Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me - not overweight but would like to lose a few pounds?
I am 5’ 3” and weigh 9stone. I look ok, but def have lots of wobbly bits despite running and a couple of hiit sessions a week.
Would love to get to 8st 7lb, but my love of wine and salty snacks does not help! Eat mostly healthily apart from this.
Have been using happyscale to weigh every day, managed to get to 8st 11.5lb earlier in the month but now back to where I started 🙄.
Any tips from anyone? First world problem I know!
X

I'm now down to 8st 10lb, stayed the same this week but its TOTM so I know I'm retaining water. Just over 3 weeks to my holiday and 3lbs to go, hoping I can do it!

I measured a couple of weeks ago and had lost 5cms off my waist, even though the scales hadn't changed. I've been running 3 x week and can see small differences in my arms as well.

Just wish the boobs hadn't totally gone, think I've lost a cup size and there wasn't much to start with!

Westwing1 · 04/08/2018 13:28

Spaghetti Vongole my favourite pasta dish, always makes me think of St Mawes. I don't think I have had pasta this year, just looking at it makes me gain. Diet going pretty well but I haven't lost or have lost 1 lb at best, period came 2 weeks early (menopause). Unfortunately I have to be super strict with no wobbles to lose at this point. Burning don't let me hold you back!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/08/2018 15:35

I am going on holiday with the in-laws in 5 weeks.
That is my motivation at the moment as my mil will scrutinise every inch of me Hmm

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/08/2018 15:37

Westwing, no pasta this year? Good grief, major kudos to you, I couldn't do that.
I'm limiting mine to once a week and that's a challenge, I bloody love it.

Winealot · 04/08/2018 18:28

Still floating around the 8st 12 mark - loss has been hampered by just too much socialising, wine in the garden, lack of running due to heat and kids being off etc!
Feeling ok though and am pleased that I have managed to at least maintain. We go away in 10 days for 2 weeks but self catering so hopefully not too much damage and will be happy to eat lots of fish and salad.
Some great losses on here, well done to everyone. X

Am a little late to the party but may I join? 5 ft 7, 57 kilos but untoned and a bit flabby and could do with the motivation to eat more healthily.

I eat a lot of fruit, veg, fish and wholegrains but also love cheese, chocolate and wine... oh, and fried food.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 05/08/2018 08:50

Surely all you need at that height and weight is a bit of toning yoga/weights?
I feel like a right heifer Grin

Westwing1 · 05/08/2018 11:10

Hi Gah81, you are v welcome, I agree with Ihopeyourcakeisshit, your weight and height sound great. Of course that doesn't mean you shouldn't cut out the fried food or whatever. When I reach your sort of bmi I intend to try weights (I am 51 so weights supposed to be the way to go for me) and possibly yoga. Is there an exercise/sport you fancy trying? I weighed and have lost 1 1/4 lbs this week. 7 more to go, I have a busy week ahead and am determined to be strict and have a better weigh in next week.

Hamiltoes · 05/08/2018 15:28

Mind if I join? Our holiday is on the 27th of Sept, Orlando so a lot of walking and skin on show- and I'm determined not to wobble! I'm 5'4 and when I started on 18th of July I was 9st1. I've got that down to 8st12 (due a weigh in tomorrow).

I've mainly just been trying to watch what I eat, make sure I get 5 miles walking / 10k steps and I've burned 2k cals according to fitbit, I'd say I eat 1200-1400 a day and I'm doing the 8:16 fasting.

Wondering if I should try cutting carbs now for the final push.. I think my goal is around 8st but I've never been that small before, I'm hoping to lose from boobs but keep bum and legs, as I'm a lollypop with a mum-tum and my boobs make me look 3 x bigger than what I actually am Blush.

Gah81 · 05/08/2018 17:42

Thanks Ihopeyourcake and Westwing. I have recently taken up Pilates again as I do a lot of walking but it doesn’t seem to tone me up. Perhaps I should look into weights too - I do have some dumbbells at home.

