Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

B1rdonawire, you look fantastic! You can really see what a difference a year has made

(Don’t worry I can’t see anything identifying in your photos)

Wantacurry · 15/06/2018 18:06

Wow, B1rd you look great Flowers

I really hope to get into the 14 stones by Christmas (if I stick with everything) and if I look half as good as you, I will be very pleased.

B1rdonawire · 15/06/2018 18:52

You're all lovely Flowers I've asked HQ if they'll take the pic down now, but imagine they're quite busy so it might be a while. I love the people on this thread and how everyone builds each other up, no putting anyone down. Big thank yous.

applesandpears33 · 15/06/2018 19:43

B1rd - you have made fabulous progress. You should feel very proud.

Callmesausage · 15/06/2018 20:06

B1rd, that’s fantastic, you look great.

Nickname glad your daughter’s op went well.

Hope everybody else got through their day ok and looking forward to the weekend.

honeysucklejasmine · 15/06/2018 23:22

AHH damn, missed them. But sounds like you're looking great B1rd so have a snog from me. (Btw, did you ever watch Bluestone 42 on BBC? A character in that was called Bird and she was kickass. I think of her whenever I read your posts!)

I took the toddlebeast out for a walk today. She gave up after 20 minutes so I swapped single pushchair for the double, plonked her in and kept walking for 40 minutes. I am actually shocked. Not only did I take her on a walk, I kept going after she was bored. I've exacerbated an injury but oh well Tbh a big incentive was earning a few extra calories for some toast and peanut butter! 😂

Weigh in time again

Start 278

Last week 212
Week 16 Exercise Week 12 Calorie counting
This week 210

Week loss -2
Total loss -67

Goal 136
Left to lose 75
Start 142

Yay, pleased with 2 pounds especially as I’m bloated from Af. Bang on 15 stone so hopefully getting into a new bracket soon. Feeling stupidly excited as 15st was the weight that I convinced myself that I could have lost weight from and 19+ it would never happen. But somehow I’m here.

Just got to do it all over again now! KOKO

beepbeep321 · 16/06/2018 08:03

Hi all, can I join you.
I'm at my heaviest I've ever been with 7 st I realistically need to lose.
I'm at the point where enough enough...but it's hard getting started.
I've cut back on the morning hot chocolates from costa and the evening treks to the shop for chocolate (a definitive chocoholic here!)
I've got 2 young kids and I want them to have a childhood where I can play and run with them!
I need to do it for my health...I had cancer in my early 30s and I I piled it on after that. I'm now nearly 40 and I've just kept getting heavier and bigger :(

honeysucklejasmine · 16/06/2018 08:18

Hi beep, welcome! Sounds like you've already made the first steps - cutting down on the hot chocolate will certainly help. Perhaps start planning what you'll spend the hot chocolate money on instead? Prevent you feeling too hard done by in a few weeks time when you start missing it. Have you thought at all about how you're going to tackle this? We've a real variety of methods on here so plenty of experience to help you.

Fezzes huge well done! You're doing so well!

Had a sneaky preview this morning... Was not encouraging. I'm feeling fat this week. I know I'm much thinner than I was, but still feel I've so far to go. I'm 4lbs away from 4 stone. But I think because I started way back before DS was even conceived, I've forgotten how big I was. Going to go do one of those model my diet avatar thingies to prove it to myself.

notanurse2017 · 16/06/2018 08:23

Week: 77
Weight lost: 1 ib
Overall weight loss: 84 ibs (6 stone)
To go: umm not sure, another 36 lbs, probably more, but we will see how it goes

First weigh in for a while for me. Mumsnet can’t get back all the posts deleted by mistake so I have lost my record. Also not sure if it is 77 or 76 weeks which in the grand scheme of things really doesn’t matter. Really pleased I have gone to the 6 stone loss, it seems significant.

Starting to get very worried about my operation in 2 weeks time. I am walking more than usual to try and be as fit as possible. I suppose my biggest worry is that I won’t be able to walk for a while and I will put weight on. It is keyhole surgery for the gallstones but also surgery to repair my hernia.

honeysucklejasmine · 16/06/2018 08:24

Start to now and now to goal.

honeysucklejasmine · 16/06/2018 08:27

notanurse your weight may well go up because of retained fluid etc after surgery, but it should be temporary. If it helps, I've not started to exercise yet, it's all diet, so there's no reason you can't continue to lose weight whilst you are recovering.

B1rdonawire · 16/06/2018 08:29

Well done Fezzes!

Welcome Beep sounds like some very practical first steps there. Chocolate is my thing too, so I allow for a small amount of it most days - I have to measure it though as I am always way too optimistic if I guess!

Honeysuckle sorry you missed it, I could only hold my nerve for so long. Just imagine before: sphere; now: Cindy Crawford in a plump suit Grin Wink Excellent work on the walking, how is your injury this morning? Are you measuring yourself as well as weighing - sometimes I find that helps on the feeling-fat-for-no-reason days?

B1rdonawire · 16/06/2018 08:32

Wow congrats on six stone notanurse I've had the gall bladder removal and it was a long one due to complications. I'd say I felt well fairly quickly afterwards, so much so that I hadn't realised how draggy I must have been feeling from the problem gall bladder. Obviously follow the advice they give you, but hopefully your energy will return fairly soon afterwards Flowers

You look great in those Honeysuckle!

beepbeep321 · 16/06/2018 08:37

Thanks for the welcome :)
The money I would have been spending is going into my savings account to give us spends for the summer hols.

