Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Aw moonlight :( I get it, my BMI was over 40 when I got pregnant, much much higher than when I had my other two (now 11 and 8). It put me under consultant led care but they actually never weighed me once after the booking in appt. I continued losing weight throughout the pregnancy, perfectly healthy baby. I had GD and that was a royal PITA, but the diet I followed to keep my sugars under control was brilliant and I felt really good on it as well. You got this Thanks

fezzesarecool · 13/07/2018 08:57

moonlight1705 Honestly stay off the pregnancy threads, they do get to you

I was 19st with both mine, both healthy and happy. Enjoy this experience, being under a consultant means you’ll get extra checks which I felt help me relax about it all. Flowers

honeysucklejasmine · 13/07/2018 08:57

Don't worry moonlight. I didn't have a single weight related complication in either pregnancy. I was consultant led but I would be anyway due to my medical history. I did get extra growth scans which was good as that's where we found out dd2 was actually Ds!

moonlight1705 · 13/07/2018 09:26

Thanks everyone for your nice words, this is why I love this group as you all know what it's like.

To be honest, I found it quite refreshing knowing that even if I was below a BMI of 35 then I would have been under consultant care due to the thyroid issues.

So far I've lost nearly 2kg with this pregnancy so I am going to try like Cagliostro not to put any on over the time.

Why are other people so cruel on those threads? We can never do anything right, you are too old, too young, too fat, too thin, too imperfect.
I might just ask you guys who have been through a high BMI pregnancy for lots of advice instead.

honey love the fact that your DD was a DS Smile extra scans are worth something then.

Wantacurry · 13/07/2018 10:23

Just adding, I am another big mum who had four healthy kids under consultant led care and would of had that care anyway unrelated to my weight issues. You will do fine Moonlight.

I went to the doctors today, to ask for help with my chronic tiredness. I fall asleep when ever I sit down during the day. :(

I eat a medical based healthy diet, walk around 4 miles a day, look after four kids and sleep well with a bipap machine (for unrelated to weight, sleep apnoea)

I think this is related to the meds I take for my bowel problems, it has led to deficient b12, low iron and borderline thyroid before...guess it is that again. I am so tired, I could weep and it is only 10.20am.

Can't even boast my energy with caffeine or sugar, as it isn't on my medical diet list....arghh. Another blood test this afternoon and if I am lucky a months iron or vit B12 to boost me just another deficient for a couple of weeks, before feeling the same tiredness I feel now. :(

IFartGlitter · 13/07/2018 12:18

Thank you everyone. I do feel better now, I’m glad I found this thread, I don’t feel like I’m doing this alone.

honeysucklejasmine · 13/07/2018 14:33

Glitter this is a great thread. It's a complicated business, losing this much weight. But we get it.

I started following fatgirlfedup on Instagram. American lady who has dropped 300+lbs since starting in 2016. Her posts are good and honest about the realities of losing such significant amounts of weight. Obviously it's 200lbs more than most of us are planning but it's a great inspiration.

fezzesarecool · 13/07/2018 15:12

Bit of a hectic one today but just realised there’s a buffet tonight, I’m guessing cold finger food.

Obviously I won’t be standing there using mfp (will probably take a photo to log later) Am I right in assuming the best choice apart from veg, would be chicken with the skin taken off? Thanks in advance

Alwayscommuting · 13/07/2018 15:18

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me popping in to say hi. I've been reading everyone's stories for a while and they are really inspiring and interesting. It's also really reassuring to read about all of you who've had positive pregnancy experiences with a high BMI. I had a MC 3 years ago and the doctor I spoke to after had some words to say that have stuck with me.

I've lost about 60lbs so far this year and I think I have about the same to go again.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/07/2018 18:12

Hello Always thanks for popping in Smile - fab loss so far, how are you doing it?

fezzzes i think that would be sensible approach (although I bloody love chicken skin) - avoid anything beige would be my contribution, and beware of sneaky plate/glass fillers!

Another - job is definitely not working out, I'm applying for lots of things though Wink

honey I will check out that instagrammer - I do like some motivational images!
Want - I hope you get some answers - bone-weary tiredness is truly a horrible thing.

moonlight you're doing so well! I tend to avoid other areas of MN as you just can't get a rational response. I was about BMI 30 with both of mine (and then chunked on a fair whack) and felt like I was scolded like a naughty child both times. There's no fucking point in that, I was fat and already up the duff - I wasn't (and still not) a fucking magician!

Chin up, you're being sensible and not using this as an excuse to eat for 2 (or 3, or 4) - and you're growing an actual human inside you. You Star

Hello to everyone else I've missed off - I'm going to lose this post if I scroll up much further so I'm posting now, but you're all in my thoughts! KOKO y'all Grin

Tractors our new catch phrase for the group should be ' I'm not, nor have I ever been a fucking magician'

That's made me Grin

Alwayscommuting · 13/07/2018 21:46

@NoTractorsAtTheTable I'm doing the Cambridge plan

fezzesarecool · 14/07/2018 08:27

Weigh in

Start 278

Last week 205
Week 20 Exercise Week 16 Calorie counting
This week 202

Week loss -3
Total loss -75

Goal 136lb
Left to lose 71lb
Start to lose 142lb

Very happy with that, great night last night will update later.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/07/2018 08:56

Well done fezzes! I'm 0.5lb down - I'd expected a little more, but it's still a loss, and the numbers are finally changing! Smile. Been awake since 4.30am for some reason - it feels like it should be about 1pm by now Confused

Loss this week: 0.5 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 47.5 lbs
Left to lose: 76.5 lbs

OP posts:
moonlight1705 · 14/07/2018 10:05

Loss this week: -3lb
Total loss: -17lb

Finally had a good week which makes up for STS last week.

