Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

@WhatALearningCurve my scales are taunting me too - 120.8 this morning so 5lbs down from the weekend. It can’t be true!! I’m going to keep calm and carry on, my squishy tummy doesn’t look or feel like I’m 5lbs down so I won’t believe it till it’s stayed that way for a while.

pookypup · 05/07/2019 14:27

Great to read so many people’s scales are going in the right direction - I’m looking forwards to Monday! Hopefully we will continue to see it at the weekly mark.

I’m weighing on Mondays to help maintain focus over the weekend! I know I’ll be over cal on Saturday pizza night, but doing my best to offset it elsewhere.

Harnett11 · 05/07/2019 18:55

I agree with you @Chickenitalia reading everyone’s comments gives you motivation but also when they voice their hurdles & how to try to overcome them or if not to be as good as you can. Been good today but not exercising tonight as oh & I are going for a long walk tomorrow.

Wenchelda · 05/07/2019 19:06

Just about on target today and also fitted in an impromptu 40min or so energetic walk so that's good.

Going to dig out my fit bit and charge it up so I can start tracking my steps.

So hot today and been out in the sun for most of it at school sports day and then the walk so feel like I must've sweated off some weight as I was melting!

Jollyholibobs · 05/07/2019 19:46

Well done everyone some really encouraging results so far. On track so far for calorie intake. Made a delicious rice salad for lunch with not s lot of rice and lots of veg, plus a handful of rocket and some chunks of cooked beetroot. Dinner is going to be spelt pasta and courgette and pepper. I’ll cook a big batch so it will be next weeks lunch a couple of days as well.

No exercise today. Maybe a bit of housework tonight to cover two chores at once- I’d rather go for a run as it’s a lovely evening but there’s laundry and cooking to do.

Keep up the good work. Keep exhaling fat!

cheesenpickles · 05/07/2019 20:41

Eeek. Bad one today. I've just been to a new nightclub opening and the PRs kept thrusting drinks at me. Blatantly over my carbs though managed to sneak away. Off home for a chicken shish takeaway with my husband and it's dc's birthday tomorrow so expect another bad carb day. Hoping that I'll be able to get back into ketosis easily after today. DrDiva · 05/07/2019 20:59

Not a great calorie day for me either. Sad I was at home, which never goes particularly well at the moment.
On the plus side, I walked 13,000 steps and did 2 lots of shred to make up for the lack of any yesterday. So hopefully that keeps some of the damage at bay!
@Jollyholibobs that salad sounds delicious. Any dressing?

I have a question re My Fitness Pal. Why, if I just log steps as I go, rather than logging it as a “walk, moderate pace, 2.5mph”, is the calories consumption rate halved?

LosingLola · 05/07/2019 22:20

@Chickenitalia thank you. I'm not sure there is anything else that would have helped, but if you think of anything then suggest away! It was just a freak set of circumstances that meant I got really upset and stressed and emotional.

@DrDiva when you set MFP up you told it how active you are in a day. Your steps are counted towards this - if you said you are "sedentary" then it expects only a few steps and any extra count as exercise calories earnt, but if you selected "very active" the threshold for earning is higher.
When you add in walking as exercise, it's then expecting that to be done in addition to your normal daily activities. So you earn more calories because it's counting it all as exercise.
There is a setting to allow negative exercise calories. It's turned off by default. But if you turn it on you should find that both will give the same result.

Jollyholibobs · 05/07/2019 22:36

@DrDiva I just put a teaspoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of red wine vinegar on the salad and mixed it through. Veg were grated courgettes, tomato, chopped yellow pepper, spring onion with the rice and rocket a beetroot on the side. The rice was cooked the day before left over from family dinner- straight in the fridge after cooking.

Sorry no idea about your mfp question though.

@cheesenpickles enjoy the birthday!

pookypup · 05/07/2019 22:49

Checking in at 1299 cals today, (banking a bit of spare for tomorrow). Three simple changes worked well and still felt like a good Friday night - single G&T instead of double, Prosecco instead of red wine and no pre dinner nibbles. Probably saved about 400cals with that!

Nice to read about everyone getting on well, and those who didn’t stick to the plan - it’s Friday and I think we are all allowed one evening a week off? grin

@LosingLola I hope you had a better day today.

FiveShelties · 06/07/2019 03:57

I have been very good so far, have planned meals for today and tomorrow. Hopefully scales will be kind to me. Still struggling with the 10,000 steps especially on Thursday when it rained heavily from morning to night - weather better today, cold but dry so steps should be at a reasonable level.

Have an excellent week-end everyone.

Foreverlexicon · 06/07/2019 08:06

I’m down 1.2lb this week. Would of liked a bit more - I resisted cake AND pizza yesterday! But I’ll take it. The next pound or two should take me into a healthy BMI.

I’m having 2000 calories a day for the weekend - I find this keeps me on track as after 5 days of 1500 I’m getting a bit fed up so it lets me have a few treats and makes weekend socialising easier.