I just find that I have a real lack of control. I find it really hard to stick to anything. I can do well for a week , or set targets and meal plans for a week ... but can't stick to anything. Tho I have stuck to the no costa in the morn. So that's good. I've gone from 3 or 4 a week to 1 a week max. I am making myself take a different route to work so I don't drive past it.Grin

fattonotsofat · 16/06/2018 08:42

Can a newbie join?

notanurse2017 · 16/06/2018 08:48

Trying to catch up - this thread is so busy.

Nickname - really pleased that you and dd are back at home.

Honeysuckle - you have created a whole small person since you joined these threads so losing close to 4 stone is an even more fab achievement!

Fezzes - well done to saying goodbye to a Boris and Bertha forever! Have you solved the uniform issue (this is the type of thing I would agonize over for ages)?

I think I am going to do the avatar. I bought some pajamas from Primark yesterday for my hospital stay and they are just huge on and I honestly don’t have a realistic idea of what I look like and what size I am now. It is very odd.

ScaredPAD - it’s absolutely true what you have written. I may always be in the overweight category. But if I can be in it eating healthily and regularly exercising then that has got to be better than what I started with being wel within the morbidly obese range.

Summersnake - how are things going?

AnotherOtter - I’ve had a few strange encounters with people who have commented on my weight loss - as well as lots of positive feedback from people. But it has taken a while to get used to it. And to be fair I think I takes a while for other people to get used to it too. One of my lovely friends whom I have see 3 times in 6 months insisted last week I had lost loads more weight since he last saw me and I haven’t - but I know that actually when he looks at me he still expects to see the old, very, very fat me.

Apologies to those I haven’t mentioned by name - I need to start posting on here more regularly again!

notanurse2017 · 16/06/2018 08:57

This might not work. Have scribbled out my weight!

Whoops - me in January 2017 on left and me now on right.

moonlight1705 · 16/06/2018 09:46

Loss this week. 0.5lb Grin
Total loss: 11lb (again)

Pretty happy with a small loss this week. Until I go to see a midwife then I'm unsure as to what to eat or how far should I go.

Well done all on the losses B1rd I love the photos, you look amazing!

Will catch up later with everyone's posts.

DottyDotAgain · 16/06/2018 10:43

Eugh. I've been away with work for a couple of days which is always the worst thing for me and eating... too much gin and then the hotel provided gluten-free cheesecake so I had two (amazing!) slices..! Sigh. Am trying to get back on track from this morning - have drank lots of water and am aiming to eat tons of fruit, have eggs for lunch and some ham - no carbs today!

fezzesarecool · 16/06/2018 10:51

I ordered a size 16-18 Top as if it doesn’t fit in July then it will soon enough. Asda 18 tips fit me a bit clingy by the waist so if it’s like that then I’ll be fine and if it’s tight they will have to sort it. I really can’t wear the larger sizes anymore or dress in baggy clothes as I need to be more confident with my body shape. It’s still on my my nd but I got a bit pissed off thinking about it so just ordered! Lol

I’ve tried out the vibration plate yesterday and would highly recommend. After I used it I went home and did my normal workout and it really was hard to get through, my muscles felt like I had already been working out. Even today my muscles feel aching. So I think with exercise the vibration plate gets a yes from me as a boost.

ScaredPAD · 16/06/2018 11:15

Oops i feel so silly. I posted on the swimming thread (mainly fit swimmers) thinking it was this thread as they were talking about trackers:(

Anyway relevant bit here -

I think my blood pressure is highish so I'm going to track that at the free doctors machjne with the hope that exercise and food will bring that down which hopefully will be another set of figures to watch go down and objectively say my health is improving.

Until I can afford/decide on a tracker though last night I set hourly vibrating alarms on my phone so I do at least get a reminder to move. I read somewhere at least 100 steps in every hour. At least 4000 steps a day even on a rest day and aiming for at 7500 plus most of the time.

I didn't see the pics b1rd but well done and i hope I have a similar story in a year.

Honey Yay for the walk! Well done!
Fezze wow you have lost so much in 16 weeks!!! I'm 8 weeks in but losing about 1.5 a week so far. I'm so impressed at your weight loss (and a bit envious ;) )

nicknamehelp · 16/06/2018 11:24

Sts this week but not surprising.

Welcome beep.

Going to go easy on myself till Mon then crack on fully- still feel v tired and emotional from the week.

ScaredPAD · 16/06/2018 11:25

I'm still catching up!

Welcome beepbeep I'm only 8ish weeks in and found this thread so helpful and supportive. I love seeing posts from those who have managed to lose.

Good luck with the operation notanurse. And 6 stone!!! That's incredible. I expect you will be bloated and retain fluid etc but that isn't true weight gain. Go easy on yourself while you recover.

Wow notanurse and honey those computer pics look ace. I have managed 8/9 weeks I have hope if I can do a year i can be the same!

I am scared silly about health issues at the moment and trying to be more active. I wish I could reverse effects of obesity overnight!
