Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

I really love this thread I'm a bit shy and don't post much but I get a lot out of knowing there's others out there! Sort of positive and negative this week. Had a wee dirt out of clothes and found I fitted a dress I bought at Christmas that was too tight. Wire it to a wee event this week feeling great then saw pictures of me... oh dear! But on a good note I've been keeping up with walking over 10,000 steps a day and now my knees and hips don't hurt at all. And I have a calmer happier dog who accompanied me. Def KOKO is the best advice.

puppydogmummy · 16/06/2018 12:06

Sorry for spelling errors typing and drinking coffee n petting dog at same time Blush

AnotherOtter · 16/06/2018 12:11

Honey, well done on the walking and the toddler wrangling. I have some great memories of pushing uncooperative toddlers through parks and telling them stories of dragons that lived in the river. You are a woman after my own heart if peanut butter on toast is a good motivator too!

Fingers crossed on the new uniform fitting, Fezzes. But as you say, even if it doesn't fit, it will soon. Interesting about your experience with the vibration plates. Was it expensive? Well done on your loss this week.

Welcome Beepbeep. Sounds like you have made a good start with the chocolate changes. Sorry to hear about your cancer, I bet that was very hard Thanks It is hard getting started, especially with so many other stresses in life, but you will soon settle into a new routine and make new habits.

Congratulations on six stone lost, Notanurse Star Well done, big achievement and great timing to give you a boost before your operation. You will be okay, take it easy on yourself. It is worrying in the lead up but you will be so pleased once it's over and no more gallstone attacks and no more hernia.

Welcome Fattonotsofat. Have a read of the first post of this thread about what this thread is about.

Well done your loss, Moonlight. How're the pregnancy symptoms?

Scared, I am very motivated by health issues too and as I have lost weight my blood pressure and bloods have steadily improved (my GP takes them regularly as I have other health problems). That has really kept me going and given me extra impetus not to go back. I think you are a worrier like me but we can use that to our advantage at least in this situation. Very important not to get paralysed by anxiety though. That has happened to me before. Reading success stories on the MFP forums can be helpful to make you feel like you really can make changes community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/success-stories

Thanks everyone, I’m surprised at the 2 pounds because of AF but I won’t complain!

The local gymaphobics lets Non members do 10mins in the vibration plate for £4 or 10 sessions for £30. I’ve gone for the £30 option as I’m doing it to go with my skin treatment to help with lympathic drainage.

Apparently if you use it before exercising it makes your workout more intense, which it definitely did for me! After exercising it helps to relax your muscles. Either way it’s supposed to help with toning.

You can exercise/stretch on it too. I’ve just done a few squats on it while I get use to it. I don’t think I would exercise while being on it.

I’m not counting it as exercise calories, no idea what it would be, and even though I feel it working my muscles in it and after for me it’s not actual exercise (if that makes sense).

As for the skin tightening treatment, one session down 4 to go. Who knows what the result, if any will be. I’ve read loads about it and different reviews,it just one of those things where if you don’t personally know anyone that’s tried it, you need to give it a go yourself. So it’s a interesting experiment and experience.

fezzesarecool · 16/06/2018 12:57

Sorry another thing about the vibration plate.

Today I’m noticing whenever I go up the stairs a ache in my thigh muscles, which I normally get after going upping a dumbbell weight to my workout (DOMS). As I’ve not changed my workout weights or routine lately I’m putting that down to the vibration plate.

fattonotsofat · 16/06/2018 13:15

Thanks @AnotherOtter I have a huge amount to lose, over 200lbs so hoping to keep me going with some support from the lovely people on here. I'll be starting WW next Saturday (couldn't get to a class today) but have already joined online so I can make a start this week with getting to grips with everything.

My reasons for wanting to lose weight are:
Be healthier and more active
Be able to do anything I want without fear
Sit in a chair with arms comfortably
Be able to enjoy clothes shopping and not be restricted to one or two online shops
Be more attractive to hubby

honeysucklejasmine · 16/06/2018 14:15

Everyone's doing well today! Well done all!

Welcome fattonotsofat

Notanurse you look amazing! What a change.

AnotherOtter peanut butter is life.

