Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Yesterday wasn’t a bad day.
I was about 100 calories over which was kind of an accident - when I weighed out rice for dinner I realised the amount I’d allowed myself caloriewise was ridiculously small so gave myself a little more. By then I’d bought myself a chocolate bar as I had the calories spare and obviously I couldn’t NOT have it by then. So 1600 calories yesterday.

Breakfast - 2 weetabix with dried fruit and nuts
Lunch - pesto pasta with a little chorizo and roast veg
Snack - mango and peach slices
Dinner - marinated chicken, brown rice and Bok Choy.
Dessert - Cadbury caramel chocolate bar.

Today’s menu;
Breakfast - 2 weetabix with dried fruit and nut
Lunch - halloumi with veg and couscous
Snack - 2 donut peaches
Dinner - gammon campfire stew with 2 smal bits of garlic bread
Dessert - chocolate mousse.
Comes to 1415 so makes up for yesterday 😁

Will ride the horse and do a fair bit of walking at work today.

pistachiomousse · 02/07/2019 06:07

@BustedDreams wow the tagging people thing by starting with the
@ is a revelation - I used to spend ages typing names out on here.

Feeling very motivated today and hoping I can avoid those pesky carbs again as that's what does me in every time. I have nuts in my desk drawer at work and glove compartment of my car to prevent me from caving in to all the crisps and crackers that I usually cave in to.

BustedDreams · 02/07/2019 07:15

Good morning Collective 😊

@Sharpkat I had to read that twice #60000 steps. 🌟. I don’t do that in a week Blush

@Thismummyruns fab achievement on 10,000 steps. I feel great if I hit 5k, I need to up my game.

@Foreverlexicon your menus look delish 😋. I’ve never had camp fire stew. It’s a great idea to allow for treats in allowances too. It stops feeling deprived. Enjoy your ride!

@pistachiomousse it’s great isn’t it. Although I just had to type your name as it wouldn’t tag. Too many of the wrong carbs/sugars are the work of the devil. They can lead to fluctuating sugar levels which leads to cravings/binge eating. I try and be really selective with carbs. Occasionally a few spoons of brown rice (digestion loves it), rarely anything white. Nuts are little power houses. I’m currently faving pecans, totally yummy.

Good morning everyone. Ready for day two!

Menu plan:
B: Lots of coffee. Egg and mushroom omelette with tomato.
L: Coronation chicken salad wrap
D: Leftover quiche and new pots

@Gonegardening Thanks got the hairy dieters recommendation. I have one of the books which recipes in particular do you recommend?

@damnitdamnit Well done on a fantastic loss!

BustedDreams · 02/07/2019 07:25

@damnitdamnit that’s a good loss 👍

I saw this quote and thought it apt for us all. Simple but true.

Morning everyone. Finished yesterday on 1169 cals. Thinking my 1000 daily target is a bit low. Gym session too.

You are all inspirational thanks for sharing your meals and ups and downs.

Today’s plan
Porridge for breakfast
Lunch box salad for lunch
Similar salad for dinner
Fruit and 0% yogurt for snacks

I will try and fit s run in after work

cheesenpickles · 02/07/2019 07:47

Morning! Had a good day yesterday. Pounded out 10k steps even though it was a work day (working from home I barely move Blush) and had some M&S Meatzza for dinner. It was alright, wasn't really pizza but definitely took away any urges. Ended up eating some avocado and prosciutto as a snack later as my calories were below 1k. Woke up with a 0.8lb loss. Woohoo! Only 1lb till I'm no longer "obese" Grin

WhatALearningCurve · 02/07/2019 07:52

Woke up this more and apparently lost 2lb ha - aware this is water weight and bloating but definitely makes the 7lb seem more of a possibility!

BustedDreams · 02/07/2019 08:05

@cheesenpickles that’s great! Everything crossed for you that the 1lb will soon be gone too.

@WhatALearningCurve 2lbs 😮. That’s really motivating.

I’m a slow loser, very slow. With a little bit of slide back in there for good measure. I’m going all out to get rid of my 7lb this month. Feeling inspired by you lot I’m going to up my steps!

