8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

I've lost nothing but I knew that was coming - it takes a few more weeks for my metabolism to kick in even though I'm being good! I did go on the boditrax machine someone suggested (thanks!) and found out exactly what you had thought, I have lost a significant amount of fat and converted it into muscle. So although I am a bit annoyed that no weight has come off, if I continue like this, it will happen as the muscle will keep coming and that will burn calories faster (or something like that!).

I am also now wondering about the scales I am using as the boditrax machine weighed me lower than my scales at home so I think I will take the boditrax info as my baseline now and go from there.

Thanks to whoever suggested it as I must admit it has made me feel loads better

3lbs down this week Grin

Dottydoodoo · 27/05/2018 09:05

Wow well done everyone you have all done amazing Grin I am not going to weigh myself today as I only started halfway through the week. I know what I’m like and if I haven’t lost anything (which I won’t have done yet) then I will self sabotage and eat all of the food! Next Sunday I’ll be on the scales, and will have to try and resist jumping on in between!

I’m feeling positive today, it’s a good feeling.

tava63 · 27/05/2018 09:11

2lbs off for me - not eating late is a must. I'm slowly getting my head around Slimming World but this week I need to get some actual exercise in. Best of luck everyone for next Sunday.

summerslimmer · 27/05/2018 09:12

2lb down :)
Glad to hear others are losing and/ or improving fitness. The first week is done- it will get easier now

Thiswontendwell You are moving in the right direction - it's sometimes hard to care for yourself but it's necessary. Don't give up

I’ve downloaded mfp today so hoping that writing everything I eat makes me do it more consciously!

ObiJuanKenobi · 27/05/2018 10:53

Today's plan

Breakfast: porridge
Lunch: fruit smoothie - watermelon, mango, blueberry and a splash of apple juice
Snack: small summer salad
Dinner: tomato and basil soup

Off out with the kids to the new forest today though so I'm sure there will be an ice cream along the way Wink

montenotte · 27/05/2018 12:02

DaffoDeffo that is fantastic news.
The scales really are the "sad step" as the body coach says and give you a poor insight into how you're doing.
It's shape/outline that we're trying to change after all.
Ignore your scales at home and stick with the boditrax.

montenotte · 27/05/2018 12:02

ObiJuanKenobi get some protein down you.

BiscuitMachine · 27/05/2018 14:42

Well done everyone and keep at it! I’m down a pound and a half, not bad considering a massive blip yesterday. Back on it today xx

legohouse · 27/05/2018 15:12

5lbs off!! So happy Smile

myusernamewastakenbyme · 27/05/2018 18:01

Im not going to weigh for a few days either....im a bit annoyed at myself...i was in the staff canteen at work and they were giving out free cookies...i ate 2...they are the quite big ones too you get from a bakery....feel pissed off at my lack of willpower.

Dottydoodoo · 27/05/2018 20:55

myusername don’t be annoyed at yourself we are only human everyone slips up every now and again. Tomorrow is a new day.

I’ve just done one of the body coach workouts on YouTube. Goodness me I am hot! And so unfit!! It was good it only took 20 minutes. I think I might ache tomorrow though!

user1469751309 · 27/05/2018 21:11

Weigh in week 1 this week and and I'm 5lbs down! I'm chuffed but have been super good but out tomorrow with the kids all day so hoping to stay on track!

bbcessex · 27/05/2018 21:16

Thanks purple - yesterday was particularly great as it was hot and I had more choice of clothes to wear - yeyyy!!

Good luck for this week everyone 👍🤞👍

MrsMozart · 27/05/2018 21:39

Yay Purple and Obi and anyone I've missed.

Had a few off days. Have to travel for work, so many hours driving and hotel stays. I've had my usual first room service meal. After today it'll be bags of salad and tins of sardines! Will be walking two hours a day min as I've booked a hotel an hour from our client's site. Wish me luck Grin

SureIusedtobetaller · 27/05/2018 21:50

A kilo down so that’s encouraging.
My waist/height ratio is not great so I really do need to be doing this.

Mumathon · 28/05/2018 08:21

Forgot to weigh in yesterday.
I was 73.5kg when I last checked in on here, this morning I’m 72.2 so a 1.3kg loss, or 2.8lb. Pleased with that, it also brings to just over a stone lost since I started 5weeks ago!

Thiswontendwell · 28/05/2018 08:41

1.9 kg down!
So pleased - esp given the last couple of days when I definitely went a bit rogue!Smile
Thanks for this summer - suddenly it's seems doable even though there's a long way to go...
Well done everyone!

bbcessex · 28/05/2018 08:53

MrsMozart - that’s genius - is it a pleasant walk?

DaffoDeffo · 28/05/2018 12:11

Thanks Monte I see it was you that recommended it. Such a great tip for me! And thanks summer for starting the thread - has been the only thing that has got me motivated and going!

DaffoDeffo · 28/05/2018 12:13

Sorry it was Heart as well so thank you too! I was on the verge of giving up!

DaffoDeffo · 28/05/2018 12:14

My waist is my biggest problem sure and it will be the last place the weight/fat will disappear from I'm sure argh!

HotelRoomforOne · 28/05/2018 13:32

Hello, I’d love to join in. My starting weight is 63 kg. All my adult life I was between 50 and 55kg. Since my second child (2 and a half years ago) my body has just clung to this excess weight. I have been breastfeeding for five years now (2 children consecutively) and even this has not shifted the weight. So my goal is to try and lose a stone along with you all, I guess there’s 7 weeks left now? This is a great idea, can’t wait to see if our internet accountability group works!! I would like to do low carb, low sugar, high fat but have the added issue of being a vegan, anyone else veg/vegan and thinking about LCHF DIET? Good luck all x

fatneedtobelighterhelp · 28/05/2018 14:35

Hello can I join too? I need to lose 2 stone ideally.
I'm trying very low carb (20 carb points) and 800 calories using MFP to help. Do you think this will work? I've cobbled it together. I have a very useless metabolism so hope this will wake it up. I'm nearly 50.
