New threads ladies!

Hope you enjoyed the DVD, weezy

I got the exercise bike and skipping rope yesterday. Just have to build the bike now, probably a workout in itself, arrghh

Also have to figure out how to adjust the length on the skipping rope, it looks like it should be really easy to do but had both dh and I baffled yesterday lol.

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 10:47

Weezy....that is the beauty about Davinas DVD, you can just do it as you go along, no difficult steps, etc....I can't stand routines that I have to learn for ages and need a lot of co-ordination....
Laloop, oh you lucky thing with the exercise bike....but lol at the skipping rope...can't be that difficult, right, lol!

I am watching an exercise bike on E-bay right now...as it is pretty local to me, and if no one is bidding, lol, I could get it possibly very very cheap......just not sure where I would put it, lol...hm......will ask dh later, what he thinks...
Well, I did Davinas Power of 3 earlier and did the weeight section mostly with my new 3 Kg dumbells, but towards the end I had to use lighter ones, so, used the 1 1/2 Kg ones...which is still a bit more then my previous 2Ibs ones....bit disappointed with myself, for not managing it, but then....was probably to much to expect...!
Oh, and on my Exercise DVD obcession, lol....am also bidding on a Billy Bootcamp kit with Billie Bands...ooops...but it could work out a real bargain if I would get it, lol...can't have to many Billy DVD's, right....I am terrible, lol....tbh, I must sort thorugh my DVD's, because there are some there, that I doubt I will ever do again....because I have to many that I actually do enjoy to do...

laloop · 12/07/2007 10:52

Oooh, love your new Harry Potter-esque name, 3anm
3kg weights would be a struggle for me too, I normally use 1.5kgs for that workout!

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 10:59

laloop, so it isn't just me...I think it's because they do the reps quite fast, don't they....I think I rememebr now, from my Gym going younger days that I was told that when you do faster reps you use less weight and slow reps ou can use something heavier...I think the 3Kg ones will come in handy when I do the Hollywood workout or Kathy Smiths Upper body one...!
On my "new" name...Mrs Carrot or now Chambers of Carrot came up with it, and I thought it's quite cool

LOl, just realised that on teh Exercise DVD review thread I mentioned I can't afford to get any more DVD's right now...lol, and here I am getting myself the Isabella Workout for sure and possibly a fair amount of Tae BO Bootcamp ones...oooops....but well, with that I rouhgly know what I am getting I suppose....with that Cathe Friedrichs, as good as the DVD's look, I don't know what to expect, lol....and some of them seem to need eqipment I don't have, like a step....

speedymama · 12/07/2007 11:43

I've just done the The Ultimate Challenge DVD by Nell McAndrew. I really do enjoy that one but by the time I get to the press ups, my arms are really tired. So it is good to see that Nell struggles with that part too.

Well done on winning the DVD Malfoynomore. When I first saw your name I thought you were a new poster(lol). I have not read any Potter books or seen any of the films so if Laloop had not said, I would have been none the wiser.

Right, I'm off to vacuum the house before I go to work.

OP posts:
Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 13:31

well done you on doing the Ultimate challenge...and yes, my arms tend to be dead by the time it goes to the press ups...and I am rubbish at press ups anyway, lol!
I first didn't click on when I saw some namechangers and the connection, until I read about it in another thread, am not the greatest HP fan, and really don't like the books, but do like some of the movies.

laloop · 12/07/2007 17:53

Bike built!
Just have to start diet again now....

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 17:56

wohoo, cycle away

weezy292004 · 13/07/2007 00:44

hi all well i did the pump 30mins session and as i said before i am a complete novice so was expecting to ache a bit but omg my legs are killing..davina is now a new swear word in this house lol.
Moaning aside it was a good workout and i liked the fact it wasn't too chatty and they just got on with it.
laloop goodluck with the exercise bike i had one years ago and used it as a clothes horse..me thinks thats not what it was supposed to be used for.

laloop · 13/07/2007 10:30

Ouch weezy! Wait till you try the legs section in the Power of 3, still gets me every time

Hung a coat on my exercise bike last night to get an idea of what it will look like in a few weeks

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 12:56

weezy well done you, and glad you liked the workout, I do liek the Pump workout and the core one on that Dvd, not so keen on the cardiobox, tbh...but well, 2 out of 3 is brill....the power of 3 was the one that got my legs at first, but I think I got quite used to it now, between all the DVD's I do, lol....for legs Nell is more straining especially in the Ultimate challenge, I so far have never been able to hold all the Squats...but one day I will.