Well done both on your losses.

strawberrypig · 14/07/2018 11:12

Woo hoo to the weight lost this week Smile

Week 8

2lbs off
Total lost 20lbs (the weight of a car tyre)
80 lbs to go! (So I've lost the spare tyre and just have the four on the car to go!)

I still can't see the loss yet but I can feel it, I am already far more flexible than I was a few months ago.

Reallylosingitthistime · 14/07/2018 18:08

Well done on the loses everyone! I can't remember when I last updated but these are my stats....

149 lbs to lose

  • 72lbs lost
= 77lbs left to lose

It's taken me 6 months but I am almost halfway there.

IFartGlitter - what a vile man! In the past I have been as much as 23 stone, I have never had anyone say something like that to me so I am always astounded to hear that it does actually happen. You cannot be defined by your weight! However infront of your kids was truly awful.

Moonlight - I am another that was consultant led during pregnancy and all was good!

How is everyone's belly as they drop weight? Mine has slimmed definitely but so so saggy sadly and when I lay down it's like I fell and went splat on my thighs and tum.

fezzesarecool · 14/07/2018 18:20

Reallylosingitthistime Mines always a bit saggy! Actually I’ve managed to suck mine in completely the other day and the result gave me a idea of what my excess skin will look like and actually if it’s anything like that I cant see it bothering me.

The exercise is really helping me to tone and build muscle all over but definitely after 2 children my tummy will have a deflated look to it.

Thanks everyone and well done for all the loses!

I did well last night, stayed well within my calorie goal and had a vodka and Diet Coke (it was worth the swap against a sausage roll!) I had a later and smaller lunch than usual and a smaller dinner and it made the buffet much less tempting.

NSV jumped around the dance floor with dd without feeling like elephant and without getting tired!

Also today I did jogging with dd (as a way of getting her to walk and stop moaning) and again surprised myself with how manageable it was and didn’t care if people were looking.

But C2K’s not for me but feeling good about going to Clubbercise this week.

FATEdestiny · 14/07/2018 18:41

Hi there. I keep meaning to join this thread. I got to 6 stone loss (since 1st January) this week and it occurred to me that my next stone loss will see me go through the 100lb barrier. I don't weigh in total pounds, so hadn't realised!

Weight on 1st Jan 2018: 17st 8.5
BMI on 1st Jan 2018: 43.8

Current weight: 11st 7.5
Current BMI: 28.7

Great to see someone up thread mentioning Couch to 5K - it's an awesome program. I started C25K on 6th April, running every day. I now run 50k per week every week - at least three 10K runs and fast paced 5K runs on the other days.

In January I struggled the 1.5km walk to school and back. I cannot believe how quickly a novice runner can progress!

I'm not following any diet programs - just eating whole, healthy foods and nothing processed. My husband is losing weight alongside me, he has lost 5 stone and has just got to BMI 25. We have 4 children and they are eating the same food as us - so it's a whole family, long term complete change in eating habits.

fezzesarecool · 14/07/2018 19:00

FATEdestiny Hiya, I think we’ve been on a couple of threads together and once again a massive well done on the both weight loss and fitness!

honeysucklejasmine · 14/07/2018 19:08

What a successful Saturday it's been on thread! Well done everyone!

Fate omg! Congratulations, what an inspiring story. Huge well done on your loss so far. And the running!

Actually, can anyone recommend me some shoes? I appreciate I'll need actual running shoes if I'm going to get fitter - based on the fact that I currently have blisters so can't go for my next "run" this evening. They'll be healed enough to go tomorrow morning I hope but this isn't a good long term solution. Help! We don't have much money so I'm looking for "good enough for regular walks" rather than "regular runner" type range.

fezzesarecool · 14/07/2018 19:19

Forgot another NSV!

I was talking to one of the mums at dd’s class today about weight loss etc She’s doing ww and is a size 14 a bit shorter than me. I consider her lovely and slim although now really understanding that she works at keeping it that way by not letting it get out of hand.

Anyway she said that she thinks now I’m not much bigger than her! What a lovely thing to hear, especially as I think she looks great.

I’ve been finding it hard to get use to my size, as in I’ve done fine but I know I’m still obese (down a BMI category as of today!) but obviously still obese. But my mum send me photos of me last night and actually I can see the change and not be cringing at seeing my body.

Do building on that, a shopping trip for me and oh, (who’s shirts are a good couple of inches too big for him) is coming up and I’m going to brave the ‘normal’ shops and actually try some things on, maybe in a 18!

PostNotInHaste · 14/07/2018 19:25

Definitely a successful Saturday, well done ! A big welcome to all the newcomers, os,e cracking losses there. Honeysuckle my DS is a nightmare with trainers and moans they all hurt with the exception of an own brand pair from Decathlon, they were about £20 I think. Might be worth checking out if you have one nearby.

My stomach looks a bit deflated at the bottom when standing but not too bad lying down, it does stay where it should! I’ve got the c section overhang though and am carrying round something the size of an orange in my uterus so assumably that’s enlarged and filling a bit of space so might be extra saggy if they manage to shrink it. My inner thighs are a little saggy and so is my arse but the last two have improved over the past few months. It’s all a lot better than I thought it would be at 48 and having lost just over 100lbs.

PostNotInHaste · 14/07/2018 19:32

@NotaNurse, hope you’re on the mend now Flowers

Reallylosingitthistime · 14/07/2018 19:35

Honeysuckle - Nike Airmax of some kind, they are good for running and walking and don't look like traditional cluncky running trainers. My favourite are Zeros but DH loves 95s. They are like cushions.
