moderate rather than to have to abstain completely.

@cakesandphotos, I feel your pain. I’ve recently purchased one of the fancy scales that links to an App which tells you all kinds of interesting stuff in addition to weight, such as muscle mass, visceral fat, BMI and metabolic age. Needless to say my metabolic age was not as I’d hoped but I’m up for the challenge of getting back to my thirties.

@WhatALearningCurve, hope you enjoyed the fries, even on a diet the body needs some fat. I know how easy it is to abandon the day once you stray so you’ve done fab to balance it out by going to the gym.

Onwards and upwards everyone towards another winning day tomorrow. I’ve managed to stay with the healthy eating plan today despite a giant bar of Galaxy shouting at me every time I open the fridge. I hope my children scoff the lot when I’m not within touching distance.

LosingLola · 03/07/2019 21:31

Today I needed a nap when I got home from work, and then I found it hard to get motivated and go for a walk. But I didn't want come and tell you all I'd failed, so I managed it!

So I am pleased to report that today I kept within my calories and also met my steps goal.

@cakesandphotos BMI points do come off. Just keep plugging away at the pounds and you'll get there. When I started my bmi was closer to 50 than I'd like to admit but now I'm so close to getting under 30.

@WhatALearningCurve it's done now. You've eaten the fries. You just need to make sure it doesn't derail you and that tomorrow is back on track. Can you learn from this and plan better next time? I always keep a cereal bar and an apple in my handbag. It's not really a meal but then neither is fries.

@cheesenpickles a mantra at my SW group is "if it swims, it slims" so your pate sounds great!

BustedDreams · 03/07/2019 21:32

What a lovely day/evening it’s been weather wise. Hope it’s been nice were you are.

Stayed on plan. Soup for lunch (out). Ended up making a smoked salmon mouse and having it with vegetable crudités and lettuce wraps. It was lovely and refreshing. Sat in the garden, under parasol, sparkling kabucha tea. Delicious.

Hoping you’ve all had positive days both food wise and other ways.

@Chickenitalia that’s great you’re keeping away from the drinks. It makes such a difference to weight loss as well as how you feel the following day.

@cheesenpickles I cancelled my Ocado this week as we had planned to go away tomorrow night ... now we are not gong until Sunday night. Will need to supermarket shop tomorrow after hairdressers.

@cakesandphotos welcome lovie, great bunch here. My BMI is still in the over weight category, down from obese Shock yours will come down, you’ll see.

@Lucked I’m the same re exercise, I really struggle to do anything other than walking and occasionally swimming. But I NEED to up my game if I want to lose.

@DrDiva wow 😮 get you. That’s fabulous! Keep going you can achieve it!

@WhatALearningCurve could you ‘pinch’ some allowance from the rest of the week. A bit of exercise and some healthy choices will see you back on track.

@Therealjudgejudy hope your foot gets better!

@cheesenpickles what a bummer. Can you freeze it in potions?

I’ve had a sneaky weigh in and I’m down from 145.5 to 144.5, so a 1lb. Fingers crossed I lose another .75lb by Monday weigh in. I worked out that weekly loss needs to be about 1.75lbs a week to reach July’s 7lb goal. Fingers crossed ... for all of us Grin

@LosingLola crossed posted. You trooper you! Yes the thread is helping me stay focused too. My dh earlier said, ‘would you like a glass of wine’, being a part of this collective helped me to say a firm no. I don’t want to let myself down and I don’t want to let the collective down either.

Sounds like everyone is doing very well!

My plans changed a bit today, I really really didn’t feel like riding which is unusual for me so I didn’t. I was going to give the horse tomorrow off anyway so I’ll ride then instead.

Meant I had more time to cook and less time tomorrow so I had chicken nuggets (Hmm) and baked some courgette and aubergine with breadcrumbs and Parmesan.

Been a tad lax with my calorie counting over the last couple of days which isn’t ideal for week 2 so I’m planning to tighten up the belt a bit tomorrow!