I have been lazy today ,was tired this morning and didn't get up until 6pm and that is just to late in the mornings for me to get anything done, especially as es had to be much earlier out of the house then usual (2. Induction day at his secondary school, earlier start and longer walk)and then there was all the exitement about the new Kitten in the house...our dog is still not sure about the new addition and I have to keep such a close eye, and the lil ones hadn't seen the little guy until this morning, as I brought him home last night, etc...might do soemthing, at least 30 minutes Tae Bo later. Will try....or I do an 8minute Tae Bo workout and some weight training I should, i really should, one of dh TA soldiers works at blinking masterfood, and gave dh a fair lot of chocolate and I had 6 Mars delights (ooops...didn't really notice it was that many)...!

laloop · 13/07/2007 13:03

Awww...new kitten

Not much exercise being done here either! We're heading off for the weekend shortly, catch up with you all on Monday.

Have a great weekend everyone x

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 13:04

Have a lovely time

laloop · 13/07/2007 13:14

BTW malfoynomore, I just bought Jason Vale's Slim 4 Life off Amazon - just wondering if you have this book (know you like his juicemaster ones! Is it any good?)

I really should get off this pc and pack for the caravan, lol ... MN is just too addictive

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 13:28

lol, yup mn is addictive!
And yes, I have Slim4Life and I think it's really the only book you need, although the 7Ibs in 7days one and the Turbocharge are great...but if you only buy one book than Slim4life is the one
OH, and caravan sounds great...we would love to have a caravan...well, one day...we just bought a new tent though, a 9 peaople one wiht 3 bedrooms...so, that will be good over the summer, if the weatehr stays within reason

laloop · 13/07/2007 13:41

Thanks 3anm! Looking forward to reading his book, need something inspirational to get me back into it all again

We just got the caravan this year after realising that holidays/flights for a family of 5 (now that ds2 pays full seat fare too) are just way too expensive! So we got the static caravan - it's a ten year old 2-bedder and a bit cramped with the 5 of us but the dcs love it . Camping is great fun too We're hoping to get a few days away with our tent over the summer too.

weezy292004 · 14/07/2007 13:00

owww still really hurts thankgod i live in a flat as going up/down the stairs at work was like torture yesterday..then to top it off sprayed deep freeze spray on legs and had some on my hand then like an idiot rubed my eyesso then couldn't see or open eyes properly for 30mins lol.ok now though and instead of davina today will be going for a walk with dp,in the hope my legs will ease up then do davina on sunday.

laloop hope you had a nice weekend and the weather was kind to you.lol at the coat on exercise bike.

malfoynomore how cute a little kitty.has it settled in now and whats his/her name.i'd love one but being in a flat and working 55+hours a week it's out of the question.

laloop · 17/07/2007 08:55

Weezy, hope the legs are feeling better now, you must have really worked it, go girl!

How's the kitten, 3anm? I've ordered Harvey's Fit Club DVD to add to my collection - I read your review on the other thread and wanted a no-nonsense basic workout so that seemed to fit the bill!

Starting the India Knight low-carb diet today to combat my snackaholic tendencies. Weighed myself and BMI is back up at upper level of healthy range, want it to be back down to midway again. Today's exercise will be TaeBo - I'm going to give the 8 minute set another blast, try to master the moves a bit better
If it stays dry, I'll do 10 or 15 minutes skipping too when I'm out in garden with dc's.

3anm, which DVD workout do you reckon is the best for fat-burning? My motivation is back (yayyy!!!) - going to really go for it in the next few weeks and try to blast away these few lbs once and for all. Can't get out running much at the moment now that dc's off school so need to workout at home instead.

