Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Get you with the cross trainer love!

Weighed today at +2lbs, so total loss 4 stone 5lbs. Went for a very hot run in the blazing sun, bumped into an old neighbour who said she'd seen me from across the field and "you're proper skinny now aren't you?" (I'm not) she kindly didn't mention my beetroot face Grinbut it cheered me up a lot. Until I bumped the fecking car this afternoon, totally my fault, argh.

Fezzes fantastic on getting out there running, that's fab!

Fate I totally did the same about "invisibility" type exercise clothing for ages - black leggings and a huge v neck sweatshirt. It was really only the heatwave that forced me to first go for a t-shirt with sleeveless hoodie over the top, and then finally just give in to knee length leggings and a thin t-shirt. I am thinking about asking for proper running leggings for my birthday in the autumn.

honeysucklejasmine · 06/08/2018 22:24

Magic it's not mine 😂 - in laws have a home gym. We're staying until tomorrow.

RenaissanceBunny · 07/08/2018 08:23

Can I join?

So 1st of January this year I weighed 20st 6.5. Through January February March and April got down to 17st 3. I started a new job abroad in a hotter country and really struggled to exercise + was sat at a desk all day. Today I’m at 17st 12.75 and have just completed the first run of C25K. My goal weight is 12st. I’ve not got a full 100lbs to lose anymore but my total weight loss will hopefully be 118.5 lbs.

For this week the goal is to stay definitely below 18st as I tend to drop and pile on a couple of pounds very easily.

honeysucklejasmine · 07/08/2018 08:34

Welcome Renaissance! Well done on your loss so far! It definitely doesn't matter that it's not 100+ any more - it was, so you're on the same journey.

RenaissanceBunny · 07/08/2018 08:37

Thanks jasmine I hope you have been enjoying the cross trainer!

strawberrypig · 07/08/2018 08:43

Hello Renaissance, welcome to the thread.

Madasahattersteaparty1749 · 07/08/2018 08:54

Not quite 100lbs

Start weight 226 lbs
Current weight 216 lbs

Loss so far 10 Lbs

Interim weight goal to bring into healthy bmi 161 lbs (55 lbs to go)

Pre children weight 133 lbs (83 lbs)

My plan is to get into a healthy bmi and reassess how much I need to lose.

The main thing I’m loving is getting back into exercise I feel so much better in myself. With the children I talk about getting healthier and fitter rather then losing weight.

moonlight1705 · 07/08/2018 09:23

I'm back from holiday now and have a chance to catch up with all your posts. Welcome newbies, hope you get lots from this thread, I know I love having the support of everyone here.

We had a fab time in Yorkshire and I did about 15k steps every day which is much more than I normally would do. Fingers crossed the lovely cheese platters I consumed are not going to go against all that walking.

honey you asked ages ago about the pregnancy, all is going well. I'm 15 weeks today and heard the heartbeat yesterday (although faint due to the amount of padding). How's your allergy diet going? Have you noticed a big change in DS?

Tractors well done on your quick walk even if it was a bit wet!

FATE & fezze confidence is a funny thing, even at 21st I never cared what others thought about my size and have exercised (when i could be bothered) with abandon and a big red face. However I tend to dress to what suits me and funnily enough what suits you at size 12 doesn't at size 22 so I have adapted that to change.
Although I was big on my wedding day, I still look at photos and think that I look happy and that is all that matters. Maybe when I am smaller I will look back and wish differently but not yet.

Post - interesting about how your friendships have changed, I look forward to seeing if any of mine do. I have a lovely friend who I've known since uni who still insists that I am not obese (delusional??) but would love to see her reaction when I get to a size 12 in the end.

Magic I think I'm like you and my waist gets smaller quicker than my BMI so will be interesting to hit that magic ratio to see the weight vs waist.

Lovelesslily · 07/08/2018 14:48

Thank you for the warm welcomes... sorry I'm not sure how to quote people!

I am off on holiday a week today and hoping I might just squeak into the 17s for it...