Whoever said about measuring - sorry, I've forgotten who - I did that, but swiftly stopped as the first one I tried had gone up! Blush

B1rdonawire · 16/06/2018 14:40

Ah yes, the trick is not to have the tape too tight for the baseline measurements Wink

strawberrypig · 16/06/2018 17:12

Had a busy week again this week but still managed to stick to it. Bit glum at the moment as I seem to be in a cycle of work, food shopping, cooking, cleaning and repeat. This is usually the point I eat all the wrong things because I am so tired. I was quite proud of myself yesterday though as I did 10 and a half hours at work and felt too tired to cook properly so I grabbed pizzas for the kids and rather than diving in too I quickly chopped some chips to air fry , hand made some burgers and a salad and had that instead. I even skipped the bun! The scales made it worth while this morning!

Week 4

Another 2.5 lbs loss Grin

13 lbs total loss (the same weight as a guinea pig riding a bald eagle)

Only 87 lbs to go Wink

beepbeep321 · 16/06/2018 17:48

So I was at a kids party today at soft play with my munchkin. I had a tuna panini instead of a cheese one, and didn't swop salad for chips....and no cake. So that was another mini victory. It's these little things that I am trying to change on my way to a healthier me. I've done fad diets and just don't stick to them, so it's little changes on the way which hopefully will be sustainable!

ScaredPAD · 16/06/2018 18:38

Well done with the changes beep beep.
Strawberry - Yay for the loss! I'm nowhere near losing as fast!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/06/2018 19:33

Just a quick pop in to say well done all, and welcome to the new 'uns!

I've not done well over the last couple of days (work stuff etc. has taken over) but tomorrow is another day. I've got an interview for another job - a short term contract, but I think more likely to be a better fit than my current one...The thought of moving on so quickly is making me feel incredibly guilty, but the thought of staying for much longer gives me palpitations Blush. The sooner I win the lottery the better....!

Back on track for tomorrow - I've found some hearty salad recipes that I'd forgotten about, so a burst of freshness might be what's needed Smile.

ScaredPAD · 16/06/2018 22:48

Ooops. Had a planned takeaway but went to a buffet instead. I can't remember when I have eaten so much :( I don't go out lots and had such a wonderful time with my friend. I hadn't eaten much earlier in the day but it must be a weeks worth of calories in one go.... there's not a lot I can do about it now is there:( I weigh on Tuesday!

Cagliostro · 16/06/2018 23:24

Hi all. Amazing progress pics! I don’t really have any photos as I tend to avoid them although I can definitely see a change in the odd one on FB etc.

Really struggled this last week though, moving stress is winding me up big time still, and just general life with baby, worn out by daily grind kinda thing.

I must hold on to the fact things WILL get better, and not use the current crappy situation as a reason to give up totally. KOKO and all that 👊

strawberrypig · 16/06/2018 23:38

Scarepad just draw a line under tonight and move forward. None of us are planning on losing the 100lbs as a temporary measure so life should be incorporated into losing it. It shouldn't be a race to get to our target weight, it needs to be something that works after we get to our ideal weights. I don't plan to spend the rest of my life on "a diet" so losing the weight should reflect that.

Tomorrow we are having a family get together as it is a) Father's Day and b) my mum's birthday. I am taking along a side dish I can eat till the cows come home but not worry about what I drink. It may add a few more weeks to my weight loss but, let's face it, another few weeks is not a big thing with 100lbs.

We are all winners just starting this journey, it's not a race but rather a journey to the place we want to be.

Apologies for sounding so twee but I've been in the cycle of losing 25lbs then putting them on so many times because I wanted to be thin quickly and one blip turns to two, three etc. I now incorporate blips into my mindsets and actually encourage them to make sure that this is a lifestyle change.

Reallylosingitthistime · 17/06/2018 09:38

Update (forgot to the other day)

Starting weight 21stone 5lbs
This week - 3lbs off

Current weight 16 stone 10.5lbs
Total loss - 64.5lbs off

Target weight 10 stone 9lbs
To go -85.5lbs

My current small target is to be at 16 stone exactly in just under 6 weeks for a little milestone event which is doable but that would get me to 25% of my starting bodyweight lost then in just over 6 months....

Small victories .... some of my 18s are now too big and I am comfortably in an at least an 18 all over now - rapidly having to alter my wardrobe means I am living out of primark and tesco clothes but I am enjoying wearing nice new things and generally think I look better dressed at present.... additionally I don't need to buy wide fit shoes 👠 and have been wearing heels at work all day or heels out in the evening without much pain!

