Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Fezzes that's awesome! My two do tap and I would love to try it, I'm very heavy footed but I'd love to. Watching them makes me happy. Annoyingly I can't make the current lesson time but I may try ballroom in September as I love that too (did a little with DH when eldest was a baby).

I have dropped the pound or two I'd gained so I'm back at 15.11 yet again. I am fairly happy though as I thought I'd gained this month.

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 19:46

Cagliostro If I’m trying tap you have to try ballroom, it’ll hopefully keep us motivated over the summer holidays Smile

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/07/2018 19:56

This can be us, folks....Grin

I hope so, sounds like a fair deal! There's a ten week course I can do to start, only issue is whether the baby will be leavable by then. Once we've settled in the new house I need to start expressing and trying to get her to drink it.

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 20:00

tractors :o :o

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 20:19

NoTractorsAtTheTable In my case that’s scarily accurate for how I dance! 🤣 Think you should try ballet out

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 20:21

Cagliostro Hopefully it’ll work out Ballroom dancing looks so glamorous and I love a bit of sparkleb

B1rdonawire · 12/07/2018 20:27

I love tap!! I have the shoes, I went to classes for years but stopped due to cost of babysitters... I can recommend the DVD "I hate to exercise I love to tap" for tapping at home.

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 20:31

Pooh never heard of that and probably worth me giving that a little go beforehand too

I’m sure I’ll totally embarrass myself but I’ve let me weight hold me but for too long Dd’s Teacher noticed the change last week so I think she can guess I’m going to be the worst one but she looked happy that I asked about it

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 20:38

Ooh a tap DVD! That would be a good start.

My DCs are home educated and I'm hoping to build in some time in our new schedule where they practise for their various clubs (they also do Tae Kwon do and stuff) and then they can teach me!

I really want to make being active a bigger part of my life, especially as a family. My upbringing was not like that at all, going for a walk was unheard of and any running or climbing was too boisterous. Thankfully my DCs enjoy loads of activity and my fit DH runs a sports club, we've had requests to set up a parent and child fitness class too although I'm not entirely sure how I'd join in myself because of the baby.

Luckily the new house is near town and we will always walk into town once we've moved, I think long term I could get used to walking home too but it is quite steep up the hill and this heat is really doing me in (I have POTS among other conditions which flares up in hot weather) so I haven't tried that yet.

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 20:45

Cagliostro It’s so hard with the babies to fit this in. Ds lives joining in the exercise DVDs with me and the only way I can try these classes out is because OH is home with the kids in the evening

Similar upbringing to you as in we didn’t do any fitness thing as a family but hoping now I can make being active part of our family life.

If you and oh could set up a parent child fitness club that would be fantastic! As part of ds’ music group there’s some movement dances that I do while carrying him which is a bonus for me

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 20:55

Omg, look at that dvd and the shuffle hop step looks really hard!

IFartGlitter · 12/07/2018 21:25

Can I join you all? I’m the biggest I’ve ever been, I have 8 stone to lose just to get to a healthy BMI. I’m joining Slimming World next week.

I want to be able to run around after my children, I want to not be an embarrassment to them on the school run, I want to set a healthy example to them and I want to be able to be in photos with my family instead of taking them.

My moment when I realised I had to do something other than comfort eat came yesterday. I was driving and a builder in a van pulled in behind a car to let me past, I went to raise my hand to say thanks but it obviously wasn’t enough, he proceeded to shout ‘it’s alright you fat cunt’ at me through my open window, in front of my children. I spent most of yesterday sobbing.

So, here goes....
Age - 42
Height - 5ft 2.
Start weight (today) - 17 st 7
Aim - 9 st 7.

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 21:32

IFartGlitter What a horrible man, I’m sorry you had to go through that especially in front of your kids Flowers

I have a lot of similar reasons as you for doing this

You can definitely do this! We’re all doing different things but the main thing is we understand the emotional side of this and it’s a great supportive thread

So a big welcome to you

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/07/2018 21:32

Welcome IFart (or should we call you Glitter - it is rather more polite!). The dancing is optional, but do join in if you feel the need Wink

Can totally agree with your reasons, and I'm sorry for your experience yesterday. Fuck that twat, you can lose weight but he'll always be a twat.
At the risk of sounding trite, don't shed any more tears over him - it is not worth it - but doing this for you, and your DCs will be!