Confidence is a difficult one, I spent the day yesterday at a lido and found the worst bit the walk to and from the pool - feeling like all eyes are on me weighing me up I disgust (when I'm sure they're really not!)
I managed it though and had a good day in the end.
Ended with a trip to Toby carvery where I said no to the king size upgrade ... small steps!

AnotherOtter · 08/08/2018 13:03

Things not going too well for me. My medication has been increased again and it's the one that is notorious for weight gain. Making a tactical withdrawal to the next trench and focusing on avoiding admission. Hoping to minimise weight gain. It's disappointing.

Welcome to the newbies Smile Jump in and keep posting.

How did you get on with your operation, Post? Thanks

How are you recovering now, notanurse? More Thanks to you as well.

You are doing amazing getting out running in the hot weather, MagicKeys. There is nothing that would possess me to run in the sun over 20C! Luckily, that type of weather is not common at all where I live.

Great that you enjoyed your holiday and were so active, moonlight. Must have been so lovely hearing the baby's heartbeat.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 08/08/2018 21:10

Sorry things are tough Another - how are you doing today?

Thoughts to Post and notanurse too Flowers

Welcome loveless and the rest of the newbies, all sounds like you're off to a positive start!

I've been in a foul mood (had to brave the utter carnage that is Edinburgh today - that city is full to bursting, and the infrastructure cannot cope!) and quite unusually for me, have had a mid-week glass of wine. Back on track tomorrow though - have a really satisfying chicken salad waiting for my lunch tomorrow and will have another brisk walk home. Will be better prepared this time!

Thanks for thinking of me, I got home yesterday evening. The actual procedure wen5 well though my veins wouldn’t cooperate with canulation so missed my original slot and I now know morphine makes me very sick. It’s going to plan though I think as the pain is starting to kick in which is a good sign as shows fibroid reacting to losing blood supply. And apparently I can expect flu like symptoms shortly. It did have the effect of all my holiday bloating going and I’m down 0.75lb on pre holiday weight at moment so half a pound off the 7 and a half stone mark.

Otter so sorry you’re not doing so well Flowers Totally get how disappointing it is but you have come a hugely long way. This is one of the situations where that picture of a straight line and a wiggly line on a map between two points come into play, they both end up at the same place, just a different route. You’re absolutely right to focus on non admission, that has now become the most important goal. Continuing to eat as well as you can and exercise as much as you feel able will all make a difference longterm though. You’ve your condition is cyclic so unfortunately you will have these situations sometimes. Learning how to get through them whilst keeping the focus on health and exercise in the background will be a huge ‘win’for the longterm. Success with this is not just measure in pounds and inches loss but also in attitude change and by your last post you’ve clearly got that well in hand. Keep posting, we’re here for you.

Tractors didn’t realise you were in Scotland. Finally made it up last summer and loved the tiny bit of Edinburgh we saw but can imagine how annoying it must be living near Edinburgh in the summer and tripping over people like me! I have hopes that DS will follow in DH’s footsteps and go to University in Scotland . Well done on the walk, well, worth doing .

Moonlight glad pregnancy going well, will be lovely to have another thread baby. Will be very interesting to see how your friend reacts when you get to size 12. I’ve noticed the word obese makes people wince as so many other connotations apart from clinical meaning Honeysuckle hope DS is improving now, BBQ sounds lovely and very improved with the corosstraining !

MagicKeys the proper skinny comment made me Grin sorry about the car though.

Welcome RenaissanceBunny , that’s a great loss so far. A few of us have found C25K work very well which I don’t think any of us would have thought back at the start of all this (I would have laughed at anyone who suggested it )

Fezzes and Fate I did invisibility clothing at first. Baggy t shirt and jogging bottoms , then onto full length leggings and now cycling shorts in the heat. I have got to the point where I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks, not that anyone has said anything negarptive to be fair. Bit grumpy about being on the injury bench for a month at moment but needs must. My friend I went to school with is setting up a conditioning for runners class in October and claims she can get me to a sub 30 5k which remains the elusive holy grail at the moment but getting that bit closer.

