Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

@BustedDreams the joy of maternity leave during good weather. Trust me - pre mat leave I had a mostly sedentary desk job and was lucky to get 3k steps in a day

Gonegardening · 02/07/2019 21:01

Evening everyone. Just checking back in quickly before I watch my guilty pleasure (Love Island). Not stopped all day. Did the walk workout on you tube, quite enjoyed it and definitely worked up a sweat combining in some of the weights. Felt inspired so also did a brief arm thing to try and banish the bingo wings and a 10 minute core video too. Had to do some shopping this afternoon and made the quiche for tea as planned. Just been on 6km walk with the kids so definitely hit my active minute goal today, back to work tomorrow however so may struggle to do anything.

Wine and gin are both my vices. The trouble I have is that I have a faulty off switch however, so one is rarely enough. I do quite like the elderflower flavoured tonic on it’s own over ice but trying to go cold turkey at least until Friday and then hoping if I do have one I can be mindful of my Saturday weigh in.

I used to have a Fitbit before my Apple Watch and think the Apple is more accurate. Hoping I can stick with this. Not been too bad so far and you lot and definitely keeping me in the focused zone Grin

GandalfTheGoat · 02/07/2019 21:17

Evening check in during the ad breaks - I'm also watching LI!

Today didn't go so well - had a lunch meeting at work and my sandwich was mixed up from granary to white bread. Also had an ice cream Blush

Breakfast and dinner as planned though and no other snacks.

I need to try and get some exercise in though, you guys seem to be beating me there!

VeThings · 02/07/2019 21:34

I’ve accidentally found a way to portion control. Bought new dinner plates, same size as previous plates. What I didn’t click is that the rim is much larger. I served dinner and realised I’d put less food on the plates as there is less eating surface.

Diet day tomorrow. Going to skip breakfast, soup for lunch and a low cal ready meal for dinner. Will try to resist crisps and snacks.

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 02/07/2019 22:17

A pretty good day but went overboard with 2 custard creams and a glass of milk at the end. However, if I carry in like this I'll be 12st 10 in 5 weeks.

Wenchelda · 02/07/2019 22:26

Evening all, just realised I haven't checked in all day. Have skimmed through to catch up and must say I am in awe of all those who are managing on 1200 cals or less. Seriously how?? I'm doing 1600 limit and finding that just about manageable. Clearly I am not disciplined enough to cut out treats completely - however from past experiences o know that I need to allow for a couple of treats a day otherwise I get to the evening feeling completely deprived and then think f**k it I'll have some biscuits or whatever Blush So I am currently including a costa coffee or similar and a bedtime hot chocolate in my allowance to keep me going Grin

Today I've kept in my limit and also straight after school took the kids out to a local parkland / play area ... we were there until 8pm and managed to walk a good couple of miles too so that's definitely better than my usual lazy evenings at home! Tummy is rumbling a little bit now so might have some fruit - which will take me over my cals, but it's fruit, right?! Better than reaching for the cheese & crackers which I sometimes used to do for an evening snack!

Thismummyruns · 02/07/2019 22:56

Checking in for the night. Hit 13,000 steps today- the most I have done in a LONG time, probably pregnancy, in terms of walking. Purposely left to do the school run 40 mins early to fit in walk number 1 with the pram and then after dinner took my eldest out for a stroll in the sun for walk number 2.

I've also boiled all my eggs for the remainder of the week. 1 a day for when I'm peckish for something a bit more filling around mid morning/lunchtime. Stops me raiding the biscuit tin Grin

ShintyFartMuscle · 03/07/2019 02:15

Just checking in, I always have a tendency to be a lurker but am determined to participate more to increase my accountability.

I try not to weigh in every day. If it’s going well I have a wobble and self sabotage. If it’s bad I’ll have a different sort of wobble and self sabotage!

I weighed in 🤦‍♀️ Lost 1.2kg. And I’m going out for lunch, I’m so worried I’ll fuck myself up. If you haven’t heard from me by the time you all wake up send in the paramedics I’m in a chip coma.

What I should be focusing on is the fact that that weight went while I have a busted ankle, so I haven’t been walking let alone exercising.

Just getting off the bus to go out to lunch now focus shinty focus

Jollyholibobs · 03/07/2019 06:23

Morning everyone
Good day yesterday finished on 1133
Went for 5k run after work. Did not feel fit.