ChestyNut · 17/06/2018 09:50

Loss this week- 12oz
Total - 54lbs
To lose- 46lbs

Eugh it’s just so slow at the minute Sad

Any ideas for kick starting when you’ve plateaud?
Can’t do anything drastic as don’t want to trigger my starve binge urges Sad

Well done on all the losses, everyone seems to be doing so well.

notanurse good luck for your surgery Flowers

post you look amazing!

honeysucklejasmine · 17/06/2018 10:02

Loss this week: 0.5lbs Sad
Lost to date: 53.25lbs
To lose: 49.50lbs (I included the 0.75lbs I usually ignore from my target)

I'm a bit disappointed tbh. But Koko for next week.

nicknamehelp · 17/06/2018 10:21

Well done on all the losses this week.

We had a cooked breakfast for father's day but I had a small portion and am planning on going to the gym in a bit.

Scarepad the odd slip of a buffet is life and we can all think before hand I'll just have..... at least you enjoyed it now time to draw a line and move on.

AnotherOtter · 17/06/2018 11:36

Loss this week: 1.2lbs
Total loss: 95.2lbs
To go: 5.8lbs (but probably going to have to lower target as waist measurement still too high)

A good week for me. Graduated from C25K this week so feeling very proud. I didn't take photos when I started losing weight and don't have many of me at all. I am very careful about what photos of me are on social media so none there either. Regretting it a bit this week seeing Post's and B1rd's photos!

Puppydog, don't be shy, jump in Smile Great NSVs with the dress and the walking.

You're in the right place, Fattonotsofat, this is a very supportive thread. Good luck with Weightwatchers. I have a real life friend who swears by them.

Honey, I measure myself while looking in a full length mirror so I can see that the tape isn't digging in and is at the widest part (bust and hips) or narrowest part (waist). It's a bit of a fouter. I wonder if I find it particularly useful because I don't have photos. Or maybe I'm just a numbers nerd and love a good graph! Don't be downhearted about your weigh in. A loss is still a loss and remember it's not linear as much as we'd like it to be.

Well done, Strawberry, on going for the home cooked meal despite being exhausted. Are there things you could do for yourself to look after and reward you that don't involve food? Fuck the hoovering for the week (or tell your OH to do it if they don't already) or go to bed early with a book?

Sorry to hear that your work is still not good, Tractors Thanks Good luck with the interview and don't feel bad about moving on. You've got to look after yourself too.

Get right back on the wagon and move on, Scared. Don't let a blip become an excuse to give up like many of us here have done before. Think back and try and work out what was going through your head that lead to you losing control and try to learn from it. I bet not eating enough during the day had a lot to do with it. If you learn something then it's not a waste.

Well done on the losses this week and well done to those that are KOKO regardless Thanks

notanurse2017 · 17/06/2018 12:25

ChestyNut - I have done a week on maintenance when I've plateaued before. That seemed to help me mentally. Also - upping the walking bump started me losing weight again.

You're doing so well - don't feel downhearted that your weight loss has slowed down.

honeysucklejasmine · 17/06/2018 12:27

True AnotherOtter, true. Looking at my graph, it does look like it might be a hormonal pattern emerging. Every 3-4 weeks the gradient lessens somewhat. It picks up again in the interim.

I struggle measuring my hips as I have the two-babies belly and very large thighs, so it's hard to know where to put it 😂

strawberrypig · 17/06/2018 12:29

Well done for all the losses.

ChestNut, what diet are you on? Sometimes changing the diet is enough to kick start the weight loss again. It may be explained by this though 100down.org/the-whoosh-effect/

OtherOtter, I'm a very keen cook and it's the cooking of the meal that is the treat for me. I have never been a snacked and I don't have a sweet tooth. I put on weight by skipping too many meals, so screwing my metabolism and overdoing the carbs. When I am using food as a reward I lose weight!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 17/06/2018 15:00

Back on track today - meal planned and food shop done. DCs with their dad today, so I have a clear run at getting things sorted for interview and work.

Reminder to self: KOKO!

Thanks notanurse just frustrating when it slows down and I’m still maintaining the changes.

strawberry I’m not on a “diet” just cut out the crap and trying to make healthier choices. I’ll have a look at the link Thankyou Flowers
