Hi everyone!

I’m starting a VLCD (Slim and Save) on 1st Jan and wondering is anyone starting too? Or Cambridge, Exabte etc and maybe we could keep each other motivated?

And there was me just about to order some! I had the shepherds pie the other day, if I'd been told it was from a baby jar I'd have totally believed it. Although on the Facebook page someone just posted a picture of it turned into mini burgers which looked fairly edible, not sure if you could do the same with the spag Bol though!

ClashCityRocker · 07/01/2019 18:50

I dont think there's anything you can do to make this better.

It had a really odd banana-y taste.

Ah well. At least the porridge was OK.

Hopefully the shakes will be better, that seems to be the general consensus.

Anything else I should beware of/actually tastes nice?

GoGoJo · 07/01/2019 19:02

I love the spaghetti, it's my favourite! Best advice I had was to order no more than two of everything the first time until you work our what you like. Also if it's the first time you've done it you can really taste the minerals and it puts you off but you get used to that in a few days.

I think I realised why I struggled so much every time I tried exante last year. I had an old macaroni cheese from the terrible white packets and it was disgusting. Really inedible- binned it and had spaghetti instead. So glad they seem to have changed supplier again. The new white chocolate and orange bar was amazing. Wish I'd ordered more.

My reasons for doing this:

  1. fit in this bloody bridesmaids dress!
  2. fit back in the inappropriate leather shorts that I somewhat ambitiously bought at my lowest weight 😂
  3. be fitter and healthier

I love that wedding dress. It is great inspiration.

I went swimming after work and did 30x 25m lengths. Then sauna & steam room.

When I came out I went in m&s for a bag of salad leaves but they had some amazing reductions, the prawn layered salad was 35p (got 2), potato & egg salad was 25p (I'll remove the potato), rice, feta & quinoa (for DP) for 25p, strawberries for 25p, I got a pot of mini rolls to take in to work or for DP for 40p and 2 teryaki chicken dip pots at £1 each.

I've just eaten a prawn salad with the pasta removed and a teryaki chicken pot.

I think if I'm going to do this amount of exercise (I did 50mins on the treadmill this morning) I might be better off doing 2 packs and a low carb meal.

Is talk about food on this thread allowed? Is everyone else doing packs only?

ClashCityRocker · 07/01/2019 19:57

I'm doing packs only for two weeks and then introducing a low carb meal and would love ideas!

Kittensgalore · 07/01/2019 20:05

I'm eating some food too, so low carb low cal ideas really welcome!

GoGoJo · 07/01/2019 20:15

If you are burning that many calories you should probably aim for eating 800-1000 a day. You don't want to over stress your body.

Eliza9917 · 07/01/2019 20:31

Yes I think so to. I'm not supposed to over exercise either. Doing too much makes your body produce cortisol which messes with progesterone production.

I only walked on the treadmill, at 5-5.5 with a gradient of 1.5. I did the 30 lengths in 25mins. BUT I've done absolutely nothing for months and have a lot of weight on me so I'll stick with walking and swimming for a bit but I think I need a dinner, not just a pack.

Eliza9917 · 07/01/2019 20:31

*too

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 07/01/2019 20:37

Omg that dress is stunning!! You have to stick with plan as it would be a crime to let that dress go to waste!

My reasons are very simular to everyone else's.

  1. need to get BMI under 30 before dr will allow us to have fertility treatment. We have no children yet but desperately trying (3 year now)

  2. I want to look and feel better, feel so sluggish and am bored of running out of breath walking up the stairs!

  3. I have a neurological disorder which is made worse by being overweight. Im okay but it means I get headaches quite a lot and my eyesight is getting slightly worse.

It would be great to have a load of thread babies!!! Good luck to all struggling, we can do this! 💪

GoGoJo · 07/01/2019 22:57

Yes fingers crossed for some babies! I would seriously recommend that you get busy as much as possible in the next few weeks- there is definitely something in the hormones that keto releases that gives a bit of a fertility boost

Pitapotamus · 07/01/2019 23:20

My reasons are also similar to everyone else’s, I open my wardrobe every morning and agonise over what I can possibly wear. My five year old asked me why I always wear the same thing the other day! A baggy mum jumper and jeans is all I can get away with!

Still seeing no real weight loss since my initial 7lbs. I think I am feeling slimmer though so maybe the whoosh effect is a real thing! I can’t stop myself from weighing daily!

I’m just doing shakes, no real food at all because I’m quite all or nothing, as soon as I have to actually make decisions about food it’ll go wrong!

I generally eat healthily but I put on a lot of weight through pregnancy and an under active thyroid rather than bad diet. I’ve mostly lost that now but my “normal” diet just maintains the weight at about a stone over where I want to be! I’m hoping if I ditch that stone I can maybe move to a 5:2 style diet for maintenance!

