Orm....lol....well...didn't get it...which isn't a major issue....would have been nice, the hours would have worked well, etc....but well....once dh is not in the army anymore, I hopefully can do more shifts in that residential care home for Kids, that I work with on Bank/relief basis....but who knows somethinglse, better might come up

speedymama · 03/07/2007 19:33

&%$^$ &$%*£+#@!!!......

Pulled a muscle in my calf last night

Serves me right for telling you lot I was really enjoying running.

Ar*e! I am sooo pissed off. I was running up a slight slope after stopping for some lights. Got a weird crampy feeling and then next step a really sharp pain.

Sorry about the job 3and.

speedymama · 04/07/2007 10:33

Ormrian,so sorry to read this. You must be so fustrated.

The same thing happened to DH. Running up a hill, felt calf muscle tighten and then ouch.He is not going to run for about a month now but will do things like press ups and sit ups as well as go for long walks.

Hope you feel better soon.

OrmIrian · 04/07/2007 10:37

Thanks for the sympathy speedy. It is frustrating. I was just thinking to myself as I was running along last night how far I'd come - 4 months ago I wouldn't have even got half the distance I can do now and been totally wiped out at the end.

I am having trouble walking atm . Am an object of pity and amusement in the office this morning

3andnomore · 04/07/2007 16:24

Orm, sorry about that pulled muscle....hope it won't hurt for long and that you can take your beloved running up again asap.

Haven't done anything today, and doubt I will now (although, you never know)....but tomorrow is another day

3andnomore · 05/07/2007 14:16

Well, I did Tae BO get ripped Basic workout today and one of the Hollywood ones (the legs, back biceps one)....!
How is everbody else getting on then? The thread is getting awfully quiet

speedymama · 05/07/2007 14:30

I noticed that 3anm. I would have thought that summer would motivate more of us in trying to hone our bodies to perfection

I was hoping to go the gym later today but chances are I won't be able to so hopefully I'll do some press ups and ab exercises tonight.

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 05/07/2007 14:43

Well some of have honed our bodies to a (temporary) standstill . My calf is totally honed at the moment....

But I do wonder where everyone is... perhaps there all out honing as we speak.

Anyway..what do you mean 'summer'?

3andnomore · 05/07/2007 15:03

yeah summer...what summer....

Marls001 · 05/07/2007 22:24

I asked one of the trainers at the gym today about a stretch and then introduced myself to her as I thought she didn't know who I was - she said "I know you! You like to come in here and kick butt, don't you?"

She showed me how to use the foam rollers to work out the soreness in my legs - lie on them facing sideways with the roller right at the hip and slooowly walk hands forward and the roller rolls down the legs - it's like a sports massage. V. painful but I did it today lying face down (for my quads) and I think it works. They're not as sore as before the workout.

Very very sore most places though; did light workout actually today, but ran yesterday (doing about 9 minute miles) and lifted weights hard the day before. (I have gained back some of my weight around the midsection so this week thought I'd pay closer attention and redouble my efforts!)

Marls001 · 05/07/2007 22:25

Orm - so sorry about your pulled muscle Hope it heals in a hurry.

3andnomore · 06/07/2007 13:57

lol Marls...

Well, I did Kate's Cardio Combat this morning. Did enjoy it more then I rememebr from teh first time I did it....not in line with tae bo...but what is, eh...

laloop · 06/07/2007 14:02

Hi everyone

Hope you're all well. Sounds like you've all been busy keeping fit and healthy!

I'm back after a rain-soaked week way out in the West of Ireland! Rained so much I'm surprised we didn't come home with webbed feet
The dcs enjoyed themselves anyway, climbing on the rocks with their fishing nets and going for walks on the beach (with our raincoats on of course!).

Only problem was that the bad weather meant no running, very little cycling and a bit too much time sitting in the pub eating scrummy food with a glass or two of wine. Still feel in holiday mode today so will get back into the healthy eating/exercise tomorrow. Anyway I'm far too scared to jump on my new scales as they are far too accurate, don't think I could take the shock!!

Sorry to hear about your calf muscle Orm, hope it's better soon.

3andnomore · 06/07/2007 14:05

lol laloop....jump on htem next week sometime and enjoy your holiday mood...it's a nice feeling, I think
Sorry abotu all that rain though....blinking weatehr, I wish it would be summer...I mena weatehr wise...
ooops, anyway, better off to work, lol...

speedymama · 06/07/2007 20:09

I did the Pump of Davina's 3x30 minute workouts this morning as that was all I have had time to do today. It is a great little workout though and I was sweating at the end. Planning to go for an early morning run tomorrow.

OP posts:
speedymama · 07/07/2007 10:40

Well, I went for a 5 mile run this morning and managed to knock 49 seconds off my previous time so I am delighted with that, particularly as I completed the run in 49 minutes and 14seconds. My legs are really aching now so I will keep doing some stretches throughout the day and hopefully I won't seize up.

