Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

Hmm I don’t like cheese so that’s out

The ‘cake’ has no sugar in it but it has a spoon of buckwheat flour then just egg white

I normally only eat berries no other fruit

I just don’t like that high fat cheesy food.
I do love pulses and beans and would hate to them up.

Eattothebeat · 19/03/2019 17:35

spot this could be trickier than I thought! The cake might not have much sugar in it but the apple puree is pure sugar.

Eattothebeat · 19/03/2019 17:37

Sorry I should qualify the trickier than I thought sentence by adding because you don't like cheese! I'm sure it is still possible to low carb without eating cheese or meat but your options are limited. Do you like nuts and olives and mushrooms and aubergines?

Whereareyouspot · 19/03/2019 18:02

I’ve put the cake into MFP and it has 14g cans the whole cake and I had under a half for my lunch.

Eat loads of raw mushrooms but don’t like olives. It’s the greasy ness of fatty foods I just don’t like

I’ve read the low carb threads and heave at all the descriptions of cream in coffee and fatty meat!

I’m a lost carb cause!
I’d be so sad to give up lentils and beans and veggies.

Eattothebeat · 19/03/2019 19:53

spot no worries at all - it sounds like you'd hate the majority of the food so it wouldn't be sustainable and it does sound like you eat a really healthy diet with all the veg and beans etc

Whereareyouspot · 19/03/2019 20:07

Windy tho ConfusedGrinBlush

Whereareyouspot · 20/03/2019 07:06

Right I’ve spent hours last night looking at lower carb eating
My hardest challenge will be accepting more fat I think- I’m of the Rosemary Conley era and it will feel so strange!
I’m panicked that I’ll gain weight and then be in a worst state so I’m going to go slowly.

The literature seems to declare a loss of appetite ie better satiety but I’m a habit eater not a hunger eater so that might not be the boost it is supposed to be!

Anyway so far my three cups of morning tea have been black not swimming in skimmed milk so let’s see!

TheyCalledHerPatience · 20/03/2019 07:53

Thanks for the welcomes. I am going to try to stick to around 1400 calories a day, including cutting down on alcohol which is a definite downfall of mine. I managed to resist a glass of wine last night even though there was a bottle with one glass left in it so that's a good start...

Thisimmortalcurl · 20/03/2019 09:00

It def does reduce appetite spot . It’s a diet that I’ve been on a few times and it does work . It didn’t suit me personally long term though as it made me feel sick and had a big regain of weight as soon as I stopped it ... although you are meant to re start carbs slowly and mine tended to be in the months leading up to a holiday and I would be eating bread again before the plane took off . It does work for loads of people though.
I had a good day yesterday and I’m back to 8/10.
Working loads over the next while .. three long days , one day off then another two long days .. I’m absolutely dreading it and tiredness is one of my failing points when it comes to snacking .
I really want to break the 8/10 barrier though .

Eattothebeat · 20/03/2019 09:08

spot if it helps you to get out of the rosemary conley low fat mindset, a widely held belief is that the start of the obesity epidemic coincided with us all being told to eat low fat foods that were packed with sugar.
patience well done with resisting the alcohol. I tend to have a very weak gin with lots of slimline tonic and ice and lemon when I have a drink and that way you don't damage the diet. Wine is the worst for packing on the pounds.
Well today I am feeling very determined. I have deflated overnight and my appetite is non existent which I think is because I had no carbs at all yesterday. I am focusing on sitting by the pool in a bikini and feeling good. Also did an hour of spin last night and lifted some weights.

Caggie09 · 20/03/2019 09:48

@Eattothebeat, Id be to scared to pop on a picture of me on here in a bikini🙈 But good for you, it will give everyone abit of motivation.

I didnt do well yesterday, i worked late, Its always my downfall. And didnt do day 7 shred. But, i feel really happy with my body at the minute, it comes and goes, next week ill be upset about it! I feel like my face has lost weight too, but i dont know🙈

Had a cheeky weigh this morning, the scales are close to 9st 7, eeeeeeekk id be so happy if i get that on Friday. (Probably wont now ive said this!) Was going to treat myself for lunch that was probably high in calories. I wont be now. Off for a workout nowGrin

Eattothebeat · 20/03/2019 14:34

caggie well I'm hoping that posting a picture on here will incentivise me to keep up the diet and exercise for the next three weeks. If it all goes wrong and I'm looking a bit lardy I can always just disappear from here, name change and pop up on a new dieting thread Grin
Well done for getting close to 9 stone 7 ish and fingers crossed you get there for Friday.
Dieting going well so far today. Snacked on nuts, olives and artichokes instead of lunch and having beef and mushroom chilli with guacamole for dinner.
How's everyone else doing?

