Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

ChestyNut With my stall Honey suggested I reset mfp so it would update my calories and it really helped.

Callmesausage · 18/06/2018 07:43

Morning all, well done everyone and welcome to the new joiners.

Week two and a 2 lb loss making a total of -13. Been very careful again this week but not eating as much as I should which doesn’t work in the long run, so need to watch this.

honeysucklejasmine · 18/06/2018 13:44

Morning! I'm over my disappointment of yesterday and back on it. Just had a cheese less wrap base "pizza" for lunch which was lovely.

It's a nice day here so decided to walk to the shops this morning. There, round and back takes about an hour, pushing a double buggy and carrying the shopping back (in pushchair baskets). I've decided that I will try to do exercise every day, and whilst I can eat my extra bfing calories, I'll try to avoid eating exercise ones.

I still can't over that I voluntarily walked to shops when I've got a perfectly good car! 😂

moonlight1705 · 18/06/2018 14:18

Ha honey you are doing better than me. I was really good and walked down to my old flat to get some meter readings which took about 30 mins there and back.

Really proud of myself but then I forgot something from the supermarket and instead of walking the ten minutes to the shop, I drove down. In my defence its a huge hill to climb back up after and I wanted to get dinner on the go Blush

Well done!

honeysucklejasmine · 18/06/2018 14:25

Still, celebrate the distance you did walk!

strawberrypig · 18/06/2018 14:40

I hit amazon last night and I am having two things delivered today that I hope will help me.

The first is a weighted hula hoop, it's supposed to do wonders for helping whittle your waist. I was rubbish at hula hooping when I was a kid so it has disaster written all over it but nothing ventured, nothing gained!

The second thing is a charm bracelet. I am going to treat myself to a charm with every stone I lose. Fingers crossed I can order the first charm in the next couple of days.

notanurse2017 · 18/06/2018 15:00

strawberrypig, I love your idea of the charm bracelet!

ChestyNut - are you weighing all your food?

AnotherOtter - congrats on graduating!

nicknamehelp · 18/06/2018 16:25

Strawberry pig great idea think I might do something similar.

Dh away so I'm not going to get to gym as dd still not well enough to leave. Might do a video I've got a shelf full!!!

Well under c.c today as I missed lunch as was so busy.

ChestyNut · 18/06/2018 16:54

notanurse no I’m not. I’ve basically just made healthier choices. Small sustainable changes. I don’t really want to get into weighing and tracking cals too much as there’s a fine line for me between weight loss and disordered eating behaviour Sad

Think I need to up the exercise and less cheese Flowers

B1rdonawire · 18/06/2018 18:36

Snap Strawberrypig! I have a bangle and treat myself to a new bead for every stone. It currently has 4 "earned" beads on it, plus 1 my mum gave me for Christmas to say she believes in me and to keep going Smile

1lb off for me today. Didn't do my usual Monday run, but went to open air pool with 3 friends and swam / sort of exercised with pool noodles (a lot of chatting!) It was good for the soul as I find myself v stressed right now.

Good luck for the week everyone!

B1rdonawire · 18/06/2018 18:39

P.s. Well done on flying free from C25k Anotherotter - you're a real live runner!

BreakingSad · 18/06/2018 19:38

I really love the charm for every stone down, thanks for the idea.

Huge well done AnotherOtter on graduating.

nicknamehelp · 19/06/2018 09:59

3rd time I've tried to post this!!

When I joined on here I had already lost a few pounds and for some reason didn't include them and have been getting in a muddle so am using this post to sync mfp to here!

Total to loose 100
Lost today 1
Total so far 11
To go 89.

Hope you all have a good day.

ScaredPAD · 19/06/2018 10:06

Week 8 and 2lbs loss
Starting weight 18st 13
todays weight 18st
goal 10st 7

I did weigh at the doctors for a change and did notice a 3lb change in 10minutes !!! So a reminder not to get overly attached to the numbers as the scale itself can vary (!?)

Chesty im the same with a history of disordered eating so avoiding calory counting. Also why i weigh out as i cant have scales in the house or id be on them daily!! Im just tryjng to make healthier changes, eat when hungry, nothing out of bounds but consciously making healthier meals etc and including healthier foods. Id love a dietician to look over what i so eat and asvise though!!

Thanks for the encouragement Another and Strawberry. Yes i do get very anxious and im not good with long term things. 8 weeks so far though and counting :)

AnotherOtter · 19/06/2018 11:49

Chesty, it is frustrating when the rate of loss slows down. I know you aren't calorie counting or weighing food due to your history which sounds very sensible to me and fits in with the advice I was given too. I wonder if a revamp with a shake up of new recipes would help but really paying attention to ingredients and maybe adapting them to make them healthier would help? So, for example, a Jack Monroe curry but with half the oil and coconut cream. I usually have the same breakfast and lunch every day but on one of my stalls I completely changed both and it helped to get things moving again. Are you still seeing your dietician? Does she have any advice?