Hope everyone has a good day!

OP posts:
laloop · 07/07/2007 20:39

5 miles, wow!! Speedy, well done You must be really pleased with your time too, very rewarding. Not long now until you'll be doing the 10k distances

I haven't done anything proper exercise today although I did spend a couple of hours doing the gardening this afternoon. Hoping to get out for a run or to the gym tomorrow, it feels so long since I've been out running so can't wait. Also thinking of getting a skipping rope and using that every morning to get a quick blast of cal burning in the mornings while dcs are at home - dd will probably join in with me

I might stick on a TaeBo or Davina DVD now before I slob out in front of the TV for the rest of the evening

3andnomore · 09/07/2007 07:51

Wow speedy...5 miles....
Laloop, did you ever get round to do a DVD then?
I didn't get to do anything on Saturday, however, I did Davinas Power of 3 yesterday and Tae BO advance get ripped workout this morning.
Off to work in a mo...not sure yet, if I will only work till 10.30pm or till tomorrow, yet....will see when I get there

speedymama · 09/07/2007 09:10

Good morning everybody. Yesterday I did the Pump it Up DVD followed by Belly Dancing sculpting for Abs. I now have a twinge in my lower back so I am not going to do any formal exercise until Wednesday other than go for walks at lunch time. My body needs a rest!

I'm still on a high with my 5 mile run and I could have run for longer so I will definitely be moving up ot 6 miles. I go on holiday to Torbay on Saturday so that will have to wait until I get back.

I am umming and ahhing about whether to take my running gear on holiday in order to do some early morning runs (no more than 2 miles). What do you think ladies?

OP posts:
laloop · 09/07/2007 11:47

Speedy, go girl! I would pack your running kit for your hols in case you want to get in an early morning run

I didn't do the DVD the other night in the end, flicked on the TV after I'd been online and watched rest of Live Earth concert instead, oops
Was anyone else watching? Madonna looked fantastic, she's in great shape

Didn't do anything yesterday either despite my plans for the gym! Think I've hit a post-holiday slump - just can't seem to motivate myself to diet or exercise properly at the moment
It's still freezing and wet over here for this time of year so that doesn't help! Last night I ate vast quantities of crusty bread, tapenade and cheese accompanied by some nice red wine. Trying to cheer myself up in the cold with some Med-style food

Orm, are you still doing low carb? Think I might do it again for a few days to get me back on track and then start into Slimming World mode again (when I'm doing it properly I normally follow Original days on the menu plans and they tend to be low carb/high protein). How are you getting on?

speedymama · 09/07/2007 13:38

I hope you find your motivation soon Laloop - it will come. I have just been for a 2 mile walk and feel really refreshed. I will definitely take my running kit because I know I will regret it if I don't.

I saw Live Earth from 7pm onwards. Madonna is in such fabulous shape. I also enjoyed the Pussycat Dolls. I thought they were a bunch of talentless airheads, just like most of the British girl bands but they can sing, dance and offer an intelligible opinion(lol). I loved the Foo Fighters also and thought that the Colette woman, the actress who sang in Australia, was very good too. She had a powerful voice.

hi everyone, I am new to mn, been reading throughout pregnancy dd now 5 month and finally decided to say hi!!
Looking for motivation to excersice. We turned our garage into a gym last year so have no excuse apart from finding time.Just been in for 50 min as the support on here i found inspiring (thanks)
speedymamma- what is the belly dancing for abs dvd like?

laloop · 09/07/2007 14:40

Hi no1putsbabyinthecorner, welcome to MN. Great to have another exerciser on board, the more the merrier

I have dug out my India Knight Idiot-Proof Diet book and I'm going to give it a try from tomorrow. Think it's the carb overload that's making me feel sluggish etc. Unfortunately I have been reading it with cup of tea in one hand and plateful of Jammy dodgers beside me...carb consumption is on a truly woeful scale at the moment chez Laloop. Gotta get back into it, girls, waahh!!!

speedymama · 09/07/2007 15:50

Hi No1putsbabyinthecorner! Love the name btw.

The Bellydance for Body Sculpting - Abs- I have mix feelings about it. It is definitely not for beginners. The explanations of the moves are sparse and there is this irritating man who keeps popping up to offer his words of wisdom using scientific jargon that would wind most people up. I'm a scientist and I keep telling him to shut up!(lol)

Also, there are 3 sections and they tend to pack in a lot of moves in each section and then string them together to create a dance. I would have liked fewer dance moves and more focus on perfecting the select few. I suppose you can always stop the DVD and practice the moves anyway so that is what I will do in future.

I have done bellydancing before so can cope with it but I would like to see far more instructions with the moves. I do like it because I love bellydancing so I'll try it a few more times to see if it will grow on me.

Definitely a great way of toning your hips and tummy but you have to know what you are doing.
