Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

I'm not joining the gym because of my size, it is a treat for achieving a target. I have a list of treats for targets all the way down through the 100lbs Grin
I will never be joining in running, sadly. I am naturally very big busted and combined with arthritis (had it since childhood) it will never be my thing.

POD - Date night and DH plumped for pizza express. Nothing was suitable to eat but I got a nicoise salad, ditched the dough balls onto DH's plate, didn't use the dressing and stopped eating when I was full. The POD was that rather than feeling deprived and diet stricken, I flipping loved every mouthful and felt I had a treat. Spent my Syns on a large glass of wine instead - hic! Wine

Does anyone else use this? Left is my starting weight in January and right is my current weight.... I find (although it is not perfectly accurate) it helps me to visualise my loss so far.

And funny although I gone down dress sizes I can’t see the difference too much in myself but looking at this has really helped me appreciate where I’m at right now

ScaredPAD · 13/06/2018 06:38

I had a play with it and I liked the final results... but it looked to me like I have to lose 3 stone to make any noticeable difference! I put in some of my target goals though and even the overweight/obese border looked fab to me. It's fun to play with. I just want my body to change now! I saw a photo of me on Facebook yesterday and I look like a ball. My middle just is a look wide! But I'm trying to work on loving my body through this....

Reallylosingitthistime · 13/06/2018 07:11

Great loss fezzes..... but how did you change the way the model looks? I didn't know you could do that!

fezzesarecool · 13/06/2018 07:16

There a bit the days more options and then you get this

Just above the weight and goal section

fezzesarecool · 13/06/2018 07:30

And thank you! Sorry I just woke up!

Being playing around to it and it looks like when I hit the overweight BMI there’s a real difference. At the minute I’m in the obses class 2 and aiming for obses class 1.

B1rdonawire · 13/06/2018 07:51

AnotherOtter thanks for that link, I am going to do my best to do those regularly. A bit of self-massage has concluded I think it's tight muscles on the inside of my leg around the knee and shin, and tight hamstrings, so I will start there.

Loving the CGI weight loss pics - that looks inspiring! I took some comparison pics yesterday for the "1 yr on" stage and was surprised to see a difference in places I hadn't noticed. I am not quite brave enough to put them on here even with the heads lopped off as I don't think you can take them down again when posted, can you?

fezzesarecool · 13/06/2018 08:02

I think you can as in AIBU they keep post but take down identitfying photos.

Not to pressure you but I’d love to see your pics!

Summersnake · 13/06/2018 08:15

I can't get going...every day I'm over eating..every day I start again...now I've joined a vlcd group on Facebook...there's so much advise out there..I've lost weight lots of times in the past by living of soup and salad..but obviously it always go back on...so I don't know where to start or how many calories to have

Cagliostro · 13/06/2018 08:28

Hi all, I’ve not checked in for a few days. Really struggling ATM and not making good decisions (certainly better than in the past, but still not great). Really doubt I’ve lost any more.

Saw the new house on Monday, it’s pretty good overall, I am super mega stressed about it all though. So much to do.

honeysucklejasmine · 13/06/2018 09:03

summer my fitness Pal will give you a calorie goal based on your weight and goal. Highly recommended. Also, get yourself some scales for weighing food if you don't have any already.

fezzesarecool · 13/06/2018 09:45

Summersnake, look at what’s preventing you from starting.

For me it was being scared that I had such a long way to go and that I live my junk food and didn’t want to give it up.

I started off just exercising 3x a week and not looking at food. I just wanted to see if I could improve my fitness levels. It was just a little thing if let me just try and see if I can move a bit more.

After a couple of weeks and seeing the result it then actually made me look at food as I I thought that I was working hard and didn’t want to counter out that work by over eating.

Then I got mfp and looked at setting my calorie goal. At this point I didn’t want to give up my junk food. So what I did was work my junk food into my calorie allowance and by exercising that also helped my allowance. I got a control on portion size and used to lower calories.

I got low calories snacks in the house and make sure I eat at regular times so I don’t get to the point of really hungry and overloading my plate.

Now I’ve got to the point where I’m making better food choices and nothing is banned. But the junk is now at the suggested 20% of the time and a firm control on how often.

You’ve got to figure out what will work for you, it’s took me lots of baby steps but some people are better with the cold turkey approach. You could maybe try looking at your calorie goal and adding a extra couple of 100 over it just to a control first. Also if you exercise you can eat back those calories if you want.

Some people calorie cycle too, so if they eat under their calorie goal every day then they have a extra 500 calories to have something at the weekend.

Also if it’s the thinking about what to eat side, cheat for a few weeks and get low calorie ready meals in. Swap to whole meal bread, rice and pasta, low fat spread, 1cal cooking spray. All small changes that you won’t even notice the difference. Anything to help you get started, then then make changes as you go.

fezzesarecool · 13/06/2018 10:16

Or maybe use mfp for a week to log all your food and aim that next week to cut some calories?

Summersnake · 13/06/2018 10:19

Thanks for the advice...I'm vegan ...for animal welfare reasons...and I just never found any meals I like so my diet is not good..I think I'm just making excuses, and need to get a grip.its actually embarrassing being vegan and fat.people look you in surprise expecting a thin vegan...so I don't tell people 🙄.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/06/2018 10:35

Getting started is the hardest bit Summer!

This may sound a little unconventional, but do you have any vegan cafes/restaurants near you? Maybe go for lunch or get a takeaway from there and try to work out what flavours you like, or get some inspiration.

Or have a look at Jack Monroe's website - lots of cheap and tasty vegan recipes on it. I really rate the mushroom and spinach bolognese (I don't even have pasta with it, just a bowl of the sauce!) Link (it was a recommendation from honey - thanks!)

How about making one change today? Have a glass of water when you'd normally have something else to drink, buy an extra piece of fruit. Anything to start you off. Then you can build on it from there. I'm needing to get my mojo going again, and have the day off work so I'm off for a walk and going to stop at the greengrocers on the way home Smile

Thankyou tractor ,I will have a think x

Wantacurry · 13/06/2018 12:27

Summersnake
It is hard to start. I would suggest logging all the food you eat daily on my fitness pal honestly. The very act of logging food eaten can make you more aware of what you are doing. Then make small changes as you feel ready too.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/06/2018 14:23

@Wantacurry - I've just seen your thread, well done on 40lbs! That's totally fab Grin
