Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Gah. Just been for my health check and everything was looking ok. However non-digital scales put me 3kg heavier than I was this morning and I've shrunk half an inch apparently. So while all my results were good I'm back in the obese category Envy though I know I'm heading the right direction it's still irritating. Grin

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 10/07/2019 15:52

Awww @cheesenpickles that’s rubbish! Can you ignore the Other Unkind Scales and just see what your own scales say? The trend is the important thing isn’t it?

cheesenpickles · 10/07/2019 15:55

Yeah, I trust my own a lot more. They're digital and this was an old school dial one. And it was 7lbs difference to this morning as well (though obviously in clothes and water weight from the day).

ifonly4 · 10/07/2019 20:34

I officially started my diet yesterday, accepting we'd still eat the veggie pasta dish I planned (and nothing else for me). Sat outside of tea and DH came out with an opened bottle of wineHmm. I'm just trying to be generally more careful, but wander if I could be calorie counting. We'll see.

Tomorrow yogurt & fruit breakfast, couple rich tea biscuits with coffee, egg salad and fruit for lunch. No idea about tea, something with veggies minus omit potatoes. I walk to work and am quite active there, but aim to fit in a bike ride and a bit of toning exercise tomorrow.

Thismummyruns · 11/07/2019 05:24

@cheesenpickles

You can always trust your clothes Smile

Foreverlexicon · 11/07/2019 06:04

I was up 3 pounds yesterday! Down a pound today so I’m really hoping by Sunday I’ll of at least maintained.

Calories have been nearer 1600 than 1500 this week and I haven’t been riding as horse has a bad leg but I’m tall and still getting in 10,000 steps a day so hoping that’s still enough to lose on. I have 2000 at weekends so works out to 1700 a day 🤔 guess we’ll find out!

chutneypig · 11/07/2019 06:23

I’m down 0.5 kg this morning, so very pleased with that. My plan for the day is a run soon. I’m out later with a set conference type meal. I am not going to clear my plate. I noticed last week that’s a point I fall down on if food is put in front of me,

Foreverlexicon (sorry it won’t let me tag you) i do lose slowly and steadily on 1600 calories and 10000 steps, with a similar creep at the weekends, it’s faster if I exercise. I’ve been hitting more creep in the week with travelling so I’m aiming for improvements and focus for the rest of the month after today. But it’s still heading down just very slowly. Hopefully you’ll be OK and hope your leg is better soon.

Jollyholibobs · 11/07/2019 06:59

Not losing this week just fluctuating 2lbs up or down then up again. I know I have been more generous with calories this week. Sat back on my laurels a bit with a few days where I’ve been up to 1500 or 1600. I’m not tall enough to lose on that and I need to crank back down. Might try a couple of 5:2 type fast/low cal days to compensate.
I have 1 week to go to my holiday. I am 8.6lbs heavier than this time last year. I tried on my wetsuit at the weekend and it’s wearable and it’s meant to be tight, but I really wish I wasn't carrying this extra weight.

Have a plan for 700 cals fast type day today.

Everyone seems to be doing well. I ‘d ignore the doctors scales @cheesenpickles. Yours must be more of constant basis for monitoring your progress. If you weigh consistently at the same time of day and undressed.
Hope your horses leg sorts out @Foreverlexicon
Have a good day everyone.

WhatALearningCurve · 11/07/2019 07:05

Forgot to log last night!

Very happy with how I ended. Didn't hold back at lunch really but offset it with walking.

Woke up this morning and I'm 12st 11 1/4 so a pound and a half down from Monday. (I think - my brain doesn't seem to be functioning this morning)

cheesenpickles · 11/07/2019 07:06

Thanks everybody.Smile Weighed this morning and I'm down another 0.3lbs. Work thing last night was good. There was a LOT of food but it was all really fresh and healthy stuff, major bonus. I've got a lunch event today but it's casual so I'll probably skip the food till I get home. Hope eve has a good day.

cheesenpickles · 11/07/2019 07:08

Oooh! And non-scale victory. My contact I normally deal with didn't recognise me last night as I've lost so much since I last saw her! Grin

DrDiva · 11/07/2019 08:11

@cheesenpickles hooray for you! That’s sounding brilliant.

I think I’ve hit that pesky stall that often seems to happen at the last half stone. And to be honest, my timetable this week isn’t helping - far too social (heaven knows how, I’m usually a hermit!). So I’m just going to make sure I get to the end of the week without putting anything on, then tighten up properly next week. I’m sure running around after an irrepressibly energetic 7yo all summer will help!

Wenchelda · 11/07/2019 10:11

Hi everyone . Thought I'd better check in as I seem to have lost a couple of days and not been on here. Not sure how that happened but anyway, I'm checking in now. Haven't logged my calories on MFP either so I'm not sure how I've done on that front but I've been good with no snacking so hopefully kept around my allowance with my meals.