@cheesenpickles well done!!! That’s amazing Star Flowers Star

@WhatALearningCurve I am also down 2lbs this morning and while, yes, it’s just water weight, it’s still inspiring isn’t it?!

Gonegardening · 02/07/2019 09:46

Morning everyone. Good to see some early losses to celebrate. Well done Grin

Rare day off work here so going to try and stay as active as I can for maximum calorie burn. I’m going to try the Lesley Samsone 3 mile workout that someone upthread recommended this morning. I’ll do this whilst I’m in a fasted state rather than running (I generally skip breakfast as would rather save the calories for later and it seems easier to do after a few days). Also ordered some resistance bands and a yoga mat which arrived yesterday so will try them out - if I’m not too shattered following the walk.

Furbie I’ve tried lots of the recipes from the first two books, not so many from books 3 and 4 though. From Book 1 I would suggest sweet and sour chicken, easy Thai chicken and coconut curry, beachside paella, chilli, Bolognese and the asparagus and bacon flan (I’m making this last one today).

From book 2 the sausages in onion gravy, all in one spicy pork and rice (can swap for chicken and leave out the spice to make it family friendly), beef stroganoff and the chicken tikka masala (I usually make double the quantity of this last one as it freezes well and makes several portions. It’s also honestly much better than lots of the convenience ones you can buy).

Is anyone else using a fitness watch? I use my Apple Watch to track active calories and exercise calories during the day. Really is shocking how little I burn on a work day (desk job) so I’m really going to have to make much more effort on those days to do something - just not easy when knackered.

Will check back in later.

cheesenpickles · 02/07/2019 10:42

@Gonegardening I've got a Fitbit charge 2 and looking to upgrade to the Apple Watch Series 4. Husband is insisting that I wait till the 5's announcement as it'll come down in price but the battery on my charge is downnnnn. I used to be really good at setting and hitting targets but lost the drive.

Also, if people are doing low carb/high fat/protein then joe wicks books are fab. We only stopped using them because we started blw our youngest and the salt content wasn't really adaptable.

LosingLola · 02/07/2019 10:53

Had a great start to today! I had no clean trousers this morning so in desperation I grabbed a pair that didn't fit last month - and they fit perfectly!

FiveShelties · 02/07/2019 11:17

Day 2 finished. Kept to my points on WW, struggling with jetlag so definitely not doing my normal walks, but managed 8700 steps. No wine but had two measured glasses of whisky - 25ml is a very small amount of whiskyGrin

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Chickenitalia · 02/07/2019 11:52

Hello lovelies, some wonderful losses already! I’ve resisted the scales (it’s only day 2, lol) but I feel much less bloated around my waist and looking in the mirror at my waistband, it looks better to me at least.

Yesterday came in at 1069 cals. So I’m pleased.
Lime and cream soda tastes like... cream soda with a bit of lime in 🤣🤣🤣 but it was nice and a 250ml glass lasted me all evening, for about 10 calories. But day 2 with no alcohol! So I’m happy. I felt so awake this morning, sounds a bit nuts but getting the kids ready for school was much calmer, I can only presume I was sluggish and hungover even when I wasn’t really hungover?! Not making sense, but anyway I feel good for this.

Today: breakfast bar, exante cookie, then spinach and ricotta cannelloni for dinner, toast for supper. NO ALCOHOL. Might float a raspberry in my cream soda later.

Furble · 02/07/2019 13:18

@Chickenitalia Congrats on day two no booze. I’ve half a bottle of wine in the fridge that was screaming at me from the fridge last night. I had a Becks Blue! Think I need to stock up on interesting low cal drinks.

Chickenitalia · 02/07/2019 14:28

@Furble alcohol is absolutely my downfall, I can’t have any in the house or I will drink it. Never really to excess and I can live without, but it never seems enough to just have one drink, so it’s better I don’t go there at all. It’s too easy a habit to slip into, especially as dh also enjoys a drink. He like g&t which I hate so at the moment he’s fine!