Malfoynomore · 18/07/2007 12:38

Hi All, not been online the past few days...what with working a few shifts and all what goes on with schools at the end of the schoolyear.
The Kitten has settled in lovely, the Dog is getting used to it, but is a bit freaked out by him, lol....well, I suppose he came a bit close a few times and got a taster of the sharp little claws...lol!
We called the Kitten Shinobi (which is another word for Ninja, and our dog is called ninja...so, we thought it goes nicely together, lol).
Well, on Saturday I did Beverly Callards...but don't think I should be doing it for the fat burning bit, lol...as after the aerobics part my heartraised wasn't really raised, and isn't it that your heartrate has to be raised to a certain level to be effective in fatburning?
Sunday I never got round to do anything and on Monday I did Nell McAndrews maximum impact , Tuesday nothing, and this morning I did Vicky's Wow weightoff workout ( I think I shall from now on just type Vicky's WWW, lol)...
Went to WW yesterday and stayed the same, desspite having a fair bit of chocolate, etc...so,w as happy enough wiht that.

Laloop, I think Nell McAndrews workouts mihgt be the best for fatburning as they have got that long (40min) interval section. But I mihgt be wrong of course...oh and Tae Bo is obviously fabulous for fatburning
Weezy hope the hurting has faded away.
How is everyone else doing?

OrmIrian · 18/07/2007 12:57

Hello everyone!

Not running yet. I had to dash after DS#2 in the supermarket on Friday and it hurt. So leaving it until this weekend and see how it is.

Can someone advise me please. I'm doing some yoga and some crunches for my over-relaxed tummy muscles but I'm getting fed up with my upper arms and shoulders. I have big arms and I really hate them. I'm not overweight and most of me is reasonably slim so why do I have such big arms? I have tried all kinds of excerise in the past in the gym but nothing seemed to really help. Any ideas please?

Malfoynomore · 18/07/2007 13:03

Orm I think resistence/weight training is pretty much the only thing you can do to shape your arms...
Sorry you are still hurting though...hope that by the weekend you feel up to do your running again

Malfoynomore · 19/07/2007 22:10

Didn't do a DVD today, however I did walk about 5 or 6 miles (to the shop and back) pushing a heavy Buggy (as both the lil ones had been in NUrsery the lil one wanted to sit down and my ms was standing on the back and then all that shopping stuff...so, pretty good weight I had to ppush, lol, and of course I was able to walk at a good tempo
My new DVD arrived, the Isabellas Power workout, will do it tomorrow, well, that is the plan anyway
How is the rest of you doing?
It's weird, btw...I am actually looking forward to the summerholidays....lol....but the Kids have been so much better recently, they really are growing up a bit, eh!

Malfoynomore · 20/07/2007 17:40

I am talking to myself here...where are you all?
Well, just did Isabella's Power workout and am very pleased....it's a good workout that pushes you hard enough, a good mixture of core moves aswell, excellent stretching section at the end. Could maybe have more Cardio in it, but all in all an hour well spend.
It's another one of those that you don't need much space for and you don't need any equipment at all. It has a fair lot of squats and lunges , but all those really careful ones, so, no risk of hurting yourself.
The instructor explained well, aswell...and Isabella hardly talks.
The music is a bit of an odd choice, lol...not offensive or annoying just well, different...kind of like Nell's Urban tracks a bit better, lol!
All in all a great toning workout And definately ranks for me up with Davina and Nell and Tae Bo and Vicky nowadays, lol...

I really hope that the weatehr will improve at least for parts of the holiday, the rain is a wee bit depressing.

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 11:09

Huhu...anyone there....
yesterday I did Nell's Peak Energy workout and am trying to decide which one to do today, lol....

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 14:53

Oh people come on...where are you all.....

Anyways, I have just done Tae Bo Everybody get ripped advance workout and then the 10 minute streching section from Isabella's Power workout....am karnackered now, lol!
Maybe I should have done Davina instead, lol....as Billy killed me today....but I was NOT gonna give up...I mean, o.k. every now and again I walked it out, but I was not gonna cut it short...oh no....I am stubborn like that, lol...
