I love carbs too. The easiest weight I’ve ever lost those was the Tom kerridge low carb happy diet but it is hard to follow in winter!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/01/2019 12:45

Well done fate and welcome aboard.
You have about the same starting point and goal as me lonely. I'm currently 134 lbs and tracking the right way.

Wreck YY to you will get there, slowly does it though.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 06/01/2019 12:45

Wreck, I hope you get to keep it too.

Not2bObvious · 06/01/2019 15:10

Back from shopping (wasn’t frugal at all but I don’t care, I loves what I bought!) Got a nice walk in the park too. Proofing my dough for my pasta, I reckon it’ll cost me 750 cals so let’s see if it’s worth it!
My new weekly average is 163.9, so I’m up 3.9 since the week before Christmas. I can handle that, it’s only the 6th after all.
Decorations down, kids Christmas bed linen washed & waiting to dry to be put away. Ahhh, all done for another year (thankfully!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/01/2019 15:34

Which is least Calorific pasta, rice or cous cous?
Pasta seems very high for what you get. Talking white here

Wolfcub · 06/01/2019 15:54

Cous cous is less calorific than rice

Happierwithouthim · 06/01/2019 16:39

I prefer rice now out of the three especially micro rice Grin

Been to pool with dc I swam as much as I could while supervising them & kicked my legs or stepped when I wasn't swimming.

I love couscous.

Well today I've eaten:

An alpen light bar
Five black coffees

At baby shower:
Two Cornish wafer wth butter
One slice of French bread with butter
Some olives and feta
A cheese twist
Two feta stuffed peppers
Some walkers sensations crisps. A big handful
A tunnocks teacake

Dinner was home made chicken teriyaki with a tblsp of sticky rice. Served with carrot, broccoli and sugar snap peas (stir fried)

I know my food at the baby shower for probably pretty calorific but hoping I made up for it with my small dinner.

QuiteFrugal2019 · 06/01/2019 18:19

Pilau rice is the best for calorie intake and GI.
As its cooked in fat you dont absorb all the carbs/calories .

Todays meals
Breakfast
Porridge,full fat plain yogurt ,berries
Coffee

Lunch
Prawn stirfry
Melon
2 squares dark choc

Dinner (too early so not eaten yet)
Prawn curry
Cauliflower and coconut curry
Pilau rice
Salad

Black tea/water
I dont snack

Will have the rest of the cauliflower curry tomorrow (was a Delicious recipe)

What do the weekly average numbers 163.9 mean ? Blush

Happierwithouthim · 06/01/2019 19:03

Quite doing team Rh we weigh daily and weekly average is the average of all those weigh ins, allowing for fluctuations because of water retention or toilet issues etc

1 tbsp of rice wreck I'd feel so deprived

Need a nap now dd is overly emotional today it's wearing Sad would be putting us all to bed early except I've gotta collect the au pair at 8.30

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 06/01/2019 19:14

Oh gosh happier, not sure how young your dd but have 2 of em, preteen & teen I’ve many years of emotional behaviour stacked up. My sympathies, can be hard going

LonelyOversharer · 06/01/2019 19:41

Oddly it's my 6yr old ds that is being the most annoying emotional today! All 3 of my big girls are just ready to go back.

Tomorrow morning is going to be hellish though.

Food today was rubbish. Half a pack of choc snack a jacks, and a full beef roast with yorkies and roasties. Bloody delicious though. And about 12 cups of coffee.

Will finish my steps walking the dogs later on.

WreckTangled · 06/01/2019 19:46

I did the yoga. Worst one ever as my balance is so bad and I simply can't do downward dog. Feeling disheartened today but will keep at it.

Yuck to Monday mornings! Must check my diary to see where I am tomorrow. Have got soup out the freezer for lunch.