My main side effect seems to be an inability to regulate my body temperature- I’m mainly freezing. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Meralia · 07/01/2019 23:54

I know it’s a bit late in the game, but is there room for a (not so) little one?

I’m starting slim and save (lifestyle) tomorrow. Really need to shift 5 stone. I’ll be doing 3 meal replacement packs a day then a low carb, low cal evening meal.

I joined slimming world last June and lost just over a stone and a half by September but have put 1 stone back on. I’ve done slim and save before, and I definitely think they are the nicest tasting vlcd.

Good luck all.

MissElaineNeus · 08/01/2019 06:09

Just started slim and save as I want to drop some weight quickly. The packs I tried yesterday were horrible though, not nearly as nice as Cambridge. The sweet and sour noodles were ridiculously sweet and the mushroom and ham pasta was like glue. Regretting buying a months's supply :(

rainbowgrimm · 08/01/2019 06:56

Welcome to the newcomers, never to late to start.
I'm finishing the week on -7lbs, I'll take that. 3lb to lose before I'm in the next stone bracket - that's this week's aim.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 08/01/2019 07:29

Well done Rainbow!! 7lbs is amazing Grin

Welcome everyone! Good luck on day 1! Trust me, you will be fine just push through it :) Elaine, that is a bit shit, just try a few of the products you may find some are nicer than others. If you really hate it, maybe write off the stock and get a cwp consultant? Or try exante?

ClashCityRocker · 08/01/2019 07:44

Day 1 done!

Expected to wake starving today, but haven't, which is good.

I think it's going to take trial and error to see what I like and what I don't.

On today's menu we have a lemon bar, ham and mushroom soup and a shake.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 08/01/2019 08:09

Good luck on day 2 Clash!! Omg the lemon bars used to be my fave on cwp, haven't bought any yet but might put them on my next order :)

Eliza9917 · 08/01/2019 10:56

Well done clash!
I'm having a caramel crunch bar, a banana smoothie and undecided on dinner yet.

I'm 2lb down on yesterday mornings weight.

MissElaineNeus · 08/01/2019 10:57

Day 2 for me too and the cottage pie is a lot better than the mushroom pasta. Not too hungry at all so far.

I used to like the lemon bars too and I don't have a sweet tooth.

Meralia · 08/01/2019 12:06

My order arrived this morning, so have filled in my online planner. I don’t eat breakfast anyway so my day for today is as follows:

Cookies and cream shake, mixed with 100g of fage 0% Greek style yoghurt.

Lemon yoghurt bar.

Spaghetti Bolognaise meal pack

4 babybel lights and salad.

Hope everyone else is doing good and is on track.

Meralia · 08/01/2019 12:17

Just to add, my starting weight is 14 stone 7lb. My height is 5ft 4in.

About 9 years ago, I was 8 stone, I was so slim I loved it. I then suffered from an episode of severe depression and the anti depressants I was on (mirtazapine, full dose) increased my hunger massively and I gained weight so quickly.

Although I probably won’t be able to achieve that weight again, as I’m now older and have had another child since, I would like to get to 9stone 7.

I’m really motivated this time. Before when I’ve done VLCD I’ve been good for a week or two, then I start messing around, missing packs, eating them at different times than I’m used to. I’m committed to following this to the letter.

TheBookThief · 08/01/2019 12:27

Room for another one?

I 'should' lose 5 stone but will be happy with 4.
My S&S order is being delivered today, I'm both excited and scared.
So sick of the constant weight yo-yo I do. As with every other time, I've said that THIS TIME is the last time I do this, but I've lost count how many times I've said that over the decades. But I figure every time I do this I am better prepared and have learned 1 more thing about myself than last time. THIS TIME I WILL SUCCEED permanently.

I'm going to be doing 3 packs and a meal because my kids are at the age where I think its important we still all sit and eat (real food) together. I am also doing Veganuary so there'll be lots of veg and tofu.

I know my pinch points are thinking 'just one wont hurt', 'I'll start again tomorrow' and all the other self-sabotaging bullshit, that and emotional eating and boredom in the evenings.
I'm planning on eating tea earlier and then taking the laptop and a herbal tea to bed to keep me away from the kitchen.

We can Do This!

rainbowgrimm · 08/01/2019 13:33

Urgh, I'm struggling today. I'm not hungry, not at all, but I want to pick. I've come home from work for lunch as everyones ordered food in from the cafe and I don't want to sit there and smell their chips. Instead I'm treating my self to a can of Raspberry coke zero and will go back when they've all finished. I want 3lb+ next week - eyes on the prize!

Eliza9917 · 08/01/2019 14:00

@rainbowgrimm well done!

I was feeling really hungry earlier but waited until 12 and now I'm kind of ok.
