Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hope your daughter is home soon nickname. Caglio, hope the next few weeks pass quickly, it’ll be worth it in the end.

Weigh in, week 4
-2
Total loss: - 1 stone 3 1/2 lbs

Mini goal 10 1/2 lbs over next 4 weeks. It’s a big push but will try my best.

Have a good week everyone

fezzesarecool · 02/07/2018 07:56

Reallylosingitthistime thank you, for me what’s working is counting calories and doing resistance training 4 - 5 day’s a week and walking 3 miles a day.

There’s debate about this, but I don’t normally eating back my exercise calories. To me it’s a bonus along with watching my intake. However a few people on here did express some concern about it.

I have been to my GP as a result, and they are happy that for my situation that not eating back calories the amount of weight loss is right.

Obviously though it will start to slow down. This morning I’m already sweating away in the heat and fingers cross next summer I’ll be a much healthier weight and comfortable in my body and not covering up in the heat!

fezzesarecool · 02/07/2018 12:48

One good thing about the weather though, great for loss of appetite! Lol although obviously I’m eating but it’s making me handle the lower calorie better

honeysucklejasmine · 02/07/2018 20:17

Eugh. I got supremely stressed by my children today, and ate my feelings. Luckily I'm only 45 cals over as I managed to get it in hand. Feel a bit shitty about it though. I don't normally go over at all. Reassuring myself that I was 61 under yesterday so I'm still under.

I'm going to weigh early this week as we're away at the weekend. Just to my grandmother's house though so shouldn't be too hard to stick to plan.

strawberrypig · 02/07/2018 20:56

I was overcome for the desire for a McDs today so thought I would make one. Air fried fries, 5% fat burgers, seeded thin bagels and a blooming good diet friendly New York stack.

Only managed a half of it though 😂

Had a bit of a rubbish day so this was just the answer.

Popping in to say I don't have much to say! I am going to look into impulse control though - I read an article somewhere (which I should have bookmarked) which had a lot of things that rang true. I've been spending a bit recently, which makes me wonder if I'm displacing poor impulse control around food, with poor control in other areas Blush. Bit of research is needed I think...

I had my first midwife appointment today. Lots of paperwork but embarrassingly they couldn't get a blood sample as I was too dehydrated.

Need to drink more water now Blush

strawberrypig · 02/07/2018 22:21

I think you are spot on tractors. I got fat because I gave up smoking and transferred nicotine addiction for overeating.

How exciting Moonlight, first midwife appointment is the most exciting thing! I imagine pretty much everyone is dehydrated atm!

Member745520 · 03/07/2018 07:51

'morning, tractors! I'll be interested to read about your findings on impulse control.

A couple of weeks ago I began to link a fairly sustained (for me) period of discipline around food intake with an increased and happy spendfest, and although I don't really have any regrets on that score and don't think it will get out of hand, I'm curious now as to what other impulses might present themselves.

I'm wondering whether the trick is to recognise and acknowledge them for what they are, and then harness and use the one we feel can best help us move forwards at the time?

notanurse2017 · 03/07/2018 17:59

Hello everyone sorry I haven't been on this thread for a while. I had my gallbladder and hernia surgery on Saturday and it went a bit wrong. I am still in hospital. I hope that I can come out soon. I'm looking on the positive - if I hadn't lost over 6 stone and been so much fitter I think that I would be in really bad trouble now. As it is I am able to move around a little on my own.

Koko everyone

But everyone on here is losing weight, so clearly it IS possible!

notanurse2017 · 03/07/2018 18:55

Laurenskoo do fuck off

fezzesarecool · 03/07/2018 19:05

So annoying, especially as a ex lurker. You read this thread that full of amazing people wishing you could do the same and doubting yourself. Then idiots like this come along Angry

fezzesarecool · 03/07/2018 19:45

Anyway, new plan for the summer. With the school holidays I know my exercise will suffer.

So the aim is to walk at least 4 to 5 miles everyday. Anything else is a bonus.

