8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Obi- you're right, I usually feel disappointed at 'only' 1lb but it actually is quite a large amount and better 1lb off than in!
Have a good day everyone

Summer Thatnk you for that reminder! Helps to keep all in perspective.

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/05/2018 08:59

Great photo to keep motivation up!! The in laws have invited themselves over for a takeaway this evening so I've had a banana for breakfast and have prepared a small salad of mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes, grated carrot, spring onions and a hard boiled egg for lunch.
Hoping I can get away with a small amount of plain boiled rice with some mixed vegetables and bamboo shoots from the Chinese without MIL force feeding me Grin

Dottydoodoo · 25/05/2018 21:11

Summer that is a very motivating picture, thank you. I shall think of that when I am feeling disheartened.

Today has been a good day. I have been at work so on my feet all day but I managed to resist the bag of sweets that was on the go. I’ve just completed my day on mfp and 108 calories down so I’m feeling good. I can do this! Now just to carry on and not give up after three days!

summerslimmer · 25/05/2018 21:28

So I went to pizza express for my sister’s birthday and had the superfood salad :) I’m so impressed with myself!
Other food today
Breakfast - Greek yoghurt, eat natural bar
Starbucks latte with oat milk
Lunch - lentil curry and salad
Snacks - energy ball on the train
1 small piece of baklava because I am greedy
Not the best of days but certainly not the worst as did almost 13,000 steps
We are nearing the week mark- we are doing so well :)

Obi well done! You did better than me on the takeaway front... But I did so much exercise that MFP is showing a good result. And managed not to have any chocolate.

Well done Dotty!

Hope all had a good one.

Hello all,

I’ve eaten out two days in a row (my birthday) and had the full three courses plus wine Blush. However I have tried to make better choices with the food, and I cycled to work and back yesterday (not done this all the way before) which is a total of 20 miles. So that worked off a bit of food! I’m hopeful I still will have lost some. Keep at it everyone x

Makegoodchoices · 26/05/2018 07:40

Me too please. I’m 11.3 and too short for that - need to be 9.5 but 10.3 would be amazing considering my willpower right now. I’m doing couch to 5k but it’s making me unbelievably hungry! Need to low carb it and ignore what DH does as his gluttony leads to my gluttony Blush

PurpleDaisies · 26/05/2018 08:47

Running makes me really hungry to make. I really enjoyed couch to 5k as a way of getting fitter but it didn’t help me lose weight because of the hunger. I’m sure others with better appetite control did though.

I’m off to body combat and Pilates this morning. Really don’t feel like it but hope once I get there it will be better.

It’s been quite a good week overall, probably 80% good food which is what I normally aim for. We’ll see what the scales say.

0hCrepe · 26/05/2018 08:52

I would like to join too, I had my baby and went straight back to my preferred weight but when she stopped breastfeeding and I went on the pill I seemed to gain a stone almost over night. I came off the pill again but the weight has stayed.
I’ve previously lost weight doing paul McKenna but I feel a bit clueless this time!

bbcessex · 26/05/2018 10:30

Happy slimming weekends everybody ⭐️😎⭐️

I had a lovely ‘trying on old clothes ‘ session this morning - only been dieting 3 weeks and can feel a big improvement already .. spurs me on to not pig out totally this bank hols 🍾

PurpleDaisies · 26/05/2018 10:56

When’s weigh in day? I’ve managed to resist weighing every five minutes this week and I’m hoping for a loss.

PurpleDaisies · 26/05/2018 10:57

bbc that’s great! I’ve got a dress for a works do in a few weeks that is definitely too tight at the moment. It must be lovely to dig out old clothes that now fit. Free new wardrobe!

DaffoDeffo · 26/05/2018 11:17

that's a great picture Summer!

I have done ok food wise but I am pretty sure I am still not losing weight. We will see on Sunday. It may only be a pound but looking at that picture does make me happier!

I haven't done any exercise today as I need to take ds out so i need to try and fit something in this afternoon.

yesterday I only had a soup, a fish stew, some baked sweet potatoes and some olives and all in all came in around 1200. I am managing to hit that number but I think I have to significantly up my exercise too.

Weirdly I've always found that weight loss was more about what I eat than exercise but I think my metabolism isn't fast enough at the moment which is why it's taking longer (this is what age does to you obviously!).

Thiswontendwell · 26/05/2018 15:26

Slightly fell off the eating no carbs wagon yesterday and also had one or two gins....
Oops
Grin
But back on the trail today...
My sister has just told me how overweight I look and how I have to do something!!!! So sadly the miracle first week weight loss of the BS diet might not have happened for me! And trying to resist the temptation to shovel loads of food down just to spite her!
I too am resisting jumping on the scales and will leave it till tomorrow
As you say summer just one pound is an achievement so I do hope I have managed that.....

summerslimmer · 26/05/2018 15:41

Hope everyone's okay today and having a good weekend so far.
I'm not expecting a massive loss this week- but I'm hopeful for a pound or two - I've def been a lot more mindful of portions and have reduced carbs and really limited snacking.
It's the little things that all add up I think - good or bad -so little changes for the better make it more sustainable.

OP posts:
summerslimmer · 26/05/2018 15:45

Thiswontendwell- that was mean of your sister - I'm sure you will see a difference on the scales tomorrow. It's not even just about the scale, it's feeling good enough about yourself to make good choices. I always think of food as a way to treat myself then I thought I try not to use food as treat for my dog so I shouldn't do it to myself!

BiscuitMachine · 26/05/2018 21:03

Bad day today, lots of temptation to overcome and I didn’t! I just hope I’ve been good enough earlier in the week. This always happens, I can be doing fairly well and feeling on top of it, and then I subconsciously give myself a day off. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day 🙂

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 26/05/2018 21:06

weightwatchers app on your phone. a client of mine lost 6 stone in 7 months using it and walking, dancing, etc....

Thiswontendwell · 27/05/2018 00:20

Thanks summer

I do actually feel better about myself even in a week (maybe it's the help from everyone here!)

I think I have just been a bit more 'mindful' about what I eat and drink this week. Eating has often been less of a pleasure and more of a punishment (if that's not too dramatic...) in recent times. Which is sad because I love cooking and eating nice food.

However I have really enjoyed some of the food esp salads etc this week (beetroot, feta and walnuts is a winner!) and any drink - afraid I had some wine tonight - has been drunk very slowly. And it's been much more appreciated!! So I feel like I am just treating myself a bit better than I have done for a while - I haven't really cared enough quite a lot of the time in the last couple of years.

Anyway - a bit of exercise in the sun today has been great!

Gymntonic · 27/05/2018 06:37

2lbs down for me. Happy with that as I've been losing steadily since January and recently had slowed to half a pound a week. Have had to be ruthless though... Under 1200 a day, and 20,000 steps a day. Even restrained on my birthday- opted to drive, sensible food choices. I am 53 though so that doesn't help. Have a holiday and wedding to go to early July so taking it one day at a time.
Hope everyone else weighing in today has good news 😀

PurpleDaisies · 27/05/2018 07:58

I’m down 3.5lbs. I’m really surprised-I didn’t think it would be that much. Half term this week though. I’ve booked in for lots of gym classes and I’m going to try to stick to the plan.