Plan for today;
Breakfast - not sure yet but thinking banana pancakes
Lunch - jacket potato with beans, cheese and veg
Dinner - turkey with mushrooms and leak in a creme fraiche sauce.
Big slab of galaxy for pud!

butterwithtoast · 06/07/2019 08:22

Well I've just weighed myself and am down 3lbs from Monday! So resisting the biscuits is definitely making a difference. We've got a lot of family get togethers and birthdays over the next week so it's going to be difficult to be as sensible, but I'm feeling pretty motivated after not seeing any change in the scales for a few months. Well done to everyone who has had a successful week!

DrDiva · 06/07/2019 08:29

@LosingLola thank you! I sort of understand the explanation. I just wondered why a 5 hour hike only got me something like 200 cals used!! I felt a bit cheated, really! Grin
And I hope the weather is good where you are and you get to do something lovely just for yourself.

I’m finding doing the Shred easy at the moment as I stick on Wimbledon and bounce around to that. Fx I don’t do a calorie rampage what with being at home over the weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone.

DrDiva · 06/07/2019 08:30

Just weighed. I put the 2lbs back on Sad
Really need to keep an eye on intake over the weekend.

Gonegardening · 06/07/2019 08:37

Morning all. Saturday weigh in done and 2.8 pounds lost Grin. I’m pretty pleased with that considering I’ve had wine the last two nights and half a pizza and chips yesterday evening whilst out. I did do a 10km run yesterday so hopefully that cancelled some of the damage.

Feeling like I could make my target by the end of the month as long as I don’t nose dive back into the biscuit tin. Going to try for a healthier weekend but most likely still with a few small treats, as otherwise I’d be more likely to stray Monday - Thursday. Also aiming to do some exercise everyday as I’m keen not just to loose a few pounds but also improve my overall fitness and hopefully see a bit of muscle tone. Well done everyone for sticking with week one!

cheesenpickles · 06/07/2019 08:45

Just weighed in and I stayed the same as yesterday so that's a relief Grin Making sure I'm back on it today (with a sliver of birthday cake later). I'm hoping that I can get back into/haven't knocked myself out of ketosis but the calorie deficit I'm doing should keep me on the straight and narrow.

Non-scale victory today. I'm wearing denim shorts and despite wearing a few dresses lately I've not had any chub rub. Feeling really good about how I look at the moment. Long way to go but comparing photos of myself from a month ago it's really working Smile

BustedDreams · 06/07/2019 10:22

Good morning you lovely lot. Sorry I’ve been mia. From last Saturday to this one I’m down 3.8lbs. However last couple of days I’ve not eaten much due to migraine so I think I will gain back some of that back before my official weekly weigh in, which is Monday for me.

I need to catch up on posts, but wishing you all a great weekend!

LosingLola · 06/07/2019 11:22

Officially gained half a pound at weigh in this morning. That's not as bad as I was expecting so I'm fine with it.

Chickenitalia · 06/07/2019 11:51

1057 cals for yesterday, happy with that.
Today will be more as I’m taking dd out for a girly afternoon after her dance show rehearsal, ds is away on camp so it’s just us. But I don’t get much time just with her so other than being a bit more sensible, I’m letting this one go.
Dh came home with some wine last night and I didn’t have any! The lack of bloating seems worth it at the moment. It’s nice to not have waistbands digging in.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Lucked · 06/07/2019 12:23

I have a very good feeling about this thread!

I have weighed daily and it is important Not take every loss and gain to heart. On thing I have noticed is I am very sensitive to salt. So a salty meals can mean a massive weight gain from water retention which can take days to settle down. I don’t necessarily feel bloated but it happens every time.

I was down 2lbs on Thursday but haven’t weight myself again yet.

I am attempting a third fast day. On a Saturday. It’s madness and I am not sure I will be successful. Very hungry and having to prepare food and be around others eating is not what I am used to on fast days

WhatALearningCurve · 06/07/2019 13:25

So yesterday I pretty much fasted in the day because I was going to a gig last night so was saving my calories for food and drink.

Didn't eat and drank a lot so I am not feeling great today.

Plus side is I've apparently lost 8lb since Monday but im very aware most of that is now dehydration from yesterday ha. On my way to meet a friend for lunch today and calories are not being counted today as I'm in need of a lot of white carbs to recover ha

DrDiva · 06/07/2019 20:19

@cheesenpickles the clothes fitting again thing is great, isn’t it?! It’s like having a new wardrobe.
@BustedDreams really hope you are feeling better. A migraine is grim Flowers
@WhatALearningCurve I hope you enjoyed the gig!

pookypup · 06/07/2019 22:36

Evening all, bit of a disaster cal wise for me but a nice evening with friends- all went wrong with Pimms at about 5.30...

Not too concerned/ back on the wagon tomorrow and trying to be good.

Hope you all had a good Saturday

Sharpkat · 07/07/2019 07:16

Morning all

Well, I am down 1.3kg since Monday. Will do official weigh tomorrow as it will no doubt go back up.

Am psyching myself up to get up and face the rain for a walk before bootcamp. Going for a swim later as well.

Had far too much wine yesterday. Never mind. Onwards and upwards.

Hope you all have a good day and do what is right for you.