There definitely will be some weeks where all I can do is walking as my dd’s got a summer school for a week where I get 2 buses there and back and will be entertaining my 18 month old In between. Also we have a caravan holiday for 2 weeks and space wise I don’t think I’ll be able to do strength training in a small space with 2 little ones. Also have a Hen night in early August so although I’ll count my food calories, I be ‘cheating’ and not counting my alcohol calories as I’ve not have a drink since New Year’s Eve.

I want to stick well within my calorie intake. (Not counting the Hen night and will possibly be calorie cycling on holiday).

Weight loss goal between the start of the school holidays and mid September is to maintain. Ideally I’d like to lose a stone, so 1.5 lbs a week in 12 weeks. But anything I lose between the end of school and after the reception induction weeks is a bonus.

Then hopefully bang on with the exercise until October Half term.

honeysucklejasmine · 03/07/2018 20:07

Oh, did I miss a troll? Boo.

Nurse so sorry to hear that - as you say, you've put yourself in a stronger position through your efforts. Well done lovely. I really hope you can recover and discharge soon, and in the meanwhile the dire hospital food might help! 😂

Good summer plan, Fezzes

Another hard day today. I definitely eat my feelings and I'm feeling low at the moment. It's the weather - I am photosensitive because of my immune disease, so bright light makes me flare - I'm tired, sore, short tempered and fucking sweaty. I'm glad I'm lighter for this heatwave but omg.

moonlight1705 · 03/07/2018 20:08

notanurse oh no, are you ok now? How long will you be in for? I hear hospital food is not wonderful so hope you are coping.

B1rdonawire · 03/07/2018 20:22

Notanurse hope you're soon feeling much stronger and well enough to go home. Well done for getting through it.

Totally agree with all of you feeling bleurgh in this heat. Somehow I have also managed to get a cold (oh the irony). Let's all keep sweltering on, we can do this.

fezzesarecool · 03/07/2018 20:24

honeysucklejasmine Thanks

Has anyone else got a summer plan or tips?

I remember Post (I think) saying about water rention and a slower weight loss at this time of year so setting my sights low!

BreakingSad · 03/07/2018 21:43

Notanurse sorry to hear you're still in hospital, hope you're out soon and on the road to recovery.

PostNotInHaste · 04/07/2018 07:47

Oh Notanurse I’m so sorry Flowers As you said though, good thing you are so much fitter now. Hope you start feeling better very soon.

Fezzes my top tips for going away is move enough so you can eat pizza and cheesecake and still lose weight Grin . Probably not the best advicecreally but the moving bit is I think. Maybe mix your food up a bit, spend a bit of time looking for some new things that feel like a treat but aren’t too hefty on the calorie etc front. Take advantage of all the season fruit and veg - I think you spend more caloried posing peas and beans than eating them!

Build in a maintenance week or two to give yourself a psychological break from it all and if it’s true what’s claimed, it will help your lepton and grehlin levels.

If it all goes tits up and the fuck it button goes off come on here and post yourself a line ! Think how much better you will feel this time next year when you’re a few stone lighter. It has made a massive difference to me. I’m very Northern European and not built for heat but am coping pretty we,k with it this year, friend commented on it yesterday,

fezzesarecool · 04/07/2018 11:04

Just accepted a invited to a last minute event.

What’s a low calorie alcoholic drink? Not going to go too mad as I’m saving that for the Hen night but I want to be prepared in case I do decide to have a drink.

I do want to keep this event within my calorie count as there are other things going on in the summer where I will be going on maintenance so I want to be strict for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Post for the tips, I’m noting it down in my food diary. I know I’m going to struggle over the summer but if I can get through without totally losing my mojo that will help when I’m about to get back to routine.

honeysucklejasmine · 04/07/2018 11:57

Vodka and diet mixer I believe. Have fun!

BreakingSad · 04/07/2018 13:55

Depends what you like, 300ml bottle of bud light is 80 calories or a shot of rum about 60 calories. Not that I've looked into this before Grin

My Dd has just come down from uni for a few days, (student nurse so doesn't get long summer holidays) happy to have all my family back together.

Trouble with relying on a Fitbit, is that when you've left it on the kitchen counter, you feel at a lost at the 7 hours of calories burned, which isn't being accounted for Shock

fezzesarecool · 04/07/2018 14:36

Loving this to go in my diary!