Wolfcub · 06/01/2019 19:51

Wreck have you watched Jessamyn Stanley - she’s great at explaining but also about being clear that there are progressions to poses and modifications

Happierwithouthim · 06/01/2019 20:05

She's 8 not2 I don't suffer from anxiety I'm an eternal optimist so I find it difficult to empathise with her.

Hmm I accidentally fell into the unopened Christmas chocolate biscuits. I don’t even really like chocolate. This is what happens when you don’t have breakfast or a proper lunch

WreckTangled · 06/01/2019 20:35

Wolf I haven't. I'm just doing 30 days of yoga with Adriene. I don't think I'll continue it as yoga isn't my thing but I'll check that one out - thanks Smile

Just found this thread after looking for weight loss tips. Currently at a disgusting (for me) 18-19 stone (daren't weight myself) at 5 ft 2. I used to be a size 14 and 13 stone 8 years go but since having kids I've struggled with weight gain. Didn't help when me and the kids dad split up and I was bored and lonely in the evening so wasn't eating and was drinking 2 bottles of wine by myself just to sleep BlushI've now stopped drinking but find myself eating much more.

My current partner accepts me for who I am and has told me he finds me attractive and would do no matter my size Smile he says he's attracted to me as a person and as long as I'm happy that's all that matters.

But I know I need to shift the weight as it's not doing my health any good at all. I struggle to walk uphill and I can't run around with my children, let alone the back and knee problems I have. So I need to do something now.

I already cook from scratch as I find it cheaper for us as a family. Think my main problem is because I'm so busy during the day cleaning, washing, ironing etc etc I don't even think about eating until the kids have gone to bed and then I end up having too large of a portion then sleep on a full stomach.

Any tips on training myself to eat regular meals. I struggle first thing in the morning especially

WreckTangled · 06/01/2019 21:15

Welcome to our lovely thread!

Personally I don't eat breakfast so can't really help you there. Do you not have lunch? How old are your dc?

I think it's really important for families to eat meals together at the table. It's a way to set up healthy eating habits for your dc too.

I find a smaller dinner plate good for dinner. I like a full plate but some these days are huge!

What would a typical day look like for you? It's really hard to get out of the habit of snacking in the evenings but I find water, herbal tea or even brushing your teeth helps! Also saying 'if I still want it in an hour I'll have something' usually by then the craving has passed (for me anyway)

jadeyfly · 06/01/2019 21:26

They are 5&7 so they need to see me eating properly as well. I don't eat breakfast or lunch and may have a bit of toast just before school afternoon pickup. I do tend to drink a lot of coffee (2 sugars with milk) and I do smoke as well but cutting down with the aim to quit. Don't think I could go cold turkey with non smoking as I tend to just snack at times I would have a smoke, so roughly every half hour Blush

The girls get me up at 5am each morning, they clean themselves up then have breakfast at 6. I have a coffee and a smoke in the kitchen while they are eating then we get them dressed (takes about an hour with hair styling as well) we leave at 7:45 for the school run and that's a 1 hour walk there and back. I then do all the housework which takes a good couple of hours from top to bottom. Then it's time to go and help an elderly neighbor walk her dog and help with housework and I'll cook her evening meal. School pick up at 3:30 then it's homework, playtime, dinner bath bedtime. 8pm I eat then I may either game, Netflix or read. I'm exhausted as well most of the time (hence the gazillion coffees!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/01/2019 21:30

I've brushed my teeth to stop eating more chocolate.
Beef roast dinner isn't bad lonely.
We had a Christmas dinner with leftovers.
Missed fibre today by a couple of grams but weekly average is ok.
Still on cals.
Steps meh. My Garmin isn't picking up walking on the spot which is annoying.
Put it on my ankle when I realised but it makes my steps look shitter

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/01/2019 21:34

Hey jade.
I know nothing about it as I went cold turkey but what about vape instead of smoke?
You are in a caffeine/crash cycle which isn't healthy but you know that and the hardest part is saying it which you have done. Well done you.
Could you do a bit less housework and make time for lunch?
Or have a something while you are walking?
