Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

NSV back in from Clubbercise I could do all the moves and made mine own up but I did it! I exercised in public and 2 mums from the school run were there too!

fezzesarecool · 18/07/2018 20:48

*couldnt

ChestyNut · 19/07/2018 07:03

chicken welcome. I also have a history of disordered eating so have been doing as you suggested, not a diet just healthy changes. I do eat chocolate a few times a week and accept my weight loss has been slower than others but I’m proud that I’ve sustained the changes for over a year and lost over 4 stone.

Unheard of in the past, my history is huge rapid loss followed by huge rapid gain.

You can do this just KOKO.

Welcome to the other newbies Flowers

fezzesarecool · 19/07/2018 08:26

Had a mid week weigh in and not looking great this week.

Not sure why as I’ve been 100% on track with diet and exercise this week. It’s frustrating too as I’ve pushed myself this week as next week I will be finding hard to get in the exercise time wise and I was trying to make a mini goal.

So it’s either some kind of water retention or I need to reset mfp goal already.

Interestingly last week when I did my weight in AF was here and I showed a loss for the first time with AF which never happens, normally it’s sts and especially for that part of my cycle it shouldn’t have shown a loss.

Got a planned refeed on Saturday too as it’s Oh’s birthday.

Just hoping this isn’t a stall, worst time for it to happen over the summer especially as there’s only a few weeks that will be totally on track. Just got to KOKO.

fezzesarecool · 19/07/2018 08:44

Although, as our pre schools finished last week I’ve not been going up and down the hill for the school run. I don’t count this is my burn as it comes under normal activity for me.

FATEdestiny · 19/07/2018 10:31

I'm planning on rarely snacking, eating loads more fresh whole foods and exercising much more

This is exactly what I've done ChickenFriedMice.

I eat only at mealtimes, never ever between meals. I haven't cut out any food groups but ensure all of my food is wholefood and not processed. So no bread, pasta or things like cake/biscuits/chocolate because they are processed foods.

But I do eat oats, rice, couscous, quinoa - the stuff low carbers avoid. Then oodles of fresh vegetables (more than 7 veg portions per day usually). I eat one pulses portion a day, usually in the form of home made hummus for lunch. This is nicely filling.

If I want something sweet then I'll have fruit and/or yoghurt after a meal. But not every time, I avoid routinely eating sweet stuff, even healthy sweet stuff.

Sunday Dinner has always (and will always) remain my special meal of the week when I treat myself. I'll have roast potatoes, I'll have stuffing balls if they are there, or Yorkshire pudding or whatever. I'll have a proper pudding (that my mum makes for us) and a glass of something nice with the meal. But this is my only "syn" or unhealthy meal of the week. Everything else is 100% healthy, whole, fresh and home made.

I also run at least 5k every day. Initially I used to walk daily, then started C25K and it built from there.

I log my food in my fitbit in a very honest way. Not in order to calorie count really, just so I can learn about my own eating habits. I recognise if I feel I want to eat between meals one day, I can usually find a reason why I feel like that by looking at my food log. Then ensure I don't get myself to that point again.

I tend to run at least a 1000 calorie deficit per day, often closer to 1500. I'm not aiming for any calorie deficit, I just only eat when I need to any as much as I need to and that's the amount it usually ends up as.

6 stone down so far...

Less than 1 1/2 stone until I'm a healthy BMI...

One extra stone loss on top of that would be great and I think I'll do it by Christmas Smile

honeysucklejasmine · 19/07/2018 12:44

Hi all. Some really interesting posts in last day or so. I've been struggling a bit this week so it was just what I needed to read! Perfect!

I bought some trainers (ASICS) but I haven't used them yet - we trialed DS with gluten and he is still allergic apparently so he's been too unsettled for me to go out in the evening. Hoping to do so this evening though as he was much better last night.

So, yesterday I was buying a coat for my mum, and was trying them on to guess size. I'd say she's a 12-14, but prefers her clothes a bit looser, especially on the arms. I put on an L and it swamped me. Shock #1. So I put on an M and it fit perfectly. Shock #2! A medium! Me! OMFG. Thrilled is an understatement. (I bought the medium for her.) Feeling v good at the moment. First I got the size 16 jeans on and now I fit in a medium coat! Woooooo! Someone asked me today if I'd lost weight so that was nice too. To be able to say "yes I have!"

FATEdestiny · 19/07/2018 12:53

That amazing feeling when smaller sizes fit you honeysucklejasmine, it's so brilliant.

MindBodyChocolate · 19/07/2018 13:23

Well done honeysuckle - that's great!

jingscrivvens · 19/07/2018 13:50

Hi, I hope you don't mind me joining in? I'm not quite needing to lose 100lbs, 88 would get me down to normal weight so I am aiming for that!

I've read this thread and you all seem so lovely and have the mindset that I need to get, that you don't lose a stone a month it takes time and hard work!

I've been trying on and off for 18 months and so far have lost 24lbs doing 5:2 but I get sick of that after a while and find if I'm not really strict on my 5 days I wouldn't lose anything. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to follow MFP and keep track of every day and so far so good I've lost 3.8lbs. Got a wedding in 2 weeks and would love to be in the 16st for that, only 1.9lb off that so that is my main focus

moonlight1705 · 19/07/2018 15:07

So I had my 12 week scan today and all went well. Nearly wet myself as misjudged what made a full bladder but baby is there and healthy.

