Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

I’ve lost another 0.4 today so 1.6 for the week. Pleased with that!

I’m out for a late lunch with my sister. Had a look at the menu and there isn’t anything even remotely diet friendly so reckon I’m just going to enjoy it. I’m in this for the long haul and I rarely eat out so 🤷🏻‍♀️ We aren’t eating until about 3 so I won’t need a proper dinner and it’s part of a 2 hour walk so hopefully that’ll offset it a bit!

Gonegardening · 07/07/2019 08:22

Morning all. Well my good intentions went straight out the window yesterday. Went to the coast so had a half portion of fish and chips with curry sauce. They were delicious but I daren't think how many calories Shock.

Also wine (again) plus a few bites of a crunchie and a handful of crisps (after the wine as brain not making great choices). I did do a lot of walking but definitely not enough to warrant the splurge. Got to ensure I get back to winning diet ways today through to Friday, otherwise I can see the pounds going back on. Not easy as after wine I’m definitely going to be craving carbs.

How did the fast day on Saturday go @Lucked ?

@Foreverlexicon, that was my situation on Friday, absolutely no healthy choice available on the menu so sharing a pizza was the best option. Hope you enjoy the meal and I’m sure 2 hours of walking will definitely limit any impact.

BustedDreams · 07/07/2019 08:41

Good morning you lovely lot

@Gonegardening sometimes needs must. Nothing like fish and chips at the seaside. We are going there ourselves this afternoon for a couple of weeks. Will need to try really really hard to not partake in that delicious delicacy myself. Thinking of which perhaps I might take my scales with me Grin

@pookypup I love Pimms. So quintessentially British and very refreshing.

Great to read about everyone’s losses. I’m up a bit today as I expected once I started eating again. As long as I don’t weigh more than this times last week it’s fine.

Keep the faith ladies and enjoy the day!

My shopping trip with dd yesterday ended in KFC 😩 but despite that, daily cals was 1361 overall. I didn’t have much for lunch and then nothing after the chicken, tbh I felt a bit sickly after it anyway. It’s amazing how quickly your body gets used to less greasy food! Also had a good wander round the shops and a natter with the girl.
Today will be back on track! Exante bar for lunch and then Mongolian beef fro dinner - lean beef fried off using fry light, with spring onions, tender stem broccoli, baby corn, bean sprouts and pepper, ready noodles (one bag between 2 people), sauce is a tablespoon of oyster sauce and a tablespoon of soy sauce mixed with ginger, cumin and coriander, it goes a long way! Fresh coriander and sesame seeds sprinkled over at the end. It’s amazing.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

runningtogetskinny · 07/07/2019 09:15

Just got back from holiday yesterday so hope I can jump in here? Been weighed, 148.4 pounds!! I've gained 7 pounds in my 2 week holiday and I was only 134 in March so that's a stone on in 4 months!!!

Plan today is to do a dummy run of the cycle route to work and try and cycle in a couple of times each week. I'm also going to mostly fast for the day - well done everyone for completing the first week Smile

cheesenpickles · 07/07/2019 10:09

Hi everybody. Weighed this morning and had 0.1lb off. Considering the champers Friday and a slice of birthday cake yesterday I'm very happy with that. Back on the straight and narrow today (though I have another work event on Wednesday with a fuck tonne of bloody pho noodles... why does everything have to be so carby?!) my weight loss seems to have slowed down now to around 2lbs a week which is a) to be expected and b) healthy average loss. The key thing now is to try and up my activity. Desperate to join the gym but the cost (even at just £28 a month) is slightly prohibitive at the moment. It's my birthday next month though so might use that as an excuse. I'm keen to get moving and with small people at home and floorboard that don't lend themselves to home workouts I'm getting a bit antsy. Need some new wireless headphones as well. I've got awkward piercings in one ear so in-ear ones don't fit.

Jollyholibobs · 07/07/2019 10:46

Morning everyone
Weekends need a different strategy to week days. At work I’m busy and there is no time or access to snacks.

Yesterday was ok finished on 1442 in the end which is too much for me and the scales are up again this morning. However overall it’s down 4lbs since joining this thread last weekend which is great. Yesterday I was on track until DH suggested going for a meal and the cinema. It was late afternoon and I only had a about 300 cal left for dinner so even with careful menu choices it tipped me over. Not a biggy though. And it was all a conscious decision.
I did ride a horse and do a gym session at least.

Have a great day everyone. If you decide to have a treat enjoy it.

Gothamgirl1970 · 07/07/2019 10:53

I’m -2 lbs. great losses to everyone

Wenchelda · 07/07/2019 18:52

Hello everyone, just quickly popping on to say today appears to have been a write off calorie-wise but I've been within my limit all week so am really hoping for something off when I weigh myself tomorrow morning!

Gonegardening · 07/07/2019 20:36

Hi everyone. Better day today. 5km run and lots of walking, 19,000 steps overall. Did stray and have three squares of dairy milk but only had scrambled eggs and toast for lunch and quiche and salad for tea.

Well done everyone on completing week one. Some impressive early losses noted.

Back to work tomorrow for me so need to make an extra effort to fit in some exercise after being in work for 12 hours.