Made a mixed veg curry + a v small portion of basmati rice for dinner. Garden is now producing loads of courgettes and I chucked in tomatoes and some spinach. Made loads so will do another night. DH had it too and DD is eyeing up leftovers to take to work for lunch.

I’m a daily weigher. It works for me but it’s not for everyone I know. Have had s big drop of 5.8lbs in a week. It’s not sustainable-all water and bloat from a preceding bad patch but helps to motivate and I only have 2.5 weeks until my holiday so it’s always meant to be a quick fix. 7lbs looks doable.

Trying to celebrate this moments when I feel a bit peckish by telling myself i’m Exhaling fat!!

Have a great day everyone.

cheesenpickles · 03/07/2019 07:02

@Jollyholibobs I'm a daily weight as well. It just keeps me on the straight and narrow and I know to take into account the fluctuations after years of dieting now. I'm actually up 0.5lb this morning but I know that'll shift in a couple of days. I had a grenade killa protein bar last night as well because I was struggling to get all my calories in and whenever I have anything with malitol in I have a day or two with no movement. I would have had olives but the kids ate them all. Envy

@Wenchelda I'm actually struggling to hit over 1,000 calories at the moment and having to force myself to eat extra stuff. I've pretty much removed most carbs (apart from leafy greens, traces in eggs etc) and it's shocking how many calories you get from them. Removing them as really affected my appetite as well. I don't really get hungry at the moment. I don't think i could be keto forever but I definitely think I'm going to try and stick to low carb when I hit my goal weight.

Panicking a bit about next week as I have an event for work which has a lunch included and they've not sent a menu. Tempted to email then organisers and say I'm low carb but feel like I'm being a massive pita with it.

cheesenpickles · 03/07/2019 07:03

*weigher

ShintyFartMuscle · 03/07/2019 07:07

I has a poke bowl, meat, veggies, brown rice and seaweed

Goes back on bus happy

chutneypig · 03/07/2019 07:08

I’m a daily weigher too, although I look at the averages a lot. I skipped yesterday as I was travelling but pretty much the same as Monday.

I did notice one thing on the trip is that I can make good choices travelling if I’m choosing the food but will eat everything put in front of me. Something to watch for.

I feel pretty sluggish between eating a little too much and not enough exercise, even steps. Back to focus today.

Hope lunch went ok @ShintyFartMuscle and well done on that loss.

Foreverlexicon · 03/07/2019 07:10

I had to force myself to just go to bed last night as all I wanted was food. Didn’t sleep well and woke up thinking it was time to get up. Got downstairs and flicked the kettle on only to realise it was 1am Grin I was STARVING so I had a handful of tortilla chips then went back to bed. Oh well.

Got up and went for a 4km run this morning and will ride the horse tonight.

Today’s menu will be;
Breakfast - Berries, yoghurt and a cereal bar
Lunch - couscous, halloumi and veg
Snack - peach and a cheese string
Dinner - Asian glazed chicken, brown rice and Bok Choy
chocolate mousse for pud.

Comes to 1500. I’m already getting excited for Saturday weigh day

cheesenpickles · 03/07/2019 07:12

@Foreverlexicon oooh I am fond of a cheese string. Grin

WhatALearningCurve · 03/07/2019 07:54

I'm a daily weigher - I feel like it makes me more familiar with my body as I know that some days I retain water and things. Another 2lb down this morning so I've apparently lost 4lb in 48 hours. Water weight is a beautiful thing ha

BustedDreams · 03/07/2019 08:10

Good Morning Campers

@GandalfTheGoat I’m the same in that I need to up my exercise! It’s a twin edged sword for me, as it makes me more hungry. Although I know exercise also has the toning benefits.

@VeThings have we bought the same dinner plates? I recently bought some in the JL sale (£10 for 6) and they have larger borders than usual. But you’re right, they hold less food! WinWin!

@FiveMoreMinutesPlease don’t beat yourself up! Sometimes needs must.

@Wenchelda it sounds like you had an active day which all helps with keeping your metabolism ticking over and burning your calories off.

@Thismummyruns get you. 13,000 steps [wow] Doffs my cap at ya!