DrDiva · 03/07/2019 22:13

cheesenpickles I’m afraid I smiled a bit at the image of you swimming in salmon there! Hope you enjoy it nevertheless!

And gonegardening I am lost in admiration at the 5k run. I just can’t motivate myself in running enough to get anywhere near that. I’ve started C25K twice and bombed out both times Hmm tonight however I did the second level of the Shred. Hopefully that’s a start exercise wise.

WhatALearningCurve · 03/07/2019 22:26

Done for the day. Just did laps of my house to get my steps up to 10,000 because they were at 9,700 and I was too close to not finish it. Involved creeping around my babies crib but thankfully didn't wake him! Put myself back into a deficit so I'm less annoyed at myself.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 03/07/2019 22:43

Hi all

I’ve had a day totally off plan - loads of pizza and wine and fab company. You’ve got to live haven’t you?!

I haven’t even bothered to count calories but I’ll be back on it with a vengeance (and a 5k run) tomorrow

Foreverlexicon · 04/07/2019 05:38

Right back on it and ready to be stricter. I haven’t been ‘off’ plan, but just a bit ‘oh I suppose that’s about x calories’ and letting myself go slightly over. I’ve got too far to go to start playing that game!

B - overnight oats with berries and walnuts
L - pesto pasta with roast veg and chorizo
S - peach and a cheese string
D - Asian glazed chicken, brown rice and Bok Choy.
S - chocolate mousse

pookypup · 04/07/2019 06:28

Morning all

@Foreverlexicon - go for it, new day new start

I’m using Lose It! As food logging is the only thing that stops me mindlessly picking at bits as Im in the kitchen cooking. I forked our for the upgrade so I can use it as a meal planner. ( @Chickenitalia I’m also and Ocado shopper - so did the order last night)

Those cutting alcohol - I drink low cal tonic water in the evenings. I think because it’s not sweet, I drink it slowly and it almost feels like a G&TGrin lime wedge and ice is even better.

I’m managing to stick to my daily 1280 cals but it’s the weekend that’s a challenge. We have house guest who we normally overindulge with staying for 2 nights. I’ve ordered Prosecco and planned a Joe Wicks steak salad for dinner one night to try and limit the damage. Think I’ll have to do pizzas on Saturday night though - will add a big side salad and try to fill up on that.

Have a good day everyone Star

chutneypig · 04/07/2019 06:42

I’ve been there with the laps at night loads of times @WhatALearningCurve. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do!

Sounds like a great day @MikeHannigansStripyShirt. I’ll be the same at the weekend, I’m at a wedding so I’m just going to enjoy the day.

A better day yesterday for me, back in routine. 1650 calories, 12400 steps. 0.3 kg down this morning, expect that’s mostly water.

Yesterday I had:

B - Huel shake
S - banana
L - porridge and pate on oatcakes
S - protein shake and kvarg yogurt
D - rye bread, beans, crisps and crumpet

I normally eat lots more veg but I’ve got none in my flat as only two night here this week. Will be the same again today.

I’m just about to try a Les Mill Grit session online now. Bit nervous!

Gonegardening · 04/07/2019 06:48

Morning all. Gearing up for another day on plan, thanks for the timely reminder about the weekly target @BustedDreams, that’s definitely going to spur me on today. Well done on the loss.

Meal plan today is roast chicken salad wrap for lunch and Thai chicken a la hairy bikers style with rice for tea. Not sure about snacks but nectarines, apples and carrots will hopefully fill the void. Got emergency ryvita in the cupboard too. Also no wine or gin allowed Sad

@DrDiva the 5km was a struggle especially in the heat. I’m trying hard to get back into running regularly following an injury so not fast paced. When I started running a few years back I got totally frustrated with the C25k programme. Found just going out and seeing what I could do and trying to build from there worked better for me. I’m in awe of you dong the shred. I bought the dvd a few years back but must have only done it 3 times, may have to dust it off again.

Hope everyone has a positive and energised day. I’m finding less sugar seems to be making me have more energy rather than less weirdly Hmm.