I put my weight on my upper arms and thighs. And under my chin (thanks, dad, for passing that gene on! Grin). Would love to lose it under the chin and just be a little less flabby... and if anyone has any exercises that work for getting rid of cellulite, please let me know!

burninglikefire · 07/08/2018 08:08

Morning everyone! I am down a whole pound to 9 stone 7lbs. Slow progress (it is so much harder to lose weight when you are the wrong side of 50 Sad) - but I guess at this rate I might be down to 9 stone by the start of October, which I would be happy with.

So far the strategy of not eating rubbish and upping the exercise a little seems to be working.

How is it going for you Westwing?

Westwing1 · 07/08/2018 09:22

Hi Burning, just weighed, 9 st 8 lbs, a tad disappointed felt I had lost more than that, same scenario here, 51, very slow progress.

I am determined to get to 9 st by the end of the month. No alcohol for me (started yesterday) as I just can't afford the calories and the 10 pm nibbles that sometimes go along with it. If it cools down a lot I will do some exercise too. I am back food diarying, not necessarily calorie counting, just keeping track.

Well done on your pound loss, hope your morale is high. I was 10st 12 lbs on 1st Jan Shock (11st was my heaviest during pregnancies) but these last few pounds are very slow. I do need to lose it, lots of fat around tummy especially. Have a good week.

Winealot · 07/08/2018 11:49

Weighed in this morning as some of my clothes were feeling slightly looser.....8st 10lb!! Lightest I’ve been since my early 20’s, post 45 now.
Go away next week so no doubt will be back to 9 after a fortnight away!
Still don’t feel thin enough though, don’t think I will ever be content!
And also don’t feel like I deserve to be this light as I really haven’t been trying that hard....x

Well done Winealot! I would love to be that weight.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/08/2018 09:25

Weigh in day for me.
I'm 5lbs down over all in 4 weeks, which isn't bad as the last week has been a bit relaxed and I've done naff all exercise.
My new friend has been Baxters spicy lentil dahl soup at lunch times. High protein and 3 of your 5 a day.

Westwing1 · 11/08/2018 11:07

Well done Ihopeyourcakeisshit. How much more do you want to lose? I will weigh in tomorrow.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/08/2018 12:29

I will aim for 9 I think and take it from there.
I've been lighter when much younger, but I think I must have been too skinny, but didn't really register.
I've been lucky to get to 50 without ever giving a thought to what I ate.
However too thin at 50 is not a good look and i want to keep what's left of my boobs, whilst getting my flat stomach back.

Westwing1 · 11/08/2018 12:45

Similar story here, age 51, like you when I reach 9 st I will reassess. I am 5 ft 5 (seem to have shrunk from 5ft 6 Shock), so there could be another few pounds to lose. I would like to get my waist down to 30". Loving being in smaller bras though hated my huge ones.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/08/2018 12:50

I'm peri menopausal too, I'm sure that doesn't help.
Biggest difference has been cutting out wine, I feel a shed load better.I don't think it mixes well with changing hormones.
I have 2 glasses on Saturday and that's it.
I keep meaning to measure myself and then forgetHmm

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/08/2018 12:52

Do you mind me asking what you're like on the cellulite front?
It's not good hereConfused

Mmmmdanone · 11/08/2018 13:00

I'll join in. 5'3" and 9.5ish stone. I was under 8 at one point but never will be again! 8.5 would be great.

Westwing1 · 11/08/2018 13:09

Don't mind at all. I have shocking eye sight (sexy varifocals or contacts backed up with reading glasses), but as far as I can see cellulite not really an issue for me. I do however have PCOS and my hair in odd places is off the charts. I am really excited to be working on being properly slim again but other than that I really don't fret about bikini body and so on. Don't compare myself to 30 year olds but am fascinated by the differences in mobility in older people, some 75 year olds so alert, trim and on it and others in a desperate state on mobility scooters. This is a bit off the point but I guess if I had lots of cellulite (which I might actually have but never noticed) I don't think it would bother me. I am on day 6 without alcohol and I think like you say this is key to losing weight.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/08/2018 13:18

Haha yes, I have graduated to reading glasses with my contacts. I can recommend a Philips lumea for the hair (present from my dh) best thing he's ever bought me.
I know what you mean about mobility, I have found my joint pain has improved since I dropped the booze. Hoping the cellulite improves if I exercise regularly.
hello mmmmdanone Smile
