Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

It’s gets worse, according to the size chart I would be XS in the fleece!?!

I think my work’s really f-ed this up!

ScaredPAD · 14/06/2018 12:44

Glad your dd is doing ok nickname. You definitely deserve to ease up on yourself a bit x

honeysucklejasmine · 14/06/2018 13:43

Fezzes that whole sizing thing sounds bonkers!

AnotherOtter I don't know (when you're fed up) but I'm also not feeling it today. I'm getting a bit bored of salad for lunch. I think I'm using too many calories at breakfast... But then I've got 570 left today after breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I'm not... But I just need more creative ways of using them I think. Essentially I have a really low calorie lunch, normal dinner (about 600) and then blow the rest on toast. It's not ideal. I need to use them more sensibly.

Without any extras for breastfeeding (which I want to make sure I can cope without) I have just over 1400. So dinners seem to be 500-600, leaving 400-450 for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was 309 and lunch was 377... I really need to eat more I think... Argh!

honeysucklejasmine · 14/06/2018 13:49

Right. So right now, let's say I need to split the extra 300 calories from breastfeeding across the three dinners. So I'm now aiming for 500-550 for breakfast, 500-550 for lunch, and 600-700 for dinner. Ok.

I need to go to Aldi and stock up on things I can actually eat. They have a great range of free from stuff.

Summersnake · 14/06/2018 14:22

Puppydogmummy.thanks that's kind of you ..I should be proud of being vegan.but my weight makes me hide it...my dh for my bd got a teeshirt saying proud vegan...I said how can I possibly wear that ,how am I a good advert for being vegan...my weight ruins so much of my life..I've worked out I need to loose a third of my weight to be in the normal range...that's a hell of a lot ,and feels like a huge mountain to climb..I've looked on a my fitness site and I should be eating 1500 calories a day to loose 2 lbs a week..buts that's going to take forever ,and it's hard to get started...but started I must x

Summersnake · 14/06/2018 14:24

Also puppydogmummy ...can I ask you about slimming world ,like what I could eat? I like bread and vegan cheese,olives,crisps....I suppose I can't eat those on slimming world???

Summersnake · 14/06/2018 14:30

Talking about uniforms..my daughters work uniform is a size 18 ,she is a standard size 12 in all her new look clothes..... that's crazy

nicknamehelp · 14/06/2018 15:32

We are home x rl "friends" have yet to even send me a msg of any sort.

My dm commented that I had lost weight and pointed out yet again I really need to loose weight. She means well but isn't v subtle/helpful.

honeysucklejasmine · 14/06/2018 17:28

Glad you're all home nickname! That's odd of your mum... Does she think it'll fall off overnight, if only you tried? You are losing weight, why does she tell you you need to?

Summer on SW bread is restricted, as is dairy cheese (not sure on vegan alternatives), and crisps and olives are both syn foods, and pretty high too. You should have a look at the old "green" plan, which is vegetarian. The current plan does assume you eat meat so restricts other things to allow for that, imo.

B1rdonawire · 14/06/2018 17:36

@Summersnake you can eat bread and cheese on slimming world but it's a controlled portion per day. You can have olives but would need to account for them within the "syn" daily allowance if they're in oil, the ones in brine might be unrestricted, I'd need to check. Crisps are high in syns, depending on the type. Example: hula hoops puft = 3.5 syns per small bag. Daily allowance: 15 syns if under 16 stone, 20 if above.
Unrestricted: rice, pasta, potatoes, most fruit and veg (except avocado), fat free yoghurt or fromage frais, pulses, chickpeas, etc. Does that help?

So glad you and DD are home Nickname - hope you get a bit of peace now!

AnotherOtter I'll bear that in mind! Stretches you recommended are already helping, thank you so much. When I get a bit fed up with dieting I allow myself to have a sulk about it, even a moan to someone else, but then try and do something nice for myself (new book, coffee out, long bath, etc). Doesn't always work, sometimes I'm still fed up Grin

Honeysuckle did you get anything yummy?

honeysucklejasmine · 14/06/2018 17:53

Ended up at Morrisons in the end, B1rd. DH had some whisky requests which required Morrisons. I got some root veg crisps (cheapest around, £1 for 150g I think, Tesco is £1.25) and some BBQ rolled tortilla crisps. They were yummy, reminded me of wheat crunchiest! Can't usually get flavoured crisps within allergy guidelines so that's exciting.

nicknamehelp · 14/06/2018 18:04

My dm is a weird one 5 years ago she was over weight and claimed whilst really over eating she was too old to loose weight. Then my df got diagnosed with a heart prob so she put him on a diet and as a result she lost weight and all of a sudden kept commenting on my weight and how it's not healthy- all I know but mentally life has been tough and food was my safety blanket. I don't smoke, do drugs and hardly drink and I've always (until last year and I had heath issues not weight related) been fairly active so felt that yes in an ideal world I would of her lighter but I just haven't been in the right place mentaly till recently.

ScaredPAD · 14/06/2018 22:01

My dad doesn't acknowledge any of my health (mental or physical) issues and is probably partly the root of my eating issues . I have to just not engage if he brings weight up. Now I'm beginning to lose thwy be said it's good I'm "finally doing something" about it and that maybe the health problem I might have is good as it's scared me on to doing something :( They don't see how hard I was trying and struggling.

nicknamehelp · 15/06/2018 09:01

Scared totally agree with you.

Back on it today and going to try to get to gym tomorrow if dh isn't working.

moonlight1705 · 15/06/2018 14:45

Yet another thread going on in the realms of MN saying how disgusting we all are for being obese......it gets somewhat depressing doesn't it! Sad

Well sod them and their attitude, I am going to keep going despite everything and eventually will be the healthy me that I've always wanted to be.

nicknamehelp · 15/06/2018 15:19

Oh to be perfect!

ScaredPAD · 15/06/2018 15:30

Ive had a day thinking my huge stomach is awful/so far to go/ ehat if my weight loss plateaus at 16stone and like you have to counter it with - well i have to try to be the healthiest I can be. And all these changes will be making some differences and more than if I wasn't doing them...

I hadn't seen that thread yet but that (and the weight loss isn't successful ones) can send me into a really negative spiral.

I have to remind myself that at this level of obesity I can't quick fix in a few months and it has to be long term. It makes me sad when people judge or assume I eat badly or don't exercise when I do and have been for months!

moonlight1705 · 15/06/2018 15:34

Exactly Scared - I suppose we all put this weight on over years and it make take years to get it off but at least we are trying. Its a reminder not to click onto those links again.

When I told my skinny DSis what I ate, she couldn't believe that I was obese on the types of food that I have - my main problem is portion control. I can see why people don't believe I can exercise but I do and will keep doing so!

B1rdonawire · 15/06/2018 16:59

OK deep breath here goes - I will ask HQ to take this down again in a while (if you spot anything identifiable in the pic please tell me quick!!) This is 12 months of work so far, 4 stone 4 off, currently at 14.11

Apparently I always wear the same colours as the two outfits are in fact different, but, er, the same shades of blue/black.

Be kind, I know there is plenty of work yet to do, but I'm trying to pause and mark the first year...

notanurse2017 · 15/06/2018 17:04

Blooming Marco B1rd. You look strong and healthy in the recent photos. Well done😀