WhatALearningCurve · 04/07/2019 06:58

Morning weigh in - 12st 13lb and 3/4. Which means I am apparently 5lb lighter than I was on Monday. Only going to record my weight every Monday but the daily weigh ins really spur me on Grin

Jollyholibobs · 04/07/2019 07:12

Good morning all
@WhatALearningCurve you made me laugh with your laps of the house to get your steps up. I’ve done that.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt sometimes it’s worth a lapse. Sounds like a fun day.

Finished yesterday under 1200
B porridge
L John West Light Lunch Mexican Tuna Salad
D left over courgette and spinach curry and tiny portion of rice followed by an apricot and 0% Greek yogurt
S small chocolate covered biscuit. Apple, nectarine yogurt

Gym/PT session last night.

Had a tussle with myself over an ice cream. But if a habit I have after a meeting on a sunny day on the way back to the office. Compromised with a m&s vanilla 0% yogurt.

I love those John West Light Lunch Salads. They keep for weeks, they are packed on a foil tray and come with a fork. Really useful for travelling and I keep one at work for if I don’t manage to bring lunch or have time to go out and get something. 252 calories for the one I had.

Weigh in this morning another 1lb down.

Have a great day everyone

cheesenpickles · 04/07/2019 07:21

Wow! Some great losses everybody. I'm 1lb down this morning too. Woohoo. Also wearing the same outfit I was wearing on the first day I started my "diet" just under four weeks ago and I'm shocked. Huge change already. Smile

I'm using MyFitnessPal to log my food. Where I'm only doing one meal a day/keto it's taken a lot of faff out for me. I literally just have to log one meal so I take my time deciding what goes into it. Yesterday was a bit of a weird mash up with the dreaded smoked salmon pate but had scrambled eggs with butter and asparagus with it. Chucked some tomatoes on the side as well and had two squares of 75% dark chocolate as a night time treat.

Food shop doesn't arrive til post-dinner today so going to have to cobble something together but have all day to think about it.

BustedDreams · 04/07/2019 07:26

Good morning All! Just a quick post!

Food wise today I’m having the smoked salmon mouse I’ve got left over with vegetable crudités.

I need to use the beef chilli I planned for yesterday but didn’t have. So will have it today with cauli rice. I’m really going to try harder and fit more steps in. Yesterday I only managed 4200. Not enough!

Have a good day all of you.

LosingLola · 04/07/2019 09:49

@BustedDreams thanks! You did really well resisting the wine too.

@Jollyholibobs I think the John West meals are great too keep in the cupboard, too. I also like Prep And Co rice pots but you do need hot water for those. They're similar to a pot noodle but rice based and more filling.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 04/07/2019 09:59

Does everyone weigh every day? I do but I never know whether it’s a good idea or not!

Strangest thing ever: this morning’s weight was lower than yesterday. Lowest in months in fact, despite the fact I ate my body weight in All The Tasty Thing yesterday.

Run was hard this morning though. Again, you’d think it’d be easy with all the ready fuel! Bodies are weird.

Chickenitalia · 04/07/2019 12:04

I try not to weigh daily as I can get a bit hung up on the numbers, weekly is ok for me.

Yesterday ended at 1191, again no alcohol, not too bad with working around all the activities for the kids. I did sit down after Brownies and hanker for a cold Sauv Blanc but reminded myself we were now done until September and focused on the paperwork instead!

Today is a bit crazy. Ds is on a school trip and had to be at school early, pick up is late. Dd has a piano exam so I have to collect her early from school, drive to Oxford (oh god no) and then back in time for her dance show rehearsal, then collect ds and get him to Beavers, back for dd, back to collect ds. It was all going to work perfectly. Except ds is now stuck behind a big accident on the motorway, the teachers are probably hanging, they’ve already said they will stay later so the kids don’t miss out on so much, and it’s thrown all my timings! Good job I don’t want to eat much really today!

The sun is at least out! Happy Thursday everyone!