Great NSV with walking (and arm workout with the double buggy plus shopping!), Honey. I've found walking great for my mood and think it's really helped with my weight loss. Even better, saves the bus fare/petrol to spend on more fun stuff.

Strawberry, great idea about the charm bracelet. Your bangle sounds lovely, B1rd.

Scared, you are so right about not getting fixated on the number on the scales. It is only ever an estimate and there are so many variables involved.

Well done on the losses folk Smile

fezzesarecool · 20/06/2018 14:17

I need to get a grip!

Spur of the moment, but decided to have a bit of a clear out of my clothes even though I’ve not got much to wear right now.

Anyway just filled a bin bag (to go to the charity shop) nothing special, no favourites in there, mostly stuff I’ve not worn for ages.

But feeling very emotional, a bit scary and sad.

Stupid really, you’d think I’d be happy. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit of a hoarder.

Reallylosingitthistime · 20/06/2018 14:26

Go get rid of it right now, that is what I do... you'll feel far better then!

strawberrypig · 20/06/2018 14:42

Good on you fezzesarecool (just read your username properly btw, we are massive DW fans in our house!)

Had a bit of a arghhhhhhh moment today. When I lived in Scotland as a student I was obsessed with golden wonder sausage and tomato crisps. Since I moved back down i have looked for them with no success. For 15 years I have searched to no avail! I start this lifestyle change and guess what is blowing raspberries at me in Aldi today!

fezzesarecool · 20/06/2018 15:30

😄 another fan!

ChestyNut · 20/06/2018 18:43

Another and scared nice to know there are others with similar issues to me.
I am seeing Dietician still, new recipes are something she mentioned so I need to work on less ready meal stuff. I’m going to have a good chat with her next week.

Having a bad week, am off work, ChestyDog May have skin cancer and someone close is in hospital due to anorexia.
Perfect recipe for huge anxiety and crappy eating patterns. I do not fare well without work routine and sticking to my “rules”.

Just sick of it all, food has such an effect on so many peoples lives Sad
It would be so nice for food to be just food.

Moan over!

On a more positive note I wanted to try some shorts for holiday....I’m 2 sizes smaller than what I thought I was Grin

nicknamehelp · 20/06/2018 19:56

Chestynut be easy on yourself. Food issues are the hardest to over come as unlike drugs/smoking/drinking you can't not eat!

Been to the gym tonight for a new programme (slightly annoyed at dh as cut it short as he wanted to go on a walk only to get home and he had changed his mind) going to try some new machines/techniques to mix it up a bit so I don't get bored!

Eatting going well this week despite still being very stressed think I'm finally begining to have some control.

honeysucklejasmine · 20/06/2018 20:08

chesty huge congratulations on the nsv! I'm sorry to hear about ChestyDog, I hope he's ok.

I had a lovely day at a local wildlife reserve today. Great fun. Lots of calories too. Wink

PostNotInHaste · 20/06/2018 20:09

Just lost a message on the sodding ipad so will just do a quick hello instead.

Congratulations to all those who have been successful in weight loss and/or exercise milestones and to Chesty for being 2 sizes smaller than she thought !!

Sorry about the rest though Chesty and to everyone else struggling Flowers

I'm a big fan of calorie counting as has worked for me . But I think it is so sensible not to go there if you know it leads to disordered thinking.

I'm not trying to lose at the moment as still lots going on. Waved DD off for a month yesterday and was revelling in the silence - till DS said DD had been trying to reach me all day, she'd left her bloody retainer. Poor DH has been lumbered witb sorting that !

Hospital appt tomorrow to discuss fibroid embolisation and Friday I have a job interview . Not sure I could take it even if by any miracle I get it as have the hospital looming but I need the whole applying for job and interview practice thing. Just pleased I got an interview.

Doctor Who fans here as well. DD's dream is to get work experience there whilst at Cardiff!

Cagliostro · 20/06/2018 23:43

Hi everyone! I am a bit all over the place as we picked up our keys today.

I find it really difficult to be sensible with food when overwhelmed so am being really useless. Case in point, I had Dr Pepper this afternoon and now can’t sleep. FFS I will regret that so hard tomorrow :(

Chesty I really relate to wishing food could just be food. It has such emotional implications and I have no idea how one undoes that.

Poor ChestyDog :(

honeysucklejasmine · 21/06/2018 08:27

Cag how exciting! Is it a nice house? You have to arrange things like flooring etc don't you?