Strawberrypig that’s great to have a loss on a week like that and those to me are always that bit sweeter than in a more normal week as show have made lots of progress in handling social situations. You are totally spot on with the lifestyle thing.

Madasahatter great progress so far. I’ve found focusing on the health aspect does help with those who are a bit prone to sabotage along the way as much harder for them to get weird about health goals.

I’m bound to have left someone out, apologies if I have.

FATEdestiny · 09/08/2018 14:12

I just bought, and fit, a Size 10 pale blue cardi from the Tesco sale rail.

Size frigging 10 Shock

Perhaps it's vanity sizing, I don't care. I must have been about 21 last time I fit in any size 10. I was a size 24 pre-Christmas.

PostNotInHaste · 09/08/2018 15:59

Fate a huge well done to you, ‘‘tis lovely !!! That is a massive achievement. I never used to really think about clothes but I read somewhere that it takes the same amount of time to put something decent on as it does anything else which struck a bit of a chord so i’m making an effort seeing as I need a new wardrobe.

BreakingSad · 09/08/2018 16:17

Hope you don't suffer too much with the flu like symptoms Post and glad it's going to plan.

That must be a great feeling Fate well done.

fezzesarecool · 10/08/2018 06:40

Start 278

Last week 197
Week 24 Exercise Week 20 Calorie counting
This week 196

Week loss -1
Total loss -81

Goal 136lb
Left to lose 65lb
Start to lose 142lb

Early weight in as we’re off on holiday tonight, -1! Very pleased especially as exercise is pretty much non existent and AF is here.

Sitting bang on 14stone so not quite made it into the new stone bracket yet but all thing considered it could be a lot worse.

Wow only 19lbs off the 100lbs target so that definitely motivation when I get back home and do able before Christmas.

Let’s hope things don’t get too crazy on holiday. We’ve got some planned treats food wise which should take us to maintenance calories but we’re wanting to stay on plan 80% of the time so hopefully that’ll then balance things out.

Either way it’ll be a lovely 2 weeks and I can’t wait to get going.

fezzesarecool · 10/08/2018 06:51

PostNotInHaste I’ve been lurking on the Style and Beauty boards.

There was a interesting how to build your wardrobe. It was about having items that you really love even just the basics.

So even a black pair of trousers that you love because it’s really flattering/comfortable/the way it makes you feel.

It was saying that for any favourite items you should look at why you love it, like the cut or how it fits and then look at adding similar pieces.

Someone was saying about when you go shopping you should wear something that makes you feel good so that when you are trying in clothes they should make you feel as good as what you came in wearing.

Also about having a clear out every season, so anything you haven’t worn at all in the apporriate season, you need to look at why not. (Very good one for me as a hoarder!).

Anyway it made sense to me and personally this is the self care side of the weight loss journey. Taking pride in my appearance and being very aware of my size so that when I do get there I can maintain.

strawberrypig · 10/08/2018 06:59

Have a wonderful holiday Fezzes, try not to stress about your weight there.

I really hope your flu symptoms are mild post, take care of yourself!

Fate, wow, ultimate NSV!

Tractor, walking back from work is a massive achievement as it is too easy to decide it's too tiring after a long day!

PostNotInHaste · 10/08/2018 07:03

Thanks Breaking . Well done Fezzes, huge milestone in sight now, have a really lovely holiday.

Loss this week 8.25lb
Total loss 106.25 lb
To lose 3.75lb

Large loss this week a combination of last week’s holiday week where about a number of pounds piled on for no good reason and not eating much for Surgery. I expect weight to go up again when I start eating more but am enjoying be close to goal whilst it lasts.

fezzesarecool · 10/08/2018 07:43

Thanks everyone, I’ll be lurking while away

I’ve downloaded a load of books for my kindle so hopefully will get some reading in between dealing with the extra hyper kids! 🤣

Really looking forward to some quality family time and especially what my youngest will make of it all.