I just did a sneaky weigh in and am down 1lb since Monday so that's 3lb total since 1st July. Another 2lb will take me under 11st which will be amazing as it feels like a very long time since I saw a number 10 at the start of my weight!

Well done to everyone - keep going!

ifonly4 · 11/07/2019 10:32

Well done on the losses. I'm trying to just weight once a week.

I started my morning off with a low fat yogurt an cherries, then a bike ride, are you impressed?! Pondering over an egg salad sandwich for lunch as I didn't sleep well last night and have a heavy afternoon at work, so need something to keep me going. Thinking veggies sausages, peas, green beans and carrots for tea. Not sure this is even 1000 calories, so I have leaway if I'm hungry/fancy a treat.

Chickenitalia · 11/07/2019 12:37

I’ve also had a good few days this week, still no alcohol, have been to the shops and avoided the snack food aisle, and I’m starting to find a new normal I think. So this is good. I’m very much one for ‘rules’ but they need to be manageable, so having the same breakfast bar daily, having an exante bar for one meal, crisps are ok as a snack but only 1 bag and must be less than 100 cals... I realise this sort of thing is not for everyone!

In other news dh has finally noticed and is on board too! Although he was stunned at the 1200 cals a day bit, he thought that was tiny, but then he’s very active all day, competes in triathlon and is a foot taller than me! He’s wanting to lose half a stone by the end of September for an event so is happy with the lower cal dinners and no wine in the house.

Cake day at school tomorrow, but luckily I don’t have a sweet tooth in general so I will feed the cakes to the kids and feel happy about it 😁

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 11/07/2019 13:25

@Jollyholibobs I’m on a fast day too! I’ve lost a few days to terrible PMS (and eating whole tubs of Pringles in the evening Blush) so far I’ve had a carrot and 2 diet cokes. Got a low carb meal planned for tonight and should finish around 500 cals. Hopefully that’ll get me back on track.

@ifonly4 that’s very impressive!!

@Wenchelda excellent progress Star

High fives all round for all of us Grin

LosingLola · 11/07/2019 14:06

I am now in onederland!

For those that don't know, this means that my weight when written in pounds starts with a one!

I now weigh 199lbs!

Thismummyruns · 11/07/2019 15:57

That's great @LosingLola!
What a fab feeling!!

I've just had a Lotus biscoff biscuit... now I've got the flavour for them. I've been up since 4.30am with the baby, my willpower is compromised Confused
Somebody send help!

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 11/07/2019 18:10

Oh god @Thismummyruns lotus biscuits are bloody gorgeous! Step away!! Hide them! You can resist!

Well done @LosingLola that’s a fantastic achievement Flowers

cheesenpickles · 11/07/2019 18:21

I've just had dinner. Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and avocado. I had a work thing today and had some nice food there but thankfully they were teeny afternoon tea style so found the closest thing I could find oh mfp and it doesn't seem to have trashed me for the day. Even declined the free fizz (vvv proud of this!)

Busy weekend ahead with festival, stay somewhere and a day out with the kids. Not sure how well I'll keep on track but I think if I keep it on a tight leash should be ok. Going to be weird not weighing on Sunday. Got really used to it now!

Jollyholibobs · 12/07/2019 06:04

Congratulations
To @cheesenpickles for being unrecognised!
To @LosingLola to reaching
And everyone else for keeping on!

@Thismummyruns tiredness makes this weight loss task loads more difficult. Hope you wake up refreshed today.

I just did my daily weigh and down 1.2lbs since yesterday. That’s because of an ultra low cal day yesterday. Finished on 714 cals. Can expect a rise by tomorrow but hopefully not the whole 1.2 if I am careful.
Planning to stick to 1100 today and I am looking forward to my porridge this morning.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt are you doing 5:2 or a variant like me? I’ve just chucked in a fast day to aid my focus. How many calories do you have on a fast day?

Jollyholibobs · 12/07/2019 06:04

*for reaching onederland

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 12/07/2019 07:42

Jolly I dart around from diet to diet and then to just eating whatever I want (cf Pringles incident) so yesterday was 5:2 and today in honour of the magnificent @WhatsGoingOnEh and her lose 10lbs in a week thread, I’m starting Scarsdale. We’ve booked a holiday so I need to be 8 1/2 stone in a fortnight. Game on.

WhatALearningCurve · 12/07/2019 07:45

Good morning! 12 st 10 1/4 this morning so 2 lb down from last Monday!

It my mums birthday this weekend so going out for a big family meal but going to try and account for everything and get a lot of walking in to make sure I don't gain anything back before Monday!

Sharpkat · 12/07/2019 07:48

Morning everyone!

Am 76.1kg this morning so 1.9kg down since the start of July.

More importantly am 14.3kg down since the beginning of April and finally under 12 stone.