@ShintyFartMuscle that’s great progress! Plus i didn’t have to poke you awake from your food coma Grin

@Jollyholibobs fantastic progress, well done! You’ll easily make goal at this rate! (Copies Jolly by breathing in and out fast in trying to get svelte) Grin

@cheesenpickles no you would not be a pita emailing dietary requirements. I’m sure others day would also prefer healthier options too. Do it, you’re worth it!

@Foreverlexicon I do that thing too about going to bed early to get away from food. I also woke in the early hours but I didn’t think it was time to get up, I was just very hot. I think you’ve done great to still have had the energy for a run after a disturbed nights sleep and planning a ride too! You’re menu looks very appetising as well! Super woman you are!

I’ll check in laters. I’m off out unexpectedly today and lunch will be a soup or salad with sparkling water. I’d planned beef for dinner but just not fancying it. Think I’ll pick some fish up on my way back.

Have a great day y’all!

Well done all, I finished yesterday on 1142 so that was fab, and no alcohol again! Dh has finally noticed I’m not drinking, and deemed it a Good Thing. Went to bed earlier too as I was bored 😩

The exante bar for yesterday was cookies and cream, and it was really really good. That’s on the list to buy again!

Today is a bit weird because I’m out from 5.30 to 8pm. Still thinking how I’m going to work food around that, might have 3 small meals of 300 cals, plus 100 breakfast and 100 snack. But it’s the last one for this term (Brownies - small girls, not cake 😁) and the treats I have for them are sweets that I don’t like! Win win.

cheesenpickles · 03/07/2019 08:25

Just did an Ocado order for tomorrow and it was a very beautiful thing. Even snuck in a bar of high cocoa chocolate bar as a treat. Now to eat all the veg before it goes bad Grin

I think I will email the organisers. It wouldn't be unusual given my job role for me to request something like that (cryptic much?!) so I'm sure they'll be accommodating. Smile

cakesandphotos · 03/07/2019 09:40

Can I join? I'm trying to lose my baby tummy (baby is 17 months old Grin) I reckon I've got a couple of stone to get me to where I was pre baby but even half a stone would be good!

Chickenitalia · 03/07/2019 11:31

@cheesenpickles I’ve just had an email from Ocado offering a free 3 month anytime pass, thinking that will be perfect over the summer as shopping with the kids is a headache and always ends in the wine section 🤣🤣🤣 plus I can sit and plan meals properly. I’ve used them before when the kids were smaller and found the veg lasted well.

@cakesandphotos welcome! My babies are 6 and 9 so I’m not sure what my excuse is for the baby belly but it is most certainly a thing! The more the merrier (people, not belly. Obvs.)

I went to the shop as I’d run out of ham for school lunches. Normally I would also pick up something for me that I didn’t need at all. Not today! Walked past the crisps, choc, wine... feeling very proud right now! I also went to the library and got some cookbooks I’d seen on here, a hairy bikers one and joe wicks also. Planning on taking photos of nice recipes and making an album for reference.

Keep going lovely ladies, we’ve got this! Xxx

cakesandphotos · 03/07/2019 11:35

The hairy dieters cookbook is fantastic!

cheesenpickles · 03/07/2019 11:43

@Chickenitalia everybody I know was always super dismissive about online food shopping but it's such a game changer. The fact you can sit down with a recipe book and work out exactly what you'll be cooking etc and if you do add treats etc you can be more calculated/have a bigger range to pick from. Our food shopping bill is a lot more manageable now because of it.

Lucked · 03/07/2019 12:07

I weighed myself yesterday and I was 12st 6 (BMI 25.1) so 7lbs should take me below 12 which is exciting.

Managing okay. Today is another fast day and have soup lined up for dinner.

Struggling to motivate myself to do any exercise, I need to stop procrastinating and JFDI.

DrDiva · 03/07/2019 12:42

Hello everyone! Already some losses, and some delicious and inspiring cooking going on. Hooray us! Grin
I’ve also lost 2lbs so happy there. Now at my lowest weight for about 30 years, I think!
I am the opposite about online shopping. I LOVE it and thus our food bill has increased exponentially Blush Though to be honest, I have a rubbish bin of a DS who is also allergic to dairy, and he eats prob half the food bill. At least four meals a day with dairy alternatives really mounts up. He def didn’t inherit his mum’s metabolism!!
