Lorns · 27/09/2007 15:44

fedda · 27/09/2007 16:01

Thank you, i actuaaly didn't dance yesterday in the end so I feel bad about myself. instead of dancing I was listening to the news and then it was too late.

3andnomore · 29/09/2007 12:45

Hi...how is it going for all of you?
Well...I am so rubbish...will start going earlier to bed again and hopefully will then find it easier again to get up early,etc...

Lorns....well...could you look at this
How useful a course would you consider that to be? It does sound very interesting, and am going to the Uni open day next week saturday, and I shall look into this course, and the Social Work and Occupational Therapy ones a bit closer...
who knows, maybe next year I will be a fulltime Uni student

fedda · 29/09/2007 23:44

Hi, 3andnomore, that's wonderful news youare going to study. I wish i had your energy. how are you today? I was out with DH and kids and we had a nice walk together. I did my dance for 20 minutes and this time i put on some yougurt on my face as it looks not so good, rather worn out. I try to follow my regime which is drawn from Joanna Hall. It;s tricky but I'm doing my best. had some juice today made from plums, apples, grapes and bluberries, I hope Jason Vale will forgive me as he doesn't suggest fruit juices with the meals. i wonder why.

3andnomore · 30/09/2007 10:24

Fedda...well...not sure if I will study at all...and not sure if it will be that course....but it's one of those interesting me
My motivation is, that I honestly can not face going back into Nursing, for many reasons, but I could not work forever in some sort of Support role...whilst I enjoy it, I want to really know what I am doing, etc...and well....we want to have a better life in the future... We shall see though...another thing that really interests me is to become a Antenatal Teacher with the NCT....but I suppose once I been at the Uni and know more about how it works, and what the courses are like, I will be able to make my mind up properly
No exercise, and doubt it will happen today...lol...
But well done you on walking etc...!
The Juice thing is....that they work even better if the stomach is sort of empty...and there is also some issue with the Juice sitting on top on food and the possibility that it then could stay to long in your stomach...or something like that....sorry, am really tired and can't think....been at work, from yesterday 2.30pm, and we didn't get into bed till past midnight, due to an absconding situation...and had to be up at 7 and at 8am had to drive 1 1/2 h back home (my own home now, lol)

Lorns · 30/09/2007 20:45

Hi 3andnomore had a look at the course and it seems that there could be a number of "avenues" you could go down. However, I would exaimine more closely what you want to do at the end of it. If it is a career in the health and fitness industry, this may include unsocialble hours.

OT sounds a good option as well. This option will probably offer more sociable hours and maybe o/time work....

Have you thought about specialising within nursing - i.e. a behavoural nurse or working with special needs (mental) such as aspergers or autism?

Look forward to hearing what you decide!

Lorns · 30/09/2007 20:46

hi 3andnomore - meant to say p/time not o/time

3andnomore · 30/09/2007 20:56

Lorns...Nursing..well...just thining of it makes me fell ill...I think it's due to being out of it for such a long time, and having done my training in germany, where it is completely diffrent and the status of a nurse and her job description is different, and also, due to the way the NHS is completely undermeploying, therefore nurses seem to burn out quickly and are not just expected to work unreasonable hous, but also unreasonable amounts of overtime....also, over here mental health nursing etc...is a complete different training...basically I would to have to return to nursing, and then have work experience and then maybe I could do a course changing over to a different branch of nursing...tbh...I probably could, in the same time, do my whole Nursing as full time course...but have a degree at the end, rather then the certificate you get in germany...

I am sure on that open day I will be able to clarify things more to myself...well...I am truely hoping that I will...

fedda · 30/09/2007 22:48

Good luck to you, 3andnomore, whatever you decide. I've made vegatable juice with celery, red pepper and added 1 apple, it was undrincable! i've never ever had anything more horrible in my life! And i love celery, pepper and apples. I felt so sorry I've wasted my lovely apple for this. I've enjoyed though apple and plum juice, that was really lovely. I think I'm going to stick with fruit juices. I wonder what's the best to drink with my meals. I simply can't drink before meals and then have everything dry and it looks strange to everyone as well. I've tried water with lemon but I'm not sure this is good. Winter is comming, I need some hot drinks and I can't stand unsweetened tea or coffee. What should I do?

3andnomore · 01/10/2007 12:42

the base juice (either apple, pineapple or carrot juice, or a combination of those) has to make up at least 1/2 of teh juice you are making if adding vegetables...I always was very careful with celery, as first I didn't evne like it, and it does have an extreme strong flavour to it, adding cucumber cna tone it down a bit...I love red pepper in juice, but again, it does depend on the combination...spinach is a fabulous thing juiced, because it has no flavour, it does make juice a funny colour though, and of cousrse there is lots of goodness in raw spinach

I actually just had a Smoothie, haven't had one in yonks...had juiced apple and pineapple, then blended the lot with 2 bananas, very sweet, but nice

no exercise as such, unless lugging around a shockablock shoppingtrolley counts (blinking overslept this morning )

laloop · 01/10/2007 13:10

Hi everyone

Was out walking yesterday for an hour or so. Going to try to get to gym this week for a few sessions too. Watched some of the coverage of the Great North Run yesterday, hoping it will inspire to get out running again.

3andnomore, how are you getting on with choosing the uni course? Noticed you are looking at SW training as a possibility (I'm a SW but on a career break!) so if you've any questions.... Would also suggest looking at OT, also physiotherapy or dietetics?

3andnomore · 01/10/2007 13:42

laloop....dietetics is something I wouldf be interested in, but the nearest Uni offering it is Coventry, and well, that is just a bit far out, really!
And Physio...I can't really find much about at all...i.e. which course, etc...

3andnomore · 01/10/2007 13:43

OH, and after I had a look at the course...I am sure I have some questions to you

fedda · 02/10/2007 21:57

How are you all doing? I'm still trying to skip but my rope is too hard so I'm using my DS's skipping rope which is much easier. I can do maxomum 20 in a very slow speed.

3andnogore · 03/10/2007 21:34

you are getting there then I have about 4 skippingropes...the ;ast one finally was one that is good to use....I find many are just to light and flimsy and go all over the place, lol!

I have done nothing, been feeling ill...and my joints are painful, etc....hohum...

sammac · 03/10/2007 21:39

Went to the launch of the new Body attack class and the new Body Balance class on Monday night, then back to Step last night. Felt that my legs were tired last night but still managed to get through it. i can now feel a real difference in my fitness levels and would go and do a class every night if I could( but dh would not be a happy bunny!) There's a new timetable out with the new classes, including salsa dancing. Am quite taken with the look of body pump. Was speaking to someone on Mon night and he said it's brilliant for your upper arms- will see if I can fit it in!

fedda · 03/10/2007 22:48

I hope you feel better now, 3andnogore. I didn't do anything apart from school runs and going up and down stairs. i've been trying to eat sensibly, it's boring but i have to or i'll loose quickly what little I could achieve.

Lorns · 04/10/2007 13:15

Hi sammac - I teach Body balance, body combat and Body pump!

Have previously trained in Body attack, but then got pregnant and couldn't teach for 9 months - by which point I'd lost my class and now there is nowhere to teach within the area I live. Well done for Body Attack - how are your calf muscles .

I gave laloop some info (see wednesday 19 Sept) re weight selection etc. as she was trying ut the class.

How did you find body balance?

Lorns · 04/10/2007 13:16

Well done fedda btw. Keep it up and hope you feel better soon 3andnomore. Hi also to laloop

fedda · 04/10/2007 21:18

Thank you, lorns.