The photo isn't great as frankly my stomach got in the way but the midwife and I had a chat about it without any fat shaming going on which was nice.

Lovely to see all your posts this week and welcome all the newbies. I'm a slow loser but I want to be able to have nights out and fish and chips if I want and not worry too much about slowly going down.

Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5
honeysucklejasmine · 19/07/2018 15:36

Congratulations moonlight! I had "low resolution due to maternal BMI" written on all mine but I wasn't given any grief about it by sonographer or midwife. The most annoying thing was having to have a glucose tolerance test. Mostly because it's very dull Grin

Hi Jing, welcome! I honestly can't recommend mfp enough, it's really helped me properly understand what's actually in food, after years of doing SW and putting it all back on again.

B1rdonawire · 19/07/2018 17:51

Chestynut I think I've had chocolate every single day (but I weighed the amount and accounted for it). I also picked a long-term plan that didn't ban pasta, because I know I can't sustain that. Others are faster than me (in weight loss and in running pace!) but 13 months in, almost 4.5 stones off, I'm totally OK with that.

Honeysuckle sorry your DS is going through a rough time again, hope you both soon get some rest.

Moonlight exciting times!

Fezzes really well done on getting to your class, so glad you enjoyed it.

Welcome to new people, and sorry if I missed anyone - have had exhausted DD off school for two days. Four more days of school to potentially survive...!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 19/07/2018 19:23

Welcome jings (I keep adding 'helpmaboab' when I read your name Grin)

Check you out with your NSV honey, hope littlest honey perks up soon. nickname hope your dd is feeling better too, and your dd too B1rd!

moonlight aaah, it all gets a bit more real when you have a scan - hello thread baby!

I've had a good week so far, and have an informal interview lined up tomorrow, so fingers crossed! Off to do some prep and do some planning for the weekend Wink

honeysucklejasmine · 19/07/2018 20:25

Oooh good luck Tractors!

Hoping I can go out for week 2 run 1 of C25K. DH trying to put DS to bed now.

Watching the news. Christ, what a shitshow the world is at the moment. I need this run! I'll listen to music loudly and get some fresh air without two small children hanging off me, and hopefully the world will seem a bit less insane.

strawberrypig · 19/07/2018 20:41

Well done Honey, fabulous nsv!

Moonlight, how exciting, nothing quite like seeing your bean on screen.

Fingers crossed, tractor.

honeysucklejasmine · 19/07/2018 21:53

Did my "run". It was good. Now eating peanuts and watching Idiocracy (an old film with Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph)

MindBodyChocolate · 20/07/2018 10:13

Lost half a sodding pound this week. Gutted as I’ve been trying really hard. Not giving up, but I’m quite upset about it.

honeysucklejasmine · 20/07/2018 12:56

I hear you mind. It's so frustrating. There's so many factors that could affect it - your hormones, the temperature outside, the phase of the blinking moon... You get the idea. This is the hardest thing - to keep on keeping on, and know that you'll see results eventually. I lost half a pound last week too and it's very annoying.

BreakingSad · 20/07/2018 15:35

I'm up 2 lbs, had AF but had a crap week food wise, so can 't blame it all on that. Line drawn again and been back on it today, I did log everything, so staying accountable.

KOKO everyone

Hope the interview went well Notractors

Stripeybum · 20/07/2018 17:47

Hi! I've lurked for ages but am taking the plunge. I need to lose 30kg, may I join in please? I think it's just under 5 stone and at the moment seems insurmountable 😔 But I've started on slimming world doing it myself at home. I'm going to weigh monthly as I can get so hung up on pounds and ounces and that's not healthy for me.

I've been on plan since Tuesday so next weigh in is 17th August.

Am currently nursing a very bruised knee injury so can't exercise but am hoping to join the gym when it's healed.

I'm so fed up of saying 'right this is it' but when my weight tipped over into the state it has I feel I have no choice. My health and wellbeing need to be concentrated on

So, I hope it's ok to be here?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/07/2018 21:05

Eh not so well at this end - AF came on this morning and I had cramping so bad during the interview I actually gasped and had to explain why I had suddenly blanched Shock. On the sofa now feeling grumpy and bloated. PCOS is an arse - months and months without proper periods and then when they do arrive, christ you know about it!

So, I'm a delight this evening - even TractorCat is giving me a wide berth Blush. But still on track. Just.

strawberrypig · 20/07/2018 21:30

Welcome Stripeybum, stick here and you will soon get your head in the game. Starting is the hardest thing!

Tractor, how absolutely f#@%ing frustrating! Keeping on track, given the circumstances is bloody amazing though.

honeysucklejasmine · 20/07/2018 22:23

Did you think you liked the sound of the workplace, Tractors?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/07/2018 22:39

It's one I sort of know already - worked quite closely with them a few years ago, so have a fair idea of the culture. No alarm bells so far - but this was just a coffee chat over lunchtime, so it's difficult to tell. Also, pale, sweaty and cramping isn't my best look, so probably not my best impression Grin