Oh just weighed in too, 2 stone off in total so I’m really proud of him. It’s great that we’re in it together so going forward we’ll have the same ‘danger’ time like holiday, Christmas etc and then each time getting back to it together.

honeysucklejasmine · 10/08/2018 13:26

Great work everyone! I've been away so was lurking, but your posts have been fabulous.

Amazing loss Post, even if you do think it's temporary.

Happy holidays Fezzes!

I planned on road testing my new "fitness leggings" last night but was lucky enough to get a migraine. Will try again tonight - I am so behind on C25K!

RenaissanceBunny · 10/08/2018 14:29

Good job on getting those steps in moonlight it can be amazing how far you walk on holiday with out really trying.

loveless I completely understand what you mean by feeling watched but honestly people only care if you care and you were getting on and exercising - there should be no judgement for that. Well done for braving the looks and getting in anyway!

Another I'm sorry to hear that you're needing medication but even maintaining a weight loss is a huge achievement never mind when the medication is working against you so good luck, chin up.

Tractors I was in Edinburgh the other day - you're right carnage!

Good luck with the recovery Post

Yay Fate it is nice to be able to buy a size less than you were expecting and dropping 7 dress sizes in 8 months is fantastic !!!

Enjoy your holiday fezzes sounds wonderful

So C25K is on hold at the moment. I went for the run on Tuesday and developed awful shin splints so haven't run again but I'm trying to keep up my walking, give it another week then try running again - maybe not on concrete. I'm doing well with the weight loss this week. I've been having a homemade minestrone soup with beans in it - it is sooooooo filling but only about 250 calories. Today I'm making carrot and coriander soup for future lunches and a chicken and sweet potato oven tray bake thing for tea.

honeysucklejasmine · 10/08/2018 16:04

Renaissance I had soup for lunch from February through to about May, and since then I've had salads. I would make a big batch on Sunday, portion up and freeze. Easy to heat up whilst making kids lunch, and used to serve it with carrot sticks and houmous, and maybe some crisps if I had the calories available. One of my most dubious but really tasty was courgette and mint soup. Actually delicious. I have a giant courgette from FILs allotment, might make some for the freezer.

strawberrypig · 11/08/2018 08:04

This week I have been soooooooo hungry, I've snacked like crazy, been rubbish at taking food into work with me and so eaten pre-packed sandwiches and salads (and used the dressings) and I have drunk quite a few glasses of wine Blush

And guess what, I only blooming lost 4lbs this week! I think I must have been under eating and my body was clinging to the weight. I have noticed that I go two or three weeks at a time going two steps forward, one step back for small loses and then losing a lump of weight in the 4th week. Sitting on the part of me that is yelling that wine is a diet food Wink

So my week 13 stats are....

Start weight - 257lbs

This weeks loss - 4lbs

Total loss to date - 28.5 lbs.

Only 71.5lbs to go!

I've hit the 2 stone mark so another charm to chose for my bracelet! A great NSV is that my size 18s are getting loose on me.

MagicKeysToAsda · 11/08/2018 10:39

Well done strawberry!! wish that worked for me!

I have tried to swap things around a bit as I was feeling stuck and a bit fed up. So I've swapped breakfast (was always porridge with apple, have swapped to branflakes), trying really hard to just not snack, and yesterday cooked up a big batch of carrot soup that was so yummy even veg-shirker DD had a bowlful. Have got some home-made (no oil) houmous for later on. Instead of usual heck chicken sausages, swapped for linda macartney veggie ones. Basically I'm trying to push, shove and drag myself out of a slump!!

Honeysuckle any more info on the courgette soup? I would never have thought to try it, was it genuinely yummy? What did you put in?

Really glad to hear the procedure went as hoped Post I hope the days since haven't been too bad and you're starting to feel better Flowers

Hope you have recovered from the very peopley day Tractors presume it won't be safe to venture into Edin again until about, er, September?!
