I think I'm going to try and swap every other coffee for water and increase as I get used to the lack of caffeine. I've got gapes in even high end ones and I used to use them but went back to smoking after illness last year meant I couldn't do the coils anymore. I had a mini stroke - another reason why I need to sort myself out, and I still struggle a little with my left hand.

LonelyOversharer · 06/01/2019 22:39

jade first job: swap out sugar with a sweetner. I used to have at least 12 cups a day, 2 spoons of demerera sugar in it. Swapped out (first 10 cups taste awful, then they just taste normal) and lost a stone without making any other changes. I started with Splenda, as it tasted the most like sugar to me. Now any old sweetner will do.

Can't help with the fags, but you know you need to quit, so we can all encourage you along!

life my Garmin can be a pain in the arse too. I walk up and down the corridor until it starts to register steps, then go on the spot, keeping on checking the fecking thing is counting. They are a little too pernickity about what is a "step" sometimes!

We found out that it is a)blowing a gale, and b)raining icy rain, when we went for the night time dog walk. Dd2 was less out of breath tonight. She is my bigger built girl, and the (very) brisk walk will do her tonnes of good. About 1.5 miles tonight, as it was absolutely freezing.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 06/01/2019 22:44

Evening all. My protein was better today.

Only 210 steps today, but did lots of housework.
Welcome jade, sounds like you have a good plan there.

It's been a reasonably good week & I redeemed my steps somewhat too. Finished off my calories with breyers cookies & cream ice cream tonight. It wouldn't be my favourite. I'm not an ice cream lover anyhow.

Jade welcome to the thread, I'm also a little one I'm only half an inch taller than you Smile
I wasn't a big smoker and also went cold turkey so can't help there, smoking is an appetite suppressant so you may find if you cut back on smoking you might be more interested in eating earlier in the day, you probably get so hungry that you eat more in one sitting than others do in the entire day.
Maybe if you focused on going down the sizes rather than the scales for now?

Wolf I've boxed up the Christmas gifts of wine, whiskey, brandy, tin of chocolate biscuits and a huge box of dairy box & put them out of harms way in crawl space of attic off my room (Santa's hideaway this yearWink) they'll do nicely for DD's communion I think. The reason they're not opened is I'd do exactly what you did if I opened them.

I agree on the first step being cutting out the sugar. That'll be another reason you're not hungry for lunch. Today is a new day and you have two aims 1) swap out the sugar and 2) start having lunch. Next week you can add eating your evening meal with the dc and the week after no evening snacking. Something like that. I wouldn't do it all at once though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/01/2019 07:41

You can do cut out the sugar like that jade.
And until you settle you might eat more but you will be healthier.

jadeyfly · 07/01/2019 09:30

After finishing the school run today, I went for a jog around the park that's next to the school. Then power walked home. Grabbed some sweetener and some wraps rather than bread to have for lunch. I made a fruit smoothie last night and had that when I got in. Was a 4.3 mile round trip including the jog. Don't get paid until weds so going to raid the freezer for what veg is in there and make a veg curry I think tonight.

Happierwithouthim · 07/01/2019 11:25

Well done jade great start made.

Great start

Wolfcub · 07/01/2019 12:56

That’s a fab start Jade, well done.

Brioche toast for breakfast. Two egg omelette with cheese olives and salami for lunch

Happierwithouthim · 07/01/2019 13:44

Eating simple normal food today I'm hitting my macros easily with plenty leftover for rubbish if I wish to have it.

2 Poached eggs on slim seeded bagel for breakfast with light spread
Skyr yogurt/Kiwi/Passionfruit and 30g All Bran with almond milk for mid morning snack
Chicken soup with 2 healthy grain bread and light spread and a Pink Lady Apple for lunch
Chicken Curry with Pilau Rice and Green Beans for Dinner
and then I've 11g Protein to hit and 3g Fibre with 326 calories.

Just after lunch now and I'm stuffed and had the Chicken Curry Sat eve and it was filling too so I think I might just have half a PHD smart bar and a bag of popcorn tonight to say well done to me Grin and will need something to hit remaining 2g fibre with 100cals

Will be doing a spinning class before I eat dinner so it could be late for snack time.

Your menu sounds great happier, I’m doing something similar- getting my basic macros hit leaving a bit of room for something nice later. I might, stress might, be doing a yoga class later. Sent an enquiry and waiting for my more info. My thinking is I’ll have to avoid eating for a good while before and then it doesn’t finish til late so I could just come home to bed. Really hope I get a reply now

Happierwithouthim · 07/01/2019 16:05

The chicken curry is heavy on protein as I made some chicken curry and it was very watery so blitzed that into a sauce and made chicken curry with it so it's got 49g per portion, not frugal but better than throwing it out!
Infinitely better than eating the slim well meals from Aldi with their chicken from god knows where GrinConfused

If you do yoga late I think it guarantees a good nights sleep, my friend used to do hot yoga late in the evening and she found that she slept like a log after it

WreckTangled · 07/01/2019 16:24

I'm really hungry. I eat with the dc though so will eat at 5.

So far today:

Alpen light bar
Homemade soup
Three falafels

Almost 750ml of water and only one coffee!

Dinner is chorizo and tomato spaghetti. Yum! With salad.

Not2bObvious · 07/01/2019 16:34

I’d love a good nights sleep! Got a reply so I’m going, excited now. Yeah the slimfree meals look great on protein but I think they’re gack quite honestly. I’ve a chicken curry and a chilli con carne so one tonight, one tomorrow. Cheap & cheerful

Wolfcub · 07/01/2019 18:00

Breaded cod, new potatoes and brocolli for tea. Not thrilling but relatively heathy

WreckTangled · 07/01/2019 18:54

I ate loads of chocolate Blush in my defence my sugar level went low which makes you want to eat everything in sight and then some. Ah well. Tomorrow is another day. Have to do yoga not sure when I'll do it as I'm really tired now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/01/2019 18:58

Cals and macros bang on, steps shite as WFH but will walk to and from the scout hut in a bit

FATEdestiny · 07/01/2019 19:08

Evening all

10km run this morning. 4km run planned for this evening when the kids are at swimming club. Plus 3km to/from school walks. 24k steps so far, might be a 30k plus day!

2 egg omelette with half a freshly steamed chicken breast, whole green pepper, spinach and cheese for lunch. Then 2 satsumas, grapes and Greek yoghurt.

3 quorn sausages, roasted peppers, steamed carrots and cabbage. Followed by an apple and big mug of warm milk.

A good 6 jumbo mugs of strong coffee. Caffeine is my health downfall. 2 litres of squash so far.

Cagliostro · 08/01/2019 00:29

Ate so much crap today. Find it much harder when anxious, I start craving sugar and caffeine when I’m panicking.

I did at least make it out the house though will be walking down to town tomorrow for Doctor app.

Doing well with my water intake :)

WreckTangled · 08/01/2019 02:34

Couldn't sleep so just did the yoga I didn't do yesterday

Wolfcub · 08/01/2019 04:58

Wreck I hope you managed to get back to sleep

Happierwithouthim · 08/01/2019 05:53

Wreck have things improved with your dh, that was the major cause of me not sleeping properly

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 08/01/2019 06:25

Hope you got back to sleep wreck.
Wow fate that's awesome.
Chalk it up cag and start again today. Hope the Dr helps.

I'm averaging 10k steps a day. Will improve that this week back at work.
Body pump new release today at lunch time

WreckTangled · 08/01/2019 06:32

Yes thanks happier. We will get there. Unless he does it again... Eugh I don't want to get up. I forgot to get my soup out of the freezer too so will have to make a sandwich.