EmmaBell88 · 20/03/2019 16:51

Monday and Tuesday were good days for me, stayed within my calorie allowance and didn't struggle with it. Today is not so good....eaten a jam donut and kit kat chunky 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I'd say even after that I'll still end up under the calories I actually burn in a day so all is not lost!

beela · 20/03/2019 18:13

I've had yoghurt and berries for breakfast, sweet potato soup for lunch, and a spinach and halloumi omelette for tea. 2 after eights as a mid afternoon snack.... Could have been worse!

I've been sat at my desk most of today so I'm looking forward to my swim later on.

Thursdays and Fridays are usually where it starts going wrong, but I'm hoping my new Friday weigh in will help with that.

sparklyglitterball · 20/03/2019 19:58

Hi all, I'm having a reasonable diet day. Had porridge and a few grapes for breakfast, stir fry green veg with some chopped vege sausage, and a small portion of courgette risotto with quorn escalope for dinner. I'm breastfeeding my 4 month dd so aiming for around 1600 calories per day so doesn't affect my supply. I'm glad to have that excuse cos I'd struggle to go much lower than that at the mo! Feeling really hungry at times. It's really interesting hearing about how cutting down on carbs reduces your appetite. I managed one low carb meal today so that's a start!

Eattothebeat · 21/03/2019 05:23

Morning all. Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well this week so far. glitter for me the best thing about low carbing is how it stabilises your appetite. Carbs and sugar particularly have a massive impact on your blood sugar so when you eat them you get a surge of energy but then you crash and get slumps so crave more carbs. Protein/fat doesn't have that effect so your blood sugar is more stable and you don't have the cravings.

Going great guns here this week and trying to get in some daily exercise too. I'm going to have a green smoothie for breakfast. Hoping to break the 9 stone barrier next time I weigh. Remember to drink lots of water everyone - it doesn't just help with the diet it makes your face look better too.

Whereareyouspot · 21/03/2019 06:50

I’m doing rubbish again!
But I’ve been up at five and done an hour of HIIT so that’s something

Eattothebeat · 21/03/2019 09:25

Well done on the HIIT though Spot at least you'll be getting fitter and more toned.

MorrisZapp · 21/03/2019 11:10

Managed a one pound loss this week despite absolute carnage at the weekend! I'll take that!

Back on the straight and narrow, hoping for a pound a week off until my birthday in June.

sparklyglitterball · 21/03/2019 15:30

One pound per week is what I'm aiming for too. It's the weekends I struggle with..........difficult to have a social life and avoid treat food/wine!

I managed a low carb lunch of salad, hard boiled eggs and some mayo. Trying to re wire my brain into thinking I don't need carbs with every meal.

Well done on the losses and the exercise 💪

Eattothebeat · 21/03/2019 17:30

Well done morris on your pound loss especially if you didn't have the healthiest of weekends.
sparkly weekends are so damaging aren't they. I find that if I've been bad I just throw the towel in completely until Monday morning. My friend gave me a good analogy that I try to hang on to. She said if you dropped your phone and cracked your screen slightly why would you want to then jump up and down on it and smash it to pieces when the small bit of damage can be easily repaired. Food for thought there!
I've been pretty good again today - just had chilli fried prawns and spring onions on a bed of avocado and chopped tomato (tomatoes are slightly carby but not enough to derail me and my nutritionist colleague is always telling me to "eat the rainbow" every day in terms of colours of fruit and veg).

Eattothebeat · 21/03/2019 17:31

ps hope everyone else is doing ok and even if you're not then you can always start again!

Thisimmortalcurl · 21/03/2019 17:34

Well done Morris
I remain the same .. I was pretty good yesterday and today ( so far) I’m being very good especially for being at work . Subway chicken tikka salad and some really thick and lovely immune boosting soup . I did have a packet of crisps as well . I actually feel quite full .. which is unusual.

luckylips · 22/03/2019 00:02

I'm still here! Been reading but not posting. Was 10 13 at Monday's weigh in so I think that's 3-4lbs off?

I'm also going for 1lb a week loss as I want to lose weight but also be realistic and enjoy life!

Eattothebeat · 22/03/2019 07:05

Well we'll have been going on this thread for a month on Sunday. So whether you've lost half a pound or half a stone during that time it's still great progress because if we weren't on here trying to be healthier then we'd probably be gradually gaining weight.
For me if I manage to break into the 8 stones that will be the lowest I've been in a decade and it was when I felt at my very best and my clothes fit well and hung well and I didn't have to worry about trying to cover bits up and I felt really body confident. Onwards!
