Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

Hi Everyone - I'm an aerobics instructor and personal trainer (I was just doing some research online for my new Mums class and I saw this thread)!

Anyway - I just wanted to say hats off to you, try to remember to do what you can when you can and not beat yourselves up trying to juggle kids, work and health! It's really tough...…….a few golden rules I try to keep in mind:

  1. 1 meal will not make you fat
  2. 1 workout will not make you a fitness model
  3. Everything in moderation and nothing to excess - a little bit of what you love is good for you ;-)
  4. I totally am a firm believer that it's a lifestyle choice rather than a diet.....that's where the long term sustainable results come from
  5. 80% of what you are is what you eat......exercise is the cherry on top to add definition and improve fitness but most of your results are generated in the kitchen

Good luck xx

Hi is.like to join. I want to do the fast 800 diet so if anybody can explain it to.me that would be great. I have 3 stones to lose !!

Eattothebeat · 28/02/2019 14:51

Hi All, doing ok today except succumbed to a bag of pom bears in a moment of stress but I am counting that as a very minor blip.

I too love my jeans and my current favourites are from h&m and topshop but if anyone can recommend a more flattering brand then I'd love to know as I can't be bothered to do the legwork of going round all the shops trying them on.
Morriszapp it's a Small World! Most of my favourite low carb dinners involve a lot of fat which might go against the grain for you. Moussaka without potatoes is good, as is chilli con carne with no rice and guacamole, grated cheese and sour cream. If you want fajitas you can use iceberg lettuce leaves instead of tortillas and you can eat loads of them without getting bloated.
Well done to all the losers and the perseverers - let's keep on keeping on.

beela · 28/02/2019 15:04

@laurawilkins great set of rules!

It really is all about sustainability. My other rule (which I read on here) is: 'party food is for parties'

laurawilkins · 28/02/2019 15:12

@beela I love that!! If only every day was a party Cake x

Em78dodds · 28/02/2019 16:02

Thanks for that Laura. I have been very good for 2 days and installed myfitnesspal app so let's hope it works. Well done all 🤗

helenb706 · 28/02/2019 16:35

I love the fact that we are all being honest. Life is for living and goodness knows we all have enough pressures. One bag of prom bears is hardly going to pile the pounds on... if you have slipped, fess up but come back as we are all slipping but the key is to keep going and knowing how everyone else is doing is really motivating me. My top tip as a mega tea drinker is almond milk... Think the lack of carbs means I'm not feeling the munchies. Joe Wicks is supposed to really push it.

Well I'm on day 4 of trying to ditch the junk and eat healthily
Breakfast small bowl of muesli and granola with small amount of ss milk
Lunch Warburtons thin(100 cal) sandwich with chicken ham and plenty of salad oh and small squeeze of skinny mayonnaise
Dinner probably chicken and big plate of veg
I suspect I eat too much but I'm finding if I eat less I just want crisps muesli bars wine!!! Etc etc
Anyone got some good tricks for this gas to fill up on that are lower in calories but don't make you desperate for the sugar/carbs etc

MorrisZapp · 28/02/2019 18:27

I thought pom bears were basically diet food? Like wotsits and quavers, the main ingredient is air!

notevenamum1 · 28/02/2019 18:31

Forgive me father for I have also sinned! Had 2 eggs for brekkie and lunch was soup with two (small!) slices of Tesco high protein bread and it did not fill me up at all!!! I love soup...especially smooth blended soup but it does not fill me up at all. I came home from work ravenous and had a slice of said bread with cheese. With dinner planned tonight it takes me about 50 cals over my daily allowance (and includes my fun size twix sacrifice :() so not the worst but I’m still disappointed with myself. Lesson learnt - eat solids! Finally have a free weekend coming up so going to do a big shop and bulk make lunch/dinners for the week

Thisimmortalcurl · 28/02/2019 18:38

I’m addicted to crisps ... my “ diet” crisps are beef space raiders (64 cals) ringos (74cals) wasabi curls ( boots 90 cals ) and cheese and onion squares ( about 100 cals)
The other snack I love are the flavoured chick peas from Holland and Barrett .. I think the are 86 cals and leave you very full.

Anyway , so far today has been good , crispbreads with blue cheese laughing cow and pastrami with salad and space raiders .
Then I had a slow cooker sausage casserole with cabbage / leeks / potatoes / onion / carrots.. I’m not sure at all off the cals but guests at about 450 .