I’ve got some peach & black tea chilling which was recommended, also I do like the cream soda I got yesterday. A number of fruit cordials would work in that. I used a fancy glass and rose gold straw to make it more fun, it was nice! Dh will sometimes just have tonic with fruit. There are a lot of flavoured cokes about at the moment too, most of those are ok!

Furble · 02/07/2019 17:06

@Chickenitalia I couldn’t have described my relationship with alcohol better myself. The wine in the fridge is literally talking to me. I’ve got a 5 week old baby so have had almost a year off drinking and then as soon as I’ve recovered from the birth and out of hospital I’m itching for a glass of wine (the shame). My DH doesn’t really drink which is both a blessing and a curse as I always worry I’m embarrassing him when he’s sober, even if I’ve just had a glass or two.

Have bought some diet lemonade and diet tonic for now as well as the Becks Blues to keep me on the straight and narrow. 💪💪

CheerfulChimp · 02/07/2019 17:58

Just checked-in! Smile

Hoping to lose 1 stone by Sept. Today has been a good start sticking to my eating plan whilst trying to avoid all the snacks at work. Been very active as well and will be going gym tomorrow for a cardio work-out session plus swimming.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 02/07/2019 18:19

Finishing today on 1164

Breakfast: coffee
Lunch: big omelette with half a plate of salad
Tea: home made burgers, with the tiniest portion of oven chips imaginable and lots of veg.

The half-plate of veg thing is working well for me

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 02/07/2019 18:21

I’m loving all the non alcoholic drinks ideas. I’m a sucker for wine in the evenings so I think I’ll experiment with some of the suggestions from you lovely lot, thank you! Flowers

Foreverlexicon · 02/07/2019 18:32

Good day here today. Stuck to my plan and about to go and have dinner.

Did have a moment this afternoon; got punched in the head at work (standard day, no pity needed) and had to spend 2 hours writing a report and the pull to the brownies was real but I got through with a coffee.

@Gonegardening I have a Fitbit inspire HR but I think it WAY overestimates my calories. I am pretty active but it seems to think I burn about 2500-3000 calories a day which seems a bit far fetched!

WhatALearningCurve · 02/07/2019 18:41

Finished for the day

10,425 steps
53 active minutes
1,146 calories eaten - 515 burned in exercise - deficit of 569

LosingLola · 02/07/2019 19:12

@Gonegardening I have a Garmin Vivofit 3 which is technically a fitness watch, but I have a clip for it so it goes on my bra. It doesn't do heart rate or a lot of the other things, but it seems fairly accurate and counting steps and it is discreet.

Depending on what you do a wrist based one might not be very accurate - they don't work whilst pushing things like shopping trolleys or pushchairs. And there was a recent thread here from someone who thought they did 2000 steps but it was just doing their hair in the morning.

BustedDreams · 02/07/2019 19:30

Another successful day today and ate as planned. Food Shute is shut now Grin Off for a bath then watching footy.

@Gonegardening How’s your day gone. Did you get done what you wanted? I wear a Fitbit or as my niece calls it a ‘snore-o-meter’. I’m pleased if I get 5k steps in but I am trying to increase this.

@LosingLola that’s ace that is. How satisfying!

@FiveShelties that’s great!

@Chickenitalia Fabulous! I love the taste of cream soda too. So, so soft and creamy. And weld one on having no booze!

@CheerfulChimp welcome! Sounds doable, a stone in 2 - 3 months. The ladies are great on this thread.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt you’re on it lady! I had a menu change today and ended up a plate of veg with a generous nob of butter for lunch. Delish. I been drinking sparkling water, straight up, no cordial. I might experiment a bit more and add a low sugar/carb flavour.

@Foreverlexicon Sorry to hear about your mishap today. Hope you’re ok.

@WhatALearningCurve your numbers are inspiring. I really must up my exercise, even if it’s just walking!

I’ve got beef out to make a chilli or bolognese (with cauli rice or carrot ribbons) for tomorrow, but don’t fancy it. I’m fancying fish. I think I’ll peruse my cook books.

The mutual support on this thread is awesome! 👏 Thank you ladies.