NoTractorsAtTheTable I had to be, I was calling him far worse in my head!

People like that are fucking scum, but as you say we can change this but they can’t change a ugly soul

fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 21:50

Keep meaning to say, hi Lego if you’re lurking, hope everything’s ok

strawberrypig · 12/07/2018 21:52

Welcome Glitter, what a silly little man! I imagine he has a very small willy Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 12/07/2018 22:29

Hi Glitter! Welcome! What a wanker that man is.

I did my second "run" of C25K today. It was good, 10km/h average pace so pretty pleased. Strava says I did 2.6km. Starting small, working up!

Does anyone use Strava and MFP? I have connected them but the exercise isn't syncing across which is really annoying. Any ideas?

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 23:32

Welcome glitter I’m sorry you had to go through that. What an utter fuckmuppet 😡😡😡 yes, he is most likely challenged in the penis department don’t blame you for being so upset though x

AnotherOtter · 13/07/2018 08:06

Well done fezzes, you are doing great going for these classes. Has your new uniform arrived yet?

Welcome Evenmycurves. Starting is really hard. I found breaking the pounds down into smaller goals helped keep me going. So I thought in terms of under this stone or half stone bracket or under that BMI milestone. Also I think measuring yourself is good so as to have something else to track other than the scales to help cope with weight fluctuations. I measure bust, waist and hips every month and track that in MFP along with my weight. I like the graphs Grin

Welcome Chiminey. You sound like you have an awful lot of stress in your life. I hope things improve soon Thanks

Good job with the walking, honey. It's tough to fit it all in. The increased fitness really does help in other areas of life too though.

Well done on your weight loss milestone, strawberry.

How is the job going, Tractors?

Welcome Glitter. So sorry that that man was such a prick to you. What a horrible experience, especially in front of your kids Thanks

I had a day eating at maintenance calories yesterday courtesy of a meal out with chocolate cake for pudding. It was actually disappointing as not particularly good cake and I kind of resent using up calories on it! I think I am developing the mindset that treats are grand as long as they are worth it to me. I find sugary foods really ramp up my appetite too which is unsettling. Still on 1700 calories with two forty minute walks a day and running 5k three times a week. In theory should let me lose 1lb a week but I'm sure my metabolism has slowed (adaptive thermogenesis) even accounting for lower body weight. I have said over and over on this forum that I need to be more patient but I have yet to crack it.

fezzesarecool · 13/07/2018 08:24

AnotherOtter Not yet, I normally only work Sundays so in theory it should arrive this week or next and I get a extra 7 day’s till I have to wear it (29). 😫

I’m going hardcore with exercise this week and hopefully next too, depends on the kids as dd graduates from preschool today! Big girl now

Then I’m sure my weight loss/exercise will slow over the summer so the aim is maintain or a pound a week. Either way I’m happy with my NSV of being able to walk the primary school run, non stop without getting out of breath and not embarrassing myself for being unable to manage.

Yeah it’s very hard to be patient and if you do crack it let us know! I think I will definitely struggle when I get down to your weight and it slows.

Shame you didn’t enjoy your treat. It the same but we’ve got a family party tonight and I want a drink/don’t want a drink. I don’t think it’s worth it right now especially as next month I’ve got the Hen where I definitely will be enjoying having a drink and a child free evening!

moonlight1705 · 13/07/2018 08:35

I sometimes really hate reading MN threads. There is one going on about a poster who's 20 week scan wasn't great due to her BMI (of 37) and plenty of other posters are telling her that she was awful for getting pregnant when obese and how she is harming her baby.

Honestly right now I feel I could cry and keep on doing so for the next bloody seven months.

Sorry just needed to get that out Sad