Harnett11 · 07/07/2019 20:43

I haven’t been too bad over the weekend very good food wise & exercise but succumbed to wine yesterday and woke up craving a bacon & egg sandwich. I think I am going to try not to drink alcohol at all until my holidays. Everyone well done on your losses I am going to weigh myself tomorrow. Also will Try to do 10000 steps everyday going to dig my Fitbit out. Feeling motivated x

chutneypig · 07/07/2019 20:49

I definitely get what you’re saying about weekends @Jollyholibobs. I work away in the week and don’t want to be a killjoy while we’re out and about at the weekend. I’m trying to cut portions down rather than avoid the meals out.

Yesterday was a complete write off for me, I was at a wedding. I’ll see how the scales look in the morning but I just wanted to relax and enjoy the day yesterday. Which I definitely did.

Foreverlexicon · 07/07/2019 21:16

Today was spectacularly a disaster. I’ve been in a bad mood since Wednesday for no reason what so ever. Had a nice lunch out with no regard for calories. Didn’t fancy a real meal for dinner but wanted Something.

Something turned out to be a magnum, popcorn and maltesers. Ah well I’ve been on the wagon for a month now so it was bound to happen sooner or later!

Lunch and breakfast prepped for tomorrow- as long as I get straight back on it won’t do too much damage.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 07/07/2019 21:18

Oh god oh god oh god..... so I was 5lbs down, which I totally didn’t believe as my jeans were still tight. Well this morning I was back up 4lbs to 124.8. And my head went FUCK IT

I’ve eaten so much crap today. Currently sitting inhaling salty delicious M&S cheese things and drinking wine with the sullen resigned manner of an irritating teenager. Can someone give me a virtual slap?

I’ve been angelic all week. I need to get back on it.

pookypup · 07/07/2019 21:21

Evening all, checking in at 1253 cals, which is on target for me.

Absolutely @Jollyholibobs and @chutneypig - weekends always throw a spanner in the diet plan. It’s so hard with impromptu activities and being sociable, but still being able to make healthy choices.

Is anyone else weighing and reporting in their first week loss in the morning? Weirdly excited- though suspect I’ll be underwhelmed!

Sharpkat · 07/07/2019 22:25

@pookypup I will be posting my official week 1 weigh in tomorrow morning.

I honestly don't know how you all survive on so few calories. Maybe I need to have a rethink about my 1600.

runningtogetskinny · 07/07/2019 22:38

In an effort to make up for the gain on my holiday I had 753 calories today and cycled 21 miles! I'm planning on cycling to and from work tomorrow and I've made a big pan of soup ready for when I get home, trying to plan better for the week ahead. Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow

pookypup · 07/07/2019 22:48

@Sharpkat I am v surprised that I’m keeping so low - and it feels ok. I’m not really getting that hungry. Maybe it’s the heat? Typically having Greek yog with fruit for breakfast, big salad with a small amount of protein for lunch and then normal(ish) dinner. Measuring portions and eating whole grains - lots of water and herbal teas.

If it was winter I’d be mainlining shepherds pie and cheesy jacket spuds!

FiveShelties · 07/07/2019 23:04

Monday morning here and weighed in at 10st 4.4lbs so have lost 5 pounds and am delighted. This is the first time I have got straight back to eating sensibly after a holiday. I usually leave it a couple (or more) weeks and end up gaining even more.

Need to get back to doing 10,000 steps and drinking more water this week.

Have an excellent week everyone.

Sharpkat · 08/07/2019 05:28

Morning all

So, official weigh in this morning is 76.9kg which is annoying as it was 76.7 yesterday. Anyway, that is 1.1kg down from last week.

Here's to some really good weight loss and a happy and healthy week for us all!

chutneypig · 08/07/2019 06:10

Morning everyone. I’m down 0.2 kg from last Monday. Not great but I’ve inky had three days this week where I’ve stuck to my calories with travelling. So I’m considering it a win that I didn’t succumb to temptation and eat loads and loads. Not doing any damage was my goal so happy with that.

I’m travelling a bit this week but will have far more control over what to eat and chances to exercise. Not much exercise hit as much as anything last week.

Well done on the loss @FiveShelties and post holiday discipline. And we’ll done @Sharpkat

Here’s to seeing lots more of the same this morning as the weigh ins come in!

pookypup · 08/07/2019 06:21

Official weigh in at 69kg, which is 2kg loss. I’m pleasantly surprised. Tummy could be looking a bit flatter - still v wobbly on legs and bum though!

Great to see losses @Sharpkat and @FiveShelties - that’s amazing! Feels like having a The support of this thread is really helping. Flowers

pookypup · 08/07/2019 06:23

@chutneypig you’ve done well to maintain whilst away from home - don’t know that I would have been so good!

cheesenpickles · 08/07/2019 07:28

I'm down another 1lb this morning which considering I've had birthday cake and booze this weekend is very lucky. The cake had a bit of a bad effect though as I was hungry much earlier than I would have been yesterday. Back to normal now and getting my head back in the game.

Jollyholibobs · 08/07/2019 07:32

Morning all. Well done @Sharpkat and @FiveShelties for your week 1 success.

Have weighed in today at 131.8lbs. 4lbs less than last Monday but not my lowest weight this week. Finished yesterday on 1179 calories no extra exercise but logged over 10k steps with gardening and house work. Nice barbecue in the evening-tuna steak skewers with roast red pepper, corn on the cob and a coleslaw made with low cal mayo.

My plan for today is
B porridge
L spelt pasta and pepper ragu from Fridays batch cook
D salad

This thread is helping with accountability. Have a good day everyone.