Thisimmortalcurl · 28/02/2019 18:40

I am going to have gin and slim tonight though .

Thisimmortalcurl · 28/02/2019 18:43

Two course .. no doubt starter and main .. what do you think are the lowest cal options?
This is my meal out tomorrow and I really want not to end up eating three courses and a bottle of wine !

beela · 28/02/2019 18:58

thisimmortalcurl yum, I'd just go for what I fancied and make sure I enjoyed it. But that's maybe why I can't lose my last few lbs!

So far today I've had coconut yoghurt and berries for breakfast, a kale & butternut squash warm salad for lunch.

I had 2 cups of tea and a handful of banana chips when I got home from work - I'm a bit cross as I was trying not to snack but it's better than falling headfirst into the biscuit tin I guess.

helenb706 · 28/02/2019 19:11

You are all absolved as I had some salted peanuts... but then a healthy tea and no wine!

O4FS · 28/02/2019 19:17

Smoked salmon, steak (ox cheek sausage roll?!! Yes please) and Creme brûlée. And a nice bottle of red.

I’m sorry I can’t be more supportive but that has ‘Sod it!’ Written all over it!

O4FS · 28/02/2019 19:20

Fajita and a M&S chocolate mousse here tonight. Beany soup for lunch, bacon and egg for breakfast. All came in at 852 calories. Ikea chocolate and mint tea later (tastes better than it sounds!)

O4FS · 28/02/2019 19:21

Oh I had a packet of cheese and onion French fries too (in that 852).

Whereareyouspot · 28/02/2019 20:12

O4FS how are you surviving on the 800 a day? Are you feeling hungry at all?

I’ve managed to do an hours HIIT class on line before tea so am pleased I didn’t do the usual post work snackathon

Now having an egg white omelette and salad.

Eattothebeat · 28/02/2019 20:13

Pom bears are not good for us low carb/high fat types as they throw everything out of kilter however they're good for calorie counters. Finished the day with a run so feeling quite positive although apparently heavy weights are the way to go for real weight loss - I keep reading the more muscle you build the more calories you burn. Is anyone up for doing 10 minutes HIIT with weights each day and reporting back on here to speed up their weight loss? One of our directors at work does 10 minutes HIIT every morning and she has the best figure of any woman I know.

Whereareyouspot · 28/02/2019 20:14

@thisimmortalcurl none of those are a low cal option! Can’t choose between them really and I’d get hives if I had to eat from that!
Maybe get them to adapt something so have the steak and ask for an udressed salad and some plain potatoes in place of the dauphinois?

O4FS · 28/02/2019 20:38

whereareyouspot actually no not hungry. I think eating 11-7 helps, so if I do a 9.30 excercise class by the time I’m home and showered it’s 11. Protein rich breakfast, lunch at 2, cup of tea and square of dark chocolate 3.30 and dinner 6ish. Herbal tea after that. I sound quite disciplined, very unlike me!
I’ve had 850 today.
Trying to make sure the calories count - except for the empty French fry crisps today. I’m weighing and measuring portions, counting everything on MFP.

Harumphharagh · 28/02/2019 20:59

Great advice from the personal trainer.

Did day one of yoga with Adrienne’s dedicate series, plus about half an hour of walking.

Had 2 teeny wild salmon steaks, two boiled eggs, a ton of veg and water for dinner. About to have a very small glass of red.

Teetering on edge of 11’3 today!

OhHelp0hNo · 28/02/2019 21:23

@Thisimmortalcurl ooh that menu sounds so good! None of it looks particularly healthy though so I'd probably just have what I fancied just for one meal, it won't do too much damage if you get back on track the next morning Smile
Are you going to the theatre? If so, what are you seeing?

I've had a good day on track and ended up banking 4 WW points for the weekend. Feeling motivated!

OhHelp0hNo · 28/02/2019 21:27

@Whereareyouspot an hours HIIT?! I struggle with 10 minutes!!

@Eattothebeat yes I'm up for that, doing a 10 minute HIIT most days really helped with my weight loss last year. I won't be able to do it every day but I aim for 4 days a week.
Incidentally I also know a really healthy director who does 10 minutes of HIIT every morning, I wonder if it's the same person?! Grin
